Do people think it will benefit Man United the further Netherlands go in the competition? Or do you believe it would be better for LVG to go out slightly earlier to focus more on Manchester United?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - There's only 5 days left I'm not sure it will make much difference now Joe}

Oh yeah! Completely lost track of time.

GO LVG!

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a 3rd Place Playoff that he'd have to stay for if Holland lose. I hope they win.

Agree0 Disagree0

The game that determines 3rd and 4th place is on Saturday. So the difference between winning and losing the semi final would be 1 day. Don't know if that difference is relevant.

Surely we'd be better off signing Khedira and De Jong for less money than Vidal on his own would cost?
Herrara is going to do the job Vidal would have been bought to do so Khedira and De Jong for their strength and work rate in midfield.
Double swoop for Khedira and Di Maria? I'd love to see it happen and surely Madrid would be more reasonable if they're selling two players.
Get Fellaini and Cleverley out and we'd have top midfielders with Carrick and Fletcher providing experienced cover and young guys like Powell and Lingard coming through

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Khadira is severely overrated! Much better options out there

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidal would lift us up a couple of levels instantly. If available for £50mil we need to go all out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would RM be more reasonable if they're selling two players? Khedira could possibly help to solve some of our problems, but De Jong? No thanks!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree about the positional sense of transfer targets, however, that is the best game I've seen Khedira have! Prior to that, I've never understood what the fuss is all about, and let's be honest, we can barely go off that performance with the gulf in class. There are much better players in a similar role, and for the probable money that would be asked I'd say that our interest should lie elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 23:22:14
I like Khedira but I just feel thee is better out there for the role we need mate, but i'd be happy if we got him tbh.

De Jong i'm not so keen on for a few reasons lol

Question for the Eds, if you have the time please.
One name that we , nor anyone for that matter, haven't been linked with this window in Gareth Bale. I remember last summer there were rumours that United were interested, and ai know it was discussed on here at the time. But I heard a radio discussion recently where Peter Reid was a guest. Part of the discussion was about the high turnover of football managers. He mentioned that he is good friends with David Moyes and talked about his sacking at United, and went on to say that Moyes had been let down by the club last summer by failing to secure transfer targets. He expanded on this by saying that Moyes was absolutely convinced that United has secured the signing of Gareth Bale, only to be left hugely disappointed.
So my question is Eds, were United really THAT close to signing Gareth Bale last summer, and if so, do you know if any interest remains?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - None.}

Cheers Ed. Were we really that close to signing Bale last summer?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - We were not}

Thanks also Ed004. Obviously just Peter Reid talking poop.as usual then!

Fred must be the second worst Brazilian in history. The only worse Brazilian belonged to Borat when he wore that mankini :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or even Borat from Kazakhstan.!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Dump, go and ask your Mrs what a Brazilian is. You may be in for a shock!

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 23:06:39
Lol betty I get it mate

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think he was referring to his nationality!?

Agree0 Disagree0

WAX on WAX off ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah, Mr.Miyagi, how are you? Still doing the Bonzai trees?

Agree0 Disagree0

Love and hate the Internet rumours in equal measure.keeps us all not in the know going I suppose.
Todays rumour suggest that we could be:
1. In deep discussions for Vidal
2. Fee agreed with RM for Di marea
3. Preparing to offer Rooney in exchange for Robben

I know not likely as much as I would've.it but it at least ends my day with hope and enthusiasm before the Internet treads all over it tomorrow with contradictory stpries

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Latest rumour on the net is Scolari has offered United the whole Brazil squad in exchange for Bebe. LvG has "declined his kind offer".

Agree0 Disagree0

Accrington Stanley have asked for there strikers Fred and Jo to report to training as soon as possible!

Portugal has been out of the world cup for quite a while so I m guessing carvalho deal is mostly off due to high price tag.
If evra leaves for juventus we will need another lb in case shaw gets injured or need rest.
Due to champions league not available I guess only 1 cb will come in to fill the void.
We still need a proper cover for Rafael who is very in consistent and mostly injured.
So if we are looking at both janmat and blind for combine fee of 15m than its a good good back up signed. So jones / smalling don't have to fill in at rb and they can develop as genuine CBS under van gaal.
I m not getting our hopes high by Vidal or Hummel's stories. So as di maria and Rodriguez.

