This time tomorrow we should know whether our policy of not strengthening midfield, not replacing the genius of Ronaldo has been justified.
We should not be sitting here worried about Phil Jones fitness as the key to tomorrow's game. It is now that our midfield will be tested. Two losses to Barcelona didn't bring the player into the middle we needed but this time it will be harder to deny, at home when we have a slight advantage to start with.
To me the first goal is important, although I feel Madrid will score two goals and we will need three.
Nothing is impossible and our club is based on that. We have always had spirit that enabled incredible feats. Barcelona in 84 Bayern in 99. We can do it tomorrow but it will take some doing

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Good post. First goal is vital IMO. If Real score first it plays right into their hands and they can try to pick us off for a 2nd or 3rd on the counter attack. We need to stay compact early on and have faith that we will score at least one during the 90 mins. If we score first they are still likely to get one or 2 but we are also more likely to hit them on the counter.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't recall any game this season where any team dominated our midfield home or away tomorrow we will witness the beginning of our latest great side take the next step to proving my point. Do not be surprised if we do not give a goal away and play a very controlled (midfield dominated)performance with Ryan Giggs having played some part.
Come on the lads!

Agree4 Disagree8

Red Man, how do you replace Ronaldo?

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Spurs dominated our midfield at It in first half, Everton in first game also did it. Fulham earlier this season also dominated our midfield when dembele was still with them. City did too in second half at it itihad.
Watching Anderson coming on as sub against Real and not keeping up with the pace of players who have been on the pitch for 80mins was quite embarrassing.
The midfield needs a total overhaul.

Agree0 Disagree1

Sydney!

Good question - I'm not sure it's possible to do so but certainly not with Valencia anyway! :)

HBadger

Agree0 Disagree0

Badger, that's what I mean. We bought Valencia & tried very hard for Benzema, but realistically who could have replaced CR7?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
You can't replace ronaldo man for man but in theory could we of blown 40 mill on a cm and 40 on a striker and try to compensate that way
Just for example the first 2 names that come in to my head could we of got schweinsteiger and benzama and reatained the standard of the first 11 that way

Agree1 Disagree0

Jred, the club were very close to sealing the Benzema deal. In the same financial year as Ronaldo was sold we signed Berbatov & Valencia and very nearly Benzema. That would have been a good £80m. I suspect back then the manager was hoping Hargreaves & Anderson would come good.

I cannot wait until tomorrow I can't be the only one. Have to wait the whole day before the whole thing gets going, I will be so nervous.

This is the day I've been looking forward to since the draw was made, the reason being a football fan is so exciting, the reason we all spend our days on this site hoping we can remain a massive club.

Manchester United v Real Madrid at the Theatre of Dreams, let's get behind the boys and make the atmosphere electric.

Come on you reds!

Believable15 Unbelievable2

I'll admit GDS I am excited as you about the game but seen as my pessimistic Views on the first game served us so well I'm going to predict we will get beat ;)

By the way we are a shocking 21/10 to win tomo! These betting sites have no faith haha

Agree1 Disagree0

I am going to be my pessimistic view as well :). I do rate our defense better than theirs and it will be decided by who can control the middle and feed their strikers with quality service as both sets of strikers can rip teams apart.

I hope I am wrong and will gladly take sh. t from everyone,

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Jono,

After last time you can predict a 5-0 defeat for all I care ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Cannot wait!
Perfect night would be Shinji Kagawa following up his hat-trick over Norwich with a crucial goal tonight, silencing me for the rest of the season!

I'm really nervous about the lack of Jones though. Nobody else can do his job against Ronaldo, IMO.

Our midfield need to really stand up, be counted and prove to us doubters that they are the men for the job.

United will fall behind by two, come back late and tie the match at two-two. Sadly United will go out on away goals.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Agree0 Disagree1

I am a real fan zee:) I always follow manchester UNITED

Agree1 Disagree0

Unfortunately, I had the misfortune of being born far from Manchester. But it's my dream to get to Old Trafford someday. And I'm secure in being a real fan. Weekend matches at dawn, weekday matches in the middle of work, and until the last few years it required luck on a computer or determination to find a bar with a satellite to see every United match. 15 years and counting, haven't missed one. Not hating on those at the matches at all, I'm jealous in fact. Here's to an incredible match tomorrow, and hopefully one we can celebrate and enjoy for a very very long time. Have fun.

