i personally cant see any value in the transfer market and therefore i believe we should let our rivals both home and abroad go ahead and buy them and when they win trophy after trophy we can take the moral high ground !

Here's an interesting perspective to look at the state of our squad. City have had a hell of a season and we've had a awful one by our high standards. But we are equal on points with City and how many points do people feel we'ed have if we had an injury list similar to that of City's? I mean City have had 50-60 injuries to our 280+, so if we had 200 less injuries this season don't you think we'd have a few more points? So in fairness our squad have done very well. Arsenal are the closest team in terms of numbers of injuries and they're well over 10 points behind us and struggling to make champions league. If we strengthen our obvious weaknesses and improvr tactically then there is no reason we can't challenge and win major honours next season, surely we can't have two seasons of injuries like this one. So lets stop with the doom and gloom, lets ignore the silly scousers that are infact a midtable team. They only come on here to feel as if they are still competing with us in some way because out on the pitch they haven't been competing with us for more than a few seasons now, and are unlikely to do so again for another few seasons. Let them celebrate anyone but us winning a trophy if thats wat makes them happy. We can see them for the sad bitter fools they are. We will make signings in the summer, Sir Alex has never let the team stand still, he always looks to improve and if it wasn't for injuries then we'd probably be celebrating a title this year inspite of City's spending. We have some fantastic young players with more waiting in the academy and we will make a few signings and most importantly we will be a force next year. We are United and we always will be.

I will mention this again,I still think wwe are more at risk of losing Rooney than Arsenal losing Van Persie,,We seem to have lost the sweet touch of attracting good top players and keeping even keeping them since we have virtually turned ourselves to a small club like Tottenham,As Man Utd we arent supposed to compete with teams like Spurs,Liverpool and even City (even though they have money for) for top players, our top Name and on field form is supposed to do all the talking and attract players like Barca who despite not being financially strong like City and Madrid still snatch players from the two's palm, but we cant do as wise instead players choose other teams over us whom we arent supposed to compete with.........,So do you think Rooney can stand that and wait for another season with a badly exposed midfield which cant supply him with clean balls watching City strikers getting exceptional service from Yaya and the City mobile midfield ,i dont think so...! Fergie should be a lil serious........ - Mazi2

Blair Mayne

What gives Liverpool fans the right to mock United fans, considering you are in 9th place? ONE good reason please.

Also, isn't it ever so funny that Blair and Jatt etc. say that City are now top dogs in Manchester? We are behind them on goal difference, yet Liverpool are 4 points behind Everton, but they say nothing about that. Sad stuff.

Just how far have they fallen?

Big news coming out of Liverpool today........

Liverpool have agreed a massive sponsorship / stadium naming rights deal with American TV network NBC using one of their top rating shows.

Hanging over the entrance of the new stadium would be ‘Welcome to Liverpool – home of The Biggest Loser’.

Two new songs will replace the YNWA anthem, they will be ‘Tragedy’ by Abba and the classic Status Quo number ‘Down Down’ – deeper on down the football league.

Tom Werner was quoted as saying ‘we’re so proud of the new deal it will give Kevin Dalglish our manager new funds to invest in players’.

Kenny was quoted as saying ‘these yanks no nothing about football, but it will be nice to buy some more white British players’.

Happy days

I always felt City would win today and so it happened. It was surreal stood watching the tv in the ground and no doubt the team were also watching because they came out just after the final whistle at Newcastle.

Credit to the team they must have been gutted yet came out to perform in an atmosphere where everyone knew what it meant so whilst everyone praised citys character our own team deserves a mention for their character in the circumstances. Let us be honest we have taken it to the last day and that day when city won at OT I couldnt see that happening

The match, how long did it take us to have a shot? Scholes legs had gone today, it was embarrassing he couldnt keep up and the game was played around him. Cleverly, well he is not the midfield general we need, I know this will bring plenty of disagrees but for me he can only play in front of two holding players , he will not take games by the scruff and dictate play and has continuing injury concerns. Hernandez had chances but is having a nightmare, Rooney looks like he is off the pace he is not bursting past anyone.

