Can anyone tell me why we are being strongly linked with Phil Jones? Do we need yet another defender, with Rio, Vidic, Smalling, Evans, Rafael, Fabio, Evra, Brown and O'Shea. And at the £16m being quoted????? {Ed007's Note - I heard a murmur about Jones the other week and dismissed it, now it has came back up}

Good evening loyal followers

Just a quick post to all those who said that we couldn't attract players. Jordan Henderson has agreed to join Liverpool fc INSTEAD of Manchester United. Weither me, you or anyone think he's a good player my point is, he chose us INSTEAD of you. Don't say you wern't interested please, we all know you were very interested in him.

So can we please stop all this silliness about us not signing players. Not only are we signing our targets but we are signing YOUR targets aswell.

"jeffren and Henderson to Liverpool. They're active. If they get Mata and Jones they be a force next season"

@Jeffren vastly overrated, Henderson no better than Gibson, Mata is a decent player although awful against us in the CL last season. Phil Jones is too short, 5ft11" bit short to be a CB IMO.

lets face it you can dream till the cows come home, but saf never fights for his targets, it'll just be another average season with one or two average players ( young, rodwell) an a load of youngsters as usual. there midfield has been s**te except for giggs n scholes since ronaldo an even he was expended as a striker. lets forget about toppeling barca cus it aint happening there light years ahead an that's final. pissed off manu fan !

Please don't tell me we are signing Daniele De Rossi, an expensive mistake, trust me. Sanchez looks like he's going to Barca, GUTTED!. My predictions are:-

Ins
De Gea
Young
Valerene (think these 3 are done deals)
+ 1 Major Surprise (Dunno Who)
I doubt Modric, Nasri or Schneider tbh.

Outs
Nani
Berbatov
Gibson
Brown

Your thoughts plz Ed.

looks like united's targets are slipping through their grasp.

sanchez off to barcelona
modric not for sale
snejider wages a no go
even de gea having second thoughts. .

therefore we can expect signings in the calibre of:

Ashley Young
Jack Rodwell
Martin Steklenburg

Young is a useless signing, why can't we go for a natural left footed winger like robben, douglas costa,

Filling scholes' boots is going to be a massive task everyone knows this but out of the 3 players being talked about (modric, snijder and nasri) I'd go for nasri every time.

Snijder is 27 this week and the money being talked about plus the wage demands is to much of a gamble IMO for a player who is undoubtalby class but has never played in the EPL.
Modric is class and a proven prem player but doesn't score enough for me and would still demand a massive fee but wages would be to much of a sting.
Nasri on the other hand is the full package IMO, youngest out of the 3, scores goals, used to our game, 1 year left on contract but still can't see arsenal letting him leave without a fight, one thing that could swing it for us though is that we could promise him the CMF role he want as arsenal keep sticking him on the wing.
SIGN NASRI PLEASE FERGIE! !

i would just like to express my disappointment about the supposed signing of a.young, he is not and never will be a world class player.he is not good enough to lace giggs or nani's boots.i feel we are being sold short again.Where are the world class signings we need to dominate europe.we have 4 world class players in our team, ferdinand, vidic, hernadez and rooney, our midfield is pants and has been since the decline of scholes and hargreaves.i would not say valencia and nani are world class, great players but better than a.young.he will not take us to another level and make rival teams fear us.i fear we will see the same workman like performances of the last 2 years, this was never the united way. joeyored

Sorry to disappoint most utd fans but there will be no modric, no sneijder, no aguero, no bale, certainly no ronaldo return. . Dont believe the tabloids-De gea is still not definite! ! (though looking good), In short no big superstar signings.

2 da silva twins will be become regulars
Fergies plan is that Cleverly, welbeck, pogba, Morrison, tunnicliffe will become household names :)

He will however buy Erick Torres(chivas) and will sign 2 more young brazilians who have recently had trials.
Trying no negotiate for Douglas costa and Defour(though his injuries are deterring bid)
Unfortunately young is a strong possibility if costa doesn't happen

Just out of interest: Alexis Sanchez updated his twitter description yesterday. Previously it said there was interest by Zenit, Inter and Manchester and after May, 'we will see what happens'.

Now it has changed to just saying he is a Chilean footballer and good luck to Chile in the Copa America.

Probably means nothing, but thought it may be slightly of interest.

In the middle of all the transfer rumours it may have been missed but Ancelotti has taken a year out. Very unusual for a successful manager like him to take such a break when he could get another position relatively easily. Sacked ridiculously early by Chelsea, he is a double winning, Champions League winner twice over, a very plausible well spoken thoughtful man. A very good high profile manager one of the very top ones.

