Today although i would love to come on here and blame Howard Webb for us drawing, i honestly can't. Yes he gave 2 generous penalties, but there was the Cahill foul, the Young penalty etc etc. So it does even itself out and its pointless blaming them decisions. The fact is from a Chelsea point of view i did feel slightly lucky to get a point. Even at 3-0 up i thought there was a chance we wouldn't win because you dominated the first half and it was only a matter of time before you scored.

So basically what i'm saying is, i'm not neutral and today i was anti-united, but don't think we can blame the ref for our own inexperience. You were better overall but i do think 3-3 was a fair result.

Here's why i think Ronaldo will return:

- It looks as though we are making room for a big name by clearing the deadwood out (more deadwood will go in the summer).

- He isn't happy, he doesnt fit in well with the squad from all acounts and its generally not going well for him.

- By the end of May he will have won La Liga and maybe the CL, dream accomplished.

- He wants to play under SAF before he retires, he's like a father figure for the lad.

- SAF has said he's the player he would splash out on, he has said we have the ability to pay large fee's.

- Ronaldo would play for what Rooney is on, he doesn't play for money he plays for accolades. He would get them here. Money is not an issue.

- He loves the club and has many friends here - we are also the most likely club to topple Barca with the infrastructure we have.

- He is a red, never ever a blue.

- SAF knows how effective he would be with a combination of our top players, Rooney, Valencia, Nani, Cleverly, Hernandez etc.

I would like to point out that on the Liverpool page right now, all they are talking about is Manchester United. Who's obsessed now?

Liverfool fans will highlight the two penalties we got, both of which were justified IMO, but they soon forget the pull on Ashley Young's shirt and the blatant red card Howard Webb failed to show Gary Cahill. So stop with this 'United get everything' nonsense, it really is starting to sound like sour grapes. Anyway take care on your way to work tomorrow, and if any of you scousers take the train, PLEASE MIND THE GAP.

well ive got to say we r in very gud form at mo and played realy gud tday but for a wonder goal and a freak own goal we wuda won 3.1? carrick (who i have been a critic of) has been one of our most consistant performers in last 6.7 games n a much better perfofmance frm degea tday he will b great after a gud run in team? i think its time t play chico instead of welbeck who has been realy gud up t now but chico looks in beta form. i think he is the man t shoot down scum at wknd. n give young time coz he is a perfect choice as utd type winger he jst looked tired tday n after a few games t get his match fitness back i think we will c if we have the right player for us? so gud times i go 3.1 us agnst them at wknd? united99

"Giggs and Scholes..Making united look like a Joke.

RedThrough--"

Getting really tired of silly comments like this. I am beginning to wonder if these people are actually watching the games.

Using today as an example:

Giggs - the reason we still play Giggs is for his vision and the 4 or 5 times in a game when he will play the perfect cross or pass. Admittedly he occasionally gives the ball away too easily, however you won't find many people who produce (at least once in every game he plays) that pitch perfect cross or pass. That Hernandez goal to take us to 3-3 today was no fluke. He did not panic like a younger player might, he waited, picked his spot and put the ball right onto the little man's head. This is why he plays.

Scholes - When he came on today the game changed, he dictates play like few others in the league. Even David Silva could learn a thing of two from Paul. He is no longer played for his long shots or his huge passes, but for his calmness and experience in the middle of the park. He plays the short, obvious and safe pass 90% of the time, keeping possession. Making himself available for players in trouble, and essentially pulling all of the strings that needed pulling in that midfield.

What game was this guy watching? Without these two players we may not have even got the point.

They all have a use, not every player is supposed to come on and score, but I suppose if they're not banging them in from 40 yards then some people will just take no notice.

Hi Guys
this might not be the best United team ever but god they never give in.I don'think any other side would have come back from 3 down at the Bridge. This is why we are Man United the spirit is just incredible.
If there are 2 examples of why David De Gea is going to be a world class keeper then those 2 saves at the end show why we have to be patient with him.

Firstly,
Just want to thank, The cracking team of eds, Who keep this site updated for one and all to enjoy.

