I really hope we don't do something stupid like sell kagawa or trade him for a player who's been out for best part of a season and would be a risky signing. Kagawa and Mata are starting to get an understanding and would be stupid to break it up.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They are slowly coming together, also gelling more with Januzaj.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's that modern style of football where ideally you want 3 players behind a striker who can all play in each others positions, switch about and keep a creative and fluid attack going. That's what we saw against Newcastle, really makes me wonder I think one of Rooney/RvP has to go. Likely it being RvP.

I for the first time am actually going to defend Moyes and say hats of to him he has got his tactics spot on against Newcastle West Ham Aston Villa and Bayren maybe with a little confidence he can pick the team up and win every game from now to the end of the season I mean in the league for those of you who thought I was thinking we would win the Champions League which in my mind isn't impossible as it looks

If I am being honest I don't want to see Ferdinand Evra Vidic or Young near the first team again Valencia is the exception as cover and should stay past the summer Giggs has a game or two to play before he should retire Lindegaard showed today why he is a good second choice keeper well capable of playing in any game but not De Gea standard Smalling and Jones could form a partnership for 10 years and should be givin the time to it Mata is a world class number 10 and should play there Kagawa is a inverted left winger and plays better in a team with Mata and Januzai Januzai is the right sided player we need Fletcher has a big part to play and should be captain for the rest of the season

Believable0 Unbelievable0

At the moment, Vidic offers experience and leadership, our best defender in European games, Giggs and Rio are much too far past their best. Evra not sure, Buttner not all that much better. Young and Valencia also offer good cover and both have gotten a few important goals and assists this year. Also they offer a lot more defensively than Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a squad game, Young and Valencia being different skills, they are more hard working and have more pace. Both will be here next season I think. Nani won't and nor will Zaha.

Good result with plenty of positives to take from the game. Really pleased to see Lindegaard get a game and play well when called upon!

Also really enjoy the Mata/Kagawa connection two really smart footballers, unfortunately I don't believe DM will stick with Kags next season.

I am really looking forward to the summer hopefully some real quality is brought in. Just hope no repeat of last year.

And here's to hoping Mr Fellaini comes good *Its good to dream* haha!

Up the reds - Buzzing for midweek!

Cheers folks

United have a 100% win record when Kagawa plays the full 90 min.

Also, Lallana better than Shinji? leave it out. flavour of the month like Tiote was a few seasons back.

great performance from the lads today. fellaini? stil not convinced. but plenty of the lads gave the manager something to think about from GK all the way to the striker

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think Moyes has found the connection with United team and I believe henceforth we are now in the winning driving mode, Mata should not be changed to the wing, he is excellent as an attacking midfielder, in the summer I belive we only need a left back, 2x centre backs and a central midfielder. only

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Apr 2014 17:31:47
Who was your man of the match. Mata? Kagawa? Jones? Lindegard? For me it has to be Shinji. he's in quite some form, hope he starts against Bayern

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mata and Shinji dominated the show, they both play better when the others on the pitch because they're so similar in the way they play that it's easier for them to find space and harder for the other team to track, constantly wondering all over the pitch. You can tell they both rate each other highly.

Where do we fit Rooney and van Persie in that team? The 3 of Januzaj kagawa and mata are so fluid, the movement is enjoyable to watch.

Don't know about you boys but thought some of the football we played, was sublime and great to watch.

I realise some will say Newcastle was very poor but I prefer to look at how well we passed the ball and just killed the game.

Everyone played very well with the exception of Evra, however he looks like he is starting to break down given the volume of football he has played this year.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

A very good win against a tricky team! We're clearly growing and improving each game. Well done to the boys and the Manager today.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree cgu! I think that is the best I have seen us play this year. We passed it very well and it was good to see players one touches and moving the ball quickly which is in total contrast to what we have done so far this season.
Kagawa and mata were at the middle of all good things and I thought fellaini played well too as did fletcher. Januzaj was a vast improvement on young. And we have to keep chicaritto as he gives us a different dimension.
Well done to the players and the manager. A vast improvement on what we've seen so far this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick86/nomid

Mata and Kagawa give us 2 excellent creative players and it seems like there is always one involved in everything good that we did. I thought Hernandez was also very good with his movement.

I thought fletcher and fellaini were very good and it looks like fletcher is finally getting his legs back.

It will be interesting to see what we do come wednesday and who plays. Bayern lost today for the first time in yonkers but fielded a second string team.

I hope we do not play Evra, he looks like his legs are gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ev's legs went 3-4 seasons ago.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope we can use this kind of formation in the last games. We need to have criativity up there in front to be able to score goals.

One of the biggest problem this year is that we always tried to avoid defeat even against smaller teams and got exactly what we deserved.

