Just heard from the same guy that told me a week before that we would sign Jones that we have offered £30 million for Javier Pastore who plays midfielder just behind the strikers for Palermo. All I know is that he is amazing on football manager 11. £30 million seems a bit steep to me though....

Tevez wants to leave, what a surprise. Here's Tevez' career highlights so far, this is a summary written by another United fan via Twitter.

Part 1: Swaps boyhood Argentine club Boca for Brazil's Corinthians. Within 2 years refusing to play.

Part 2: Illegally signs for West Ham, scores 1 in 17 initially, leaves ground after being subbed.

Part 3: Helps keep them up, leaves for us. Scores 5 league goals in 2nd year, moans about playing time.

Part 4: Joins bitter rivals city, hands in transfer request, withdraws it, mocks Manchester, leaves.

Tevez, time spent at clubs: Boca (2 1/2 years), Corinthians (2 years), West Ham (1 year), United (2 years), city (2 years).

How any United fan can defend this vile little man is beyond me.

CLICHY; "I understand that the people who live in Manchester are the true fans. They are from MCFC"

DZEKO; "I hear a lot about the fans - that most of the people from Manchester are MCFC fans."

DE JONG; "I noticed from the moment I arrived in Manchester how many Blues there were compared to Reds."

@Now is it just me or is Cooke making City players read from a script? What do you think Ed? Pathetic?

It's imperative that we follow up our interest in Brazil U17's starlet Adryan, just 16 years old and has a buy-out clause of £12m. If we can get him for around £5m we will be laughing.

Is the interest in Douglas Costa totally gone or have all the other rumours removed any thought of him coming to united? He had three assists in europe last season, not a bad return for a twenty year old and he'd fit in well at united with anderson and the da silva twins.

My work situation means I miss all the controversy. Seems like RAINFISH has upset a few people.

My thoughts are that it doesnt matter where you come from or , it is what brought about the love for the club and the continuing love for it that matters.

It is worth pointing out that if, like RAINFISH you were around in the seventies even the eighties (and early nineties when we lost the league in 1992) it was a tough time to be a United fan in Manchester; Liverpool were far more successful, even City were top dogs and had the league cup prior to us finally winning the FA Cup. Yes, there was a lot of fun on the terraces but nothing beats winning. So before being too harsh on RAINFISH bear in mind that a lot of United fans in that era had a lot more to put up with. It meant you were ridiculed mercilessly, especially in and around Manchester. Just look at this page after we lose a game then think what it was like constantly year after year in Manchester where there were fair weather city and Liverpool fans, as well as the real ones, ready to take plenty of swipes at you. RAINFISH didnt grow up under the Ferguson years and nor did I. It likely means he has a higher expectation of what it means to be a United fan and remain a fan. Like it or not many on here have not been tested yet. There have been poor seasons but not a poor era.

I welcome every united fan who holds the club to their heart no matter where they live, who they are or where they are from, it doesnt matter if they have never been to Old Trafford. There will be a reason why they started to support the club and that likely will give a better clue as to whether it will last, more than a geographical location.

Cant believe people r talking abt Pastore at £40m - plus Its madness Wouldnt want Utd to pay that for someone on principal Not When you could get Nasri for half that.... Madrid r welcome to him IMO. Just got a feeling that we're gonna bring in another 2 players before the window shuts, (Nasri hopefully) an maybe one out of leftfield that'll suprise us all.

As Clichy has now left to Man City it is planned that Nasri will now arrive in Manchester by the end of the week to sign off a £20m deal as Arsene Wenger seems to be getting rid of his starts rather than introducing new ones.

hang on- I don't get it. Gibson, Anderson, fletcher and carrick are all quality players, we just need to give them more playing time schweinsteiger, sanchez, nasri, modric and pastore are way too expensive, we have all the midfield dynamo we need, right under our noses
besides, young and jones can play centre mid.