"Paul was very happy here and will always have a place in his heart for the club and supporters"

KLOOT, I fear this comment will haunt you for a very long time.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

KLOOT he had at least 3 agents working for him, Mino and 2 French guys who are well known in football circles for the way they go about their business. He was always going. He will leave Juve by the following summer and keep hoping clubs every 18 months 2 years. If we don't bring through youngsters what about Rafa, Evans, welbeck, cleverly etc who may potentially all be starting tomorrow?

With jones out injured, who will do the job on ronaldo?
Without jones I think we will lose

Sulei

Believable0 Unbelievable17

Good to see some positivity.

Agree11 Disagree0

If we are clinical in front of goal we will win, if we are wasteful then we will lose.

Sydney!

Agree8 Disagree0

Not sure but fergie has known for long enough that jones might be unavailable so will have a plan b I'm sure.

Come on man have some faith and get behind the lads, we aren't going to lose because one player can't play!

Agree4 Disagree0

If he is 100% out and not a trick. Its not like Fergie doesn't have previous.

Agree0 Disagree1

Im trying to be positive but the 1 posistion in our whole squad that we lack in the dm posistion, only jones can play there! and without him and leaves a huge void against madrid. None of cleverly, anderson or carrick can do the job. Do you think fergie would play 1 of the cbs in the dm role possibly rio?

Sulei

Agree0 Disagree7

It is strange that Fergie declared the day before a major game that one key player isn't fit when he goes out of his way to hide it nearly every other time

Agree1 Disagree1

Exactly RM, I think its mind games.

Agree2 Disagree0

Personally I am hoping we get out of the traps quickly and put in a first half hour like the tie against Munich in 2010. Then if we can convince Rafael not to get himself sent off then job done ;)

TK-Red

Agree3 Disagree0

Jones will be missed, but I think someone like Evans might be a good option to track ronaldo. That will also mean that we can play Rio and vidic at CB's. Evans has a good head on him and has pace and control, so he'll do a good job if required. Let's face it, the way Rooney performed in the first leg, we were playing with ten men so I'm all for packing the midfield and stopping ozil and khadeira from playing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Funny I was thinking the same yesterday about Evans but did not want to post. He is not a natural midfielder but a pretty decent passer and has an engine on him. I hope fergie is bluffing and jones makes a remarkable recovery in the last 24 hours :)

rafael jones evans fabio

subs lindegaard smalling vidic clevs giggs hernandez young welbeck
outs evra ferdinand valencia and schoels retired
johnny evans is captain I know he is young but he has already played two season as first choice centre back beside ferdinand
paddy the irish man {Ed004's Note - I don't think Fabio is good enough tbh}

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Don't think nani will stay either.

I think Fabio needs regular games, so its either another loan or keep him to cover his brother

Agree1 Disagree0

Jones isn't ready to be our first choice CB yet. If he is at the club then Vidic is the one I would have playing alongside Evans.

put your money on borussia dortmund to win the cl, great side with the best current attacking manager in europe.
ps, or if you want a long shot, put your money on utd.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

Haha good joke (sarcasm) but in all seriousness Dortmund are very impressive. Apparently their net spend over the last decade is less than £20m which is incredible considering the fortunes being spent these days.

Agree4 Disagree0

At least Utd have odds, Liverpool's are non existent. Just like the possibility of scraping yourselves into at least 4th next season.

Agree6 Disagree0

Well I will not be betting on Loserpool to win anything: Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, and EPL. Amazing how you come on here slighting our club when your club is so insignificant.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Mar 2013 20:55:46
yes honeybadger, I think jurgen klopp has shown us at lpool the way to go, young players, attacking teams, offcourse there is more to it than that, but it proves money is not the most important thing in football, I think utd will beat real 3-2 by the way, but dortmund or bayern to lift the cup.

Agree1 Disagree0

Dortmund also openly admit to be a selling club (or have been in recent years to get where they are) - cashing in on the likes of Sahin and Kagawa (for big profits) to ensure finances remain stable, then keep bringing through promising youngsters and bargain transfers. So if Liverpool want to follow that model, perhaps it spells the end for Suarez?