Now we have nothing to lose, so, 3 criative players behind the striker and 2 behind the 3 will score us plenty of goals and consequently we'll win games.

I still think that with this squad, 4th place should be the lower we should get. But right now this win against Newcastle was really delicious.

Way to go.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the fact we have to score against Bayern will be good for us and make us more positive. So it should be a good game. Bayern are very good but they're not invincible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nomidfield

Agree, also momentum is important and Bayern seem to have lost theirs after winning the league, whilst we have a little from the last couple of games.

Agree0 Disagree0

What are the chances of us getting away with Mata playing against Bayern in Rooney's shirt wearing a shrek mask?

Agree0 Disagree0

It is funny but I am of the opinion that if we have a transfer window in January then anyone who has a permanent move at that time should be allowed to play in any competition regardless of whether they have played in it for someone else previously. Otherwise it isn't a true transfer window.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata superb today, such a pity he is cup tied. Chico played a blinder also. Although he won't start against Bayern. That 4th was something special and i'm hoping Januzaj starts against Bayern, I know he offers nothing defensively but we have to score in Germany more then likely at least twice.

Have we just finally hit a vein of form? Can we do what many thought impossible? i'm not going to get too confident but we have zee Germans rattled, let's get this done, give us something to cheer about this season.

Mick1 lallana is a superb player that should be playing CL football. I cannot rate him highly enough. Not better than kawaga? i'm not wasting my time on a such a poor and incorrect conclusion. The boy loves Southampton and both he and club are happy as things stand

Believable0 Unbelievable0

All I see you do is talk the team down, so I had a little click on your name and you certainly don't seem to be a Manchester United supporter, or not a very good one at least. Something tells me you have a thing for Liverpool.

That said - this season, perhaps due to playing time and Lallana fighting for a world cup place whilst Kagawa pretty much has his cemented, he is performing better than Kagawa. Ultimately, Kagawa is a better player than Lallana.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think both of you are exaggerating your points.

I've followed Lallana since his loan spell at Bournemouth and he's a terrific player.

He's by far England's best winger and I would go as far as to say one of the best wide men in the league.

He's a different breed of player, what you tend to find is that players either have god gifted talented or incredible work-rate. It's very rare you find a player with both. Well, Lallana has both. his footwork is sublime and his passing, finishing and general all round play is pin point.

I would love him at United. My only concern is that his best position this season has been on the right handside, when we're most in need on the Left.

Is he going to be on par with Ronaldo? hell no. But I believe he's certainly good enough to make the sort of progress that Sturridge has made at Liverpool (although a different player, in a different position, I'm talking about the way he's stepped up).

Would I take him? In a heart beat.
But I wouldn't pay a penny over £20M.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoping Moyes takes note of how well Mata and Kagawa are playing in this formation.Definately the way forward. Why buy Lallana?Sure he's an excellent player but we need other positions filling.Imagine a Vidal, Rakitic, Kroos or, dare I say it, Pogba playing in this formation.Chuck in a quality left back and a couple of defenders, definitely exciting. But how On earth do you accommodate van Persie and Rooney.Rooney hasn't been missed today has he?

Agree0 Disagree0

When you have the likes of Kagawa, Mata, Januzaj, even Nani in the team, they will put some nice stuff together. In all likeliness Nani and Kagawa will be sold in the summer, both will go on and be exceptional players in their new teams. It's a real shame that we have started playing some nice football this late into the season. If only Moyes trusted Kagawa from the start. With a few good signings this summer and RvP staying fit, we will be a stronger side next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I think Kagawa will stay now tbh}

Ay3,

Just read some of Als posts as well, he seems to be a fan or Liverpool and Southampton, certainly not a united fan and seems to take great pleasure in having a go at our fans and making out we are all stupid for having a differing opinion.

What point are you trying to prove al, are you a united fan or just a terrible WUM?

Great win today, we have finally hit some form a bit late in the season, such a shame we aren't in a position to finish top 4, I think we are going to finish pretty close to it and be gutted we dropped point against west brom and stoke etc. The games against the big boys are the reason we aren't winning the league but if we had played better against the smaller teams I think top 4 would be right in our grasp.

Mata showed us how he can play and the one touch football was superb, maybe we should sell Rooney and rvp, clearly don't need either of them ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

004, I don't think Moyes judges whether or not he is going to keep a player on a game by game basis. I think Moyes may have already made his mind up. We all know what Kagawa is capable of and if we bought very attacking fullbacks, he is the perfect player to have alongside Mata and Rooney.

Agree0 Disagree0

@Sydney!

I think Kagawa might stay.

