Hazard has said on French radio I don't mind if it's United or City, I like both teams. So least we can put this story to bed. City will offer more money for transfer and more money for his wages. Poor old Nasri pushed further down the pecking order. Silly greedy footballers will never learn.

I still believe SAF this time will bring in only 3-5 players of which most will be cheap youth to develop and grow in the squad just as he said, much to our disappointments given our expensive and experienced hopeful and desired lists of signings.....,but they would/could/may be good and talented and even shock the World...... so expect anything or anyone locally and abroad such as Hoilet (free and young).....,Kovacic(young,free and with a lil compensation)......,Clyne (young, free and with a lil compensation)......,Shinji Kagawa (young and cheap).....,Nick Powell (young and cheap)and 1 who would be expensive thats Nico Gaitan (£20,9m) TOTAL ~ £35,9m

Arsenal & Everton were in for Adem Ljajic 4.5m. Then we shown an interest they added 5m on the fee.
Same happened with Douglas Costa ended up at Shaktar for 5.5 and they wanted close to 17m off us.

What is this fashion with trying to rip Man United off?

What bad management. Teams know Berbatov will be on his last year of his contract and we'll struggle to get 6m. He was the EPL golden boot winner last season so why didn't we sell him then around 15m.

There are also players we watch for years to see if they have the right attitude and mentality for United. Then without even watching him play we spend 7.4m on Bebe.

Not replacing Scholes & Giggs at the right time. Are we going to this season???

Buying Hargreaves & allowing him to pass a medical with tendinitis in both knees.

Why the hell wasn't Pogba given alonger contract? He may of still wanted to leave but at least we could of demanded a fee.

Who is to blame for these costly errors?

P.s Maybe Rooney kicked up a fuss that season cause he noticed inconstancy within the running of the Club.

Next year with a good left back and 1 maybe 2 midfeilders along with youth and return from unjury we will be more than competitive!

I don't think we'll make mega money signings this season.
When Sir Alex went to France to watch Lille vs Lyon he was probably there to run the rule over full backs Debuchy & Cissokho. He was asked about Hazard obviously. I think that's a non starter though. If City WANT City GET unfortunately.

I think these players will come in to replace the ones leaving. Either bought or promoted from within.

Kuszczak - Johnstone - looks promising at a young age.
DeLaet - Clyne 2m - RB that can cover at LB.
Berbatov - Kagawa - quicker and more nimble to score and create for the team.
Owen - Macheda - to bring on as a gamble for a late goal.
Pogba - Powell 2m - new Viera for new Gerrard (we'll see)
Park - Tunnicliffe - high energy box to box player.

Scholes - his replacement needs to be a World Class player to manipulate the game to his own tempo, with over 90% accurate pass ratio and can hit the target from 25/30 yards out. Between 25/40m

Giggs - needs to be an exciting winger that can cross, score & assist to double figures each season. 20/35m

The Giggs transfer is not a desperate equitation as we have Valencia, Nani & Young.

A new Scholes is desperately needed.
Everybody who knows Man United, the game, the fans of other clubs, the commentators, the press, even World football know this. United need a new Scholes Glazer's so forget your new cars or ya holidays to Peru or your star player for American football you wish to buy.

Sod that! Get your chequebook out and make us Treble winning contenders again with two MARQUEE SIGNINGS.

I was hoping man u was going to win the league...not over yet and never know, but realistically...?

whilst I congratulate man city- they certainly have a very good team and have played some great football this season and are worthy winners. But how anyone, I include the media, pundits, etc cannot see that they have NOT bought their way to the top is seriously deluded in my opinion !

The argument that man u has spend good money on players is not the point imo. Yes, man utd have spend big at times, but your money is from being a very successful club generating money from winning, tradition, philosophy, commercial acumen, etc- I am certainly no man u fan (I am a gooner), but I can at least respect your club.

Clubs like city and chelsea are bank rolled by individual "sugar daddies" , which has nothing to do with being a successfully well run club - come on it's no coincidence that chelsea won their first league title in 50 odd years and city are about to win there's in 40 odd years after being bought by sugar daddies... its damn obvious and blatant.

I don't begrudge the fans their success, but personally I will never credit or respect either club as "champions" whilst being bankrolled- it's a completely false economy and nothing to do with a clubs history, a well managed club or hard work to get to the top.

Potentially, their success could've happened to ANY of the current premier league clubs (even wolves, qpr, blackburn etc. it may have taken longer perhaps, but not necessarily), if bought by either of these sugar daddies...not only chelsea and city per se.

For this reason, if arsenal were not going to win the league (some hope !) this season, I was backing you to win it.