Now has anyone linked Ancelotti with being SAF's replacement? Ancelotti, When everyone is looking at Pep and Jose could Carlo slip in almost un-noticed and become our next manager?

Everyone calm down! If there is no current bid for their players, agents won't risk the wrath of the club by saying their player wants to leave! It's like if you're in a sh*te job hoping for a better job to come up across the road, but until that job becomes available you just have to wait. You can't tell your boss you want to leave because you think there might be a better job! Have patience, and you'll see that when we a concrete bid is made for these players who are 'definitely staying', all of a sudden, they are 'open to a move'.

one thing we don't want are mercenaries! not sure that Sneijder, Nasri, and Sanchez, come into that category, and I know that agents are at the forefront with these deals but the criterion should be do they want to play for Manchester United? if the answer is yes then we do whatever it takes to get them! if their ambition is money driven then they are coming to the wrong club, I think that SAF knows who he wants the question is do they want the same thing?

Could we be left with room for manoeuvre on the wages front. Purely speculative, but we seem to have recognised salary bands at OT.

VDS retired £70k per week
Neville. £70k
Hargreaves.£70k
Scholes. £70k
Brown. £50k possible sale
Berbatov £90k possible sale

This is a massive reduction of the monthly wage bill. Obviously we will have several arrivals to factor into this, so would Schneijder's wage demands be excessive? Maybe the Glazers had some of these departures in mind when they agreed to Rooney's huge wage hike. What do you think Sydney!?

Read a very interesting article today in Spanish about La Mas a and how the development of the core principles of
- Footballing knowledge
- Academia
- Commitment
- Solidarity
- Team ethics
Have contributed to their success

If you take a look at their current first team, there are only a couple of players who didn't go through that academy, perhaps the fact of our youth team winning the youth FA up as a unit is putting us in the right direction of growing our team around homegrown talent with the added bonus of a couple of players in the transfer market.

SAF has also shed importance on youth, so maybe it is wrong to expect us to be back in the final next season, but certainly in the next few years i think we can push for numbers 4, 5, 6 and 20, 21, 22 etc.

We may need to add some quality in the center of the park with Modric, my, and I'm sure many others preferred choice to sign. But i think its going to be all about improving our links to other countries and naturally in the UK to get the 15/16 year olds (or younger) which could one day be the future. After all, our most successful team under Fergie was based around neville x2, giggsy, ginger prince, butt and becks. all made at home. .

the 5 away wins all year will come into it, not having players who cosy at old trafford where expect to beat teams,
the shock of the gap between utd&barca he won't stand for,
remem becks being left on bench towards end of season before being sold. . . . . nani!
some of the squad players who just havnt progressed or just not doing it will be moved on for other younger players to be brought in,
some of the youth team stars will be pushed forward to be given there chance&be tested maybe some league cup action

Alex Sanchez looks Barcelona bound. We can all forget about him coming to United. I don't think it's that much of a problem. . We still got Giggs/Nani/Park/Valencia that can play on the wings.

What we need is an attacking midfielder, a defensive midfielder and a goal keeper.

I read a rumour on here that the De Gea deal has stalled. Last I seen about this deal was that De Gea was on the verge of changing agents and that's why it's taking a little while to finalize the deal to bring him to United.

Defensive midfielder. . United were linked with both Danielle De Rossi from Roma and Lassana Diarra from Real Madrid. The media claims Diarra does want a move back to the premier league and he would be cheaper than De Rossi.

Attacking midfielder. . Modric/Nasri/Sneijder are all being mentioned. Today, Modrics' agent reckons he'll be staying at White Hart Lane. Nasri hasn't ruled out coming to United as he wants to see if the rumour is concrete or nonsense basically. Sneijder. . As much as I would like to see him at United, I don't think we'll get him. He wants £150,000 a week wages and the fee for him is around £35m. He hasn't been in the Premier League before so £35m for someone who hasn't proven could be a big gamble. Today, Hiddink told Chelsea "Get me Wes" (as in Sneijder). Chelsea could afford it and City could afford it. . United, I don't think can.

From the rumours and everything I've heard or seen I could put together a starting XI for next season already.

GK: De Gea. RB: Rafael. LB: Evra. CB: Vidic. CB: Ferdinand. CDM: Diarra. LM: Nani. RM: Valencia. CAM: Nasri. ST: Rooney. ST: Hernandez

Modric's agent has just guaranteed he's stayin with spurs for another season and if and when he does leave, he will stay in london coz his family are settle, also, chelsea and city have 50m to outbid us 4 snejider and he'd prefer london to manchester, Henderson is in advanced talks with liverpool, not to bothered wer gonna miss out on him, i just prefer him to ashley young, de gea said he won't decide til after the under 21 games, hope we don't wait 4 him too long then he decides to stay, also looks like sanchez prefers spain to england, either way, udinese are always very tricky to deal with, so looks like its only that varane bloke who's defo signing so far, never heard of him b4 tho.