Right, Been meaning to construct a post for a long time, As being a united fan the past 2-3 season's has made one felt a tad Bi-polar at times, I've never been so in love and out of love, with this team. Things were always going to be a lot tighter under the Glazers ownership than the PLC day's. It's a business, and they have a model for self sufficiency (spelling). Do I like the fact that we can't compete in the Transfer Market? No. But as long as there are 11 players on that pitch wearing Manchester United Red, They will get my backing. The clue is in the name...United?

Sadly we live in an age, Of flashy managers, spending enormous amounts of money, to secure success, When have we ever constructed a team like that? We ave always had a mix of Senior players, Youth, and the odd world class game changer. Apart from that we have always nurtured potential. Some have flew to the heights of stardom, some fell by the way side. Any Manchester United fan honestly, look at what we've won, and say we haven't been spoilt over the years?

But when I hear people putting down the likes of Scholes and Giggs etc, these lads have it in there blood, Like Carragher and Gerrard do for the Scousers, these players would do anything for there clubs on any given day. Who does City have who is City through and through, without the incentive of money? Chelsea when Terry and Lampard retire, the same. You can't put a price on that kind of loyalty. Trust in the manager, let him lead us, We may not always be happy with the result, But over all aren't we lucky to have a club that we can all be proud to support?

Proud of a trophy hall the last 20 years that makes every scouser drool with envy. Be proud guys and girls, no matter what is thrown at us, Always remember one thing WE ARE ALL UNITED ..........If ever in any doubt, and on the eve of the Munich disaster. Really think about your own personal relationship with Manchester United, As I know I do. Have faith and belief.

As baffling as some decisions by SAF were today, Im just glad we were able to fight back. Evra's defending has gone from bad to worse, and Ashley Young still, as always, looks like a decent player for a mid-table club. Not the answer for United. As far as the Ronaldo rumors go, even with City's money, I don't see Ronaldo agreeing to move to them. If the price is 60-70mil, perhaps they'd be willing to take one of Young/nani/valencia as part of the deal. Sell Berbatov, Kuszczak, maybe one or two others this summer, plus any transfer kit and bring back Ronaldo. We've failed to replace him properly since he left.....just my opinion.

At 3.0 up, chelsea thought they were running away with the game, well, that is until they ran into a 'webb'. Lol.

That was a good comeback, but we should'nt have been 3 goals down to begin with.
Young was not as bad as people are making him out to be. Bare in mind, this his first game back. This is just another classic case of the bandwagon mentality.
De gea did o.k. Rafael did well and should have stayed on. Ferdy and evra are passed it. Evans made a mistake but was o.k overall
valencia was poor, which is usually the case when he is double teamed or closely marked.
Giggs did well in the first half and in the second when he was shifted to the wings.
Carrick had decent game as did rooney.
Welbeck was poor today but did well in drawing the penalty.
Hernandez did very well when he was brought on. But thats how he should be used IMO, as an impact sub in the last 20min or so.
Overall, we had a decent game. We could have won it if we had defended abit better.

giggs does indeed make a difference when played on the flanks.but he should not be played in the middle.tries way too many fancy passes.as for evra,he needs to be replaced this summer.he is caught out of positions way too often.if we had played giggs on the wing and started scholesy in the centre, we would have won this game comfortably.rafael played very well.based on this form, EVRA DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE CAPTAIN OF OUR SIDE.

What a game, i didn't want it to end to be honest. Rooney mega on his return, valencia did his job, but rapheal showed pure class when he was on, do not know why fergy took him off.
Negatives where three cheap goals. Scholes should not be played in these high profile games away from home, ferdy looks like his legs have caught up with him and evra is more a left winger than a full back now.
Although we lost two points, and all the city team and supporters think they have the advantage, i much prefer it. the league is in our hands, beat city and were on top (Hopefully).

Don;t forget tomorrow lads.Fifty four years ago as an eight year old I was on my way to St. Alphonsus primary school, Old Trafford. All along the streets there seemed to be women in tears. Not many men - perhaps at work or asleep from night shift? I didn't find out until I got to school where we were all ushered into the hall for an impromptu assembly. All the teachers - again all women, some Nuns -were in tears. We were told the news. It was like hearing some of your family had died. Those boys were part of and lived in the community. I don't remember much after that. Everyone was traumatised. My mother, now 89, has just been on the phone dreading tomorrow.

