Well I tell you what if Giggs carries on with this sexy football like Brazil '70, playing youth, with players playing like Pirlo in his prime he may be swinging my opinion on the next united manager.

Welsh, as bad as the Republic were, I honestly thought that was as good a performance from a Brutish Isles team, as I've seen in many years. They were great to watch, last night. Fair play to Giggsy. I hope he does well with you.

When you play that poor an opposition, very easy to look good.

One of the worst performances I have ever seen from Ireland.

That Irish team was bad,

Can only beat what’s in front of you lads, poor or not the welsh had flair and looked excellent, 3 or 4 youngsters in the mix aswell.

I'll reserve judgement until I see Wales actually go up against a team.

Irrespective of how poor Ireland were, apparently Giggs told his team to go and and excite the crowd. And they did.

It was promising, however, it is early days yet. Coleman looked like a great manager while managing Wales, yet he looked mediocre both before and after his stint as Wales manager.

I would like to see how Wales perform under Giggs against a top side in a game that means something without Gareth Bale available.

You learn more about a manager when his backs against the wall than you ever will when its easy pickings. Ireland were dire, Wales tore them a new one. Good performance, you can only beat what's in front of you. But let's wait and see how he does. No need to either write him off or herald him as the second coming of Sir Alex yet. lol.

{Eds Note - Ed001 has created the following on the Football Player Ratings site over the last week:

Phil Jones v Inspector Clouseau
Kieran Tierney v Luke Shaw
Andrew Robertson v Benjamin Mendy
The Ronaldo v Cristiano Ronaldo
Diego Maradona v Ruud Gullit
Frank Lampard v Paul Scholes
Steven Gerrard v Paul Scholes

So am I reading that right Ed?

Gerrard > Scholes
Lampard > Scholes

Oh dear.

Gerrard wasn't even the best midfielder for Liverpool, and for a period of time Alonso and Mascherano were a better choice for me.

Lampard was a goal scorer. He reminded me of Matt Le Tis. And don't mean that as an insult, he was almost not a midfielder.

The greatest shame is that England didn't manage to get all three playing to their club standard together in a three man midfield.

{Ed001's Note - nope you are only looking at 5 categories and assuming it is relevant to an overall quality level. The categories are simply chosen to fit something I had to say about the players, not to necessarily give a fair or overarching comparison.}

Fantastic, any chance he’d switch to Irish national squad now that Robertson is captain? He’d be a guaranteed starter, and have the pick of comely maidens throughout the land. We can pretend those Scottish caps were just a youthful indiscretion.

Does anyone think pogba is almost trying to create a situation where it's him or Mourinho who leaves? I hope to god he isn't, I hope his quotes have been poorly translated. But the boy needs to learn to keep his mouth shut in certain circumstances. He's paid a hell of a lot of money, so show the club some respect.

Also not sure if it's been mentioned but talk of martial signing a contract extension because he thinks he will outlast the manager. Just sums up everything wrong with modern day football.

I hope any player not fully committed gets moved on. Ed002 was right Pogba is a problem.

07 Sep 2018 12:49:30
Nope, the club has agreed to sell Pogba for a substantial price, and offered him to clubs on this basis. The club, manager, and player are all happy for him to move on. The issue is that nobody is willing to meet the club’s valuation. People are being very silly about this by getting very angry at a player the club has agreed to sell for saying that his future may be elsewhere, and by trying to build it up to a major power struggle between player and coach.

07 Sep 2018 13:28:42
isn’t he doing a Griezmann on it though? If he stayed out of the spotlight he’d be much more attractive to another club. Why would you pay that much for someone who marches to his own tune?

07 Sep 2018 13:40:34
In fairness, the players Barcelona offered were absolute kak. No point in doing an exchange deal unless it’s players the club actually wants.

Danny constantly talking to the press and having his future in the air to have headlines in unprofessional if you ask me. Yes the club may be open to offers etc but they aren’t running him down? They aren’t coming out with some ludicrous statements. He’s still being payed and playing every week. He should keep his mouth shut and play to the best of his ability and earn the move he wants.

07 Sep 2018 14:05:27
He's being asked about it, what is he supposed to say - ‘I love United, and will stay there for ever and ever and ever’ while kissing the badge?

Perhaps, he could just say no comment, but it doesn’t put me up or down if a player I know is leaving says he is.