Regarding Sanchez unproven in a competitive league, obviously courting other clubs. Even if we signed him he would look to leave as soon as Madrid or Barca wanted him lets stick for players who dream of playing for us. Alexis Sanchez odds on a summer move from Udinese have now been removed from skybet. Looks like Barcelona have there man. Why are we not snapping up Kagawa of Dortmund the man has skills and work rate he's like a skillful park has said that he wants to join us and could be bought for max £10 million. As a bonus merchandise sales in the far east would sky rocket. I know he plays a differnt position to Rodwell but why are we even considering him. Stats he has started 53 games in the last 3 years as yet to establish himself in a very ordinary Everton team and would cost £25 million with add ons.
Kagawa and Young with Toni £ wingers who can play either side with park when needed allowing us to cash in on Nani (who has failed to realize his potential and is to inconsistent hence why dropped for big games) whilst his value is high.
Forget players who are courting various clubs Sanchez and lets buy players that only want to play for United.
Guaranteed Sanchez would jump ship as soon as Barca or Madrid came sniffing in a few years f*** Him.

For those leaving brown, Gibson, Hargreaves, maybe Evans, macheda, bebe, diouf loaned out!

I think I berbatov goes we may look to get in benzema, only way I see sneijder coming is if nani goes the other way! I'm struggling in terms of a defensive mf possibly rodwell? Do you think de Rossi is a possibility?

RamoN"

@Agreeing personal terms means nothing my friend, United, City, Inter, Real, Juventus, Chelsea would have all had personal terms agreed by Sanchez, it's the fee that is the stumbling block.

LATEST NEWS ON THE SANCHEZ SAGA! !
SOURCE: GOAL.COM
Alexis Sanchez has agreed personal terms with Barcelona, claims Udinese president Franco Soldati, just 24 hours after he said the Catalans were in pole position for the Chilean's signature.

The deal will be based on a 3 million per annum contract, but Soldati insists it does not mean a move is finalised as the two clubs have yet to agree a fee. Nonetheless, Udinese will not stand in Sanchez's way as he seeks a move to the European champions.

"From what we were told by the player's agent Fernando Felicevich, Alexis Sanchez has an agreement with Barcelona for a contract worth 3m a season. This does not necessarily mean he will go, but it is what the player wants, " Soldati said, according to Chilean source La Tercera.

"We hope to fulfil the player's wish, but I don't think negotiations will be finalised until at least the end of June."

Udinese have set their price for Sanchez, in excess of 30m, and the attacker will not move unless Barca match the club's valuation.

"Sanchez's yes [to Barcelona] does not mean a yes from Udinese, " he disclosed.
"These are two different things. We will begin talks with Barcelona and we will not stop them from speaking with the player. But we are just starting with the talks.

"If they pay us what we want then there will be no problems, but we are yet to speak about this. For the moment Barcelona are favourites to land Sanchez ahead of Juventus and Inter. These are the three clubs that are close to him, but nothing has been sealed yet in regards to a move.

"Again, this is just the start of things, but we want to finish negotiations by the end of the month. The player's opinion obviously counts, but there are other things we need to look at.

"In any case we are optimistic all will end well."
I guess that's probably the end on this topic what do u think eds?

Ed, Sydney.
Do any of you think that Nasri and Modric could play as a centre midfield pairing due to their attacking qualities along with their eagerness to track back and defend. Would only cost us £40 m? plus De Gea, Erieck Torres, Varane and Young. An extra £40 m. That's our budget spent as well as players leaving, we'd have developed our squad for the future and be clearing others out to allow Pogba and co. to earn their places?

Ashley Young & Raphael Varane all but complete, due to be finalised & announced in the next 48 hours.

De Gea, is stalling on joining United as he would like to stay in Spain.

Being considered are: Lassana Diarra, Luka Modric, Samir Nasri, Jack Rodwell, Karim Benzema & Wesley Sneijder.

Alexis Sanchez is no longer in the picture due to fee & wage demands.Just a few points on this. Firstly De Gea isn't stalling because he wants to stay in Spain, the deal has been agreed and he is more than happy to come. The only sticking point is his agent as he wants to change it and is involved in a money payment issue with him. It will go through official on July 1st.

