Ed, when is the first time that a transfer can be officially announced? Thanks.

{Ed007's Note - A transfer can be announced any time as long as all parties involved are in agreement.}

Thanks ed.

Well watching Liverpool's title dreams get torn apart in 10 minutes is priceless! But it's not over yet, haha.

Looking forward to the summer now, not going to go into who we are going to sign and not sign but the manager who comes in I hope he gets the right players that suits thier style, unlike moyes.

Hope giggs plays a bold attacking team to end the season on a high.

Last thing, not united related but who will win CL? And who will be the match winner/ game decider in the game( player)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Looking for a tip Trev? Calling the guru GCU centre stage.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not betting anything major on it. Too difficult to call. Also will depend on any injuries to key players from now as they are all involved in a major tussle for the league title.

Agree0 Disagree0

Am going for A.Madrid 2-1 R.Madrid

Turan (2) and Pepe.

I would like to ask a question all all those who think that we won't sign any of these top players. Firstly, why won't we? Secondly, do you not think van Gaal is going to clear the poor players out and want the best? What do you think he is going to do if not focus on getting these players?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fresh i'm pretty sure if its van gaal he will know who he wants. My only concern is if Woodward can actually get the deals accepted and completed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think LvG will stipulate who he wants and have some say in how he gets them, or he won't take the job.
Some players are not going to like him, but they are the ones that will be shown the door. That's how it should be in my opinion.
I think LvG will have the pull that Woodward doesn't so I still think we'll get who we need!

Agree0 Disagree0

Depends what we really have to spend, for owners who have not really backed the club i'm just sceptical over the figures being bandied about.hope it is genuine but time will tell.

Well we have had a rotten season and nothing to shout about or celebrate. However there are those rare times where I experience pure joy from Football and I and one of those moments tonight when palace scored their 3rd goal. Classic only the scouters can blow a 3 goal lead with 25 minutes to go LOL.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

They were 3 up, 12 min to go

Agree0 Disagree0

And that Gerrard chant by the Palace fans too

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes - the only consolation is how far ahead of you we have finished

Agree0 Disagree0

Your being way too kind mate lol.

3 goals in the last 11 mins they fell apart :). Suarez was crying his eyes out on the pitch!

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember the days when you guy's use to say the MU/Pool game was our cup final, now all MU fans have to celebrate is when Liverpool lose/draw (which is very rare these days), amazing how times have changed isn't it ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I'm still reading LFC fans saying they'll win the league next year so not much has changed in that way.}

They looked knackered by the 60 minute mark. Can you imagine if they had to juggle European football too? They will need to strengthen significantly in the summer and keep hold of Suarez. Can Gerrard go another whole season uninjured? This is Liverpool's chance to win a title. It will not come this easy again.

Agree0 Disagree0

You just enjoy it while it lasts puzzled.

This is just a blip and we will bounce back there's no doubt about that

Agree0 Disagree0

Damon, you're mocking Suarez for crying? he should get credit for showing he actually care's unlike the majority of the cash hungry person's who take the fans for a ride, go back to their mansions, sports cars without a care in the world ala Rooney.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Hasn't Suarez held liverpool at ransom before?}

Normal service will be resumed next season: we will be back fighting at the top and Liverpool will be scrapping it out for a Europa cup spot. :)

All jokes aside, Liverpool have played well this season, but are far from being a team capable of challenging over a long period. This season was their best chance. Next season will be a lot tougher. A lot will depend on who they sign in the summer; but they don't have the funds needed to bring in 4 or 5 really top draw players', which they will need to be able to have a chance of competing again next season. The likes of Aspas and co just won't cut it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets wait and see when Real come a knocking at the Suarez door

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez and his private jets home and back. neck like a jockeys ^^^^^^$ to slag of rooneys demands

Agree0 Disagree0

That was the best thing I've seen all season. Jamie carraghaer trying to explain the scousers demise is so funny.
Plymouth, you have played very well this season, but everything went for you lot this year, and finally, it caught up with you.
Magic!

Agree0 Disagree0

The jet was J.Henry's demand not Suarez's, he had little choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note -Perhaps it's about questions of translation or context....

Plymouth,

Not interested in who wins the League when United don't but Liverpool have choked. your world class defence is not - still laughing at your Sack-o reference from a few weeks back to be honest. and your manager is just another wannabe.

