Use our rumours form to send us manchester united transfer rumours.

Sarcasm side, I made 3 predictions at the start of the year. I got the united prediction wrong but I did say Villa would finish in the top half and Norwich would be relegated. Looks like 2 out of 3 might happen. I like Villa and Norwich since '75 when they got promoted with us, and bizarrely finished 2nd and 3rd when we won the league in '93 (spooky). Shame but I think Norwich are doomed.

Earlier on in the season I mentioned I thought Morgan schneiderlin would be a quality signing. With the season getting closer to finish and more games have passed, what do people think of him and would you be happy if he was signed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I would be}

I think he is a very good young player who would be a great addition to our squad. I too championed his earlier in the season. He alone would not sort our midfield, but he would be an excellent signing to play alongside someone like Vidal for example. It is widely expected that United will make 4 or 5 signings in the summer, but they won't all be "world class" ( I know, a phrase too readily used). If we can get 2 or 3 top class players, a couple of good young players would compliment that very well and would make it a very successful transfer window. I think Schneiderlin fits that profile very .

nicolai boilesen from ajax? worth a look for new left back? good enough or not? also what ever happened to our interest in viktor fischer? it kinda went dead?

cheers guys, scott.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Boileson is very skillful and good going forward. I think de Boer now plays Daley Blind as a CDM to accomadate both. Jaro Riedeweld also coming through could tempt Ajax to sell. Fischer has had an average season, fe wi njurys and not many goals tbh. not as great as first seemed me thinks also the emergance of Kishna could further hamper his progress

Agree0 Disagree0

All this conspiracy theories with refs is pure BS. Yes some penalties/fouls are given, yes some players are booked/sent off, while others are let go. If you believe Refs are biased, good luck finding the arc of the covenant.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not a conspiracy theory but an observation on a team that has won quite a few (five or six I believe) penalties this year from diving and not by just one player, but everyone across their front three and Coutinho does it too. Go ahead and check it out, they dive and have been awarded penalties like no one else.

It sure stirred up a hornets nest LOL

The referring in the PL is generally poor and not a week goes by that these guys do not have a howler.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool have had several "Spanish" penalties this season and have had a lot of good fortune. But as they say, you make your own luck. As much as it pains me to say it, they are where they are on merit, not luck. They deserve to be up there, though I still think City and Chelsea will finish above them.
Despite their good season, the only new items that will need polishing at Anfield this summer are Brenda's teeth:)

Agree0 Disagree0

GCU your hatred for Liverpool is embarrassing, we win so many penalties because we actually take the game to the opposition instead of sitting back all timid like you lot, you also have some of the worse divers in the league in Young and Nani.

I read a fact the other day about Rodgers, how his Swansea side had something like 15 penalties in the Championship and 13 in the Premiership, which proves it's his philosophy that causes this.

WE'RE GOING TO WIN THE LEAGUE!

P.s Sorry if this is posted twice, it said I wasn't logged in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh GCU, five or six? grow up, at most one, Sturridge against your shower. And he'd skinned Vidic anyway.

This from a team with Januzaj, Young, Nani and more recently Shrek (swan dive, Bayern) proving to be some of the worst divers in the league.

See you on ITV 4

Agree0 Disagree0

Plymouth

I agree BR trains his teams well, You lot are the spanish version of an english team and excellent at coning refs and a diving team.

He also never sees anything wrong with them either but then again he thinks Suarez is an outstanding citizen too, I think you should give him the keys to the city:)

5 or 6 walton go check out the figures.

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool fans,

Remember the last 20 years when you guys said the only reason we won the league every year was because of the refs and how they were scared of fergie? Not nice is it.

Never heard so many hypocrits in my life.

Agree0 Disagree0

GCU that's why I said the other week it was like the 70's and 80's - we look crap and boring at times and Liverpool are near the top and Mr Pen is one of their top scorers.