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Mar 2013 22:16:57
i hope not honeybagger, luis would be hard to replace, but don't forget that next season the tv money doubles to around 3 billion in the premership, so maybe lpool can increase the anfield capicity and hold on to thier good players over the next few seasons, this together with our good youth system, and a good young manager in br, will maybe make us a real force again, I really hope this is the case anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think a Geman club will win, when it comes to crunch time I think they'll be left wanting. For me Barca, Real and Man Utd. Maybe even PSG are all a step ahead. Juve outside bet.

Ogbonna, strootman, lewandowski and lamela - In

Hernandez, Valencia - Out {Ed004's Note - Unrealistically Rooney, Nani and possibly Valencia/Young, in Strootman and Rodriguez /Gotze (if bale signed) covered by the outgoings then spend whole budget on Ronaldo or Bale and a left back}

Believable1 Unbelievable4

I don't think we'd sign 4 players with no premier league experience all in the same window.

Agree3 Disagree1

Though We did sign 4 players at the start of this season who had no EPL experience. Kagawa, buttner, nick powell and henriquez. T45

Agree2 Disagree2

To be fair T45, 3 of those 4 were never signed as first-team regulars.

We have a good enough big squad now, just a bit more quality needed in the first team, so the new signings will likely be bought with that in mind, and 4 guys with no experience of the EPL would take time to settle.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes but Powell was signed for the future, so was Henriquez, Buttner was signed for squad cover and Kagawa was never going to go straight into the starting 11.

Lewandowski would expect to start most games, so would Strootman and maybe Ogbonna.

hi ed004, who do u think saf should use for tommorw's game. zee:) {Ed004's Note - 4-2-3-1. Ge Gea, Rafael, rio and Evans, Evra, Carrick! Cleverley, welbeck, Rooney, kagawa and RVP}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

That's the side I tried to post earlier ed, I think Kagawa will play down the middle Rooney will back track more left/ welbeck will be right both helping the full backs. The only change I see being to that side is if Anderson starts ahead of cleverly but I can't see it.

Supasub

Agree1 Disagree0

I think valencia might start.

shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there is 2 Possibility

More Likely one is

Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverly
Valencia Rooney Kagawa
Rvp

That will allow Valencia to help and track back with Rafael. I think Saf might even bring Jones out of his hat.

Rafael Rio Evans Evra
Ando Carrick Cleverly
Kagawa RVP Rooney

The 2nd one would be safer and would contain the midfield. And on 2nd half depending on the score and how the game go. we can decide to bring any of Valencia, Welbeck, Nani, Giggs, Young or Chicha

Agree1 Disagree0

I think welbeck will play on the left and nani on the right -----------------------de gea----------------------rafael--evans----rio---evra------------nani---carrick---cleverly---welbeck-------------rooney---r v p---------------

Kloot you may be spot on reguarding Pogba becuase Ed001 said a good while back that united could lose younsgters in the youth teams due to uniteds reluctance to break their Wage structure.

Big Al

Believable4 Unbelievable6

So who have we lost?

2 local lads who were bad apples, 1 of which is very lucky he isn't having a nice holiday at Her Majesty's Hotel Strangeways, after a personal intervention by the manager.

And a French kid with a notorious agent who is already on his 4th club and still a teenager. {Ed004's Note - You have had a few good posts lately you really should leave a name mate}

Agree8 Disagree1

The club did break the wage structure for Pogba. Cleverley & Welbeck got £15k/£16k a week, Pogba was offered more.

Maybe he's shy ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

The words youth players and wage structure shouldn't be in the same sentence! Pogba may have had a good start at Juve but it already appears that his agent is sounding out city! Some will say United got what they deserved from Pogba but they developed him a hell of a lot better than Le Harve would have. Players come and go, some will turn out great some wont. Cleverly and Wellbeck are the example to the current crop, bide your time, learn you're trade and the rewards will follow.

Glad Norwich game is out of the way. Good win. Now for Real, I'm sure saf will be saying to our players to go out and win the game, I don't think we can go in with a negative attitude to get a goalless draw. We have to get on the pitch and win the game.
So I think saf will start with an attacking formation, so be prepared for a lot of goals and a lot of finger biting.
Good luck to the Reds.