2006-2011 -last 5 season spending by clubs in the premier league (not including 2012 jan transfer window). Just a few clubs...but you can see the whole PL from here:

http://www.transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/2006-2011.html

As you can see man u are 8th and my club are 20th- arsenall have made 6+ mill a year (frustrating for us fans, but fairplay too wenger finshing top 4 and spending sod all-)

Sorry for the long post, but I am so fed up with pundits, some fans etc jumping on the city 'bandwagon'- the facts speak for themselves- title bought and paid for simple as that.

For all of these unnamed posters questioning what i say, i'd just like to say that i write so many posts mainly to raise questions and spark debates about interesting things rather than childish comments between eachother and having diggs at other clubs. I, like most people on here like to talk about the football side of things, so my posts are designed to spark off debates. I have never truly stated how i would like the team to go, i have only stated what is likely.

If youd like to know how id truly like the team to shape up then ask me, and if i change my mind then by all means question me. But i do not change my mind, i have my own clear thoughts on the topic like we all do.

Couple of points on the game yesterday:

1. Does anyone have a statistic on how many goals we've scored from corners this season? I'd be willing to bet it was criminally low considering we have players like Giggs, Nani, Valencia, Young, even Rooney who are all (or at least should be) top notch crossers of the ball. Yesterday we had so, so many and never capitalised on a single one.

2. I can't help feeling that the way we attacked and the way we set up against Swansea (albeit at home) would have been a much better approach to the City game aswell? I get that we were trying to compete with them in the middle and not let them over-run us, and that we were trying to stifle them, but the fact is we just aren't very good at it, not without a big strong midfield presence. It's something we often do in Europe aswell, sacrificing attacking threat.
We should just have a go at teams and attack them, whoever they are, because on our day we're bloody good at it.

Why is everyone going on about we needing to sign 6-7 players. If SAF says ders no value for money in the market there might not be.
We love the club because of its history. We love our players because we think of them as role models and fair and good players. We are not Manchester city to build a entirely new team by buying players.
so plz support the players who are at club and lets all get behind the team for the last game.

I had a convo the other day with a mate of mine who is an arsenal fan and he said that he was well happy with his club because the owner came out saying what the plans were and why they were not buying anyone expensive because of the financial fair play rule. You here nothing like that from united, as fans we should know what is going on as we pay hard earned money.
And another thing, home come away fans are louder than us at home (Swansea, Bilbao).

so we approach the end of what is likely to be a trophyless season and the dream merchants are having a field day, once again it will be 'no value in the market'when barca, madrid and city spend big and pull further away from us.if the owners dont provide the money this season we better start getting used to playing second or even third fiddle, and how long before rooney says enough is enough, far too many broken promises and really does leave.....andog

To the people who say that City wait to see who SAF wants to buy and then goes and offers higher fees and wages to get that player - seriously! Don't be ridiculous!

Giggs and Scholes to continue next year - Ridiculous!

No value in the market - ridiculous.

We have great young players coming through - maybe, but they're all leaving, why??

Rooney to leave in the summer - ridiculous! Or is it? Another 60m to fund the Glazers debt.

QPR to draw - why not, its not over till the fat lady sings.

BTW this is turning into a Liverpool/United appreciation site.

i look on here most days and lots of people seem to be wanting a complete squad overhaul. i dont think this is what we need. like SAF has said i think we need 2-3 players, not 5 or 6 or 7 like some are saying. remember that the chances are we will end the season on level points will our main rivals, AND this is meant to have been our 'development season' that has been poor for manchester united.

IMO we need a LB, a creative AM and a hard tackling DM that can pass. not sure who these players would be but im sure fergie will already know.

personally i would be very happy with a team that looked like this next season:

De Gea.
Rafeal,Vidic,Ferdinand/Evans, (new LB)
Carrick, (new DM)
Valencia, (new AM), Nani/Young
Rooney

valencia, rooney, young and nani have been ripping teams to shreds this year and i think if one more attacking player was bought this summer we would be a match for anyone in the league attacking wise.
no more than around 30-40 mill needs to be spent, certainly not 100 mill like some are saying.

We seem to be heavily linked to these players. We may not even get one of them. Would they give more strength to a squad?

GK,RB,LB,CB,RW,LW,CM,HOLE,CF

DeGea / Lindegaard / Butland 3m
Rafael / Fabio / Clyne 2m / M. keane
Evra / Baines 12m / Fabio / Fryers
Vidic & Rio / Evans & Smalling / Jones
Valencia / Nani
Nani or Young / Gaitan 22m / Park
Carrick & Scholes / Fletcher & Giggs / Cleverley & Anderson
Rooney / Berbatov or Kagawa 7m / Petrucci / Powell 2m
Welbeck / Chicharito / Macheda / W.Keane / A.Henriquez 3m

This is our squad at the moment with the few additionds.
Young & around United's price range but none would make our first team.