Deny it, deflect it, dismiss it all you want. but this was your chance. it may not come around again, for a very long time.

That's Liverpools reality mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suarez was pretending to cry because we all know he's going to be on his way. Hope all you scousers enjoyed it while it lasted. How is it possible to feel this happy after finishing 7th?

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool have played some great football this season and deserve recognition for that. But there is absolute no doubt they've choked big time as soon as the immense pressure of knowing you have to win just a handful of games to be champions has dawned on them.

I don't have an issue with Suarez or Stevie G crying. Why would I? It makes GREAT TV :)

This season was Liverpool's big chance to re-emerge as a major force and thankfully they've blown it. Burden of playing in Europe next season and likelihood Suarez will leave whenever Real show their hand coupled with Stevie G being one more title-less year older makes it inevitable.

And before the Liverpool fans don their curly wigs and say 'ey ey ey' does anyone really doubt United won't be back in contention next season with a Champs League & multiple league winning manager in charge with £150-200m to spend?

Unlucky Liverpool. Played some great football but that's not what winning a league is about. Need more than skill and flair. You need bottle. You need heart. Things you can't buy. And you just ain't got em.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plymouth and Puzzled. the fact it's you two on a United page and not us on a Liverpool page, says it all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Puzzled and Plymouth Red, don't waste your time on here, LFC have just set up a helpline for any inconsolable fans: the number is 0845 30313233!

Agree0 Disagree0

THalesini, I honestly can not see LVG doing that good of a job, the majority of his success came in the 90's and most with Ajax who at the time had an amazing crop of youngsters coming through the academy.

Scotbos, Sakho is a quality defender and will go onto be a WC centre half, we'll be challenging year in year out, you're just hoping it was a one off, Rodgers is a wannabe? am pretty sure you'd love him at United, in 2 years he's took us from 7th to 2nd with minimal cash spent compared to his peers, whilst playing extravagant football.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Plymouth Red but what trophies has Rogers won in his managerial career? Think its a nice round number and didn't he get the sack at Reading because they were bottom of the league?

He and Liverpool have done well this season but next year the PL will be tougher. Chelsea will improve and if they had a world class striker they would of won the PL this year. Man City will be better as will Utdl. Arsenal will probably improve a little and Liverpool will also bolster their squad. However the downside for Liverpool will be that their squad will be tested in terms of its depth when playing in the CL in addition to the PL.
Suppose SAF was only and 80's and 90's coach like LVG only being a 90's coach. Youv'e been listening too much to Carragher!

Last night was pure magic!

Agree0 Disagree0

Van Gaal won the Bundesliga in 2009/10.That's the German equivalent of the Premier League, that's the one Brendan Rogers' team threw away last night. Hence the tears. Muller and Schweinsteiger flourished while he was there. They've not done bad with what he left behind either. He also brought in Robben. He's done alright also.
To be honest, he does worry me a bit though. If he is given time and space and the club buy in to his ethos, he will have us playing and challenging again.
He wasn't my first choice, nor second, but his credentials speak for themselves, regardless of the timescale. One thing for sure, it won't be dull, on or off the pitch. If he is the next manager of course.
Obviously, for the record and for many reasons, Rogers will NEVER manage United. We're better than that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hoggy, Fergie clearly had success in the 2000's you clown, you're going to goon a long dry trophy less patch, without Fergie you're nothing. As much as it pains me to say it the bloke was a genius.

As for Rodgers having won nothing, every manager has to start somewhere and am pretty certain the majority of United fans would take Rodgers without any hesitation.

Agree0 Disagree0

With us being back next season the best u can hope for is fighting it out with Everton, arsenal, spurs for 4th

Agree0 Disagree0

7th to 2nd Plymouth? So I take you have also conceded the title? When I looked at the table this morning I thought you were still top?
The sight of the diving, cheating, canabalistic water rat blabbing his eyes out at the end like some demented child on the naughty step made my night. Ha Ha Ha!

Agree0 Disagree0

Poor Plymouth, if only Gerrard didn't spend the whole day before the Chelsea game listening to that Underworld song. If only, sigh.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sparky, is your crystal ball for sale by any chance?

The only consolation I can take from this season is how close Liverpool came to winning the title. I was kind of hoping they'd lose it on goal difference on the last day - but seeing Suarez in tears was priceless. Couldn't happen to a nicer person!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - it isn't over yet mate. City nearly bottled it to qpr a few seasons ago}

This is true - but this will give City a massive boost. I think it's more likely that Liverpool will drop points against Newcastle than City will against Villa or West Ham.

