First chance to post since the weekend, well we are winning games in a variety of ways aren't we and winning wether we've played well or not. The attacking intent is always there tho.
More importantly at no point in the Southampton game did I think we wouldn't win, when we was 1-0 down and pegged back to 2-2 I just believed we would win the match, that's a massive shift in my midnset and I'm sure most fans, and obvs that's the players mindset now too.
We go to Paris next and while it seems unlikely we will progress a famous European night would not shock me, all of which is massive compliments to Ole, Mick, Kieran and Carrick, I have not had this belief since the day Fergie left.
Ok we've not played scintillating stuff for a few games now but to keep on winning with so much injury disruption is amazing, 3 points off spurs and 12 off the top when we was what 11/ 12 off 4th at one point, if there was another half dozen games to go on top of the 9 I'd be quietly thinking of reigning city in haha, momentum is such a key thing and I feel this is the first time we've had sustained momentum in a very very long time.
I think Ole is nailed on now regardless and while he may he inexperienced and I know people will have reservations if the boys continue to fight for the cause like they have been then there is no reason, with a few additions in certain areas we cannot challenge next season.

Totally agree Welsh.

Ole and the coaches have turned Utd around.
He has shown that he can motivate players and he has been tactically astute in some games.

You can’t win all the games that he has and say it is just down to raising the mood of the players. It’s more than that.

The question is when he is named as permanent manager will he change any of the coaching staff? Will he want Phelan and if so will he want to stay. Presume he would want Carrick and McKenna.

We now have belief that we can win games and beat anyone. Top 4 and the FA Cup are more important than the CL for us this season. I only say that as we are a couple of players light of being able to compete with the top sides in Europe. Thus even if a miracle happened in Paris we are very likely to come unstuck going forward.
Despite that it is great that the team go to Paris with belief and it will be a good football lesson for the younger players.

PSG are a great team. We were well and truly beat in the first leg but I'm still looking forward to the game. If we can score the first goal then it's game on.

Spurs have been dragged into the battle for top 4 too which is crazy considering where us, arsenal and Chelsea were 2 months ago. The most pleasing aspect of our games is how we've played when we've come up against adversity. The fans deserve a huge amount of credit for driving the team on too. They've been nothing short of spectacular!

Yes, if we score the first goal early on, the game will be very interesting.

I fear for the midfield.
Our first choice trio of Pogba, Herrera and Matic are out.

It will be the first ever time Fred, Andreas and Mctominay will be lined up together.

Good post Welsh. Unfortunately I can’t see us getting the win against PSG on Wednesday. We have our whole midfield out and I can’t see our second string beating a top side at home. However, I want to see us got out and there play to win. To go out there and put all their effort into overturning this deficit.

I agree that there seems to be a harmony with the back room staff. It will be interesting to see if Phelan stays beyond the season. I would like us develop either McKenna or Carrick as our next manager. Both know what it means to be part of our club and should be groomed as the next manager. We should aim to go down a similar route Barcelona have down by promoting coaches from within. Each manager should have the values and traditions of the club instilled in them.

Psg are a top team, playing at home with a 2 goal cushion its a huge ask especially with our injuries .

Psg away is the longest of long shots but you never know odd results do happen.
We have a brutal injury list and can't field any of our 1st choice midfield 3 and we will possibly be missing 2 of our 3 preferred forwards.
Ole will probably change the system to a front 2 which lukaku iterates better in.
We could see the likes of jones play in a defencive midfield role alongside fred and mctom with periera playing at the tip of the diamond.
But if martial is available i can see a front 3 of martial lukaku and rash with mctom fred and periera in midfield.

Get a goal first and they may get twitchy but i expect their class to tell in the end.

{Ed002's Note - Results happen in all games Ken. I predict a result against PSG.}

04 Mar 2019 19:51:10
Yes ed002 i think that's a fair prediction😂😂 i'm hoping for an unusal or odd result. If we win away at psg with these injuries i think that would be an odd result.

Ed002. You seem to be very happy today.
Can you tell me if any clubs are interested in morgan sanson from Marseille he was held in high regard i believe by many . How has his season been and is there any interest from united?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am always very happy Ken. Spurs and Arsenal have shown an interest in the past - but that was 18 months ago when he moved to Marseille. Right now, they do not want the sell, so no one is looking.}

Cheers ed002. I think he is a good player. If they are not looking to sell i'm not surprised.
Have a good evening.

Ed do you agree about Pep's claim of psychological issue? Would have thought it is more of a physical issue. But with Pep's rotation system (a fantasy headache), the effect of the 28 games in 93 days shouldn't be such a strain on these 2 players.

{Ed001's Note - he said physiological, not psychological mate.}

Gueye would be a good matic replacement

He has a great engine too.

His ability on the ball is just like McTominay. Can't pass forward.
Not united quality imo.

It depends on what you want from a defensive/ holding midfielder. Do you want someone to just break up play then make a simple pass or do you want someone who can create from deep and control the tempo of a game?

I think at the top level you need someone who can create and control the tempo as you shouldn't have to worry too much about breaking up the opposition as you should have the ball and control of the game most of the time. In which case a player like Gueye would be a passenger 90% of the time as he can't contribute to the offensive side of the game.

Gueye is decent but shappy is right. If we want to compete with the best I think we need a ball playing defensive midfielder. Basically we have never replaced Carrick. We need to improve our build up play from the back, especially against the big sides. We have lindelof already and someone like koulibaly next to him would improve that. Then a neves would be a fantastic addition.

Park; I think Matic replaced Carrick even if for a short term.

Gueye is bang average. No better than some of our deadwood. We need top drawer signings not another average squad player.

That’s a good point mbd. I’m a big fan of matic but we need to rotate him more next year to avoid him burning out.

McTominay replaces Matic, Gana replaces McTominay.

As stated above by some already, I think Gueye is quite overrated. He puts up decent to good defensive numbers but is very limited on the ball and not that great in the air. To add to that he is nearing 30 so there isn't that big a chance of improvement so I give a pass.

If we want to sign a Defensive midfielder from the league I think Ndidi at Leicester would be a better choice, younger, a bit better on the ball, better in the air. But do we need just a destroyer type player or a more rounded DM?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 07:38:38
I agree with you Deependra. I think Ndidi is very talented with room to get even better. He's a destroyer in there in the mould of a Kante. I know it's fantasy but Neves beside him spraying the passes and Pogba in front of them is my dream midfield trio for the next few years. Would obviously cost big money but I think signing them two midfielders would be astute business.