This is going to be an unpopular post, but its just something to spark off what would be an interesting discussion.

I think that SAF might not touch central midfield, he will say that Fletcher and Pogba are 'new signings' for us. He's probably right there, Pogba will definatly get more exposure. Cleverly and Anderson should be back and if they can have a full season we will be fine with them as well. Cleverly, Anderson, Scholes, Carrick, Giggs, Pogba, Fletcher will be the options that we have. If none of those leave then SAF may feel that there is no room for a new signing.

In fairness to SAF, it is very very difficult to find a player out there who is available and has more potential/better than what we have. The player has to be available, the club must be willing to part with him. I think SAF would like to go for Barkley, set up a deal for the following summer. That may be why SAF is looking for more advanced players like Kagawa and Gaitan. Kagawa and Gaitan might be our two signings. They would fit into certain formations.

Historically alot of our creativity has come from the wings, SAF is stubborn so that might be why we are looking at Gaitan who would balance up the side with having a left footer on the left. He reminds me of Giggs and would be a ready made replacement for him even though i'd like to see Bale have that privilige. In terms of wing options it would be good to have Valencia/Nani/Young/Gaitan. We'd have options.

The point was brought up further down the page that the epl has got weaker. I disagree with this, I feel the traditional top four(Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool) have got slightly weaker due to being in transition. Liverpool have suffered a massive decline but us and Chelsea are in the middle of rebuilding our teams as is Arsenal its just unfortunate that they keep losing their best players to either other clubs or injury(they've had almost as many injuries as us this year). But the very slight decline in these teams have been matched by huge improvements by the rest of the league, Newcastle Spurs and of course City have very good teams and are gate crashing the party making the traditional top four look more like a top six.
Then we move onto to promoted clubs, traditionally at least one or two get relegated and play defensive football but credit to Swansea Norwich and QPR they've all come up and tried to play good football and with the exception of QPR all are safe from relegation and QPR may yet avoid the drop. As we head towards the last game of the season then only thing we know for sure is Wolves are relegated, we don't know which other two teams are going down with them, we don't know who will be playing UCL and who will make the Europa and we don't know who has won the league. Now I can't remember a season that has gone to the wire as much as this season, so surely this shows the quality of the EPL as a whole rather than just a couple of good teams a few bad teams and the rest just floating in the middle. I hope Newcastle and Spurs get better next year along with us and the other top clubs and we have an equally as interesting season as this one.

As detailed in the Guardian on Saturday, United's net spend of £51.6m over the past five years is below that of not only City (£418.9m), but also Chelsea (£155.9m), Liverpool (£83.3m), Sunderland (£69.2m), Aston Villa (£68.4m), Tottenham (£66.7m) and even Stoke (£59.7m).

Javi Martinez would be all of our number one targets, but are we going to beat the other clubs to him? Possibly not, so what alternatives do you think we could pursue. These are what i can think of:

Why is it people aren't happy with the prospect of signing the likes of Gaitan and Kagawa ?
is it because they dont carry the heft price tag we see Man City splashing the cash for ?
both would drastically imrpove our team, Gaitan especially would bring more balance being left footed, something which we have lacked at times.
These two, Clyne and keeping hold of Pogba would be a great summer.

You can all see what has happened to Liverpool over the last 2 years. They have got rid of the owners who bled them dry with debt, They have posted a loss of £50M due to the canceled stadium plans, they are rebuilding the club from top to bottom to become profitable
This is the proccess Man Utd will start going through in the near future. Fergie has already said there is no value in the market, translated that means there is very little money for transfers. Your owners are trying to float half the club on the Singapore stock exchange, ask yourself why didn't it go through when first suggested ? Two reasons, the money from the float would pay of some of the debt, the Glaziers would have the rest. When floated the shares would be in the hands of big investment companies and they would want a big dividend,so where would the money come from for players.
All I am saying to Man Utd supporters is don't be so smug Liverpools future looks a lot brighter than yours, you are in a worse position than us.

Bobbinred
--------------------------------------------------
You do realise that United are already profitable don't you? Whereas your club is running at around a £30m loss every season? Do any Liverpool fans know what's truly happening at Liverpool and not what Ayre wants them to think is happening? Liverpool need to trim the squad a lot to get in line with where FSG want the club to be at. The issue with this is Liverpool have struggled to cope domestically with this poor squad, if it's trimmed even more then how can you cope with the Europa too next season? FSG have a big challenge ahead of them and without UCL football you will never be profitable. Even if you manage to scrape into the top four the profits will be eaten up in dividends. That is FSG's motivation for buying Liverpool after all.