Interestingly the three teams left who have a say in who wins the title all had good results this weekend having been on poor runs.

Agree0 Disagree0

City need four points from Villa and West Ham at the Etihad. Villa without Benteke and both Villa and West Ham with nothing left to play for. Aguero will be a massive miss for City if he is injured. I suspect he is. One thing I have noticed with City since the Palace game is that they are not letting the defenders push forward. They are not taking any risks so it will be difficult for Villa to catch them on the break for that very reason. And Villa only score from counter attacks. If City beat Villa on Wednesday, they go into the final game needing to avoid defeat at home against West Ham. Personally I think they will get six points from these last two games and they will be Champions. Not good to see agreed, but it's the lesser of two evils.

Agree0 Disagree0

They will win both and Aguero is a loss but they have enough quality in midfield and upfront to deal with those 2 teams even without Aguero.

I have a feeling one of the games will be a very lopsided score and might bet on a over 5.5 or something like that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lesser of 2 evils? I know for most City or Liverpool winning the league is like finding out your brother or your best mate is having an affair with the wife to paraphrase Gary Nev. To be honest it's not for me. I'm 42 so prior to 20+ glory years winning everything with Fergie I've seen some very dire United sides most of which were in contrast to Liverpool dominating domestically and in Europe. That's where my rivalry is born from. Watching us be crap for another season and watching them win it all. Playing out as a kid with 7 Liverpool tops in every team of 11.

24 years since Liverpool won the league? I hope we get a flag to celebrate/taunt them with just like we used to do for City's trophy less years (I miss that lol). Another year when Liverpool don't win that league means a hell of a lot to me.

So if we can't win it, it's Anyone But Liverpool for me, and I do mean anyone.

I am a bit confused about yesterday's poll on Giggs. We have 98% yes and 3% no. Maths was not my best subject, but how have you done that?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Experience tells me Liverpool supporters did the analysis.}

Probably 97.5% and 2.5% and they both get rounded up. Pretty common mistake in a lot of polls.

Agree0 Disagree0

Priceless Ed 002 ;-) . It had nothing to do with the Essien calculator, did it?

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 17:14:56
If I was Giggs, I would play a few under 21's tomorrow night for example, varela, Pererria, Wilson and Rothwell! I'd love to see this but I severely doubt we will but it would be great for Giggs to give these players their chance imo! Almost along the lines of how SAF gave him and the rest their chance, he could leave a new era behind despite only a 4 game spell! We have some quality players in the under 21s and some really deserve a chance! What do you guys think?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Definitely agree and I'm sure a few others on here will as well. There are some promising players in the U21 side who could get a chance given that the team has nothing left to play for. However, I feel like this is also the final opportunity for a few players to put themselves in the shop window so to speak but it might be a little late for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giggs wouldn't risk it because he knows that no matter what when a decision is made in a few years about his future these results will be quoted not how he bled some youth.

I would prefer to see some new energy, but Giggs needs results for his long term future unfortunately.

Agree0 Disagree0

After his 1st press conference I was impressed and excited, but since then, his pronouncements along with his latest team selection have been very disappointing. With nothing to play for, play your 'best' team and send them out to attack. Blood some youth and see how they get on. Come on Ryan, show some cojones

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree.
Why not? We could argue we stand a better chance of winning the games also with some youthful energy in the team with a point to prove.
Why play vidic, rio, evra, carrick and fletcher?
As good as they once were they most definately aren't good enough now. let's look to the future and a bright new era.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, Giggs looks like he's finding it hard to make the jump from teammate to manager. Too many of his friends are finding their way into the starting 11, and while Evra and Ferdinand are looking for new contracts, I can't see them being ditched.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tomorrow will be a send off for the likes of Vidic, Evra etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny, LVG is going to have no sentiment. Evra, Ferdinand, Young, Nani and many more I'm sure will be gone within a few weeks of his appointment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Danny

Or maybe Giggs sees what the managers before him saw as the group he is playing are still the best compared to others in the squad even when you consider their age, which would be worrying. Remember he is around them all day and sees and hears things that none of us see.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 17:03:09
There are a number of press reports suggesting that Van Gaal (assuming he's appointed) should be made to keep the class of 92 on as assistants.