Since his comeback, Vidic has started in 8 PL games. we've have conceded just 4 goals and kept 4 clean sheets.
Think this suggests he deserves a place in the back 4 tomorrow. An absolute leader.

As Ronaldo is back in Manchester again I was thinking about our squad next year and summer transfers. If Real were to sell Ronaldo with him supposedly deciding not to sign a new contract, if he came to us what would that mean for us transfer wise and squad wise next year. Here are my thoughts.

We should have the usual £50 million kitty plus money from sales.

Ronaldo would cost approx. £60million I would guess and then we would need the box to box cm people have been crying out for so that would require another £20million or so I would guess. Our outlay on these 2 would be approx £80 million.

Sales wise I would say Nani (£15m) will go as he won't agree a new deal. If we are bringing in a new cm I would say probably Anderson (£12m) may move on also. These 2 will bring in approx £27million to add to the £50m kitty so we would only need £3million extra to bring in the 2 players above. This would be made by selling bit part players and younger players like Bebe, Macheda etc. Wages would be saved by selling the above plus Scholes retiring, possibly Fletcher too so this wouldn't be a problem.

The depth of cover we would have in each position would then be as follows.

GK - DeGea, Lindegaard, Amos
RB - Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Valencia
LB - Evra (1 more year), Buttner, Fabio, Blackett
CB - Rio (1 more year), Vidic, Evans, Jones, Smalling, Keane
CM - New signing, Carrick, Cleverley, Jones, Powell,
Giggs (1 more year), Kagawa
LW - Ronaldo, Young, Giggs, Kagawa, Welbeck
RW - Valencia, Ronaldo, Young, Welbeck
CF - Van Persie, Rooney, Ronaldo, Hernandez, Henriquez,
Keane

I for one would be very happy with this depth per position next year plus we would have brought back 1 of the best players to ever grace our fantastic club. We would then have to address Rio, Giggs and Evra leaving summer 2014.

Now, I am not saying that I think this will definately happen but if it were to happen I think we would be a lot stronger next year than this year and we are doing amazingly well this year so we would be in a great position. We also have some very good youngsters coming through in the Keanes, Daehli, Tunnicliffe, Lingard, Blackett, Januzaj etc so we may not even need replacements for Evra, Giggs and Rio and could wait and replace Vidic at a later date who knows.

If this were to happen would people be happy? I'm not wanting to see everyone elses perfect scenario as let's face it we have no idea what Fergie will do but all I was interested in is if he decided the above would you be as excited as me for next season?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Meant to add that I have Welbeck as covering the wings as I don't think he is currently good enough for a central role. He has lots of energy but his touch and finishing aren't currently up to standard.

Brendan81

Agree4 Disagree0

No we still look too weak in midfield.

3 out in Scholes/ Fletcher/ Anderson and only 1 in. Not enough for me i'm afraid, I think we need 2 if those 3 all go.

Agree2 Disagree1

No name there is one thing that everyone can be certain of and that is that Fergie won't buy 2 midfielders this summer no matter who else we buy. He may keep Anderson for the 6 games a year we get out of him but personally i'd get rid, Fletcher hasn't played in ages anyway, Scholes is a bit part at the minute aswell. I think you might see Tunnicliffe getting more game time next season alongside Carrick, Cleverley, Powell, Giggs, Jones, Kagawa and the new signing that i'm pretty sure we will finally get. I personally think we will be ok with this and want to give 1 or 2 younger guys a go as we have some useful players coming through.

Brendan81

Agree2 Disagree0

We will have a good £60 million to spend I think. Nani leaving will fetch £15 million. For a squad next year:

GK: De Gea, Lindegaard, Johnstone.

RB: Rafael, Jones, Smalling, Fabio,

LB: Evra, Fabio, Buttner.

CB: Evans, Ferdinand, Vidic, Smalling, Jones.

CM: Strootman, Carrick, Cleverly, Anderson, Jones, Powell, Giggs.

RW: Valencia, Kagawa, Zaha, Welbeck.

LW: Ronaldo, Young, Kagawa, Giggs, Welbeck.