To get the best out of him you need players like Mata, Nani around him who like playing one touch stuff. We didn't have that at the start.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is getting ridiculous, Kagawa is a 2 time bundesliga winner, best player for 2 years running in Germany ahead of players such as Lewandowski, Goetze, Gundogan, Kroos, Robben, Ribery, Gomez, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, ( should I go on? ).

Before coming here, Kagawa was a world class player. We were actually having a discussion over whether we should get Kagawa or Hazard ( I recall my opinion at the time was that Kagawa is the better player, while Hazard is younger and has more potential ).

And since I can say that I watch the bundesliga quite often, and I have been for the last 5 odd years, I can fairly say Kagawa is/was a much better player than Lallana.

Ferguson wanted to bring Kagawa and build the team around him, with Rooney as a striker, but then RVP became available and we a know how that turned out.

Just because Lallana has performed better than Kagawa this season it does not mean he is a superior player, ot means Kagawa is struggling to adapt to the league, and more importantly, to David Moyes.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMO Kagawa is not going anywhere syd. Rebuilding is about bringing in better players and keeping your good players.

I am looking forward to the summer and genuinely think we will get some high quality players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Anyone else beginning to think Cleverley could be sold? There were rumours Martinez and Everton were interested. He is hardly featuring ATM and I think Moyes wants two midfielders such as Carvalho and Kroos/Gundogan}

I think Ferguson wanted to sell Rooney. There was definitely interest in Lewandowski. As it turned out, he chose Bayern and van Persie became available. The rest is history.I would of loved to have seen Kagawa AND Lewandowski at United. They are a top quality partnership, almost telepathic. We would of smashed the league this year with them up top and the money from Rooney's sale invested in the midfield, things would be very different, with or without Moyes.
It is going to be interesting to see how Moyes takes things from here. Some players have sent a very strong message.I hope Moyes listens.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004

Are you teasing us because you know what some of us think about Mr. Cleverly around here :)

Watching Fletcher take responsibility for moving the ball forward and not being scared of holding on to it and being positive, makes me wonder when and where cleverly will play especially after the summer with the additional players coming in.

The only reason we keep him would be if we are short of our quota for home grown players. We also have Powel coming back.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Oh I know of nothing concrete just a suspicion. Hoping Moyes plan for next season is Carrick, Fletcher, Fellaini covering Vidal/Carvalho and Gundogan/Kroos. In an ideal world I think a perfect summer is one if each of Benetia/Garay/Mangala, Shaw/Carvalho, Vidal/Bender/Carvalho, Gundogan/Kroos/Rakitic/Koke, Reus/Di Maria/Sanchez/Griezmann. Btw each are in order of preference. Though Gundogan only if he is 100% fit and Sanchez if barca ban is retracted or appealed}

ED 004:God I hope so, I really do.I feared that the pathetic petition might have caused Moyes to back Cleverly to the hilt and give him a silly money, five year contract.I think he needs the move really as he isn't progressing at all.Good luck to him if he does go though.

Agree0 Disagree0

004, no I don't think he will be sold. In fact I think he will sign a new deal.

Shahram, I think Kagawa will be sold if a decent enough offer is made.

But just because Moyes would sell him doesn't mean he will be sold.

Same goes for Hernandez. I think both will be available for sale, but could stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed004

That is some list mate and I don't see it happening but even if we got 4 players in Lb, CB, CM, LW I would be delighted.

I don't think Vidal will happen because Juve will sell Pogba and keep Vidal.

Carvalho and Kroos and I can also see us moving for Reus. CB Mangala or Garay and Shaw at left back.

There is also a good possibility that 1 or 2 PSG midfielders who will be available.

It will also be interesting to see what Uefa does about the City and PSG financials and what I consider related party transactions that stink to high heaven.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - it is some list I don't think many are possible ie Benetia, Vidal and Sanchez etc won't be. Just offering back up options. I feel we could be seeing quite a few departures Rio, Vidic, Evra, Cleverley, Anderson and Nani, along with possibly Nani, Young, Kagawa (Hope and praying he won't go wouldn't blame him) and Hernandez with possibly Rooney/RVP leaving. A player who has impressed me massively this season is Sneiderlin}

Ed004

Speaking of our targets. Watching sporting against paco. Carvalho scored but this is a really poor league and for his size he can move pretty good.

Bebe has had a couple of screamers and the boy can shoot.

I know people might laugh at this but bebe has gotten better and we will get a better price for him when we sell him.

I think Herrera and Pjanic from Roma would be good options as well.

Wilson on the bench today. How good a player could he be?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Delighted to see Wilson on the bench. Hope there is an opportunity for him to get a few minutes

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he gets on the pitch at some point, but I doubt he will.