Must say, great performance to get back in. I think the luck was definatly not on our side. David Luiz was lucky as anything, an unlucky own goal, penalties not given...

Looking forward to Liverpool next week - it will be a must win game as the chances are City will win next week so if we go down to Liverpool we could be 5 adrift. I would fear if that was the case. I fancy us for a win though, allbeit a narrow one.

I think we will see:

__________ De Gea

Rafael __ Ferdinand __Smalling __ Evra

Valencia __ Scholes ___ Carrick __ Park

________ Hernandez __Rooney

Subs: Amos, Evans, Giggs, Cleverly, Young, Welbeck, Berbatov.

bad sportmanship shown by chelsea today, turning heating off in away dressing room. SAF said it was cold enough to store meat. disgraceful behaviour in my mind, cold muscles can cause serious injury to players. this is a disgraceful tactic and the premier league should have rules to stop this sort of behaviour.

3 silly mistakes cost us 3 daft goals today. evra for the first, the whole defence for the 2nd all being sucked over to the ball on the left, leaving mata unmarked... the 3rd again evra letting his man run leaving ferdinand on the wrong side of luiz.. in a game we controlled fully we shouldnt be making these errors... i think its down to a lack if leader/organising defence. its games like today we really me vidic.

Great fightback but we really shouldnt be in that position.

Great comeback and with United you wait to the end to criticise.

We didnt win it because the tempo in the first half was far too slow. We only played at their tempo and they were nervous until they scored. Our team lacks zip in the middle but what do you expect playing a 38 year old in there. It isnt all down to Giggs but whoever is deciding on the tempo is at fault. We only upped the tempo after the third goal against us.
The first goal was yet again an error from Evra who was also nowhere to be seen for the second goal when Torres crossed it.

Now will those people who get on De Geas back please take a look at themselves. The save from Mata was world class.

I feel sorry for Young becasue he has got to deal with an inept Evra whos more interested in attacking than defending so Young has to drop back to play LB, instead of being ready to hit Chelski on the break.

Also i would much rather Rooney focus on scoring more goals, unfortunately for him he's too much of a team player who has to drop off into midfield to drive us forward. Hopefully Cleverly will pick up were hes left off, which will allow Roonet to focus on being a forward. But despite him not always scoring and going on barrens runs he always playes really well and gives it his all.

David De Gea had a great game today, didn't make a mess of anything, the only thing he didn't do to well was the punch at the beginning but he still got it clear.

I thought Rafael was quality and he's really bulked up a lot over the past year, Rooney, Carrick, Toni and Giggs also played well.

I thought Young and Evra were awful.

Then the others done their bit but didn't really stand out imo.

quality game, 3-3, I'm happy.

Why on earth did Fergie play Giggs from the start he continuously goes missing in the big games. Scholes should have started.

I'm fed up of the old excuses some of our players aren't up to the challenge.

Too many flicks and tricks when were up front rather than shoot. It remind me of arsenal when they try and walk the ball into the goal instead of shooting.

Its ok trying to say were playing like Barcelona or trying to copy their style but we have our own style and frankly we should become more direct and integrate flair into our play.

Now weve just scored lets get Scholes on, would have loved to see Pogba play apart today but sadly Fergie won't risk him

He has assembled a squad that has made the worse Liverpool and Chelsea squads in the premierships history look decent. I like the look of those line ups!

Nothing more welcoming than seeing Rooney and Young back, but also seeing that Chelsea have Cahill, Torres, David Luiz and Bosingwa all in the same team is a wonderful sight.

First off I would like to say I am from the States so I don't claim to have inside information, nor do I claim to have supported the club since birth. I am however one of the few that never miss a game, whether it be waking up at 4am before work, or setting the DVR, I never miss an opportunity to watch United.

Now my question is and I cannot understand how no clubs came in for Demba Ba. I know it is his first year in the EPL and he could be having an exceptional rarity of a first year. But with a reported buyout clause less than 10mil I don't see much wrong with the player. Especially when we have funds to waste on BeBe. The best qualities a striker can have are his positioning, ball control, finishing. Which he has in abundance. The thing I've noticed that maybe others haven't is that he simplifies the game. Doesn't force the play, involves his teammates, And even drops deep on occasion to help transition from defense into attack. All I see happening now is him signing a new contract with Newcastle causing his buyout clause to skyrocket. "No value in the market" is no longer an excuse. 16 goals in the EPL is damn good value, especially at less than 10mil. I would have loved to see Ba Playing as a target striker, Rooney playing off Ba as the creative attacker. Berbatov is great on his day but I'd much rather have to make my choice of strikers from Rooney, Chicharito, Wellbeck, and Ba. All 4 of individual talents different of the other which would create havoc on any defense.