Lol what a day. Go away come back. Never expected this. Ed i know you drew a line but it will go when the day is gone i'm sure. Post if you wish or not. I'm easy. Rainey hit a nerve in a lot of people. He asked a fair question but ruined it by finishing it insinuating any out of manchester is a glory hunter. That's what spun all this. But it brought something out that he was trying show what the locals had. And in irony It showed community right here, with fans all over. Maybe not in the way he wanted. But it showed it. Were a family connected by by the club. i enjoyed reading the passions of each of them.made for an interesting days of how everyone got into the club. In this cold day and age people just want to be inspired by something. And to that it means much more than a club. It may have started with the locals but its expanded. But mate its certainly still the community you speak off. Everyone here brings something different to the table. Live and let live. At least there was less off nasri and sneijder Don't think we'll forget this day in a while. Cons red {Ed007's Note - I don't think Rainfish will either, he is entitled to his opinion, and most of the regulars had their posts put up (well I posted them) but some of the stuff wasn't very nice (anonymous) and rather than explain themselves it was attacks on Rainfish. I deleted loads of that because although we are all adults etc I didn't want it to turn into a bully fest against the man. If everyone/anyone wants to post in about their love for the club, why they love it, who made them take notice, first matches etc etc that is fine by me. As you say, it is a bit different to the usual stuff and could make some interesting reading, so you can get as misty eyed as you want! If you do not want to post it in the banter form and use Word etc to write it, I am happy to give people who leave an e-mail address in the field my e-mail, where you can send it to me and I will post them up. Nobody's e-mail address will be given out or passed onto anyone. As I say on the CFC pages, it is you guys site as much as ours and all your input is appreciated. I will look into opening up a separate section for stuff like that if you wanted it. If we all had the same opinions it would be a very boring world.}

We usually judge players from what we see in youtube clips or hear from newspapers.
If we compile nani's best moments he would certainly look the same as messi or ronaldo.wont he?

Nice to see City have wrapped up Clichy. Maybe if they'd watched Nani wrapping him up game after game they might have gone for someone who could actually defend a bit. He's definitely going to sort out the defensive frailties that Kolarov gave them, isn't he?

Even better, now Liverpool have to spend twice as much as they would have on Clichy on Jose Enrique... or maybe they'll miss out on him to Arsenal too. Oh well, there's always Wayne Bridge...

ngiak just feels that this issue will continue to fester
although in his little penguin head, he knows you are right about ending it ASAP
ngiak is reminded of a story not so long ago
a certain player put his club "apparently" for ransom
a certain fan demanded repeatedly for an apology and even after it came multiple times, this certain fan is STILL not satisfied and continues to criticise, belittle and ridicule the player
however, this SAME fan criticised hundreds of millions of fellow fans on a public website and now claims to be disappointed and unsatisfied with his criticism
do you think, mr james bond that after all this, the "end" could be the same medicine that this fan demanded from a certain player he villified?
this must end very soon, mr james bond, people are getting tired of rants like this one from ngiak
but there is a huge sour taste in the mouths of 329, 999, 999 manchester united fans

Crikey I was gonna answer RAINFISHTROMBONE's post last night but Im glad I didnt as it wouldve got lost amongst the deluge of abuse. To put it simply mate, I was born in Barnsley but moved to Hertfordshire when I was 9. So, no I dont have any direct connections with Manchester. The single reason I support United is that I wasnt brought up by a sporting family and the I first knew of football when I was 5 years old. That was 1988. My first introduction to anything football was a tv program that talked about the 30th anniversary of Munich. That is the single moment I fell in love with Manchester United. And believe me it wasnt easy being surrounded by Leeds fans in 1992 and some even asked why I didnt support Leeds but I had made my decision and nothing was going to change it. United is and always has been my club.

i think alot of people have missed rainfish's point, i don't think he's saying people shouldn't support the club if their not from manchester i think what he's trying to ask is why these people support united. Personally i think it's a little short sighted question as it surely it doesn't matter why you support united just that you do with passion and pride and in a manner befitting our great club. No fan is worth more than any other fan, we are as one in our love for the best club in the world. And for the record i'm from bristol, and rainfish i support the club because i was brought up to, i feel the pain of every loss, the bitter disapointment and the joy of our successes. I believe in what the club stands for and its traditions and have great pride in the way our club conducts itself. Some fans support the club because they come from manchester, some support the club because their family do, some do because of what manchester united stand for and some do because were successful but at the end of the day we need all the support possible if we are to continue to grow. Does that answer you question rainfish? Now can we draw a line under all this now.