I watched Allen closely, decent player made Scholes look leggy but is not going to bridge the gap between us and City.

We know the problems and the challenges but there is a real issue paying the salaries of the standard of players we need

Overall they won which was difficult in the circumstances

Firstly, let's get real we're not going to get Martinez no matter what. it's just not going to happen so get over it.

Now, I think our first 'signing' of the summer will be getting Pogba signed and tied down to a new deal. that would give us our box2box enforcer type presence we've been missing in the absence of Fletcher.

So, let's assume we sign Kagawa, this would mean we've got our attacking player sorted. Next season I think we'll be going into games with a 4-4-1-1 formation.

So the squad would look like;

--------------DDG
Raf------Smal-----Vidic---Evra
Toni------*------Pogba---Young
-----------Kagawa
-----------Rooney

* Now, I believe the game has moved on from defensive players in a tackling way and we're now looking at deep lying playmakers who can tackle and defend. I personally believe we will stick with Carrick in that role although I wouldn't be surprised if we signed somebody. that player might be Modric?

So, With Modric, the team would be incredibly creative however it may feel a little exposed when taking on big sides such as Chelsea and City. Although Pogba is big enough to deal with the majority of the threats we have to remember it's his first full season so we still will experience being overrun. The same applies to if Carrick was in midfield.

Martinez would, Ideally be perfect as would Strootman but like I said I don't think we'll look at either of them so a serious extent.

If we were to simply get the hard hitting defensive player, lets for instance say Tiote then we'll look a lit stronger defensively and our side would at time shift from a 4-4-1-1 to a 4-2-3-1 with Young and Toni becoming more narrow and Pogba and Tiote dropping deeper. We would still be creative but I don't think we'll be as creative as we would be if we had the passing player. but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be creative.

There is no reason why Tiote (or somebody in that mould) couldn't play the ball short to Pogba and let him work creatively or give the ball to someone like Kagawa to produce the spark. so yes we would lack a little creativity but we would tighten up the midfield and make it harder for teams to go through, which is exactly what we need IMO.

So, this comes down to personal preference, would we rather miss out on some creativity and make our midfield harder to play against or would we rather create more goals while also letting teams walk through us like they do now?

Personally, I would prefer to have a team that looked like;

--------------DDG
Raf------Smal---Vidic---Evra
Toni----Tiote---Pogba--Young
-----------Kagawa
-----------Rooney

Which at times would look like;

--------------DDG
Raf------Smal---Vidic---Evra
---------Tiote---Pogba
--Toni-----Kagawa---young
-----------Rooney

At times it could also push into a defensive 4-3-3.

So the question remains, do you want more creativity or a tighter midfield? because we sure as hell not going to get both.

ED004, I know you're not sure about Pogba playing a starting role next season but if we don't give him constant starting football, well then we're going to have to kiss goodbye to him, and in all honestly I really think we'd regret it.

We will finish the season with 6 maybe 9 extra points over last season. How many extra points will the mighty Liverpool have over last season?

Now which team is in decline!

Do you actually look at the table -you do realise we have the same amount of points as city and considering the injuries we have had this season i think that is a pretty good achievement.

Can I just say that I find it rather embarassing how some of my fellow LFC fans are celebrating what looks like a City title win as though we had won it, especially when we are 8th I could understand if it was us who were top but this is just a joke. If I'm being honest I dislike everything the new City stands for and the new found arrogance their fans have thanks to being rich so it is anything but a success for my team and wish some of my fellow fans would see that. On a different note, how did Valencia not start against City? Terrible decision, he would have torn Clichy apart.