As a basic principle, if you are going to appoint a manager then you have to let him manage, which means he should not be forced to keep anyone on unless he sees them as a part of the team. Giggs, Butt, Scholes and Neville have yet to demonstrate they can translate their success as players to the art of management. If their coaching philosophy is different to that of Van Gaal, and they cannot adapt to the changes he will impose, then they need to go. If he is willing to keep any or all of them on they should regard these next couple of years as an opportunity to learn something other than SAF's way. If you go to University to study philosophy you don't just study one philosopher. It is only by comparison of the thoughts and ideas of those who went before that one arrives at one's own philosophy.

Even under the best of circumstances, if LVG takes them into his coaching setup, he runs the risk that they will be whining to SAF when they don't like what he is doing. If they are caught doing that they should be dismissed immediately. Managing is not a democracy, it is making decisions. To be successful everyone needs to be pulling together. Disloyalty needs to be dealt with quickly and without sentiment. Unless the Board adopts this view, they run the risk of hamstringing the new manager from day one.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pea I'm all for having the class of 92 hanging around and making a contribution but the only that concerns me is that Giggs recently stated that Rio and Evra deserve new contracts.

I read a stat that when Kagawa starts we have 100% win record. must be doing something right.

JK92

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I assume in premiership? We lost vs Bayern with him}

And vs Everton away last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I clearly remember Coleman embarrassing Kagawa throughout the 75 minutes Kagwa was on the field in the Everton game which we lost 2-0.

So JK92 I believe you have the wrong stats.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - I do remember reading the stat before the Everton game tbf. Might just have been games he had completed or something}

Such stats can be misleading. I read something along the lines. We haven't lost a game that Kagawa completed but he rarely started( and finished ) a big game so.

Agree0 Disagree0

That stat isn't true I'm afraid. Remember we lost 3-2 at home to Spurs last season? Kagawa started that game too.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's when he's played 90 mins.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah sorry it's 90min.

JK92

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately; Kagawa is often the one who's sacrificed when we are losing - so it's probable that our record where he stays on is good.

I rate Kagz highly but he does go missing every now and again. That said he needs a good run in the side.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 14:37:43
Hope everyone is enjoying the bank holiday. It is a shame that we are not playing our u21 midfield in the first team. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain. We will never know how good these players are unless we try them out. So two of them could be playing in the first team.
They could not do any worse than the ones who played against Sunderland.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 May 2014 09:10:49
Is van gal definitely going to be our next manager?
Or is pep and ancheloti still in the running?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Pretty nailed on it will be LVG I'd say, prob confirmed this week according to various media. I Wanted Klopp initially but I think van Gaal might be exactly what United need right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

I live on the same street as him in Portugal and it is a resort. Rumour all week is that he'll be named manager on Wednesday.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 08:51:49
Who do so many people keep saying we should sell Hernandez? Proven goal scorer scored nearly as much as Rooney last year and played a lot less.
Don't know how you would fit them in but I would love to see RVP Chicarito mata and kagawa in the same team playing together.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think kagawa and chicharito would be the odd ones out in a LVG first XI I think both deserve to play more and so I think perhaps it best Hernandez and Kags are sold unless both are happy being squad players.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is useless that's why Draig. I could name 15 better strikers in the prem alone. He isn't even good at poaching any more, have you watched him this season, Jelavic & Long look better?

Agree0 Disagree0

He is unable to play football: however much he is a goal poacher.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is useless? Haha. He has the 5th highest goal per minute ration in premier league history and he never gets a run to pick up form! He certainly wouldn't start for me but for a striker to bring off the bench he is worth every penny. Chelsea bench striker Ba, arsenal podolski, Liverpool borini when he's back, chic is better than all these. Plus, he would score a lot more if we had a midfield. He makes intelligent runs but the ball is so slow he's often caught offside! Purely down to a sh*t midfield! Get a grip

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah there are some wild comments being thrown about here. He is not useless, his off the ball movement really is world class. What let's him down is his ball control, dribbling and passing.

He's looked useless in recent seasons because he's the kind of striker that excels with a good fully functioning midfield. For example when we had Scholes, that was Chica's best season because Scholes could constantly pick out his runs, at the moment he is wasted in our team.

Ideally I'd like to keep him because I think we'll make good use of him after some decent signings but I'd understand if he'd want to leave to become more of a main striker rather than back up.

