Isn't that what Champions do? Grind out DIRTY 1-0 wins? We all want pretty football, but if we win games playing like a Championship side, it won't bother me! As every manager has said at least once in his career, "we're in a results business"!

Did you know that after 11 games last season we were on 23 points and in 2nd position, this season we are on 26 points after 11 games and in 2nd place. And to be fair our first ten games have been very difficult fixtures this season. We are playing poorly at the moment, but importantly we are grinding out results, lets just hope we can snap out of this slump in time for the Swansea game. Hopefully Young, Rafael and Cleverley will be back for then and we will have both Cleverley & Jones as midfield options. Have faith lads, we will be back firing soon and City still have to play three teams that beat them last season, Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea.

cant belive my eyes , after the drivel that lpool and utd have played on the pitch lately , watching man city - they are on a compleply different level , if we dont improve its closer to midtable for us , and if your luck runs out , which it surley will , it will be outside the top four for you , telling the truth as always............lfc

I have many a favourite moments being a United fan while under Sir Alex ferguson. The Treble in 99/00, Beating Chelsea in the Champions League Final, Beckham's Wondergoal against Wimbledon etc etc but what i wanna know is what are your favourite ever moments?

Mine has gotta be the treble, specially the come back we mounted against Bayern that special night. :) Cried at 1 nil down, picked myself up at 1-1 and cried again at 2-1.

Ok poor again, but 3 points on the table is nothing to be turned down.

Hopefully we can get midfield sorted now that the backline are all pretty much fit.

As for the rest:

Chelsea struggled to beat the worst team in the league, so i think they are struggling as much as we are at the moment. Whats their excuse?

City only just edged QPR, if teams have a go they can score.

Arsenal beat West Brom no surprises.

And our dear Scouse friends struggled to beat Swansea, wait sorry i got that wrong? They drew? At home? To Swansea? A championship team? What do you mean Swansea deserved to win? Swansea were they better team? Well i never. Really? O dear. Not so close to us after all then eh.

Well the only positive thing we can take from today is 3 points. It was once again a woeful performance with every player dropping far too deep and inviting the other team on. All you clowns who criticised Carrick might now be seeing what Fergie sees in him and what he brings to the side. We looked far more composed when he played. I feel very sorry for Mad Paddy but he played as though his thoughts were with his brother and not on the pitch i don't know why he played. Now let me get on to the wonderful irony of Rooney criticising Ravel about his attitude to the club. I think the words pot and kettle come to mind. We are in desperate need of a leader at the moment as when the pressure builds up and opposing teams come at us no body stands up and galvanises the team. All it does for me is just make me realise how very special Scholes was as even now he is better than anyone playing in that position at the moment. I can't believe that liverpool supporters are coming on our site to talk about their results. What do they think their page is for? In Dogleash we trust. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Anyone think Hazard would be a hugely sensible choice, a natural left footer to replace Giggs with some real world class talent. And also he can play behind the striker - would give us that Ronaldo threat back! Thoughts please?

I don't want to be negative but personaly i think we didn't have an impressive performance but I can say that few players are getting their games back. Nani looked lost sometimes, but lack of confidence of the whole squad is scary. We need to who convincely in order to boost our confidence and start showing again who's UNITED.

We really need a creative CM and DM, and maybe try a 4-2-3-1 to really combine the attacking and defence properly. We suffer to much to keep the result. But we're changing. Hopefuly with some new players, I mean the right ones to bring something new and more quality.

Rooney is a WORLD CLASS DUDE ON THIS GAME. I'd love to see either Gotze, WS, Hazzard or a good and creative AM just to see Rooney in front again. Since he start playing in the CM we've been struggling to score goals. I hope to have Clev, Young, Rafa and Smalling back.
3 pts in the bag.

Yes we can. I do believe...

Congratulations Sir Alex! 25 years is some achievement. If you take a step back and look at all he's achieved, it's scary. Performances haven't been fantastic lately, in the league or in Europe. And yes, midfielder(s) are needed. But it would be nice to have a day without the usual bickering. Sir Alex's milestone is more important than the team's performance today.

Was anyone else as disappointed with that performance as I was? It felt like there was no conviction, enthusiasm or passion. Althought Nani looked a bit better for about 10 min in todays game. His performances of late have been non-existant. I know I'm being very negative but it was such a boring game and I'm just very disappointed even though we won. I know its a bad patch and we will improve ( hopefully with a couple of signings in january ), just really want to see us playing some decent footie.

Wayne Rooney has taken to Twitter to publicly rebuke Ravel Morrison, the youngster billed as Manchester United's next home-grown star, following the youngster's angry reaction to being an unused substitute in Thursday's reserve-team clash with Everton.

Attacking midfielder Morrison, the stand-out performer in United's FA Youth Cup triumph last season, made a 20-minute cameo appearance for the first team during the League Cup victory at Aldershot last month.