Right I posted earlier about the Kagawa situation and would reply there but I feel it would be lost amoungst most of the pointless Liverpool posters provocative and irritating posts.
Now if we are to sign Kagawa I feel it is a sign that we look to be changing formation. As people have stated below he is a CAM he can not play in a two man midfield. Therefore as a result of this it appears as though we are going back to formation we played a few years back with Rooney as the lone striker.
If that is the case it worries me. I mean it really worries me. We do not have a strong enough midfield if we are deciding to try and dictate games. I would go as far as saying we need a completely new midfield trio.
Now if we assume that Kagawa has signed well then there is one CAM signed. Kagawa is a hard worker so we would need one DM and another hard worker CAM imo.
Now we can all see the effect Yaya Toure has on that City team. He is an unbelievable gifted and strong player. He is a monster to deal with. He tore us apart and he has been doing that to teams all year. He just bullies teams and then he has Silva and Nasri to do the football for him even though he is brilliant at that himself. So I for one feel we need a physical and dominate midfielder. I would go ALL out and just immediately go for Javi Martinez. The guy is unbelievable and I feel he will be better than Alonso. He is twice the defender Alonso is and his passing is equally as good. I would go as far as saying he could probably dictate a game on his own playing in a one man midfield... He is that good.
For the second CAM we need someone creative, we need a hard worker, we need someone consistent. Taking all that in mind two names come up in my head, Christian Eriksen from Ajax and if the rumours of him being unsettled are true, Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid. Either would be brilliant. Personally I would favour Ozil as I think he is an extraordinary player but Eriksen could become something special. Either would be able to dictate a game for us.
Now their are only two other positions I could see us needing to reinforce, that is LB and LM.
LB is easy... Izaguirre from Celtic would be my choice all day long. Hard working, reasonable price, excellent defensively and offers a threat going forward. He is also welcome to the idea of coming here and would like to come here. His purchase could easily be funded by selling Evra off to PSG or Anzi or somewhere like that.
Secondly LM. I would love to see Bale here because I think he could excel here but he would be way too expensive so I would opt for James Rodriguez from Porto. He is an excellent player and a hard working player. I say if we sold Berbatov and Anderson along with some money left over from the Evra sale we would break even after buying Rodriguez as we could also lengthen the payment over a few years.
Now can anyone argue against a team like this next year.
....................De Gea
Rafael.....Smalling....Vidic.....Izaguirre
....................Martinez
Valencia...Kagawa....Eriksen/Ozil....Rodriguez
....................Rooney
Subs: Lindengaard, Clyne, Jones, Rio, Evans, Fryers, Carrick, Cleverley, Scholes, Pogba, Young, Nani, Welbeck and Hernandez
Now defensively we are brilliant with no more Evra to worry about and a solid, brilliant CDM in Martinez. Rafael is only getting better and when Smalling and Vidic have played together they have been immense.
Now in attack we set for years. A midfield trio of Martinez, Kagawa and Eriksen/Ozil would dominate against any midfield in the world other than Barcelona's but it is an ageing midfield. All the players are brilliant passers of the ball and can spot a throughball a mile off. We would have an unreal sub bench with brilliant attacking options with Nani, Young, Welbeck and Hernandez and very good defensive options in Rio, Jones and Evans who has had a good year. The midfield would also have brilliant cover as Cleverley is a very good young player with huge talent and Pogba and Carrick are both good defensively and offensively along with the pass master Scholes.
Now obviously finance would play a huge part in the creation of that team. Sales of players like Anderson, Berbatov and Evra along with fringe players could cover the cost to buy Rodriguez and Izaguirre. Kagawa wont cost much, hopefully under 10 million (7 million according to some reports) and I would only sign Ozil if it was for 25 million or below and Eriksen for around 20 million. So say 7 million + 20 million + 30 million it would take to sign martinez that is 57 million well spent imo. And it was only a few seasons back we spent that amount. I cant see any of this happening other than Kagawa though. I am too optimistic and I am hoping Fergie realises we need strengthening and I am not sure if I am the only one who feels we need a new midfield...
The Red Manc
p.s Sorry for the long post.... Any comments Ed? {Ed004's Note - You can't argue that the team wouldn't be brilliant and the supply to Rooney would be amazing but in all likeness the funds will not be there to make such a dramatic change to the team.}