Agree0 Disagree0

When Liverpool won everything in the 80s they had Ian rush who was just a poacher did nothing else but knew where the goal was.
Hernandez for me is underrated not been given a fair chance because the midfield is so poor.
We have 2 defensive minded players in cm at the mo in fletcher and carrick who are both past their best. I was never a fan of carrick even though I thought that technically he was a good player he lacked the mental toughness that scholes keane etc had when the going got tough he just withdraw into his shell. Fletcher commendable to come back after a long time out but game has moved on in my opinion. Would be a great signing for the likes of Stoke or Newcastle or hull maybe?

Agree0 Disagree0

Useless was a bit excessive, but useless compared to what we need and expect at Utd. Where does all this great to come on as a sub stuff come from? He has done next to nothing every time I have seen him come on and when he has started he has been worse!

What striker wouldn't perform with Scholes picking the pass?

Aguero, Negredo, Dzeko, Giroud, Sturridge, Suarez, Bony, Adebayor, Benteke, Lukaku, Rooney, RVP, Remy off the top of my head are all far better.

Then you have many others who would offer much more to the team whether starting or coming on in my opinion. I won't bother listing them as they can all be argued.

People are just suckered in by the nice kid the media hyped when he first arrived. He was a revelation in the same way that so many others are when they first arrive. I have seen nothing of note since that first season. He has lost that yard, he has no sense of offside, poor first touch, bad passing and a tendency to be 1 foot away from balls whipped in or to scuff shots when laid on for him. Even his goals are often scuffs. If he played for a mid table team he would never be mentioned, Odemwingie but slower.

He brings nothing to the table, I would much rather Welbeck and dozens of other players to start upfront.

Agree0 Disagree0

I understand your point about Rush, but Hernandez isn't in the same league pace wise, that is the major problem. He has lost that yard he had whether through injuries or poor coaching. The rest of his game isn't good enough and now he lacks that yard he will never cut it at our level which is why we hardly see him and when we do it is almost like he hasn't played anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was absoluteley crap on saturday, not the only one by the way but he contributed nothing in 90 minutes and what icouldnt get my head round was that we played him as the lone striker but he was out on the wings more than in the middle.his ball control is very poor

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Nani, Young and Hernandez were in the shop window on Saturday. Nothing to play for anymore, shame we aren't playing the kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 08:48:35
If the new manager kept mata and kagawa do you think they will both play and if yes where would you play them?
Could kagawa do the same job as kroze from bm in cm with a defensive cm like carvalio alongside him?
Or would one be cover for the other?
Or would one of them be sold?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For what they've done, sell them both

Agree0 Disagree0

To me, as much as I love Kags, I think he may just be a squad player if he stays and so for him I think he deserves to move somewhere that he will play.

Agree0 Disagree0

A manager who likes direct, fast attacking football will value Kagawa very highly, just like Klopp did.

I think LVG would use him as we know he likes players with a lot of skill and technical ability, I could think of 10 other players I'd rather see go than Shinji!

Agree0 Disagree0

Only would like to see kagawa go if reus was part of the deal.

Hey guys just for fun which transfer do you guys think wil be the top transfer of 2014 summer in european footbal and for us as wel.
I think suarez to real and for utd vidal or reus.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Suarez is Madrids third choice behind Aguero and Cavani, Suarez won't leave this summer, especially after the season we've just had.

biggest transfer will be Hazard to PSG for £50million+.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2014 01:56:05
Potentially Cavani to whoever he signs for too

Agree0 Disagree0

Plymouth, am not sure for a 40M+ forward Aguero will represent good value for Real's money considering he is injured for practically half the season. I think Real will be keen on a forward and Cavani being unsettled at PSG and Suarez having previously publicly asked to leave will be the two top targets

Agree0 Disagree0

Barca wil sign top players this summer because of borrowed time they got by appealing their ban and with their performance this season. Real want to mke statement by buying players more famous than barca have bought like in case of neymar and bale I thnk they wil try for suarez being the top player in england this season

Agree0 Disagree0

Cavani, Fabregas or Reus if any of those move.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Aguero is sold it would be for more than Cavani. He just oozes class. I can't see City letting Aguero go. Wouldn't be surprised to see Rooney go to Madrid.

Scousers will struggle to keep Suarez, but I'd call it 50/50.

Cavani to Chelsea is where I'd put my money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah goofy to Madrid!
