Not at all United related but I have to say what on earth is going on with Torres. Sure he has been short of form for a while now but what would be worrying for Chelsea fans is that he seems to have lost his technique. Whenever he attempts to shoot or even pass he isnt picking his spot and seems to do nothing more than swing his leg at the ball. He doesnt even seem to be bending his knees properly or following through with his shots. Quite remarkable how a man can go from being the best striker in the world to what he is now.

You have to say Chelsea have done a bit of a smash and grab over these two legs. Benfica have been nonstop attacking in both fixtures and are 2.0 down. Cannot see this Chelsea team coping against Barcelona very well, I think they will win by five clear goals over the two legs. I like some of these Benfica players, Gaitan has looked pretty good and with more space on a bigger pitch he could be a problem for defenders.

Seeing ronaldo play nowadays,i wonder how much of an influence the likes of van nistelrooy, scholesy, giggs had on him....training everyday with such exceptional players at such a young age must have had immense impact on him.it's every youngster's dream.curiously, i have never heard him say anything about RUUD.(correct me if i am wrong).
Now all we have is rooney and vida(granted we still have scolesy and giggs for another year).Hopefully, this summer, we will get some really top talents and mould them into world beaters.

Interesting comments from Desailly ...

I have always said that I would like Martinez for DM, but if barca or madrid come in for him then I think that will be a NO, NO...

M'Vila would be my second choice and him Pogba and Cleverly could be fantastic in the middle..

Constantine..

You blew my post way out of proportion. I know this is a banter site etc, but to say that i think that i think i feel i have some sort of authority is way over the top. Loads of people who post on here come out give their opinion, i was doing the same and never said we wern't entitled to our own opinions.

I understand we have a few naive people who post on here but thats life.

Now lets save the banter/slatings for the Liverpool fans when they re-emerge.

Diego maradona's been quoted as saying his son in law Aguero shoul play for Real Madrid, that he can't go for money reasons as City don't need any so it will have to be for another reason, weather? My dream? I feel an engineered exit this summer.
He could never go direct from Athletico as he would of probably been lynched. Balotelli to engineer a move to Milan, Tevez to inter or wherever, all for less money, more paid out for players coming in. Dzeko will be left but he's apparently on his way out. Marvellous stuff at the circus next door.

In response to Shappy's mamouth post earlier, here is my reply to it.

I agree on the whole with the areas that he mentions, but i think that both Pogba and Fletcher will be here next season. At the very least i would expect Fletcher to return. I also wouldn't want Yacob, he is just a ball winner and lets be honest, in 99% of matches we do not need that type of player - i'd rather let Pogba, Fletcher or even Carrick to do that role for us.

Instead i think that we need just one established player and maybe a youngster. There will be options, either we go for the guile of Modric or the strength of Martinez. I'd rather have Martinez as i have always thought that Cleverly (who will be a main stay in the midfield) will not be well combined with the also small Modric. In many matches i feel we would be over powered in there. Martinez and Cleverly would offer a lot in the middle. Martinez would take a large chunk out of our budget, so if we were to go for another player i'd have to take Kovacic on a nominal fee. It would be a shame to miss out on him.

If we had plenty of money, then the other player that i would love to have would be Hazard. However, realistically, i don't see us getting him, especially since other areas are needed to be worked on. The cheaper option would be Gaitain who is left footed which is something that SAF is looking out for. Rediculous prices are quoted, but in all honesty i think that if we pushed then we could get him for just over 20 million.

If we were to get Gaitan then i'd be glad to have Young in the hole, with him on the left in some games. But i also like the partnerships of our strikers with Rooney. The chances are Owen will get a new deal as if we had a good attacking midfielder then we would need 3 good strikers and perhaps a back up. I liked the Adebayor shout earlier, but its not going to happen.

Two players for me in defence, Cissokho and Clyne. Cissokho in position looks to be pushing for a move to us - and i would be surprised if we were not interested in him. He'd be the better bet than Alba. Clyne also for a tiny fee would be fantastic, cost effective risk. He could turn out to be an excellent player.