Sir Alex has said we can't compete in the transfer Market with Cities pot of gold.
So we'll carry on with our policy of youth & development.

Well I've lost all faith in our youth teams. I watched a very good youth team beat Liverpool, Chelsea & Sheffield United last season at Old Trafford on our cup winning run.

What's the point in youth development when we let our good players go when they are about to have their break through season. Rossi, Pique, Morrison, Pogba. I mean how bloody good do u need to be at a young age? As good as Bebe or Obertan to get 20 appearances between them.

We don't even sort contracts out properly.....
Haven't we got an agreement with Pogba for another yr?
Petrucci, Fryers & Norwood need renewing apparently.

Let's hope the pick of the bunch Januzaj, Dæhli & Peirera will be looked after properly from the academy.

Tom - "Come on QPR"""
dear mr tom
you are coming dangerously close to agreeing with ngiak's conspiracy theory
ngiak suspects you have inadvertantly hit it almost on its head
our good youth players over the last 5 years
including those you have mentioned and a few more
if given a chance at the first team....
firstly, they would have stayed
and secondly they would have been fergie's fledglings part two
you know the difference dear mr tom?
in the first fergie fledgling era, we did not need the money
now, we make them to export and sell them
using our "famous" academy to hype up average youngsters to make a quick buck... not to feed the first team
thats why the likes of giggs and scholes have to keep their arthritic legs pumping on for a few years' yet

Although I think Evans has had a great season since vidic got injured, i still feel more comfortable when smalling plays for some reason!

does anyone else think we have lost out on signing hazard? SAF has said we can't compete with city (which nobody can apart from a few clubs) and with all the speculation regarding hazard, us and man city i think city have beat us to him with the size of his pay package and that's why SAF has came out and said these things.

I posted this some time ago but it has never been more appropriate given the Liverpool posters glorying in Citys win

Liverpool fans cheering uniteds defeat is like the man cheering another man for giving his wife the orgasm that he cant

Like many others, I see our midfield as the problem. We have few central players with the ability or inclination to carry the ball forward. Good passers yes, but not players who carry the ball.

In yesterday's game we saw Smalling(bauer) bring the ball forward from defence and you could see the problems it caused the opposition. I hope he is encouraged to do this more but I really feel that this is where we have been found wanting for several years now.

Do we really need Javi Martinez as much as people on here are saying? Sure he's a great player but he's similar to Phil Jones (in the sense that he's CB/DM), who is 4 years younger than him. Dont forget that Jones is only 19, I'm sure by the time he's 23 he'll be a much more accomplished player. Plus, if we manage to keep Pogba he'll be featured a lot more next season in that defensive-mid role.
Not to mention the fact that he would cost a bomb! Money which could be spent on bringing in someone like Hazard. Would love to see Cissokho come in, especially if Fabio is out on loan, with Evra as cover.

Supporter:

1. A person who approves of and encourages someone or something (typically a public figure, a movement or party, or a policy).
2. A person who is actively interested in and wishes success for a particular sports team.

Reading through the posts from "Liverpool" fans today, who are delighted that we are presumably going to finish 2nd in the league on goal difference, I can only come to one conclusion. Blur et al are, by definition, Man City supporters. Being 9th place and 37pts off the title race has had a strange effect. Instead of moving to the traditional stance of "next year will be out year", the lads have decided that this year will be there year. Just because it isn't Liverpool's year doesn't mean it can't be their year. So a big round of applause for the new class of City supporters. Some of them are buying jerseys, others are just testing the waters, hell Andy's even supporting Arsenal too boot.

When is a club in real decline? When they have their first trophyless year in seven seasons (I'm not counting the Charity Shield) or when the clubs "fans" have to resort to supporting another team to feel involved in the title race? Well done Pool fans, you're taking the piss alright, but the big punchline is your club.

I went to Wembley yesterday and had a fantastic day but we lost as you know. But being honest , Chelsea deserved to win ... they scored twice, we scored once. Im a big boy, will take a deep breath and I will get over it

But i have to say that if I was a United supporter and after being 8 points clear of City 4 weeks ago, and to now be in the position of just about to THROW away the title to your noise neighbours....i would be feeling sick in my stomach

The league is changing and everyone, including Liverpool and United are going to have to up their game. City have invested well, and by comparison United have spent little, and it now shows. Too many ageing players (almost half your team )

Liverpool have invested a lot on young players and it hasnt worked out yet, but at least we are 12 months down our road.

ps I genuinely think that Rooney, your most loyal player (not!) will be leaving in the summer. You can see it in his body language, hes offski.

I personally dont like him but he is going to be almost impossible to replace overnight, it will take a couple of seasons. Get used to the doldrums boys.....it not nice in there ..... and trust me we should know!
