Do people think it will benefit Man United the further Netherlands go in the competition? Or do you believe it would be better for LVG to go out slightly earlier to focus more on Manchester United?

There is a 3rd Place Playoff that he'd have to stay for if Holland lose. I hope they win.

The game that determines 3rd and 4th place is on Saturday. So the difference between winning and losing the semi final would be 1 day. Don't know if that difference is relevant.

Question for the Eds, if you have the time please.
One name that we , nor anyone for that matter, haven't been linked with this window in Gareth Bale. I remember last summer there were rumours that United were interested, and ai know it was discussed on here at the time. But I heard a radio discussion recently where Peter Reid was a guest. Part of the discussion was about the high turnover of football managers. He mentioned that he is good friends with David Moyes and talked about his sacking at United, and went on to say that Moyes had been let down by the club last summer by failing to secure transfer targets. He expanded on this by saying that Moyes was absolutely convinced that United has secured the signing of Gareth Bale, only to be left hugely disappointed.
So my question is Eds, were United really THAT close to signing Gareth Bale last summer, and if so, do you know if any interest remains?

Love and hate the Internet rumours in equal measure.keeps us all not in the know going I suppose.
Todays rumour suggest that we could be:
1. In deep discussions for Vidal
2. Fee agreed with RM for Di marea
3. Preparing to offer Rooney in exchange for Robben

I know not likely as much as I would've.it but it at least ends my day with hope and enthusiasm before the Internet treads all over it tomorrow with contradictory stpries

Latest rumour on the net is Scolari has offered United the whole Brazil squad in exchange for Bebe. LvG has "declined his kind offer".

Accrington Stanley have asked for there strikers Fred and Jo to report to training as soon as possible!

Portugal has been out of the world cup for quite a while so I m guessing carvalho deal is mostly off due to high price tag.
If evra leaves for juventus we will need another lb in case shaw gets injured or need rest.
Due to champions league not available I guess only 1 cb will come in to fill the void.
We still need a proper cover for Rafael who is very in consistent and mostly injured.
So if we are looking at both janmat and blind for combine fee of 15m than its a good good back up signed. So jones / smalling don't have to fill in at rb and they can develop as genuine CBS under van gaal.
I m not getting our hopes high by Vidal or Hummel's stories. So as di maria and Rodriguez.

Let's hope van gaal wins world cup and that interest a few players. Otherwise I m seeing only one more cb coming in only.

Lets hope Juventus get desperate after learning Arsenal's bid for Sanchez has been accepted. Could make a potential deal for Vidal easier to achieve. I want another signing :'(

Or just make them sell Pogba quicker

Well I see that our Nike contract is finished, leaving the way for Adidas to take over in a reported £60 million a year sponsorship deal. Now I am all for this and may change to wearing Adidas trainers now? However along with many national and international companies, why do they need to spend that much? I think they get massive revenue from sold kits etc, but who benefits more? Even if Nike or Adidas never sponsered another team ever, I would still know their brand.

Well looks like Sanchez is on his way to Arsenal. Shame we haven't gone in for him. For me he would be perfect for our lack of pace and penetration in attack. Only a few I'd take instead really, Reus, Robben, Rodriguez. I would rather Sanchez than Di Maria or Konoplyonka.

Don't worry, MU know what they are doing! I hope :)

if any of the eds are about; with us having Mata and Rooney who can comfortably occupy number 10 role, do you suspect Kagawa may used in any bid for Hummels? I like Kagawa but where do we play him.

{Ed004's Note - I could see Kagawa moving on however I would prefer Rooney to leave as he would bring in more money. By selling Rooney and Hernandez you could sign Sanchez and probably Vidal (probably need to sell nani, Young and Fellaini to cover both them players)}

Ed004 has always been in the same boat with regards to Rooney, he also has a soft spot for Kagawa i'm sure.

I'm pretty sure there are far more bitter, Rooney haters on this site than there are "Rooney fan boys".

PS it's called supporting our players, you should try it some time :-)

I always agree with Ed004! I share the same views! Kagawa is a better footballer than Wayne Rooney! I would rather he'd stay at the club

Mata is best # 10 and rvp is the best #9 rooney won't be happy on the bench we should sell him, and have kagawa as cover

I would happily only have two more signings if they were Hummels and Vidal. I wouldn't care less about a quick attacking player or a RB. Those two along with Shaw and Herrera will almost complete us. Plug the other gaps with kids like Wilson and Adnan.

Would it be greedy to take Konoplyanka for £12m too? It would potentially be a complete rebuild for £160/£170m (ish), Probably around £100m net after sales.

Fellaini / Zaha / Nani / Young / Buttner / Amos / Hernandez / Petrucci / Fletcher / Anderson / Bebe / Vermijl / Lingard.

Syd, do you play football manager and/or FIFA by any chance? If not, I suggest you start :-)

Is it true that Barcelona have accepted Arsenals £32 million bid for Sanchez ed? If so, I will be hugely pissed off to see one of my favorite players going to a rival when he is just what we need.

Just heard a guy on the radio saying the deal is done with Arsenal and his source has never been wrong. What a signing he could have been for us, Arsenal have just improved massively.

Has anyone else had a bid accepted?

People are still waiting for Miranda to join before discussing the next Imminent signing

The local journalists are not getting anything from the club at the moment. MU this summer are being very secretive and that can only be a good sign. It's believed that Vidal and Pogba are the targets (not both). let's wait and see.

It's all been done to death. Players, formations, sources. can all be summed up as Guesses. Nothing new since Shaw!

I think we have covered every player globally at some point or another, haha. I'm just hoping on Vidal, maybe Carvalho, late bid for Sanchez, then Verm & Hummels. Would be set for a good long time then, but we would need to shift a lot of dead wood out.

We may have a chance with vidal due to juves interest in evra and nani. It also looks like Sanchez is off their radar as he looks set to join arsenal that could only be good news as it creates the need for nani .

Would rather sign pogba than vidal. Although vidal is the better player atm, pogba will go to the next level and we won't lose face as fergie let him go, not van gaal.
Any would be great though

I think Pogba would suit Herrera better, a big powerful presence beside him. But wouldn't turn down either man. And Vidal is by far the cheaper of the two.

Vidal for me over Pogba.not too sure, about pogbas attitude, and whether he would suit van Gaals authoritarian style.
Vidal, Harera, Strootman or carvallho would do me fine!
