We were poor tonight, but was impressed with Shaw. Pogba was back at the old crap trying to beat 3 or 4 players and losing the ball, why can't he keep it simple, pass early and stop getting into corners trying to beat 3 players. I thought this was gone from his game in the last few weeks but was back again tonight. He is letting his ego effect his game.

You’d think we lost 4-0 and pogba didn’t create a wonderful goal.

Redcon i agree 100% with you about pogba.

Agree1 Disagree6

06 Dec 2017 00:12:57
Thought Pogba had another great game and that pass for the goal makes me sad that we aren’t going to go up against city with our best player on Sunday, going to be such a loss and could be a factor in our challenge ending.

Gds2 you have blinkers on, pogba gave away the ball a lot,
He is lazy at getting back helping out, He has very good qualities but is far from the finished article
At the time we bought a record fee we should be getting the finished article, He should be bossing games grabbing them by the scruff of the neck and he hasn't done that against any top side yet, He has against the lesser sides lesser players, 3 goals he has, he needs to get his head down big time if he wants to be a top player.

Agree1 Disagree4

{Ed004's Note - I thought he was poor tonight but he just put in an excellent display a few days ago vs Arsenal away and was very unfortunate with the red card. So he showed he can do it vs the big teams}

06 Dec 2017 00:54:25
Not for me ed has he shown that he can mix it in the big games,
Sometimes a simple pass is the one, like tonight trying to bend it around 3 or 4 defenders,
And I've watched him a few times this season out around the wings giving the ball away. that's not where he should be. He makes strange decisions and he is 24 now so shouldn't be still learning. Schoolboy stuff.

Ive got blinkers on because I disagree with you? Funny.

I didn’t think we were poor at all, we stayed at it and got our reward. Pogba has been great this year but he does have a tendency to lose the ball, often in dangerous situations.

I thought Shaw looked great, if he can get consistency he is head and shoulders above anyone else at left back.

Agree3 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 08:17:05
Shaw needs a run of games and a bit of luck with injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 08:32:32
we need some players like pogba willing to take a chance at that risky pass. do you enjoy passing side to side. he is one of our special players. he will attempt a moment of magic to try and get something started, sometimes it works. just one moment can make a game.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 08:38:30
When LVG was in charge all the players were playing the easy ball and it got us nowhere and the play was very boring and predictable. now we have players willing to play that killer ball and they are getting hammered for not achieving it 100% of the time! Nobody in the game will make 100% of passes. I'm just happy we have a player that attempts them, and often achieves them to create goals/ chances.

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 08:53:58
Unless Young gets injured, Shaw will not get a run of games.

Agree1 Disagree1

06 Dec 2017 10:10:08
Think last night showed how important matic has been for us and how key he is for pogba. He allows pogba to get up the field and roam and yesterday with Herrera there we did not have the adequate cover. Pogba has been nothing short of sensational for us this year but he is still undisciplined at times to play B2B. This is a big problem against the big teams and if he is not going to learn to be more disciplined then we do need to invest in another midfielder. I thought it was an entertaining game and great to qualify top of the group. I think although we are not as good as some of the top top teams, we have jose and he knows how to win this trophy. I would not rule us out of contention.

Agree2 Disagree1

06 Dec 2017 12:02:47
Pogba does lose the ball, but that is a side effect of trying to make things happen.
Making safe passes, and not trying to take players on is fine for keeping possession but it doesn't help create goalscoring chances.
There is a reason we average just over 3 goals a game with Pogba and 1.5 goals a game without him.

He is the catalyst in our side, the one who tries to make things happen. You can't have it all ways.

If you want to see creative attacking football then you need players who will try the riskier passes and try and take players on. Otherwise we are doomed to LVG football.

Agree9 Disagree0

GDS and Shaps, agree completely.

I can’t believe the stick Pogba gets. Even in the ground i hear people moaning about him. He gives the ball away trying things other won’t dare try. I want that kind of player in our side. When it comes off it’s top class. The pass for Roms goal was top class. I think he’s already one of the best in his position in the world and will only improve. One thing is for certain he’s out best player, and we’ll miss him massively on the weekend. Those that doubt his influence take a look at our results without him this season.

I'm talk8ng about buying a complete midfielder, paying a record fee you should expect a complete midfielder.
I'll make it easier for you all.
I wouldn't mention in the same sentence as scholes.
Now he is 24 he should be there or there abouts by now.

Agree2 Disagree7

06 Dec 2017 13:04:42
Scholes had played for united from young age with top midfi3lders such as Beckham Giggs Carrick and Hargreaves.

Pogba went to a juve side and has been for a year. He will be top class in the years to come and he is our only midfielder that makes thinga happen.

