Wesley Sneijder has recently flew out to have a meeting with one of the clubs in Manchester.
This is not United. Sneijder wants £150,000 a week wages and this is why the deal to bring him to United collapsed.

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE LOADA RUBBISH!

Hi this is my first ever post.
He flew to California to talk to his wife and discuss whether she would mind moving to England. And if she says ok then he is going to either City or Utd. City will offer more money than Utd no doubt but he said himself that he wants to go to a club with good historical roots (lots of trophies won in the past). And trust me Fergie gave Rooney £220, 00 wages or something like that so if Fergie wants Sneijder Fergie will pay the wages.

So I can't see Utd not getting him if Fergie really wants him.

Whats your thoughts Ed? {Ed007's Note - With some of the other rumours it could be perceived that Milan are planning for his departure. I have lobbied for Sneijder to join Utd on here for a while now so I am not going to change my mind although Modric is quaity as well. I think Sneijder could be within reach now, and like you said if AF wants him I don't think it will be over money if the deal doesn't happen}

England U19's have failed to qualify for the U19's tournament. Perhaps if they picked the majority of the United youth, instead of the Majority of Liverpool youth, they might have went through!

How are Johnstone, Tunnicliffe, Wootton, Thorpe, Morrison & Keane not in the starting XI, I do not know?

I mentioned earlier that De Gea, Lindegaard and Amos as our 3 senior keepers is a bit of a risk. My suggestion is Given, Sorensen, Cudicini, Jaskelainen or Green to bought aswel as De Gea. What your feelings on Gk situation ed? {Ed007's Note - I have expressed my concerns before about De Geas' young age and the effect a couple of mistakes could have on him. As for back up I would love to see Given at OT, even if it is only to stop me wading through posts on the Celtic site about him :-)

RedRebel - United are fine for homegrown players. For next season we will have Giggs, Amos, Owen, Smalling, Rio, O'Shea, Rooney, Cleverley, Fletcher & J.Evans. But the season after next, we can add Rafael, Fabio & Welbeck to that list. They will replace Giggs & Owen I would imagine.

So we are fine for homegrown mate, we are linked to Young, he's homegrown. We also have Gibson, Macheda, De Laet & Drinkwater, but I expect they could be sold. Then in the near future we have Pogba, Wootton, Blackett, Tunners, Keane, Morrison & Johnstone, all homegrown.

Carrick won't leave. He signed a new contract recently and he performed very well recently too. Nani won't leave either. He signed a new contract fairly recently and he also performed very well most season. Carrick plays the role people don't notice. He tracks back, tackles and passes all very well. He gets overrun very rarely as well. Nani plays the role that Ronaldo plays. Therefore he dribbles and shoots very well. But often he loses the ball when he can simply pass instead. He gets put down because he isn't Ronaldo. Gilly

Gan, the net spend from 2005-2010 whilst under the Glazers is lower than the previous five years, very true and I have not purposely avoided that. But these figures are obscured by the Ronaldo fee. I can tell you that from 2005-2009 we net spent more than the previous five years. I am not defending the Glazers, I am just sharing the facts.

Also, we are £477m in gross debt, around £360m net debt. (£477m - £113m cash reserves). We have to pay back £477m (so far) by 2017. But that will drop by around £25m-£30m a year IMO. That is based on the fact that our debt has been reduced on average £25m in the past two years. So IMO and it's just opinion, I believe we will have to pay back around £325m-£350m in 2017. But I suspect we will refinance in 2016.

Ashley young deal is pretty much done after he said he wants champions league football and also did u notice Rio Ferdinand have a sly word with him after young scored ?
I would be more than happy If mufc signed young , he offers great set peices and can play left wing right wing or in the hole behind the striker he also offers a great dillevery and can supply Rooney with the quality balls that antonio just isn't finding at the moment.

Hi I'm new to this but I have 100% accurate news not a rumour Danny welbeck will not join Sunderland even on loan as sir Alex spoke to him saying he will be a important player next season , I know this because my cousin Scott is best mates with Danny. Also a new striker will not be bought.

ShaunMUFC {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Shaun}

- - - - - - - - -

Selling Welbeck would have been one of the most stupid things we could have done in this transfer window.

This lad is really talented and even at his young age he is a very complete forward. At times he had to carry a out of form Sunderland team and completely destroyed Chelsea on his own.

If he stays fit and is given enough chances i think he could have the same impact like Hernandez last season. Probably not in terms of goals but his general play is already a lot better than that of Hernandez. Definitely our most talented youngster at the moment (bar Morrison).

More opinion than a rumour but as it's looking like Drogba will leave Chelsea then surely United should go for him? Berbatov will be used as a p/x deal or will be sold to the highest bidder, Owen is just experienced cover who is useful in the rare games he plays, Macheda will either be sold or loaned out and Welbeck will provide cover for the wings as much as he will for Rooney & Hernandez so we need a good 3rd striker who can take the pressure off the main 2.

We also need a target man/battering ram for physical games and if we could get 3 years out of Drogba for 10-15m and 120-150k a week then it's a no-brainer for me.