Have to say I'm glad Everton won today, will be extremely interesting to see how they cope if they do end up with champions league and also how Arsenal deal with Europa because their squad is actually thinner than it looks imo. We should be fine with Europa league season given our squad depth and hopefully some of our young talent is given a chance to shine on the European stage

Just out of interest what would everyone's preferred result be in the Everton arsenal game to gives us the best chance of a higher placed finish. I'm undecided whether a draw would be better to still hope for 4th or an arsenal win for 5th considering we still have to go to goodison!

As a foot note I really hope we look at Ross Barkley in the summer.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Even if we win the remaining games I can't see us finishing above 6th place so I've no interest.

Agree0 Disagree0

Everton win for me :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Prefer Everton to win as Arsenal have won the 4th place cup too often
Everton when we play them will provide us with far more of a challenge than Newcastle did

Agree0 Disagree0

Carloto,

What a terrible attitude, we have to be there or thereabouts if arsenal or Everton or both let us in. If we beat Everton and arsenal don't win their next 2 games we will have a chance, it's very unlikely don't get me wrong but we can't give up, winning the last 6 games would be great going into next season, and shutting the Everton fans up would be great in a couple of weeks.

Agree0 Disagree0

Interesting result, it keeps our hopes alive for 4th place. If we win at Goodison, it would make it very interesting. Need arsenal to drop some more points :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is the fact that I have no interest in the Everton Arsenal game showing a terrible attitude? I believe we can win every game remaining but don't believe those above will drop enough points for us to overtake them. It's called realism.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carloto, you'll get used to gds, he's like the opinion police on here as his is the only opinion that counts, his other job is defending sydney to the death not that he needs defending.

Agree0 Disagree0

Youse ain't catching us.we will destroy your deams at goodison soon

Agree0 Disagree0

I love it should get fantastic odds on us against the you lot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfield general

He's not the police, he's a regular respected poster, something you should perhaps aspire to.

Agree0 Disagree0

God, you won't get better odds than I got when we won at your ground

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh I am so upset now and that really hurt and very original. LOL

The manchester teams will put an end to any scouse uprising I say LOL.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - joining forces with the noisy neighbours now GCU?..oh how things have slipped.. :)

Midfield general,

You got a personal problem or something? Read all my posts, I assume me agreeing with Sydney a couple of times in 4 years is me 'defending him to the death'. I don't think this post said my opinion was the only one that matters, I think that the attitude of thinking we don't stand a chance is a rubbish one, it was hardly offensive.

Thanks AJH for 'defending me to the death' much appreciated young sir ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed025

Desperate times calls for desperate measures LOL. The post was really about the red half.

I am okay with the blue half although some of your fans need to settle down and have to stop trolling this page.

For some reason your lot suddenly think they are a rival for us, which is a ludicrous thought and there seems to be resentment about the managers move and us bidding for one players from your team, which is quite childish.

The size of the 2 clubs are like David and Goliath and one good season by you guys and one bad one for us does not make us rivals or put us on par. Order will be restored next year, I guarantee you that or maybe even this year. beware of United as they say :)

Teams like Villareal, Getafe, Real Sociadad, Real Betis also had the occasional great seasons but that does not make them on par with RM or Barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you are right GCU, there are no comparisons between the two sides, the fact is...we are far superior!..and while it may be only temporary, we will enjoy every minute of it mate..

Ed025

LOL, I preferred you when you were giving the pool and arsenal fans some stick.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no one is immune to a bit of stick GCU, I just defend my clubs corner mate, I'm sure you lot will be back shortly, but you know what they say... Never give up the opportunity of kicking someone when they are down.. :)

Another cracker of a goal for Bebe against Sporting .
8 in 12 now for him . I know he'll never make it at United but nice to see he's not the total dud he seemed when we signed him.
If he keeps up this form he could earn himself a move to one of the bigger Portuguese clubs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bilko - It is nothing but our classy fans always having a go at someone or the other. I genuinely hope Bebe makes it big somewhere. United quality? May be, may be not, but the way some in here talk about him is in poor spirits IMO.

Ohh forget Bebe, we also seem to think the 2 best players in our team Rooney and RVP are somehow a part of the problem.