with City's squad and no doubt further strengthening this (and probably every succeeding) window you must surely see the writing on the wall...your time has now gone. Finishing 2nd this time will be your highest
position for the next ten years. Why? Well apart from other teams strengthening and improving generally your squad is far too thin on quality. Add to this that Choker Ferguson will carry on dancing to the Glazer's tune and see 'no value in the market'

Now, start planning the next season, find the POSSIBLE targets and select the necessary, the ones we really need!

Gaitan(for me)- he's just a fancy signing, we don't need him(we his target price). He's maybe a good player but not convinced enough to risk more than 15mil for him.

Martinez- as mentioned buy almost everyone seems to me a little bit impossible.

Kagawa- if is already done deal would be amazing.

Hazard- he will be world class player.

LB- no preferences, just one who can compete or is better than Evra.

Maybe a CD- Ferdi is old and Vida, nobody knows how he's going to be when back.

Striker- needed too.

Maybe I'm wrong, anyway, who am I to think about the signings, I just hope SAF buys the right ones.

Why do people keep saying that we are great at bringing through young players? HONESTLY when was the last time that we brought someone through the ranks for them to make such an impact at United?
The last few that we had we sold onwards, due to home reasons and not making it into the starting eleven, such as Rossi and Pique.
The young players that we have in the starting eleven have come from other teams.

Why was Berbatov brought on today, was it to keep him happy so he isn't disruptive for next season, or to put him in the shop window, or so he could say good bye to the place? I'm not too sure, if we don't get an £8 million bid i think he will stay as SAF said he won't leave on the cheap. I'm unsure with the way this summer will go, but i do think players like Kagawa, Gaitan, Clyne etc will come in and perform well.

A number of websites believe that Kagawa is a done deal whilst other say that Gaitan is. My question is who would you prefer, and also do you think both could be on the cards? If both did come in SAF would try to convert one to play alongside say Carrick in a 4-4-2. Not sure thats a wise idea, but its something that he would do. There certainly seems to be interest there for both.

Also im delighted to be linked to Luuk De Jong who is a classy palyer and would be a good addition.

Thoughts on the topic?

"We'll try to look at young players with the potential to develop in the club," a lot of people think we need a more finished article type after all there is more players out there than hazard , you said yourself modric higuain.
city cant buy every player so why are we just looking at young players is it because of price?
jred"

I would class Hazard, Martinez, Rodriguez, Neymar all in the "young players with the potential to develop in the club" bracket. I would also class a center back Jones at 16.5 mil and a keeper De Gea at 18.5mil in the same bracket.

Not exactly buying cheap is it?

The reason SAF wants young players with the potential to develop is simple, longevity at the club, and a better return on the investment (by that i do not mean selling the player on, but getting more years out of him at the club). And its not as if its what we haven't done in the past. Rooney and Ronaldo were in the same bracket in the past, that is what we have always done.

And what have we done to our player who is touted to be the 'Next Yaya Toure' ?

We still havent sorted out his contract and thats causing unnecessary distraction to the fans and everybody involved with the team.

If we cant offer huge contracts to World Class player we can at least shell out a few more bucks to keep our best youngster who could eventually save is 30 million if not more.

Now i've seen the comment by Sir Alex this morning and i think he is spot on, when it comes to money we just can't compete with the unlimited funds that City have. But i don't get all this despair about it, it's hardly new news or a shocking revelation. And imo i feel the best players we've signed or at least the ones who've had the biggest impact haven't been the big name players but the cheaper ones with potential. Would you rather have Veron, Berbatov, Ferdinand, and Rooney or Vidic, Ronaldo, Evra and VDS? the first group have some important players but i feel the second group which didn't cost as much as Berbatov did alone have been more influential. If you really wanna throw the cat amoung the pidgeons what about this group Giggs, Scholes, Neville and Beckham. So it looks like the best playes we've had since Sir Alex took over have been either homegrown or cheaper lesser known talents not the big marquee type signings.