CF: Van Persie, Ronaldo, Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck.

There will be youngsters included of course. But I think the Keane's will get EPL loans. Petrucci and Tunnicliffe might be let go, same as Lingard. However Blackett and Januzaj may step up until January before going out on loan.

Budget allowing, Begovic to replace Lindegaard.

That would be my plan anyway. {Ed004's Note - I would love to see Ronaldo signed though think it is unlikely. However a summer of Rooney, Nani and possibly one of Valencia or young sold with Rodriguez, Strootman and possibly Baines being covered by the fees for both Nani and Rooney then spend our whole budget on Ronaldo. A front four of Rodriguez kagawa Ronaldo and RVP would be brilliant.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Tunners will be on loan either full season in the Championship or half season in the Prem. If he stays he'll only play cup games depending on the draw.

Powell will also most likely get a Prem loan.

Giggs has shown this season he can still do a job on the left but not in the centre.

Kagawa will play No 10 not in midfield.

Anderson should go.

I think we'll sign Strootman, but I have to say that we could do with 1 other if Scholes, Fletcher and Anderson all do depart

I think all the normal brains can think lot many things togather. So even while concentrating on real game, u cn think nd discuss other issues.

And may be u don't care for pogba, but lots of people in here would like to keep track of quality footballers. and he is a quality.

So with news that Jones is not available, who takes on the role? Cleverly?

Shahram

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Must not get too fixated with cr7. Real have got a lot of other good players. My thoughts, if we go out and play to our strengths then we should be OK and can get the win we need.
I don't think real have got a great defence, so let's test them.

Agree1 Disagree0

This is where we are short, Strootman would be just what we need now.

If Jones doesn't play then Cleverly must start IMO. Not a straight switch obviously but then we don't have a direct replacement for Jones.

Agree0 Disagree0

The post was not about CR7 but a who will do the bruising midfield work against Alonzo and Khedira. in the first game jones put himself about and gave us some muscle in the middle of the pitch and he has great pace for a big guy.

I am very nervous and worried. Whatever happens I hope we give a good account of ourselves and stand proud.

ed, with us only having 10 games left and been on 71points and city only been able to manage 89points, when it get less risky what do you think the odds of players like Amos, Johnstone, Vermijl, Powell, Tunnicliffe, Van Velzen, Daehli, Perreria, Januzaj, Lingard, Cole, Keane and Thorpe getting some game time and experiance in the premier league.

We wanted to play fletcher when he was 16 {Ed004's Note - I hope a few of those players get some game time if we win the premiership and there are any spare games. Tuncliffe is on loan I think Amos will be sold and Powell will hopefully get a few games}

Due to work, I found myself in Dudley today so I took the opportunity to visit Dudley cemetery and pay my respects at the grave of Duncan Edwards. I would recommend this pilgrimage to any United supporter as it is a very moving experience. There was a beautiful bunch of red and white flowers in a vase and still plenty of messages from the 21st. There is also a big statue of Duncan in Dudley town centre as well as a pub and a street named after him. God bless you Duncan

Kloot, good post. Your knowledge of United's history is always good to read (if not some of your other posts ;).

Tomorrows ref is Cüneyt Çakır, anyone seen him ref before?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Turkish, Refereed Chelsea away to Barca last year. I hope he's not under a uefa directive to be soft on Spanish teams. Can be a bit card happy if my memory serves me right.
Also news that jones is out of the clash is a big loss I think, not sure who else can do the exact same job.

Just read that city is targeting pogba. I am sure lots of people in here can remember the fear I have shown after his transfer that its viera behind the scene for this and he wil take him to city. As he can't move there straight away juve wil be the stepping stone then he will move to city so he don't suffer fan's wrath. Viera still has great relation there and how he engineered that move.

Last year I have posted this. Now rumours are started gathering that he may join city.

I know its peper talk and far from real but still looks like my guessing could be true here.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Pogba could have moved straight to City in the summer if he chose to. He couldn't give a monkey's about the fans.

Sydney!

Agree6 Disagree0

Nobody. Cares. About. Pogba.

We have a match against Real Madrid tomorrow and the biggest 2 weeks of our season coming up, and people are still banging on about a player who made 3 sub appearances for the first team.