Wow... is this a manchester united rumour site or a rainfish criticism site? Although he made a stupid comment about support of teams, i think enough answers have been provided. End of the day, we all support united and we want our team to do the best they can. Let's stop with the anger towards rainfish, he should already feel like an utter SOB

Anyways... back to some proper banter and rumours

1 - a few youngsters may join, names have been thrown around but it is solely scouting and package planning at the moment
2- a CM or two will be purchased, obviously all these rumours are flying around surrounding Nasri, but its a waiting game for a bit, if not other names are in the frame as well as a few unmentioned targets which could happen
3 - A winger is a possibility IF nani leaves, but i hope he doesn't though i would like to see Hazard or Mata who can both play off the striker, but we shall see

I predict an interesting summer with a good end result for the Red Devils

Rainfish..

I'm not going to have a rant, as you've had enough of that already ha.

People support teams and wear their shirts because of Television. Television now-a-days covers many, many football matches, from England to Spain, Italy to France, Germany and even the odd match from Northern Ireland. We get to see teams play and begin to enjoy their play and want them to win. This becomes our support of a team.

This leads to us buying their merchandise and going to watch them live. Without this we would not be able to fund any moves for players we have signed in the past. That means, no Ronaldo, no Van Nistlerooy, no Schmeichal, no Nani, no Cantona etc...the list can go on for 8/10 of our players.

I for example have a favourite team from each league in the world, but when it comes to Champions League, I despise them.

What is wrong with showing your support for one team, and what is so wrong with you expressing your pride of that team by wearing their shirts. Nothing is.

Hopefully this answers your 'question'?

Ranfishtrombone - I think the point people are missing: You only want Manchester United fans to be local. Have you not considered without the WORLDWIDE support and MERCHANDISING and REVENUE that this generates, have you not possibly considered the club WOULDNT be half as big as it now is, and thus wouldnt be able to compete in the transfer market either in terms of transfer FEES and also of course in ENTICING YOUNG FOREIGN talent without the worldwide support.
I have supported the club for over 30 years and am not local, however when I was six I didnt even know or consider where Manchester was while drooling over Steve Coppell. Nowadays with the television coverage as it is, other children of 6 years old can be drawn to the club even more so WORLDWIDE with these same feelings drooling over todays players, which in turn generates more money, support and talent.
Have you not realised this is part of the ethos of the club today. Why do you think there are pre-season tours of Asia, America etc etc etc.
Manchester United is far too bigger thing to be contained within the North West, surely you realise this if you think properly about the last 20 years?

You are an immature, spoilt, and obviously uneducated little man (and a sorry excuse of a human being)

Manchester United is so much more than that

So basically the way you look at things is (if your not from manchester you cant support OUR team)

That's basically the same as me saying George Best is from Belfast.......HOW DARE YOU SUPPORT MY PLAYER

Or someone from Liverpool could turn round to you and say HOW DARE YOU SUPPORT WAYNE ROONEY He's from liverpool

Same goes to any player playing for man united that's "not from Manchester".....I could name of players deep through till next week probably telling you players that you "arent allowed to support"

Never come back onto this site again as you are a complete let down to Manchester United FC......

Fergies from glasgow....does that mean he's not allowed to 'support' man united?

Now that is how to light a fuse. I ask one simple question and all your insecurities surface and you turn to abuse. There are obviously some very raw nerves out there and people who need to jusify themselves. Still it makes a change from reading a post that someone has copied from the paper.

As for Sydney's stupid coment about there would be no club if only people from Manchester supported United. There is no point responding.

I was just trying to understand the mentality of supporting a team you have no connection with. I see people walking round in a Barcelona shirt or Brazil shirt and I just dont get it.

Football and football clubs should be about communities and local pride whereas to some people they are just a brand to be worn as a connection to success.

I am dissapointed that so few of you gave sensible answers and instead acted with fear as if you had been found out and needed to react.