So we sit here and bemoan us not signing players such as Martinez Hazard and Gotze but they came from somewhere so how did there current clubs get them? in most cases players sold for big fees tend to have either been bought for small fees by their current club or they came through the youth ranks or spotted by scouts and gambled on before anyone else noticed them. So thats where we should be focusing not on trying to out spend a team with a bottomless pit.

Now i see there has been talk about the Glaziers and that they are the reason we can't compete with City, this is stupid and false, although the Glaziers will be restricting the amount of money we could spend City have a bottomless pit so even if we offered money equal to what city are then they would just offer more, then were will we end up? paying players a million a week? probably because city could afford to do it.

Now i hate the Glaziers with a passion for what they are doing to the club i love but i am a realist not a dreamer. The Glaziers have had most of their business's fail or at least take a huge hit, they are relying on making money out of our club to save them from bankruptcy basically so they will only sell the club at a huge profit and the only people who will spend that kind of money on the club will also want to make money out of it. The moment we first became a plc we went from a sporting club to a business and business's exsit soley to make money for their owners. So there are only two ways to rid ourselves of the Glaziers, one is to destroy the club making it worth less to them but would you burn down your own house just to stop a thief stealing your possessions? The other would be to simply kill the Glaziers but thats not an option and who would the club then belong to is anyones guess so it's abit like russian roulette. Either way it would appear the only way this will end well for our club is to wait until the Glaziers are ready to sell then hope a group like the red knights or a group of wealthy fans can come together and buy the club fom the Glaziers. Unfortunately this day is a long way off so it looks like we are in for a bumpy ride for the next decade or so, this doesn't mean we can't compete just that we need to box clever from here on in.

Football like life is not about reaching a destination, it's about the journey you take getting there. If City win today and go on and win the league then they will deserve it because they have been the best team. But they will still be City, they will not seen what we have seen or been where we have been. They weren't at Old Trafford when Barcelona were 2-0 up from a home win to see us put three past them. They weren't in Rotterdam or Turin or Barcelona or Moscow. Lets face it their best memory before this year was beating us 5-1 in 89 and they are still going on about it. We have been the luckiest set of supporters ever to live we have seen some of the best football played and certainly some of the best players ever to play the game. Our manager came and knocked Liverpool right off their perch and placed us at the very top of English football. Sometimes he put us at the top of European and World football. So if City win the league show some dignity and show some class for we are Manchester United and lets face it we've had it all. I AM KLOOT

Currently there is a lot of talk that we are in negotiations for Kagawa. My query regarding this is where will he play. His best position seems to be where Rooney is playing and if the City game is anything to go by then Rooney shouldnt be playing as the lone striker. He is scoring 25+ goals a season in the hole whats the point putting that under risk? Surely it would be smarter to buy a 20 + a season striker. Anyways if Kagawa is to be bought I can't see him playing there or more importantly dont want him playing there. So that leaves me as to where he will play. He is a very skillful player and there is no doubt about it. His creativity is phenomenal and he has youth on his side.
Maybe he is being considered to play CM beside someone like Martinez (pipe dream and unrealistic tbh) or someone like M'Villa. A true DM. However, I am not sure he would cope in cm. I am not sure whether he will have the physical presence to dominate midfields.
So where will Kagawa be played. I for one just can't see where he will start, that is if he isnt being bought to be a squad player like Park

I really hope that we do sign Kagawa, he is a very classy player with bags of talent. Too many people are concentrating on his low fee and assuming he isn't class due to his low fee. You really couldn't be more wrong. I think Kagawa will score 15 or more goals a season with 15 or more assists. A truly exceptional player who wants to join us, I hope we want to sign him.-MB-

Between 1992 and 2010, United spent £409,090,000.

