i'm starting to think we have alot of grumpy fans who've stayed up past their bed times on here tonight. Carrick is a great player and has been our best and most consistant central midfielder since he's signed. You don't be the main midfielder in a team that wins 4 titles and appears in 3 champions league finals in 5 years if your crap. Since we've signed Carrick we've had our best and most consistant spell in europe under Sir Alex and proberly in our history and this is down in part to Carrick and the way he keep possession and the way he always makes himself available for a pass, he shields the back four often without having to make tackles which is the best way as you have less chance of giving away free kicks that way, but when needed he tackles, he's a model professional on and of the pitch. The only thing that goes against him is he doesn't have keane's tenacity or scholes goal scoring so because of this people mistake him for not being good enough. People should get behind our players and support them for the hard work they put into our club, Carrick has given more to this club than any fan on this site so give him the respect he deserves and lets cut this "he's not united quality" crap out. Of course i could be wrong and he could be crap but All the pundits rate him very highly and Sir Alex rates him highly but maybe they know f*** all about football too.

I am watching United Vs Villa on MUTV as there is absolutely nothing on, and Young is pretty much playing as a striker that drifts out to the left, his positioning is pretty good and he closes down high up the pitch very good, I am beginning to think he will be a very good signing for us.

Remember Dwight Yorke before he signed for United? He was a good player for Villa, but when he signed for us he was top quality, he stepped it up a touch. I genuinely believe he will surprise many people next season. And I do not think he was bought just for the left wing, he looks very effective in the centre. With better players around him he will become a better player.

What is up with these stupid buy out clauses 87m for hulk 135m for pedro... I know Ronaldo is an exceptional player but without inflation I believe Zidane would be the worlds most expensive player he was the most complete footballer and the likes of the hulk and Pedro are almost double and treble zidanes value which is sad

Im a sunderland supporter lads but i can remember my 2 uncles who used to watch united in the 50s and 60s and reminice how they used to talk with sadness in there voices at the loss of duncan edwards saying not just utd fans but the whole country missed out on seeing the lad who would have been the greatest footballer in history and most probably would have captained england in the 1966 world cup instead of the great bobby moore. we can only think what we have missed and what makes it harder is there is little tv coverage of this young lad. but as i remind my kids and the younger generation england lost one of its greatest talents at munich rip duncan edwards 1936-1958 also on google put in duncan edwards grave lads have a look and read about how he always has a red and white carnation on his grave wonder who sees to that {Ed007's Note - Well said mate}

In my opinion we should go for pastore, he has the physical attributes to cope withe the premier league, would be a good investment at any price

Man city sign nasri
Chelsea sign modric
Sneijder will stay at inter
Sanchez to barca
Real sign Neymar
Juventus sign aguero

Pastore has only one viable option left Manchester united go get him fergie

does anybody belive that with the possibility of berbatov leaving and the aparent willingness by atletico madrid to sell aguero as juventus have had a bid accepted, does this open the door for a move to united or is this an unneccasary purchase ?

What about the double signing of Chile players Vidal and Sanchez. Could get for 40 million + future add ons. So a team of
-----------De Gea
Fabio---Rio-----Vidic----Evra
---------Vidal----Anderson
Valencia---Sanchez---Nani
--------------Rooney

Would be an awesome team wouldn't it?

What team would you like to see if you could have two more signings?

‎''I really believe if you are a player who thinks only about money then you could end up at Manchester City." - Gael Clichy, 2009.

Now i know there is much more to signing a player then just his stats but i've complied a list of goals and assists for the 4 players most people seem to want.
Nasri- 15 goals, 3 assists
Sneijder- 7 goals, 7 assists
Schwiensteiger- 8 goals, 10 assists
Sanchez- 12 goals, 8 assists

which shows that Sneijder only contributed directly to 14 goals last season, Nasri and Schweinsteiger 18 and sanchez 20.

All are forward thinking(attacking) Midfielders which is apparently what we need, only Schweinsteiger and Nasri have any defensive qualities to their game so we would proberly require a midfielder who can defend well to play with any of these potential signings.