Lets all just go back to repeating rumours we have read in papers (or in Gan's case flirting with ED007) as I don't want to hurt any more feelings. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Rainfish,

I have to say you have outdone yourself this time.
I always knew you thought you were the only true united supporter on here and all us shirt replica wearing fans were just sheep.
Us glory hunters from outside manchester as you like to call us could support any club we wanted but we chose united and the main reasons being probably seeing our parents passion for the club and hearing about Best Charlton Law etc and the history of our great club.

You Rainfish come across like a spoilt child clinging onto your toys and not wanting to share them with anyone else my 3 year old shouts "ITS MINE" when she doesnt want to share (sound familiar). I would hate to see you and your cronies at Old Trafford and wonder what must go through your head when you hear an Irish accent or see an Asian or Indian person you must be seething and wondering what the hell are they doing here.

You are a sad sad man and not a very nice person and like others on here I am ashamed to call you a fellow united supporter.

Manchester United would not be the club it is today without the following it gets worldwide. Here in Ireland the passion for United and Liverpool I may add is immense and the rivalry is as fierce as it is across the water we feel it just as much as ye do and we have a god given right to do so. I shall continue to support the club I love and am glad to say the warm welcome I get in manchester when I do go over is just amazing I dont feel like an outsider and no one has ever treated me that way I feel like part of the United family. I hope that people like you are well and truly in the minority.

RAINFISHTROMBONE,
I am not from Manchester, not even from England. I'm an American who loves Manchester United and I'll tell you why.

In the United States, we have some great sports and teams, but American football and the like just cannot hold a candle to the beautiful game, much as no team or franchise over here can come anywhere close to Manchester United. I often have to "sell" footie to my American friends who don't get it, and I always like to talk about how American teams are merely franchises, not clubs. Clubs embody a certain spirit and passion, and anyone familiar with this wonderful sport knows that there are clubs, and then there is Manchester United.

Our club is so much more than that. It is the strength that carried us from the snowy ground in Munich to the glory of '68. It's the belief that held us together after relegation and years without success. It's Old Trafford. It's not merely players or managers, but legends who bleed United red. Sir Matt. The Babes. Sir Bobby. Cantona. Sir Alex. Scholesy. Giggs. It's bringing the youth through. It's extra time at the Nou Camp. It's about being more than just a club.

When I was a young boy, my family's closest friends were a family from Manchester, all reds. They taught me everything about United: the history, the legends, etc. From the age of 6 in 1991, I was hooked and United has been the greatest passion in my life ever since. Every free moment I get, I'm usually checking one of many websites I follow to see if there's anything new, and I never miss a match unless my duties as a Naval officer prevent me from watching.

Rainfish, you are from Manchester, and I am not. That's a fact I won't dispute. If that makes you a "better" supporter, than so be it. Just remember that you have had the privilegeof access to the greatest club on Earth whenever you want, and there are people around the world who truly love United for all the right reasons who can only dream of walking through Old Trafford. I, myself, have never been; I couldn't growing up, and as an adult, every extra penny I've earned has had to go towards helping my family. Still, I never stop dreaming of the day I get to step inside the Theatre of Dreams, and it always brings a tear to my eye. You may not think I'm a legitimate supporter because I don't live within a stone's throw of Old Trafford, but the only thing that matters to me is that I know in my heart that Manchester United is my club and always will be. I know I'm not the only one.

To Rainfish, where the hell did you get that name from? Is it something to do with manchester? Anyway, replying seperate as reply to button not working for me moby. Here's my two cents. So let me get this straight. The club has a scottish manager most of its playing staff from other areas and countries but the fans are not allowed to be? If your that concerned mate pick up your little board. Hold a vigil outside old trafford and shout for alex out. Good luck in finding a decent manchester manager. Maybe you'd like to do it? god help us. For what its worth alex played for my home town. Had a fantastic scoring record. Won some fans in our family and we followed ever since. Just under fifty years support for him and his whole term at manchester we support them. Before the glory years. And if someone abroad has had there imagination captured by the history and playing style of our club. Good for them. It grants the club a stronger future. And what does it have to do with you? Each has their own choices. Fans are fans and wear the club in their hearts. Just to see the passion in their eyes tells me a true supporter. The worlds opened up and moving forward. Best to move with it. Cons red
