Ajax just proved nothing is impossible. What a brave performance and they were absolutely clinical.

Early goal tomorrow and anything can happen.

From United's perpective, it is difficult to expect a top performance considering most of them haven't played together.

I really hope we don't suffer a mauling.
Or the plastics will come out in full force.

100% a tough ask, but Ajax were given no chance last night. Stranger things have happened, hopefully we take the game to PSG tonight. I’d throw them and start an attacking youth player like Chong or greenwood, someone they more than likely won’t know much about.

Historical, Young players really stepped up today to deliver a brilliant performance.
Van De Beek, is this player not linked with any big clubs?

Is there any reason why the glazers are attending more lately?

Seen to be at most the games now.

Maybe there relationship with ole is good, maybe they didn't have a relationship at all with Jose?

I don't know it's just strange how they are now attending most game's.

05 Mar 2019 22:13:01
I think it has something to do with the fact they own the club.

Ed002, the elite teams get together to discuss different ideas and plans going forward. We're aware of the breakaway European league idea. Are there any other regular discussions that talked about that could change the course of the game?

Thanks.

I am loathe to criticise in team I have supported for over 50 years but I was disappointed that on Saturday the United players refused to put the ball out of play despite sanchez lying in the penalty area clutching his knee. Regardless of what the squad think of him i think the players were bang out of order in doing what they did. Clearly it would have made no difference how quickly the medics got to him but now he is going to be out for a few weeks I just wonder if any of the players are feeling slightly guilty.

Allan,

I hope this is a joke?

Agree1 Disagree3

05 Mar 2019 17:26:15
Why would they feel guilty, players go down every game and no player could tell what his injury was,
I think you getting a bit carried away with this one.

05 Mar 2019 17:50:18
He's not watched rugby where they just play around the injured player and only stop if they need to get a stretcher or paramedic on.

Sanchez was right in front of me and it was almost comical. He went through all the motions of being crippled, then he got up, then he went down again, all accompanied by theatrical gestures. I think it said a lot about his standing with his team mates that they pretty much ignored him. Quite right too.

Ajh your a gas man😂😂 after all your lectures about bullying in the work place. But it ok because your not a big sanchez fan.
Personally i'm in favour of the rugby rule of allowing the trainer on the field to treat while the game goes on. It would cut out a lot of time wasting and feigning injuries.
As a coach for a couple of seasons i told the ref and opposing manager before the game that my side will not put the ball out of play for anything other than an obvious head injury and we don't expect them to put the ball out for us. It worked well as it left it up to the ref to decide if it was an injury worth stopping a game for. I hate when teams do it.
Look at the stats and i bet you would find 95% of the time the ball is put out of play the players us usually fit to continue. Its all a load of nonsense.

Ken it works well in rugby as play is generally congested to an area of the pitch for several minutes. Football can go end to end and side to side in seconds. I see where you are coming from but there would be interference far too often and it won’t be long before the physio accidentally gets in the way and players start to go down intentionally outside their own penalty area to disrupt the flow and cut off attacking areas.

05 Mar 2019 20:37:25
There's a lot in rugby that should be brought over. VRA is a start. The injury on pitch should be another as should the concussion rules. Also you hardly ever see players backchatting the ref.

A very youthful squad heading over to Paris. Greenwood, garner, Gomes and Chong included. Also Brandon Williams has been called up for the first time too, a young left back who's just stepped up into the 23s.

Regardless of the result this is a chance for ole to see some of these kids in action and see how they handle playing in a big game. It's a really tough ask for them, but it will a great opportunity for them, hopefully no overreactions if we do concede a few. As long as we see a fully committed performance I'll be happy enough.

good post Caolan, out of that group of young lads I can only see garner or chong starting but hopefully we see gomes and greenwood as well, like you said i'm not expecting too much result wise just a fully commited effort from the lads.

It will probably be :
Lukaku, Rash and Dalot up front.
Fred, McTominay and Peirera in midfield.
Shaw, Lindelof, Smalling and Young in defense.

Chong/ Greenwood from the bench hopefully.

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 13:06:45
I think we could see greenwood play, Only a guess though. Ole has namedropped him a lot from his first day in charge. Maybe play him on the right? But it would make sense to start with the side TRD has suggested. But we have nothing to lose and I won’t complain if we see a lot of these kids.

05 Mar 2019 14:15:27
I think we’ll see a back 3 tomorrow. Midfield is very weak, and we need some protection behind them. Our best bet is to use Rashford and Lukaku to hit them on the break.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2019 15:54:22
When Rashford burst onto the scene he was thrust into a European Game 2nd leg with us 2-1 down and scored 2. He then scored 2 against our next opponents Arsenal.

Well here we are again. Down in Europe and Arsenal up next. Greenwood to match or better Rashford’s start with 2 hat-tricks. One can only dream.

Review Of The Day 5th March 2019

{Ed's Note - Ed001 has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 5th March 2019

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I fear that Wednesday will be another reality check for us. Our first pick. Midfield three were not up to the challenge in the home leg so to expect their replacements to do any better is not sensible. I also got the feeling that PSG really eased off the throttle once they got a good lead so if they decide to have a real go at us it coukd be a real beating. Whatever the result this tie should give the manager and board a truer understand of how badly we need to improve to compete.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

05 Mar 2019 07:19:57
I actually think its the opposite.
We are about to play one if the best teams in the world, away with a massively depleted squad .
I don't think there is any reality check, its a massive ask .

Agree4 Disagree1

05 Mar 2019 09:11:23
The game was even until martial and lingard were forced off.

Yes they are a quality side with some quality players but that counts for nothing if the other team has more desire and heart.

As long as we give 100 percent and leave the pitch with no regrets I'll be happy. What will be will be

We need a good performance to take into Sunday's massive game.

05 Mar 2019 10:40:21
Seems like every match now is a reality check for us according to some. Just like the Soton match with sanchez's injury, maybe throwing a spanner in the works will lead to a positive result. Fingers crossed.

I agree i don't see it as a reality Che n at all.
We jnow the squad is weak in certain areas that's not in question.
Sometimes adversity means that the remaining fit players pull together and can achieve results in one off games or over short periods that they would not necessarily achieve over a longer sustained period.
It really is a no lose situation for ole and the players.

Agree4 Disagree5

05 Mar 2019 18:59:22
Agreed. I think for the first time in years we are being realistic. We know the squad cannot challenge for a title or Champions League right now.

So one of the new rules being integrated next season is no rebounds from a penalty. Out of all the things the game needs tweaking, this one is an absolute joke. What is the point in changing that?