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha. Deeps u made me laugh . made very good point. people here have problems with our best as well as worst players.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's on 9 now :)

Scored another good goal with another reported target Mr Carvalho and his wasn't half bad either.

Agree0 Disagree0

No, no, no, and indeed no. My mate looks good on a Sunday but he wouldn't cut it in the Premier League. Please God, let's move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha I was just saying it's good to see the lad doing well, not that he's going to be our next no. 9

And by the way isn't that the same 'Sunday League' that Carvalho and Garay play in :)

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, Seriously? Tom Cleverley is your mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

Betty, quality mate, quality. And no, my mate is called Danny

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck?

I thought we were distinctly average. Against a poor Newcastle side, we should have had 6 or 7. Apart from a key part in the goals what did Kagawa contribute? Lindegaard made a few good saves but looked shaky. Mata may have scored 2 but he could have done so much more. Some of you need to calm down

Believable0 Unbelievable0

LOL

Nice one, AJH.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, as the saying goes, one penguin doesn't make a summer! I agree with you to an extent, but I don't think anyone is getting carried away. Its just nice to see us playing some good football and scoring goals. After the rubbish we have been watching for the last few months, there is nothing wrong with celebrating progress. We are all quick enough to criticise when we lose, so nothing wrong with being happy when we win, even if the opposition is not too great. You can only beat what is in front of you.
Beating a few mid table teams does not mean we are title contenders next season. The rebuilding will take time, be it with Moyes in charge or not. Like I said, nobody is getting carried away. But surely winning
4-0 away to a team that not long ago beat us at Old Trafford is worthy of a little bit of praise? If nothing else it gives the team a bit of confidence going into the biggest game of our season.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we won 20-0 some people would still be moaning

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, about the 14th goal which was clearly offside.}

Captain Betty Swollocks - The latest casualty to Gen. AJH's sarcastic missiles - Pigtail that

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

Betty I thinkk u didn't realise that Ajh was being sarcastic loll. He was aiming at those people hu complain even when we win last llollz.

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL,

Penguin? Very funny Ed. I suppose now we can expect a reply from a certain feathered friend!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - We cannot allow sexually explicit discussion.}

Ed 002 not travelling is always good for the site. I hope ed 007 is not giving you a hard time ;-)

Deeps.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I will be leaving for the airport within the hour.}

Oooops! To be honest, AJH's post looked genuine to me. Because of all the negative stuff on here, it reads just like so many others. Perhaps I should have known better simply because it was AJH!

Fair play though. I get me coat!

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol Betty, I knew someone would bite but not you.

Agree0 Disagree0

AJH, I would love to give an excuse about time zones, jet lag, hangover or even dementia etc. But I can't! I am just a gullible cretin who just read the first part of your post and jumped to a conclusion. Simples :)
The words hook, line and sinker come to mind. I am truly ashamed :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I was particularly proud of the "apart from his part in the goals, what did Kagawa do" comment

Agree0 Disagree0

Just rub it in a bit more why don't you?
I suppose I shouldn't be too hard on myself though after reading all those "bites" to Brendans post on April Fools Day lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've got to love good quality sarcasm :-)

While we're at it, I'm glad no Liverpool fan got upset with GCU's post above, I have found they are the most fair, open minded fans in football and always willing to admit when they, or one of their own, do wrong.

Now that is scarasm!

Agree0 Disagree0

Scarasm? :-)

Great to see Nani back, yeah he is inconsistent but I believe in the right system he could be amazing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I only caught the highlights, did we he do well?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love to know what system Nani would be amazing in, his days are, rightfully, numbered at OT.

Agree0 Disagree0

He didn't contribute to much but his short passing and link up play was decent enough to say he's been injured for a while.

Shinji Kagawa: The real deal or not?