Sorry rodio this isn't just aimed at you as I know you did say stuff about him and city a while ago, but it's not the time to be discussing players who didn't want to be at the club and there are posts about him on here every time he makes a 30 yard pass.

Agree6 Disagree5

Rodio don't listen to these two. You make some very good points. Pogba will turn out to be a fabulous midfielder just in the mould that we needed. Unfortunately for whatever reasons he had, Sir Alex wouldn't play him and brought Scholes out of retirement and put him in the team in front of him. Paul was very happy here and will always have a place in his heart for the club and supporters I just feel he feels insulted by the way he was treated and the wages he was offered. Sydney I am surprised by you. You normally are so knowledgeable about our youth sides and I am sure you know about the policy to have them on low wages and the problems this has caused. Pogba was not treated well by the club and there has been some very clever press leaks to make it look like he was being greedy.

Agree5 Disagree4

So how much do u think we should pay an unproven 18yr old KLOOT? Wot ever happened to earning the right to wear the shirt u go on about so much?

Syd.
If u remember whn rooney was uncertain with his contract hooded people threatened him from joining city. So I guess pogba or viera didn't wanted off field trouble for the lad so he moved to juve. whr viera was playing at sometime.

Nw whn he is juve player he can move as we all say money talks.

Klooty boy has to try to make everything into a Glazer / SAF hate fest, surprised you didn't try to blame Rooney (spurred on by that nefarious Mr Gill)as well!

Agree2 Disagree3

Yes you are so right Mike what we pay players and our youth strategy has nothing to do with the Glazers. Would you like to buy some magic beans or how about London bridge

Agree2 Disagree1

Lol Mike, now you mention it I too am surprised Pogba leaving isn't somehow down to Rooney's poor first touch (according to the mighty one).

Agree3 Disagree0

Kloot, Pogba treated badly? Offered £25k a week to stay, nearly £10k a week more than any other United youth graduate has ever been offered at this club. Listen to the editor, he has already said playing time and a weekly salary was not why he left the club. He was badly advised to leave the club by his agent. He was hawking him around Europe long before Scholes come back. He was always going to leave the club.

That being said he is what we are missing and he is a magnificent player. He will be the best on this planet for his position within 2/3 years.

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree0

Pogba left because we didn't give him game time. I can't believe someone saying "unproven 18 year old"! You could see that pogba was the real deal, saf just would not play him! Then he tried to keep him by which time it was too late.
If he now goes to city then we only have ourselves to blame.
A lot of posters want to pay millions for cabaye, strootman, wanayama etc, while we had pogba here and he would have cost nothing.
Big cockup by saf and the club are trying to make out that pogba was greedy etc. They should just admit the mistake and get on with it.

Agree2 Disagree5

No name, so if it was down to playing time then why was his agent hawking him around Europe in the summer time a year before he left? Did he have a crystal ball and did he foresee the manager not playing him?

Pogba is good, but he isn't a psychic.

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree1

No name above, that was me that said he was unproven, prove me wrong then, what did he prove to u in the 3 years he was with us except he was a really good reserve team player? What a muppet u are! If we gave huge contracts to every exciting youth player we have we would of been skint by now!
You know not all players that look really good in the reserves can make it at top level, ok pogba has had a good first season with juve, I really couldn't care less mate, he didn't wanna stay, went chasing the quick £'s instead of showing any commitment to our club and fighting and earning a first team spot.
As kloot has said many times u have to show u are worthy to wear the united shirt, and as sir alex says if u work hard show commitment and improve the money will come to u!
The whole pogba saga left a bad taste in my mouth when we took him from le harve in the first place and tbh having an agent like riola only spells trouble anyway so in a way i'm glad he gone, although he is going to be a very good player it seems atm, but let's give him 10 years before we start ruing our loss!

KLOOT,
I can't believe such drivel from someone who clearly knows a lot about United in general, utter cr@p but then I think you know that deep down.

My favourite bit - "Paul was very happy here and will always have a place in his heart for the club and supporters". LOL when did you become such a sap? So Pogba was playing for the shirt was he? That is a classic.

Also, was Pogba starting games before the January when Scholes came out of retirement? What has Scholes to do with anything.