But the 18-year-old aired his displeasure at being left on the bench during the 2-0 win against Everton, tweeting: "P**s take" and "I can not waite (sic) till the end of the season" shortly after the final whistle.

United team-mate Rooney hit back at Morrison by tweeting that the end of the season "might come sooner than u think!!!"

Morrison replied to Rooney by tweeting: "What do you mean :/" after appearing to backtrack on his earlier tweets by insisting that "end of season means holiday time." (© Daily Telegraph, London)

if rvp does not sign a new contract at arsenal. and keeps fit... would love to see him sign in the summer....

quality player when fit.....

a front 4 of

rooney
rvp
herdandez
wellback

and keane.... AS backup...

also if we were to play 4-3-3 with rooney either injured or suspended then he would slot right in and be a better option the the others we have at present for this role...

from the 75th minute apart from one surging run by rooney (our best player by a mile again) it was wave on wave of sunderland attacks.......

seriously we are at home against a mid table team......we should be doing more...

the sooner everyone is fit so we can see the real team that fergie thinks will win the league the better......

Good team performance today imo. Lacking Rooney's conviction and work rate up top. However he is really looking good in midfield, hope he doesnt play there permanently. Really think we need him up top with Chicha or else Chicha just ends up isolated. Park played well today, good to see vidic playing solidly. Evra wasn't too bad either. Still dont see why we bring berba on, he does nothing for us.

As a measure of Manchester United's success under Sir Alex Ferguson, by the way, they have picked up over 200 points more than the next most successful team in the Premier League era, which is Arsenal. United have amassed 1597 points to Arsenal's 1395.

Team for today-

Lindegaard, Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Rooney, Park, Welbeck, Hernandez. Subs: De Gea, Evans, Fabio, Carrick, Valencia, Diouf, Berbatov.

Anderson not in the team, probably because of rotation but possibly because of his awful performance on Wednesday. Rooney in CM again and Welbeck and Hernandez up front so no complaints there. Defence the best we can have with Cleverly out and De Gea being rested. Hopefully we Fletcher a more defensive midfielder than Anderson in the team Rooney will be able to push further forward.

A few guys were talking about Pogba's contract and why we've left it so late to sign him on a new deal, well i thought I'd give my take on it.

1) Regardless of what people say on here Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley, Park and Giggs are all good footballers, who are all CURRENTLY better than Pogba, so to say that Pogba see's our poor midfield and would wonder why he's not being played is just stupid.

2) Who's to say we're not currently talking to him? The way I see it is Pogba will be given more chances between now and the end of the season, from those chances we'll see just how good he is and I think that's what we're doing, I think we're all so sure he's going to hack it at the top level, but for some reason he may not, so I believe we're just playing it safe to see if he's ready yet. I think he is and I think he'll get given the contract he wants.

3) Now I'm assuming that Pogba is on pennies at the moment, so what if both him and his agent believe he should be on the sort of money which players such as cleverley, Anderson and the Twins are on even though he hasn't earnt it?

There's a lot more to think about than just, we haven't got him on a new deal so we don't care. He may be greedy, we might be fearing for his future, etc. to be fair, the way he's being spoken about in the papers you start to get the impression that he thinks at the tender age of 18 that he has the god given right to play in our first team, now I don't know if that's his attitude or not and maybe one of the posters who's spoken to him personally may give insight. but if the papers are portraying him how he actually is then it's an awful attitude to have.

Hi, my question is to syd as he seems to be a big admirer of pogba. So syd, why exactly aren't we playing pogba because i think this is the most appropriate opportunity for him to play as our midfield is full of injuries, and do you think he's eventually going to sign a new contract with us or leave just like pique or rossi did?

What's the reall Pogba situation? If the guy is a really promise y we waited to renew the contract till now, that alot of interest from other clubs are really coming on?

We didn't bought a CM because the younger guys could get opportunities to play, but we always play with same stupid and poor players at CM and I'll not judge Pogba if he wants to go for more first-team play, because at United he'll be a promisse till next season with few games only again. We end up with Carrick, Ando, Park, Fletcher and Pobga and Morrison won't have reall opportunities again next season. Doesn't matter how good they did in the past, if they can't be usefull let them go give this guys ao opportunities for at least see what are they worth on more competitive games, because is the only way for him to gain experience. Done.

I'm surprised that i haven't seen anything on here today about the Mail's spot on us apparenty watching Kwadwo Asamoah. I know it's paper talk but i was just wondering what people think of him. He's a powerful strong in the tackle midfielder who has great control and composeur and a kean eye for a pass, he can also play on the left.
From the couple of times i've seen him he has caught my eye but i don't watch much italian football so i've only seen him no more than 4/5 times and am wondering if anyone else has seen enough of him to have a more informed opinion.
From what i've seen he could be an excellent midfield partner for Cleverley, he seems to have the Steel we've been missing in the centre since Roy Keanes departure.

So what do people think of him?