Whats my point in all of this? Well i feel that we'd be much better off signing Arturo Vidal who last season Scored 13 goals and assisted 12 meaning he was directly responsibe for 25 goals last year. He is a Box to box type player who clearly has the attacking qualities required seeing as he was better last year than all the other players were linked to and he is brilliant at defending so we wouldn't require any other players and can give more playing time to our youth players.

Let me know what you guys think.

****MANCHESTER UNITED****

You can expect developments next week. Not this week.

The well published names are all on the radar closely being monitored by their developments with their respective clubs.

Modric was and is the primary target identified over 12 months. Preliminary contact was made during last season to which Spurs acted quickly with a new contract to warn off interested clubs.

While Spurs were playing Champions League football Modric was quite happy while also seemingly looking like challenging the so called big four.

Now then, from what I know, Chelsea's pursuit of Modric and Spurs lack of highest competative football have given Modric a new perspective. Spurs are clearly not happy with Chelsea's public pursuit to capture him and know that United still have an interest going back to last seasons request to be kept informed of any developments.

Modric has to write on open lettered transfer request in order to force a move. Its already been well publicised but Chelsea would be his preferred choice. Sour relations between the two clubs may keep United in with a chance but the transfer fee will need to be huge.

Nasri is the second option should a) Modric not hand in a public transfer request b) Spurs agree to sell to Chelsea and Modric choose ahead of United.

This said, signing Nasri is not a given either. Arsenal do not want to loose Nasri aswell as Fabregas, but with Nasri's one season of contract left, Money will talk. However, Arsenal certainly do not want to sell to a Preimership rival and are drumming up interest from Inter Milan.

Inter Milan want to shift Sniejder from their wage list and are aware of Sniejders interest in United should the opportunity arise. As a result they are evauluating proposed transfer fee's for Sniejder in order to sign Nasri as a direct, cheaper but still high quality replacement.

So, if Modric goes to Chelsea or stays at Spurs you will see activey increase for Nasri from Utd. Failing that, Sniejder subject to wages and transfer fee's.

There is plenty of talk going on, and clubs waiting for one deal to happen to kick start the other, but, as earlier wont be until next week before transfer fee's start being negotiated.

Complicated I know, but hope I've shed some light on why 3 Names are being branded about in relation to Utd.

The Redest Devil.

What's up with all the rumours linking O'shea, Brown and Evans away from Old Trafford?

In the two previous seasons we've had a lot of injury problems in our defense, problems that we in mysterious ways managed to get ourselves through without dropping too many points; I remember we played Park at right back, with fletcher and Carrick as central defenders in one game... Do anyone seriously believe that Ferguson will get rid of three defenders and replace them with one incoming defender (Jones) ? I seriously doubt it, and I can't really see anyone in the reserve squad that's capable of stepping up to the first-team-squad at the moment...

What do you think, ED ? {Ed007's Note - I like O'Shea just even for his versatility, and with Smalling there I think Evans time is up. As for Brown I just feel it is time for him to move and play more regularly}

Graham Hunter on SSN's says that Barca are 100% keen on Fabregas, which we already know and are on verge of completing Sanchez deal. So that proves the £40m budget was false. So this effects us how..? Well Sanchez wont be coming to OT and if Fabregas does leave it could mean Nasri gets the monster contract he is after and stay at the Emirates.

joe i posted last night asking if people would calm down about nasri. I never told people they couldn't post just asking for people not to jump the gun as nothing is finalised. Mumbles I could not agree more. I live 10 minutes away from OT so am obviously not as big a fan as Rainfish. I am also from NIreland and have had a season ticket for many seasons. My son is 3 and ready to go to a game so he will be the 4th generation of united fans in my family. My grandad played for Everton but I was still drawn to Utd mainly due to my father and his love of George Best the greatest player besides big Duncan to play for our great team. I am in agreement that Rainfish should go and watch FC Utd unless he learns to say something +ive once in a while. On another note Schweinsteiger and Nasri would be an awesome midfield. We should have signed Sebastian yeaers ago when we had the chance.