Secondly, You say Alexis Sanchez is no longer a target because of his fee and wage demands???
But yet you think Sneijder and Benzema are being considered???

Im pretty sure he would be cheaper than both of them two would be.

any two of them in our squad would be gold
he has the speed and workrate of nasri and the passing ability of goetze or even fabregas
he has proven himself in international games and does not disappear like fabs
he is lightning fast and throws himself about despite his relatively smaller size
and would be much cheaper and. .would earn the club much much more revenue
not far from Honda in popularity in asia

What is this obsession with beating Barcelona? They might not even make the final of the Champions League every year, just like we might not.

They are the best club team in the world at present, but it is going to take more than one summer and 3/4 signings to overtake them in terms of quality.

We're still a few years away yet from being able to realistically become as good as them, in my opinion. Even then, we'll be relying on the decline of Xavi (31) and other players, assuming nobody better comes along. The best option is to bring through the youth players so that when they play in the first team, they'll have been together several years. Stability and class brings success, not just spending lots of money.

Jerv"""
dear mr jerv
ngiak is unsure on a few counts
first which team you support
and more importantly what your point is
we are manchester united, the best team in england for the good part of 15 years
we have reached the quarter finals of the champions league every year
and 2 finals in 3 years
there is only one team that is above us according to these statistics
we ONLY benchmark ourselves to the VERY BEST
and there is only one other team that is better, BARCELONA
and why would that be an obsession?
or you rather keep harping on a long fallen giant called liverpool?

Ed, whats the latest on Sneijder? Apparently Chelsea will go for him if Hiddink is made manager. If United want him could we expect any more movement in the next 48 hours or so? {Ed004's Note - I am not sure what is going to happen, I think Modric would be a better option but it is speculated that Sneijder is in the process of deciding who to sign for}

is there any chance of Nasri coming here? And can he play in 2-man midfield? With Ashley young coming, is there a chance? Ferdinand said he's one of the best today. . {Ed004's Note - Yes Nasri is brilliant in a central position and I think he could work in a 2 man midfield because he has a brilliant work rate}

ed have you heard anything about neymar to utd? and roughly how much money would u say we have to spend? {Ed004's Note - It looks like he will be going to Chelsea, I would say around 30 million}

30m is no good and would show glazers for what they are

I reckon united will spend 80 mil this season on either sneijder, modric or nasri. we will also sign a winger either young, snachez or hazard . i think they may also sign a defender and definately signing de gea also rodwell my come too

Where are we getting the money for these players, do you think we would of offered Owen an extension if we had money, we have to sell to buy, we are to much in debt and we don't have money left aside because we have no money to put aside

Ashley young for 15 to 20 million pounds just to use him as a backup winger?

there are cheaper backup wingers available in my opinion

Either SAF regards him highly or he is a poor man's sanchez

ON JAVIER HERNANDEZ

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez says manager Sir Alex Ferguson can count on his loyalty.

The £6m Mexican scored 20 goals in 45 appearances last season.

Little Pea, as his nickname translates, modestly said: "I'm not a symbol or an idol, or anything like that. Football is not a sport like golf but a team game. I am very motivated after a great season with Manchester United.

"From now on I'll owe a great debt to Sir Alex Ferguson for bringing me to Europe. My dream continues and has not changed. I want to win many titles to give back to the team that opened the doors for me."

""The current stories coming from Italy are that Barcelona have offered 30 million Euro plus Bojan for Sanchez, but that a) Bojan probably doesn't want to move to Udine and b) that Udinese wouldn't want him because of his high wages (around £55k per week currently).

DarkLard08""

@There is no chance on this earth that Barcelona would offer 30m euros plus Bojan. Barcelona are skint, they are only going to offer Arsenal £28m plus Thiago for Cesc. There is more chance of Bojan ending up at Arsenal.

Barcelona will be offering Udinese around 15m euros plus Bojan. Barcelona value Bojan at around 20m euros. Barcelona do not like parting with money, £2m for Afellay, £16m for Mashcerano. Offering Arsenal just £28m for Cesc last season. They really are hard bargainers.

Why is it that man united would struggle to pay sniejders wages, and we have no money, yet every year or every other year we win the league and are always challenging.
This year we got to the champions league final and won the league yet everyone still says we have no money.

Why can we not compete financially with the other big world clubs because everytime were linked with a player it mostly says, although united may struggle to pay the fee or wages, WHY??

Is this purely down to the glazers loans etc, because we always near the top of the richest clubs lists every year, if we are supposedly broke why does everyone think we will be buying the big name players sanchez, ageuro etc.