REDFAITH"""
dear mr redfaith
ngiak was expecting you to answer a la Sydney!
well in reply to your question
it was in the context of the repeated reminders of how much we spent on players frequently quoted by Sydney etc to account for the "availability" of funds
when actually there is a business model here where we spend what we sell
and not touching what the club earns
which. . ngiak suspects is all going to be used to reduce the debt
again ngiak hopes he is wrong

Hey, been reding this site for years but never posted. I moved to England from Scotland and I am a Man Utd fan. My new assistants brother is a waiter in the private boxes at OT and has got in the know off some ppl in the club over his 3 years working there. He said an offer has been put in for De Gea and A. Madrid have accepted but apparently De Gea has asked his agent to see if there is any room at Barcelona as he favours a move there before Utd but wants a lot of game time. His agent is in talks with Barca but they have their faith in Valdes and Pinto so good chance its Utd he's coming. Varane is on his way but loaned back asap. There is no talk of right back as they twins are highly regarded at OT. Apparently Modric is the priority over Sneijder as he has prem experiance and will be cheaper so leaves more money for more buys. Sanchez is looked at for wing and upfront but no offer has been given yet. He hasn't gave me any estimations of value as that's just a guessing game. He did say that the club is looking at younger players that will help in the squad week in/week out like Smalling and Hernandez.

He doesn't know about players leaving but there is chat the Gibson and Obertan have been given the chance and never took it properly so are open for offers.

I was hoping for Berbaflop, Carrick and Owen to leave.

I think Fergie has his sights on a player that were not even realising!

Gibby {Ed007's Note - Welcome to the site Gibby, feel free to join in the craic}

gibby, de gea changes his agent on the 1st July which is when his deal with us will start which has been arranged by Jorge mendes his new agent so his current agent would NOT bee talking to anyone, all that tripe about somebody in the know and then talk a load of nonsense.

Alexis sanchez 2009

The 20-year-old Chilean has made 29 appearances this season and scored three goals. He is contracted to the Serie A club until 2011/2012 and is believed to be worth around five million euros.

Sanchez, who predominantly plays on the right, can play all across the front line and according to the Daily Mail is "Chile's answer to Cristiano Ronaldo."

Does anybody else feel that having De Gea, Lindegaard and Amos as our 3 senior keepers is a huge risk? I am in favour of signing De Gea as the future no 1, but i would like a better fallback than Lindegaard, if he struggles to adapt straight away. I would like to see an experienced premier league keeper come in alongside De Gea and send Amos out on loan. My preference in order would be Given, Sorensen, Cudicini, Jaskaleinen, Green. In the case of Given he would be number 1 for a couple of seasons for De Gea to settle in. The other 4 would be more assured backups than Lindegaard. What are others opinion on this?

source in old trafford Berbatov gibson and 25 million for defoe and modric {Ed004's Note - Why would Man Utd sign Defoe, and why would Spurs take Gibson??}Defoe is a good player and would do a decent job, however he would want 1st team football which he recently complained about getting a lack of it.

Nasri appears to be interested in joining Man Utd after his latest interview, although whether Utd bid for him is another thing. Considering he is 23 with with a year left on his contract and a goal scoring midfielder i'd prefer him to modric as he would be abit cheaper to sign.

Although Arsenal maybe reluctant to sell him but maybe £20 -£25 million maybe very tempting for them

Sydney I notice you have beaten me to the chase in your attempt to defend the Glazers before I begin my summer long attack on those blood sucking leaches. You make the ridiculous statement that we are the richest club in the world. You are perfectly aware that we have a massive debt and that money coming into the club that should be used to buy the worlds best players and also keep the prices down for supporters is instead being used to pay of the debts of these revolting slug like individuals. Fergie has managed to keep us at the top of the league in spite of and not because of the Americans. Can any of you say that we are a better side than we were. Before any of you come on here and say that Fergie supports them then ask yourself why and maybe it has something to do with not interfering with deals like the Bebe deal that are shall we say beneficial to quite a few people. The difference between me and some of you on this site is that i believe in a "Manchester United" way of doing things and not just winning at all costs. Those of you who know your history, who know of Busby and Murphy about the babes will know what made us so special and it wasn't about advertising revenue or shady deals with Portugese agents and using the club for your private vendetta's with the BBC when they uncover your wrong doings. I have watched United all through the barren periods and i am prepared to do so again if it meant cutting the cancer out of our club. There are those amongst you who have only ever known success and Fergie and you believe it is the only way and fear anything else. Those of us who have seen other regimes will tell you there is never a bad time to be a United Supporter we were always the proudest because of who we were. I do not wish to bring Fergie down he has brought unpresidented success to our club, but neither he or anyone else will convince me that this huge debt has been of any benefit to this club. . {Ed004's Note - I agree with everything you have said there but do you not think Rooney is best in the hole. Behind the main striker, he would probably still hit 20+ goals up front as the main man but he contributes more dropping deep. }

I think it's a difficult question. Is Rooney better in the hole or is he better upfront on his own? Last season he was given his chance. He got 34 goals playing as the lone striker. His relationship with Nani and especially Valencia was fantastic. Every team that played us knew how the goals were going to be scored - the wide players crossing in for Rooney - and yet they could do nothing about it. If Rooney didn't get injured then I believe the 19th would have been won last year and we could easily have reached a Champions League final against Inter.