Agree0 Disagree0

Looking forward to seeing Jones and Smalling at CB again. I think it's clear that this is a second team out today. It's obvious who will play against BM.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wondered if Wilson would be among the subs today, pleasantly surprised hopefully he gets a run out

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, you say its obvious who will play wednesday, who do you think will start Lb? Hoping Buttner keeps his place. And would you think Kagawa will come in instead of Giggs?

Agree0 Disagree0

Buttner will certainly play and Kagawa after his recent improvement will almost certainly start too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney

Kagawa is a mobile player that Munich know can damage them so I hope he plays Wednesday.

Great result today let's hope we can take the confidence into Wednesdays game and the Everton one when it matters. We have some momentum at a time when Munich have lost theirs. Kagawa can make a difference

Agree0 Disagree0

Told you all Wilson was not far of the first team and what did most say that he was not good enough and probably never will be. Well the humbell pie is cooking and when he arrives and shows the world we now have the best talent to ever grace Old Trafford including the greats like Ronaldo and Best. Nicky Butt and Scholes have said this them selves not just me. And thank god in this time of supper rich oil people making it harder and harder to get world class players that we have a glut of world class talent coming out the academy, very good times ahead from players that have come from within

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice to see Red Man has been made happy by Moyes today it is a very proud moment in time I was told Moyes had tears in his eyes when given the news

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone else beginning to think that Kate might be Wilson's mother or PR manager.?

Agree0 Disagree0

Kate, people said the same about Pogba and look at him now. Wilson will be a good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

People said the same about Pogba and he has gone on to become one of the best cm in world football the difference is Wilson will never look for a move and is even better than Pogba which is great news for us

Agree0 Disagree0

Never seen the boy play and hope he is as good as you guys say. It would be a massive advantage if we could actually get a couple of top players coming through the system rather than buying everything.

Agree0 Disagree0

Buttner and Kagawa both have to play in Munich Buttner is twice as good as Evra is and that's not saying much Kagawa can hurt Munich Welbeck also has to play and probably Januzai Fletcher instead of Fellani for me to

Agree0 Disagree0

Check him out on Youtube Shaz, I'm sure there will be some clips.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not in touch with the youngsters so intrigued about what sort of player Wilson is. Sure plenty can shed some light!?

Even if he didn't get in, being in and around the dressing room and sitting on the bench is great experience for the lad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the chance of Wilson coming on vs Newcastle was always slim but that changed when Young had to come off.

Also Kagawa is more or less nailed on to start against Bayern, he's getting some confidence back and Moyes is learning how to use him best. When Shinji came on against Bayern last time, it's the most aggressive and physical i've seen him, think he must have a personal hate for them ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2014 13:09:29
I'm feeling a new found optimism, the Bayern performance was pleasing, Mata has his first goal and things are looking on the up. Just wanted to bring up Lallana, do the eds think that we might go in for him? I don't think we will have time time this summer to sign a big names forward, but could someone like Lallana top us up for a bit? He would probably become a bit like our version of James Milner but would be a good addition to the squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hope not. Don't get me wrong, he is a very talented player, just not talented enough.

He's a bit like Kagawa, with inferior vision, pedigree and technical ability. The only thing he has over Kagawa is the manager's trust, and he is on better form right now. But Kagawa is a superior player and replacing him with Lallana might just be one of the stupidest things we can manage to do this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't want anyone to replace Kagawa, he's becoming more important to us by the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fresh, lallana top united up top for a bit? s that a serious question, is there any united fan on here with some sense or knowledge

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Apr 2014 10:39:16
So, mid-table clash today boys. Are you

Believable0 Unbelievable0

U are a strange kind of creature puzzled.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Puzzled yes I am confident, just as I'm confident Liverpool will not win the league in your lifetime.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pardoe

Down the page you say you didn't see much of Kroos against us? We're you watching the same game?!

He absolutely bossed the game, we couldn't get the ball off him! Apart from Swiny's goal he was totally out classed by Kroos.

The biggest complement I can pay him is that it is like watching Scholes aged 34. He is so intelligent with the ball, he sees everything quicker than anyone around him, and seemingly never makes the wrong decision. He also tackles better than Scoles!

Could you imagine Vidal and Kroos together in a 4-2-3-1, would be the best midfield in world football imo.

Shame, can't see us being able to sign either of them.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dodgy banter

I agree, I thought Kroos passed the ball beautifully and that it was like watching Scholes. Still not sure if we are being used to get an improved salary though

Agree0 Disagree0

Gavin

Thiago Motta is more like scholes than Kroos. Beautiful player to watch. Kroos shooting though is better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with you GCU. Motta was so calm and composed against Chelsea.