GLAD I GOT THAT OFF MY CHEST, PHEW!

According to the Daily Mail, we are set to unveil Ashley Young in the next 48 hours. If this is the case, then do we have room for Alexis Sanchez too? Even if Nani leaves (as rumours are saying). I believe Sanchez to play as a winger/striker. Cant see this happening now!

i don't understand SAF way of thinking, we got slaughtered by Barcelona and yet we are probably going to sign young, de gea and varane, which won't make us any better really. . where as Barcelona who are head and shoulders above the rest of the other teams are still looking to strengthen there almighty squad by bringing in (possibly) sanchez and fabregas.

SAF has again came out and said he wants three signings to boost the overall quality of the squad.

'I'm looking at possibly a couple, maybe three signings, which would boost our overall quality in the team.
'Of course, the way we're looking at it is we have Ryan Giggs coming towards the end of his career and Gary Neville's already retired.
'Edwin van der Sar announced his retirement and there are holes we want to plug in terms of the safety and security of the team.
'We've got some excellent young players but we've got some ideas in mind and hopefully we can get them put in place.'

zto me this sounds like he wants gk, rb, and a lm sorting out

de gea
varane
young. .

if we only sign these three players then i expect to see the title in the blue half of manchester, we need to replace scholes and we also need a playmaker,

ideal signings would be those three signings plus modric(to replace scholes and nasri to give us some goals from the midfield)

The Mirror claims United's first deal of the summer will be completed this month, with a £16million move for Aston Villa's Ashley Young due to be tied up. The Daily Mail, however, can top that, by suggesting that it will actually go through in the next 48 hours and will cost £20million.

"There is a strong view from Portugal that Nani has played his last game for the club , " exclaims the Irish Independent, before claiming that the winger could be used as a £20million makeweight in a move for Internazionale playmaker Wesley Sneijder.

Although Young will be used as a substitute winger, . .If Nani makes way then we are definitely getting Sanchez.

Whilst I think Ashley Young is not as bad as people on the site make out, I personally would rather have N'zogbia. Anyone else agree? At Utd this guy could move onto the next level and would be a cheaper option, naturally left footed and a better fit for the club.

hi guys i have posted here a few times and people generally seem to like what i post but there is long shots in here i may mention just odd deals that people i know and what i have heard before i go any further i am not in the know i am just a mad football fan so here goes

ins
de gea - almost certain / if he does pull out pepe reina is a long shot
kaka - i think there is a real possibility to this hes never played in england and real madrid arent giving him weekly games for definate
sneijder - i think he may become a veron at united looks immense then joins and is useless in the prem too physical i think but still wouldn't mind
micah richards - long shot but heard this a few times around the place around 10 m i would be happy great physical presents
holding mf is the problem i believe fletcher and carrick arent up to the quality to control a game i think de rossi is good at getting stuck in but not a great passer at all i would prefer to see modric proven prem player fellaini prefer him to carrick and fletcher as a squad player there is a few young talents like javi martinez hernanes then good players like khedira schweinsteiger
cam is difficult kaka sneijder pastore hamsik
wingers i think nani will leave for deffo unfrotunately i don't like his attitude and incosistency i hope sanchez or hazard or pato is bought in to replace him

so i think ins

de gea
varane
kaka
nasri
hernanes
a holding midfielder not sure
maybe a striker so hernandez is not starting all the time maybe llorente or rossi

then theres my wish list

ins

reina
lahm or richards
sanchez
bale
modric
nasri
kaka
hernanes
xabi alonso
benzema

Not 100%, but pretty sure that both betting on that as well as simply posting that info on this site could get you both fired and arrested. Most financial institutions have extremely strict confidentiality rules and any bank dealing with football transfer sums would certainly have rules against using that information for wagers. . .personally don't care, but a heads up just in case. .

No , hold on , this is an old raport , Modric said that weeks ago , things could have moved on since then.

3 players will come for sure : De Gea , Young and Varane.

I also believe that Modric or Sneider will come for sure , and then of course we need a destroyer , because Hargreaves is out . So De Rossi , Rodwell , Defour or Banega would fill the gap.

Looks like nasri may be on his way to united. First evra singing hid praises, now rio comparing him to cantona. I think this would be a steal if united can pull this off for relatively cheap. he was the best player on the pitch when France played England not do long ago. If I remember correctly on that night he was running the show.

Wat does anyone else think bout this??

Sneijder wage demands of 175k a week may see him not move to utd, but they are his preferred choice out of both Manchester clubs

Look as I said before they forked out the wages for Rooney and they can do it for Sneijder if they really want to