Midfielders - my personal preference for a priority list for incoming midfielders this summer would be:-
1. Schweinsteiger
2. Sneijder
3. Sanchez
4. M'Villa
5. Nasri
6. Lassana Diarra

If we could get any two of the top three, losing Nani and Berbatov as part of the deals, then I would be very happy. Any three of the six would also be good, but I cannot see that happening

lets please put these huntelaar rumours to rest now.
he is no where near as good a player as people touted him. 5 yrs ago maybe but no where near now. end of.

i do think nasri will be a citeh player in the next couple of weeks.

i think a 40m swoop for sanchez is still a possibility, given the fact that fabregas is their no1 target and probably only have enough for one of them. along with a cash + berba deal with bayern for bastian. 25m + berba i would have thought they would take.

schweinsteiger sp? would be my number one choice out of all.

The more I think about it the more I think that the player we really need replacing is Owen Hargreaves. He could go past players, pass, shoot, especially track back and tackle. Complete box-to-box midfielder. The sort of player who could just dictate the whole game.
Sadly I don't think it's as easy as just 'replacing' him...

I genuinely believe if he was fit for both champions league finals against Barcelona we would have won one if not both.

I think all anyone needs to know about Tevez's commitment to any club is summed up by the fact that, after 4 years in the country, he still can't string a sentence together in English.

And as for City holding out for £40m for him - good luck with that. Everyone knows they have to sell now or face having a disruptive, unproductive player milk them for £13m a year.

Rainfish, I'm from Dublin and living in China. I get out of bed at 2.45 AM to watch United play. I travelled 5 hours by bus to watch the CL final with other United supporters and then 5 hours back the next day. I travel from Dublin to Manchester to see the lads play.

I know it's only one game but cooled on Sanchez after watching the Chile vs Mexico game. I watch Serie A on ESPN and I'll admit he has skill and pace but he doesn't really do it for me. Nasri would be a better buy imo. More end product and is a more complete player. On his day he can be just as skillful as Sanchez but can pass and thread play together more effectively, not to mention we know he can do it in the EPL. Probably gonna get slated for this cause there is a lot of love for Sanchez on this site but it's just my opinion and wanted to test the water with it. What do you think Eds? Valid point or not?

JP {Ed002's Note - I don't expect Sanchez to move to Manchester United, so I cannot see the need to try to compare players.}

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to sign top target Alexis Sanchez if rivals Barcelona grab Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal. Ferguson and the United money men have refused to budge on a £28million offer to Udinese for Chilean star Sanchez but their dream of signing the South American could get a double boost this week. Barca s final bid for Sanchez is £24m plus an extra £10m in appearances, a package that has yet to be accepted by the Italian club with United s offer a greater amount in guaranteed cash. And amazingly the £10m add-ons are based on Sanchez playing in 50 per cent of games in the next four seasons money that may never come. The Champions League winners are at full stretch financially and that offer will not be increased, and could even be withdrawn, if they land Gunners skipper Fabregas in the next few days.

If Tevez goes to Real, it will not mean one of Benzema or Higuain will become available. IMO it will see Adebayor not become a Madrid player. After all Mourinho wanted 3 top class strikers and if Tevez goes, that will be his 3..

Chaps.. I'd love to know all of your favourite ever Man Utd players

Perhaps list 1.your favourite Utd player ever, and 2.either your favourite player ever outside of Utd or someone who never came to the club you wish had.

Mine would be;

1. Solskjaer - as i'm only 20, and at a younger age when I really got into football, watching him come off the bench and impact the game was very exciting

2. Zidane - everytime I saw him play I was astonished. A truely great player with a head for football (and headbutting apparently).

Certainly could put a hole in City's transfer plans, come this way Mr Nasri, play with Carlos.....

Lets hope Carlos goes to the Madrid Circus and it dislodges Higuain or Benzema