In conclusion:

_______________De Gea
Rafael____Smalling____Vidic___Cissokho
__________Martinez___Cleverly
Valencia________Rooney_______Gaitan
______________Welbeck

Or the other good option is:

_______________De Gea
Rafael____Smalling____Vidic___Cissokho
__________Martinez___Cleverly
Valencia_______Young________Gaitan/Nani
______________Rooney

We could get Clyne, Cissokho, Kovacic, Martinez and Gaitan for probably just over £50 million. But with sales it would be financially acceptible and would improve the team alot.

Vidic in an interview today

''I always believed we would challenge for the title, It does'nt matter who is out. Manchester United never depend on one person. If you look at the past, Players have left and fans have said how are we going to cope? But the manager is the best at replacing players and the team will still win trophies. That is why Man United are so special.''

''We didnt expect the young players would play so many games and have such an influence on the team. This is a great plus for the club. Obviously we've had some injuries over the past year, Which is another difficult thing we have gone through, But we have coped and been very competitive with Manchester City.''

About his injury

''I never thought about coming back, I am not pushing, I am lucky, The manager and the physios and the doctor wer'nt trying to beat the record. they did'nt want me to come back in 5 months. There would be no point in rushing to play one or two games. As soon as i got the injury and had the operation. I knew i would'nt be back, Im just focused on next season. when i come back i want to be at the same level i was before my injury, This is one of the things that drive me on, I cant change what happened, I have to get on with it.''

I cant wait to see Vida back next season, Imagine where would could be without injuries this season? vidic, Fletcher, Cleverly, Anderson, Nani, Owen. Then Valencia, Young, Rio,Welbeck and Hernandez have missed a few games aswell.

I'll take more pride if we win it this season than when we won #19, Because of our injuries and to shut city up for a while.

Must admit its quite amusing when people start saying we should
by +++++ and them get ++++ etc and put them ina starting 11
because they have got up in a morning turned on theirs TV's and
gone on and checked gossip and suddenly beleive we will be
signing these players that we are supposedly being linked to.

Mad Hatter

must admit I find amusing when current gripe of the month leaves a trail of bandwagoners who somehow have telepathic abilities to know the motives for the latest popular name post. and then have the snobbery to question it. sounds like a gaggle of anorak supporters having a moan and trying to distance themselves as if they have some superiority on the subject.

why is it your an authority?

and whats with all the sarcasm lately? seems to be in nearly every reply to an innocent yet maybe naive question. How long will will keane be ready? how long is a piece of string??? seriously great job. some of its funny alot of it cringeworth. it is getting to be more and more of a presence.

lol no matter sure most can handle it but wouldnt mind seeing more genuine answers again.

realistic scenario for both points is your just slamming down a younger supporter who gets excited and wants to get involved or the more casual supporter maybe.

expect to see in the near future folks

rule one though shall not suggest any player from any football game irrelevant of quality of said player.

rule two thou shall not discuss a player you just saw on motd

rule three only if you spend at least ten hours in a day researching players you can be considered legitimate.

rule four names mentioned must first have been offered up by either sydney or the eds or any of the regulars whos names will be released shortly..

see where im getting with this?

lol idc. but mad hats you saying what you just said is as bandwagon as the people you supposedly critisising and it makes me chuckle you totally missed that.

Ed002, do clubs not even get a small percentage of units sold, say if they sold X or more amount of units? Nike, Adidas or whoever.

Supasub {Ed001's Note - no, Liverpool had a deal based on that with Reebok a few years ago, but no one has bothered since. They get the merchant's percentage from goods sold in the club stores though. So buying it through the official site or shops will give the club a cut of the money.}

Also they never post a name

At the end of the day we don't know who we will sign, but we hope that the players we sign will be quality signings with maybe the addition of a youngster here or there.

been reading this site for a couple of yeasr now and am amazed at some of the comments on here, according to our " supporters" we need to but virtually everyone next season.

now the reason i find this increadible is the same " supporters " have been raving about our reserves and academy lads, but in the next breath want to buy every player that has a good game, i admit we have not been at ourbest this season however by goung out and buying 4-5 or more players as some suggest we only ruin all the hard work put in by the players and staff at all levels within United, if we dont win anything for a couple of years then so be it, but lets give these lads a run and back them all the way, you never know we might be the next team like Barca with around 8-9 homegrown players ruling the football world.

so all i`m saying is lets give the United traditions a good go our best teams have akways had plenty of homegrown talent in them, so why change things now.