Since 08 to present, City have spent £483,450,000!

And people are questioning why we can't compete with City?!

No Value in the market - City Signed Jo, Lescott, Dzeko, Barry, Kolorov, Milner, Balotelli for all over £20 Million each.

Liverpool signed Carroll, Downing,Henderson for all over £15 Million each.

Chelsea signed Lukaku, Obi Mikel, Bosingwa for all over £15 Million each.

The fact is teams will milk clubs for as much as they can which makes prices become unrealistic and players will move to these clubs for ridiculous wages.

People come on here and are saying City have bought the title and in the next breath saying we need to go out and splash loads of money?!

We need to strengthen obviously, but we need to do it wisely!

SAF is right, we cannot compete with city and there is no value in the market!

In Spain, Barcelona cannot compete with Real when it comes to transfers so what have they done, develop the youngsters and make wise purchases, and this is what SAF is trying to do.

Yes he will make mistakes but there is always that chance but is he laying foundations for long term success not like city, short term success.

I wish some fans didn't act like spoilt brats and when we don't get things are way, throw their toys out the pram, in 10 years time, we will still be challenging for all major trophies, and as for city, maybe they will, maybe it will end in tears!

It's seems Fergie has made a "u" turn with Berbatov.
Maybe someone they had in mind to take his place is moving somewhere else...Hazard to City maybe?

These are the players that may leave this window or next summer. Do they need replacing or have we got talent in the youth team?

Evra - replace with either Fabio/Fryers or buy
Owen - W.Keane
Anderson - Petrucci
Berbatov - Kagawa 7m
Giggs - Brady
Park - Cole/Lingard
Scholes -
Fletcher - Tunnicliffe/James
Macheda - King
Kuszczak - Amos/Johnstone
DeLaet - M.Keane or Clyne 2m
Bebe - Januzaj/ Barmby/ vanVelzen
Pogba - Dćhli/Peirera

Scholes will defenatly be replaced. Do you think any of the replacement youth options could step up in 2 seasons if they have a progressive loan spell.

whatever happens we can't win. IF we go on to win the league we'll have all the scousers and bitters saying o you only won because you own all the refs. IF we don't win they'll be trotting out the your in decline rubbish.

I don't believe we are in decline. Yes we need some serious investment. Yes at times we have played very poor. But we've also had the worse run of injuries i've ever seen at this club. Every single player in the first time squad has had some sort of injury at some point apart from evra and scholes. We even lost two of our most important players in vidic and fletcher to long term injury. And despite this we are still level with a club thats spent half a trillion in the transfer market. That said we need just three good signings and tie tie youth down and better luck with injuries. If we win then great. If we don't then we'll be back. Because we are manchester united and we'll never die.

Hello loyal followers!

Just passing by to give my humble opinion, on yesterdays game. We were terrible 1st half and better in the 2nd. But in my opinion we started with the wrong formation. After losing this final are season has not been good enough. I know some of you want King Kenny to stay on for another couple of years. But I think his fate could be decided and probably was 2-3 months ago.

But think about like I do. If Barca couldn't beat Chelsea. It shouldn't surprise you if Barca beat us.

In total, United's net spend over the past five years amounts to £51.6m. Which is considerably below the £25m per season the Glazers once promised. City's total is £418.9m, Chelsea £155.9m, Liverpool's £83.3m and Tottenham's £66.7m. Perhaps most surprisingly, Sunderland have also spent more than United, with £69.2m, as have Aston Villa on £68.4m. And who would have thought that Stoke, on £59.7m, would be more prolific spenders than England's best-supported club?

From an article in yesterday's Guardian.

Value for money indeed:
It looks like some shrewd investments are on the way.