He divides opinion more than any other player! So is he world class as some say or maybe just a player who had 2 great seasons in Germany and not really hit those heights again in the premier league? Now I personally was delighted when we signed him and thought he had a wonderful pre-season in his 1st year. However since then I must admit i've been disappointed in him and feel he has simply not done enough to justify the hype.
Many people on this forum seen to be in love with him and tell us how wonderful he has played when we walk over piss poor teams like West Ham and Newcastle but the stats don't lie and no goals and 2 assists this season is not great. Last season's stats were better be again not exactly what I would call world class. I feel he does flatter to deceive slightly in that a few clever balls or a wonderful back heel gets people excited but in modern football you need to bring more to the party than that! People then come out with the same old arguments like he's played out of position and the best one is that it's the other players fault for not being on his wave length!
I'm just trying to be objective here and get people thoughts on his performances for us so far? There's no doubt he is afforded an affection from many fans that the likes of Cleverley and Fellani certainly do not get!
Whether or not they deserve that is another question but at times when either of those players have a good game not many are quick to say it! For the record I dislike Cleverley and feel he is not good enough for Manchester United and as for Fellani I feel we paid way too much for him but since his return from injury his performances have improved. He's not set the world alight but we all knew he would never really be the answer alone to our midfield problems.
So back to Shinji Kagawa. I think myself the words world class are used far too often and to get that tag you need to perform consistently to a very high standard, something as yet he has not done.
Can he improve with a decent run in the team? Maybe or maybe not. He has been here 2 years now so can say he's still adjusting to life in the prem. He will now get in our team behind the front man as the role is and should be for Mata. So that leaves him starting from the left or interchanging in a 3 behind the front man. In my opinion that would leave us slightly weak defensively playing both him and Mata in the same team. Yes it looked good yesterday when we played Newcastle and had all the ball but it would not look as good against say Bayern on Wed with 26% possession!
Just some thoughts to get us going on a Sunday and love to hear what you guys think?
Just to throw another argument in before I go I personally would have found a place for him in a midfield 2 with either Carrick or Fellani because despite me feeling he doesn't warrant the hype I also know he is blessed with a very good 1st touch and is a quality passer and move player. that's something we have missed in the middle since scholes went. He's not great defensively but not many of our midfielders are!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chorlton,

"People then come out with the same old arguments like he's played out of position and the best one is that it's the other players fault for not being on his wave length!"

That comment is not just some throw-away excuse. It is a fact that I think most people would agree with. Whatever your views on Kagawa, he is not an out and out winger. Playing him there is never going to work. Nor is he a central midfielder in a 442.
Kagawa is an attacking, creative player. End of. If Moyes can't find a regular place for him in that position, he should just sell him, though I think that would be a big mistake. Like you said, he has been here for nearly 2 years. He has hardly played in his best position in that time.
Kagawa and Mata have played very little together, but they already look like they enjoy playing together (Mata actually said so himself yesterday).
All I am trying to say is that players like Mata and Kagawa need tp be played in their best positions. They are not utility players, and they are not bought, or played for their defensive qualities. It seems like Moyes is looking to play 4231 going forwards which I think is a very positive move. Kagawa and Mata fit into that formation very well. I do not see the need more defensive players in that formation. With that formation we will have a back four with two defensive (perhaps one box to box) midfielders in front of them. That is in effect 6 defensive players on the pitch, will the 4 attacking players pressing higher up the pitch. Several top teams already play this way and are very effective in doing so. I think like many others have already said on here, we need to move away from 442 if we want to evolve as a team and get back to winning trophies.
In my opinion, players like Mata and Kagawa are an essentail part of that evolution. Just like players such as Ozil, David Silva, Oscar, Hazard etc etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Betty swollocks

I take you point about formations and playing him as winger, which he most definatley is not!
However that's only half the story really as there have been times when he's played on the left but not as a winger and also more central but still not really produced. I think only time will tell with him but it seems clear Moyes is not really that taken by him so maybe he should sell him and replace him with someone who he is happy with. Not saying I would sell him I would continue to the end of the season to play him in a 3 behind the main striker and see how he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is world class he has struggled because I don't think anyone understood how he likes to play at united until mata came. If you want to make a decision on him I would watch him at the world cup for japan I think he will prove the doubters wrong imo