I have faith in De Gea, but just as a side note - I really think Tim Krul would of been a great replacement for van der Sar - i think he is one of the best keepers around at the moment and i'd of loved to have seen him here.

cristiano ronaldo is 27 today how time flies, the same time cristiano joined united was about the same time i started to really follow united i mean like watch every game. ppl on here debating whether he'd come back or not? but do we really need him? probably a stupid question who wudnt want a goal machine on their team. yet upfront we have rooney welbeck chicha so i think were fine u wud be disapointed if fergie spent a huge amount on cristiano when we could buy a class cm pairing. question is wud u have cristiano back or 2 quality mfs?? eds syd? guys?

I reckon that this Ronnie rumour has something to it, it really would not surprise me one bit. It would explain why we haven't made moves in the market, hardly any outlay since he left and areas have been left.

I think if Ronnie were to return then there would infact be no need for an outlay anywhere else. We are getting rid of the deadwood to make space and to save a bit of money. That will continue in the summer, i'm fairly positive we will see the back of James, Kusczack, Owen, De Laet, maybe Berbatov as well (not sure on that front however).

That 'cull' would of got rid of most of those surplus to requirement, youngsters are more than capable of bettering the positions in the squad that they have left open. This leaves room for Pogba, Tunniclife, Fryers, Amos to excell. That would mean we have a good nucleus.

So if Ronnie came back, would we need other reinforcements in other areas? Is he the one that is not yet available? I think he could be and i don't think (injuries permiting) that we would need anyone else. At the start of the season we were not calling for more players particualrly as we had played superbly.

Where would he fit in is the next question? I see these two options as perfectly viable:

Valencia ___ Ronaldo ___ Nani

__________ Rooney

OR:

Valencia ___ Rooney ___ Ronaldo

______ Hernandez/Welbeck

Unlike Sydney, im not convinced that Nani would be sold, i think he is an important player for us, both of those two would work well with eachother. If Young had been here for longer then i'd get rid of him, but i think all of our wingers will stay.

I think the transfer fee is doable if we don't need anyone else to come in, i think we are generally well stocked if we look to youth. And there will still be good options to give back up - such as Nathaniel Clye or Danny Simpson on a free as defensive cover - that is just one of our options to back up the squad. Even Michael Ballack.

Also i think if we can pay Rooney in excess of 250k p/w then we should play the best player in the world 250k - 300k, he deserves it - for me he is better than Rooney is.

The last issue is his number 7 shirt, maybe SAF knew he'd come back otherwise the number 7 shirt would of gone to someone younger who would keep it for years instead of Owen.

Good to hear the game is on today, I think Chelsea would be pushing their luck getting this game cancelled after last season. You can bet your bottom dollar that if it was a lunchtime game it would have been called off last night. I am not sure who is 100% fit so it's hard to try and predict a line-up, prediction SAF's line-ups isn't easy at the best of times. But here goes.

_________DDG
Small_Evans_Ferdy__Evra
____Carrick__Scholes
Toni_____Rooney_____Nani
_______Hernandez

I think SAF will end up going with DDG if fit, although it wouldn't be a complete shock if Amos played. I think Welbeck offers more upfront and has a good partnership with Rooney, but Hernandez has been deadly against Chelsea in recent games and he has turned Cahill inside out on numerous occasions with his movement. But again I wouldn't be surprised to see Welbeck in attack. I think Scholes has had sufficient rest time and I think the back four picks itself at the moment. I would love to see Cleverley & Young play some part ready for the big games coming up. I think Pogba will miss out today as Cleverley & Young and possibly Anderson will need game time.

dear mr jred
ngiak believes you are right with that statement
however, looks like it will not be done by our club
they probably will not be good value in the market
compared to the rag and bones midfield we have today