Clyne - 20yr old RB who can also do a job at LB if needed.
At a possible 2m will surely be a bargain for a future England full back. Hopefully he can follow suit of the likes of Kyle Walker who won young Premiership player.e

Kagawa - if the talk/gossip/papers are correct I think 7m is a steal, proper value for money. The Bunders is not so different to the EPL. If he has a high assists & goals ratio to games from midfield I hope he can carry that on for United.

Only 9m spent. We missed out on our marquee signing last season. Nasri 22m, Sanchez 24m or Sneijder 30m were all possible, but for some reason slipped the net.

This seasons candidates are........
Hazard 32m, Modric 35m, Javi Martinez 30m, James Rodriguez 22m, Erikssen 20m one of which I think we'll get. If not one of these. I don't think we'll bother.

Plus each and every season seems to bring a surprise or two. We've brought in a couple of Brazilians from Club Deportivo and that quality 16yr old Belgian from PSV.
A young Scottish striker passed his trial last week and has also been signed Noa something I think.

1st or 2nd in a season of transition is really promising.
With these new signings plus players returning from injuries Vidic, Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher maybe Owen.
Plus we need an improved season off Evra & Park.
DeGea, Jones, Smalling, Chicharito & Welbeck with another seasons experience under their belts.

Even if Pogba & Fryers stay they might break into the team & be dynamic for us this season. Who's to know?

M.Keane, W.Keane, Wootton, James, Norwood, Petrucci, Lingard, Cole, Brady, King, Vermijl all mentioned by the Boss as exciting propects. How will they develop on loan?

We may not be able to compete with City & there kamikaze buying. Along as we buy who & what we need & keep bringing through quality in our Acadamy. We can always compete on the pitch.

Bring on August. Let's go all guns blazing & get that 20th or hopefully 21st Title in the bag.

Ferguson, virtually resigned to losing his Premier League crown to Roberto Mancini’s side, said: It’s been an insane transfer market for a long time and I think clubs like City create that.

They can buy all the players and put a marker on all the players and that makes it difficult for clubs then to be reasonable. There’s no chance of that calming down and I don’t see how the financial fair play can work. No-one can match City’s financial power – no-one. We have to accept that, so we do it a different way. We’ll try to look at young players with the potential to develop in the club, which we’re good at, so we’ll stay with that.

So the excuse for not spending big is out already. We are only looking at young players who might develop for that clearly read the Glazers will not pay the money particularly on salaries. Can everybody but Sydney now see the problem?

Next season is going to hurt if we are falling well behind City and possibly Chelsea who also have an owner who will spend.

I note SAF does not think the financial fair play will work which means we will be unable to compete going forward either. Even if we get a top player when it comes to paying him the Glazers will short change us and there is the danger of them being taken by City. See the words from SAF be reasonable, by that read we will not pay the going rate.

Unless SAF pulls a rabbit out of a hat a few times we are at Liverpool 1990 stage, potential decline.

SAFs comments above are something that I am very concerned about and this is unlikely to change until we get rid of our owners and get someone committed to making our club the biggest and best rather than trying to do it on the cheap

As I have read the numerous posts of how crap our midfield is there is one youmg player who few, if any people have mentioned. A player who looks like he will be in a team to be relegated, a player who was outstanding at OT and when I have seen him on tv he gives a very good account of himself.
On here he certainly won't be deemed good enough for Utd, strange really when we currently have the worst midfield players in the world according to some, yet they then say don't sign so and so he isn't any better than we already have !!
I think a player to watch for the future is Mark Davies at Bolton, if he continues to develop as he has this season he will become a talent.
Now I am not advocating signing him now, just pointing out that this lad is a half decent young player who looks to have a bright future and who knows what the future holds.

You'd have build for a few hours on both an I'd record one on the VHS and watch the other after the match. You'd have Saint & Greavsie on one and Des Lynam/steve rider and co on the other. It would almost be like "royal occasion" day. This is just an example where that great competition has lost its sparkle. I would know all the goals/incidents from the different finals back then.