Leahy, if you want a world class 24 year old player then Neymar set the bench mark. He cost 222m Pogba cost 89m.
So far this season Pogba has a goal or assist every 85 minutes compared to Neymar's every 71 minutes. Now Pogba is playing in midfield and in a supposedly tough league. So it should be expected that he wouldn't be involved in as many goals as a forward would. So for those figures to be so close I think it's fair to say Pogba is doing better than Neymar so far this season. Plus without checking I'm pretty confident that the stats would suggest Pogba is doing far more defensive work than Neymar thus further showing his worth to the team.

So compared to Neymar Pogba is a 89m bargain. Lol.

Scholes wass a million miles from the complete player he finished as at the age of 24.
At 24 pogba is miles ahead of where scholes was at that age imo.

Plus it’s not the players fault that was his price. Times change. Like buying a house 20 Year’s ago for £30k, that same house is worth £300k now. It’s just what it is. Pogba already looks a steal at £89m.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 15:05:26
Agree stand Jose was correct when he said pogba looks like a steal. We have someone who will be the best midfielder in the world writhing 2 years. And if we are challenging for top honours I can see him being with us for years to come.

Pogba miles ahead of scholes.
I've heard it all.
Zidane told reporters if you want to talk to the best midfielder in the world talk to Paul scholes.
But you lot might know more than zidane.

Leahy read the post. At 24 pogba is miles ahead of were scholes was AT THAT AGE. Your getting as bad as jred just seeing what you want and twisting the words.
Scholes improved with age and imo he wasn't even a constant midfield starter at that age. Was playing higher up the pitch.

Well what did everyone think of Shaw? I thought he was superb, looked sharp and fit. Unfortunately I think he was being put in the shop window.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed004's Note - Hopefully he has shown enough to Mourinho tonight to get a chance to fight his way back into the team. Ideally we would go into next season with Valencia and a new right back competing and Shaw and a new left back competing. If we intend to play 3 at the back we should adopt a similar approach to Spurs and alternate our full backs}

05 Dec 2017 23:22:48
That’s exactly what I was saying on the chat ed. Squad game these days and there is enough games in a season to rotate our full backs. Think the 3 at the back is the best formation for the players we have. Shaw was brilliant tonight and made some good surging runs. Hopefully the penny has dropped for him and he knuckles down mentally as he has all the talent in the world. Only time will tell.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Shaw was very impressive tonight. You could tell he was rusty and I think that’s why he started to cramp near the end. However, his fitness looks like it has improved dramatically which is a good sign. He won’t feature vs City but hopefully he gets a few games over the winter period. I still think if Sandro or a top tier left back is available we should go for them}

05 Dec 2017 23:38:38
He showed the manager tonight that he is capable of being super focused hard working and showed great attitude. Asking witj all of that for his first full game in a year showed louts of quality. The manager had promised him more chances if he produces more if the same then he has every chance to fight for his place. If he plays like that consistently and proves he can then he will earn his place.

I think it's a little to late for Shaw.

It's a shame, before his injury under lvg he was immense.

But if you can t have the motivation to work hard and come back stronger then you don't deserve to play for a big club

Players with less ability have had worse injurys and come back with a better attitude.

It's took him till now to show glimpses of his old self all be it against an average team.

Agree0 Disagree2

06 Dec 2017 08:30:45
It's never too late if he can produce performances like that consistently m.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 16:51:09
or maybe there is an underlying condition that we are not aware of and the Mourinho jibes were just a front to protect him? it is never too late.

is jose playing shaw to prove he is fit and to get the best price can not blame him realy but shaw if the rumours are to be beleived sutch a shame he could be one of the best if realy commited.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

06 Dec 2017 08:59:21
Yes, and also so he could rest Young for the Derby. Everyone knows what Shaw is capable of, however clubs will be weary of his fitness. They'll want a player who can go straight into the team and play. Shaw proved last night that he is fit and ready to play. That being said it doesn't mean we'll end up selling, Shaw has rejected all moves up to now. We'll see. Rumours have it Poch wants Shaw if Spurs fail to get Sessegnon, don't know how true that is. But Shaw did flirt with a move the other month by saying Poch was like a father bla bla, he'd love to play under him again bla bla. So who knows. Time will tell what becomes of Luke Shaw, but I think he's a good player with a lot of potential. I think he'll do well elsewhere.

There was a bit of debate on chat about their goal, for me onside blind played him in.
Any neutral man or ed have an opinion on their goal.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - He was onside but I disagree with the rule}

05 Dec 2017 23:41:23
I don't disagree with the rule ed simply because if any attavking player produces a great piece if skill and the defender slides off the pitch you can't just say that defender doesn't exist.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2017 23:41:54
I think the rule needs to stay the same to stop smarter players going off the pitch to make an attacker offside while in the box, while it is annoying, it may be for the best in the long run.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 00:11:11
Not sure how anyone can disagree with the rule, based on what? Players would use it to gain an adavantage if it wasn’t the rule.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Dec 2017 07:16:21
Don’t be silly GDS, we were effectively penalised ergo the rule is silly. If it happened the other way round then the rule would be great, obviously.