07 Sep 2018 14:50:50
He’s been talking about a move pretty much since he’s came back. It’s nothing to do with me being angry as you put it. I just see it as a professional displaying a clear lack of class. Half arsed performances and keeping your name in the headlines with stupid responses especially for an intelligent fella isn’t the way to do it.

Im with you Danny on this one to a certain extent.
The club tried to sell him in the summer. He wanted a move and the manager wanted to sell to reinvest.
So he is a little peeved i'd say.
But he didn't get a move and can't till jan at the earliest so he should keep his head down and play as well as he can until he gets his move.
He might well do great and everyone might change their minds .
If he was good enough he would let his football do the talking then the right sort of publicity will follow.

How much difference a month makes, seemed like every man and his dog would back Pogba over Mourinho, thankfully that's changed. He struts around like he's Ronaldo and Messi combined into one, France won the WC and he's turned into the most arrogant player we've had at the club in a long long time. Have to say, i was slightly upset when Ed002 said the club are looking to sell him, but now i genuinely can't wait to see the back of him. No consistency in his game, flashes of brilliance justifies his price tag? Throws his arms up in the air whenever he loses the ball, has come out with controversial comments after both our wins this season, despite Jose giving him the captaincy against Leicester. A large large majority of fans, certainly on social media, have actually turned against him, far cry from a month ago.

I said when we were looking to sign him back that he's not too dissimilar to Balotelli in the way he handles himself.

Differences in action are there but the consequences remain the same - a complete distraction.

As good as he is I really hope we manage to ship him out before the start of next season.

Sir Alex has been right on a lot of things post-retirement. I wonder whether getting him involved in more of the footballing matters would improve things.

The club need to modernise, move forward. SAF, as a great leader, operated in a particular way that served him well but it was very much old school, now modern footballers are moving on from the mentality that worked in distant years gone by. For those who think SAF got everything right there is the racehorse and then there was the Moyes debacle.

SAF has been very ill and I think deserves a fitting happy retirement. We need to look forward not back, the challenge of City is now there, they planned for years ahead and now we have to. There is a similarity to the post Busby years, a hankering to return to what we had before, to listen to Busby’s wisdom and follow it. It took so many years for the club to move forward after Busby so we need to ensure that doesn’t happen now. SAF is part of our past, rightly venerated for what he did but now the planning needs to be driven from the top. Planning and work on the football side should be driven by the aims of the owners, let’s see what that is.

07 Sep 2018 10:47:28
I think SAF has earned his retirement, he has a had a serious illness and it’s time for him to put his feet up and enjoy his family. Even if he was fighting fit, this would echo the Busby shadow that lingered when he moved on, it’s best to let the new guy do things his own way.

Pogba was always a risk and so it has turned out. His agent is canny and making millions for himself and his player.

My biggest issue is that in our heyday Pogba wouldn’t have got away with his behaviour. Keane, Ince, Bruce, Pallister, Hughes, Cantona, the class of ‘92 to name just some, would have ripped his head off. Unfortunately we don’t seem to have big characters who can ‘run’ the dressing room. We need talent but we also need character. How have we ended up with a Captain who doesn’t speak very good English? Klopp has it right - improve your English or you’re out.

yep, saf was right to force young players to sign for his son’s agency. that was definitely the right way to decide which young players got game time.

club tries to sell player in summer. nobody willing to pay the club’s price. player, who was offered for sale, suggests that his future may not be with club that tried to sell him. fans - omg worst oerson ever, no respect, rabble rabble rabble

yawn.

Danny, taking an opinion from the internet regarding the Pogba thing isn't exactly a smart thing to do.

Remind me to ignore most of the things you post as they appear to be hearsay.

Unfortunately I'd need more than a few words to prove that's it was the reason he left.

Either way, right now I'd rather have Balotelli.

The info about Pogba being frozen out because he didn’t sign for Fergie’s son comes from Ed001.

The info about Pogba being offered to clubs this summer comes from Ed002.

Two of the most well informed people on this site, but I guess you know best Moonie.

Ed002 is quite clearly well informed because a lot of what he says Ian backed up when it happens.

I know all about SAFs flaws but I have no reason to believe 1 persons belief on it without finding evidence elsewhere; to which their is minimal.

Either way I don’t follow the sport as much as I used too and I’m my eyes Pogba is a bigger issue than the like of Balotelli, Payet and Griezmann.