Does an 18 year old with hardly any first team experience deserve a wage of £30k+ p/w or should he not have to prove he deserves it first?

In the words of SAF "When you play for Manchester United the money finds you". In other words, perform well and you will be rewarded with good wages. Perform better and you will be rewarded with better wages. Surely this is the only sensible way to run a football club.

I find your opinion on the Pogba situation highly hypocritical given your opinion on Rooney! Would love you to explain that one but I know you can't.

The answer is clearly - whatever you can use to have a swipe at the running of the club you will. Whether that be a player who's greed we should not give into or a player who's greed we shouldn't!

HBadger

Agree5 Disagree0

Noname you're talking rubbish. As per Syd's reply. So when Giggs and Scholes emerged as future stars did we offer them silly wages higher than that of some of the first team? Or did we offer them a decent wage for youngster's THEN reward them AFTER they'd proved themselves? There's a difference between PROMISING and PROVEN you see. Dear me.

Agree1 Disagree1

I'm sure he'll be a good player but if that's his attitude and with that agent it'll come a cropper at some point.

Meanwhile i'm sure we'll find some other kid somewhere just as good to get over it.

So only just managed to catch the highlights from the Norwich game. and from what I saw I was fairly content! Obviously Kagawa getting the hat trick is fantastic, fingers crossed his form continues to improve towards the end of the season!

From what I saw, Anderson appeared to do a solid enough job in the center, I could maybe even see him making an appearance against Madrid!

Didn't see too much of the defense on the MOTD highlights so anyone let me know how they performed?

The more I watch Rooney and RVP link up, the less I think we need a striker this summer. in fact i'd love to incorporate Kagawa into an attacking 3 of a 4-3-3 formation. maybe with him on the left, Rooney the right and RVP down the center. the link ups and interchange would be fantastic!

Really looking forward to the Madrid game this week. a confident and deep squad with the vital away goal should make for an interesting match!

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Highlights do not give a good impression of the game in this case- for 70 minutes rooney was awful

Agree7 Disagree10

You did'nt see much of the defence cause Norwich only had 1 shot from outside the box and it was blocked
Andy H

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney was average at best and so was the team, with the exception of kagawa.
Real will be different as they will attack us at will just like spurs did when they came here. If we leave midfield open, then we'll be slaughtered.

Agree3 Disagree2

Rooney had a poor first half but excellent second half. I will take a goal and 2 assists any time and forgive him for everything else. Tomorrow he can cement his legacy by a big performance.

"The age I am at now is the time when most players start to peak, " Rooney said. "From now and across the next four or five years. Hopefully that will be the case and the team will benefit from that.

"I haven't played as many games as I normally would have at this point in the season and I do feel fresh and ready for that battle until the end of the season.

"It has been a bit of a stop-start season for me with a couple of injuries, which has been a bit disappointing. I just want to keep myself fit until the end of the season now and play a part in as many games as I can to help the team be successful. "

Believable6 Unbelievable12

Come on Wayne you know as well as the rest of us that you peaked a long time ago. The medical staff and sports scientists at the club would have told you this, that is their job after all. It's time to adapt my friend, if anyone has the ability and talent to do it you can.

Sydney!

Agree15 Disagree9

Syd
You go on and on about Rooney peaking years ago, in fact I don't think there has been a single thread on Rooney this year when you've missed the chance to say it.
I personally think it's a far bigger question, he hasn't reached the level a lot were expecting but his game has changed a lot but I've gone through this a lot defore and have no wish to do so again.
I was wondering why it's so important to you that he peaked years ago.

Also you keep going on about selling him and if it's true he only has 2 years left on his contract (I find it strange that this hasn't really been mentioned if it is true, compare it to all the talk about ronaldo) a decision will need to be made.
But have you seen any sign that fergy is going to sell Rooney, any sign that Rooney isn't one of the first names on the teamsheet. Any talk of contract issues or any talk that United are thinking about selling Rooney.

Whilst at the club Rooney will always be one of the first names on the team sheet. I think Fergie publicly forgave him for the good of the team but privately is a different matter. I suspect Fergie will have the last laugh. Mort.

Sydney you were right we saw the best of him a long time ago