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2014 09:38:51
Its great to see Kagawa in the team and playing well.I made no secret of the fact I'm a big fan earlier in the season. Many people justifiably said he hadn't deserved a place in the team, but he was played out of position and with players who were just not on the same wavelength. Basically he suffered because he was playing with technically inferior players.
The addition of Mata has in my opinion benefited Kagawa more than anyone. I just hope Moyes can see the benefits of playing those two together because they compliment each other perfectly. There are a few players that need shipping out, but there is still plenty of quality in this squad. And in Mata and Kagawa, we have two absolute gems who could be the future of our team for many years. I just hope that the management can see this and Kagawa is still here next season.
Quite simply, the guy is a class act. Like many have said on here, you don't sell your best players. In my opinion at least, Kagawa falls into that category. What a difference it makes to use players in their best positions.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree 100 per cent. I also think we can't play Rooney and van Persie together with mata and kagawa. I can't think of a system where they all fit together. Kagawa and mata are much better number 10s than Rooney they make space with their clever off the ball runs and they find passes. Van Persie is a better striker than Rooney. So where does he fit in. Don't get me wrong he's been probably our best player this season. So what do you see us going forward with?

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post. I completely agree. It's easy to be to quick to judge players especially when they haven't had enough game time and been given a good run in the team. Both Mata and Kagawa have benefited from playing with each other.

Will Moyes sacrifice Rooney or RVP?

Will Moyes try and play all 4 together?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the only way to accommodate them is if we switch to a 433: Mata and Kags in the CM with a holding CM. RVP and Rooney up front with a flexible winger - who has licence to operate both wings - alongside them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on Betty!

I've always been a huge fan of Shinji, even during his days at Dortmund then when we signed him I was over the moon, been horrible seeing him struggling to adapt but I have no doubt with better technical players around him he'll do well, like you said Mata is already showing that.

He's equally as good as Mata with his vision and passing, just lacks a bit of strength and grit. I pray we don't sell him.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2014 00:38:48
Today we seen a glimpse of the future we could have, if moyes is brave that is. Playing a 3 of Mata, Kagawa and Januzaj behind the striker. Most United fans want to see it on a permanent basis, but I've a feeling Moyes will always want to include a young/valencia/welbeck in that 3. I wouldn't have them is a set position but drifting around each other like Dortmund and Bayern always do.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would you honestly play them with the back 4 and 2 holding midfielders we have? they aren't exactly defensively minded? I have a feeling that's the way moyes wants to go but he needs to bring in a few more players to compliment the attacking players we have

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Apr 2014 00:38:34
I'm becoming increasingly convinced that we will do no work on our forwards this summer, just Nani and Zaha go with possibly Chicharito. Mata and Kagawa are starting to gel, Januzaj is still developing, Young and Valencia are effective in the right games and we have Wilson coming on. That's without including Welbeck, Rooney and RVP. If we can get a more solid midfielder with a passer followed by a faster defender and a new left back I think we will be back challenging for the title. Credit to Moyes, he seems to finally be getting the tactics right at the moment.

Note to Ed: (Celtic fan in Peace). I put this to our Ed. I asked if you could sign any Man utf player now from any era, who would it be. you can only choose 1 player, and give a reason why.

Hope the Man Utd fans take this on.
Just for fun.

Thx

{Ed007's Note - Roy Keane just edges it from Cantona for me, I don't think either need any explanation.}

Ronaldo or Best for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scholes or Ronaldo. Maybe Cantona. Can't rule out Robson, Best and Charlton. Or maybe Van Nistelrooy. I think Edwards is right up there too. And of course there's John O'Shea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gotta be Scholes with the United squad right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keane or Robbo maybe Ronaldo god there's so many to choose from our team atm needs Keane or Robbo

People forget the meaning of 1 when it comes to choosing players. Greedy buggers!

Probably Ronaldo or Keane for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Scholes, Keane or Terry Gibson for me with the current squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed 007 - Good choices. We need a leader, an inspirational one at that more than anything else. Tough on, but I would drift towards Cantona. Mind you, Keano would have been tremendous.