Right now he plays in the hole. There's no doubt that he is effective there. But IMO the primary reason that he so effective playing there is Hernandez. There's no guarantee that Hernandez will hit the hights next year, that he's achieved this year. Potential injuries and the Copa America could hinder his performances. Without Chica upfront, the thought of Rooney playing in the hole isn't as appealing to me.

If he was moved upfront then I'd be happy with a strike force of Rooney, Chica, Welbeck and Owen. And that would allow Sir Alex to go and get a Sneijder, Pastore, Sanchez to play behind Rooney. As well as a deep lying midfielder. Something like this:

De Gea.

Rafael.
Vida.
Ferdinand.
Evra.

Modric.
Fletcher.

Valencia.
Sanchez/Sneijder/Pastore.
Nani.

Rooney.

IMO that system is better than the one that is being played at the moment. Let me know what you guys think.

Matthew. .{Ed004's Note - I agree with what you are saying, my first choice would be Sanchez in that list as the other two are quite lazy at times and will not help when we need to defend. Rooney would be able to play in the hole when Hernandez is playing and when Hernandez is not playing, he would play as the main striker so we could change the team plan and if used effectively could give us a huge advantage over some teams}

Spot on. When Xavi began playing in their first team, he was critised. Those outside the club saw him as a passenger in the team and couldn't understand why he was picked. But after continuously playing with the likes of Guardiola, Figo, he started to raise his game. Now he's the best passer of the ball in the world.

If someone like Modric is signed, hopefully the likes of Morrison and Tunnicliffe can get some game time with him.

I'm not saying that i believe your rumours but most posters should understand that everything can change very fast on the transfer market. One day a transfer from player A to club B can look certain, and the other day he signs for a different club-

Until there is a signed contract there is nothing definite.''

I agree with you completely

heres a fun idea, how about we name who our ideal 3 signings would be, but they have to have played in the epl last season and their not allowed to be from the top 6 clubs(arsenal chelsea man city spurs and liverpool). Mine would be asmir begovic james mccarthy and ciran clarke. Wat would yours be?

"I have just read "sneijder flown to california to talk about a 30m move to manchester. City and united both interested"

source- BBC"

The source is actually a bit of lazy journalism in the Sunday Mirror, not the BBC. The story is probably half right - as it opens by saying he's flown to California to see his wife. I suspect the rest is largely fictitious.

just a thought if we need a new striker(i don't think we do but some people do) then i'd go for Lucas Barrios his goal scoring record is amazing in his club career he's got 100 goals in 132 games which puts the C in clinical. He's also big and strong and can hold the ball up well. And wouldn't cost the earth, we may even be able to do some kind of swap deal with berbatov.

"as i have said here many times: there is absolutely no chance that sanchez will be a manchester united player. we can't afford his transfer fee"

@Ah now what do we have here? A pretend United fan? Are you seriously telling me we cannot afford £26m? A club that has £113.7m sat in the bank, a club that will turn over £325m+ this season and every other season after this one.

Manchester United are the wealthiest club on this planet, don't be a fool to think we cannot afford to pay £26m for a player that will double in price over the next couple of years.

Does anyone know how much we are now saving because of the now retired scholes, neville, van der sa as well as the released hargreaves? Thinking logically surely just the money saved there would allow us to pay the fees and wages of 1 decent signing.

I think the England game yesterday proved my point that the only quality player on show yesterday was Jack Wiltshire, but we are being linked with Ashley Young who is a very average player. England fell into United's trap of just pumping long balls over the top all the time. It is something i would love to see change at United. i want to see the ball on the floor more and passed to feet. Good luck to Ashley Young I have nothing against him i just don't think he will bring anything to the side that Nani and Tony V don't already. RAINFISHTROMBONE

We are goin to get shafted by the glazers again {Ed002's Note - If Young moves to Old Trafford it will be because the Manager wants him and nothing to do with the Glazers.}

There are clearly two priorities if we are going to develop to Barcelona standards, world class creative and defensive midfielders. Whilst Fletcher has his merits and I suspect Cleverley will develop there is the opportunity to do better. With his personal problems and 1 year left on his contact De Rossi would be a world class defensive acquisition and a better player than alternatives like Diarra. Creatively Sneijder would be great but does he fit our style of play or would Modric be better or even alternatives like Hazard or Gourcuff? We only need another winger if Nani or Valancia leave. Personally a midfield with De Rossi and Modic would be perfect for around 40-45m or less with other players thrown in.

I am going to stick my neck out and say that we will sign five players this summer. I think we will sign:

De Gea
Varane
Young
Modric
El Cubo

I would be more than happy with these signings and I think they are more than feasible. This is not a wishlist, I genuinely believe we will sign these players by September.