Let's hope van gaal wins world cup and that interest a few players. Otherwise I m seeing only one more cb coming in only.

Should Phil Neville be kept on or be let go. Opinions please.
He was a major part of Moyes team and has no coaching pedigree so I'd let him go. The only post suitable would be putting the balls in the bag after training and head of cone collection.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Let go.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 20:52:25
As he was brought in by Moyes I'm surprised he didn't go when Moyes was sacked
Don't think he's much addition anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the only thing that saved him was because he was an ex player, even though he was unwanted and sold in 2005. If you watched Giggsy documentary you'd have seen he was the ball collector.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 08:12:47
Carloto,

If you watched any match at old Trafford up until two years ago you would have seen Rene meulensteen was the ball collector, does that mean he had nothing to do with the team?

Agree0 Disagree0

Rene had many responsibilities, Phils only job was ball collector.

Lets hope Juventus get desperate after learning Arsenal's bid for Sanchez has been accepted. Could make a potential deal for Vidal easier to achieve. I want another signing :'(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Or just make them sell Pogba quicker

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 19:27:45
Ed have we made a bid for Di Maria?

Cheers!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - See previous answers please.}

08 Jul 2014 08:35:35
Ed002, is it true Nike are not going to renew their contract with us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

£600m from Addidas is what people are saying, I'd take them over warrior

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:56:17
Hoping the rumour that an ex player is coming back could be Ronaldo, Pique or Pogba. Knowing our luck it could be Djemba Djemba, Gibson or Kleberson?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gibson would definitely do a job in midfield, cheap too

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 19:40:45
Pretty sure that Sir Alex quote was fake

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want Pique he's not good enough.

Agree0 Disagree0

I take this rumour with a pinch of salt, but just for talkings sake;

1) I hope it's not Pique. He has gone drastically backwards as a player in recent years yet would still command a massive fee.

2) Ronaldo will not be coming back, that is nothing but a nostalgia driven dream.

3) Pogba would cost too much and I'm not sure he would come back anyway, but he does seem the most likely of the three.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pique is still better than anything we have at the moment. I bet Giggs would be well happy if we signed him too.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about Shawcross?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:11:47
Well I see that our Nike contract is finished, leaving the way for Adidas to take over in a reported £60 million a year sponsorship deal. Now I am all for this and may change to wearing Adidas trainers now? However along with many national and international companies, why do they need to spend that much? I think they get massive revenue from sold kits etc, but who benefits more? Even if Nike or Adidas never sponsered another team ever, I would still know their brand.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 19:25:57
But Nike where the Reason we were going to get Ronaldo back

Agree0 Disagree0

Rumours it could be as high as 750m over 10 years

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe adidas will get us Messi instead ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:04:59
Anyone know why jesse lingard isn't on the tour, he was our best player on last year's tour and as Scholes has put it this week it's a travesty he hasn't had his chance yet, I know his contract runs out this month I'm just hoping we haven't lost him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's on the website that it won't be finalised who's going on the tour until the 18th.

Agree0 Disagree0

Can only presume it's because he is deemed not good enough?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 17:41:46
Well looks like Sanchez is on his way to Arsenal. Shame we haven't gone in for him. For me he would be perfect for our lack of pace and penetration in attack. Only a few I'd take instead really, Reus, Robben, Rodriguez. I would rather Sanchez than Di Maria or Konoplyonka.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't worry, MU know what they are doing! I hope :)

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:01:47
id prefer Sanchez on the right but Di Maria is more versatile. can play LW/RW and CM.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:14:28
Like with Moyes and Bebe syd?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:49:56
no like with ronaldo and rvp JK92

Agree0 Disagree0

You can put the Moyes and Bebe mistakes on Fergies toes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Bebe scored almost double the goals that the player liverpool is buying for 25m more or less same amount of games

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 19:57:25
It was tongue in cheek Chris. but still it just goes to show that they don't get everything right.

08 Jul 2014 23:20:43
That is certainly true mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 17:28:27
I know it's been asked before but sky sports are now reporting that sanchez is close to an arsenal move and I was just wondering whether Manchester United were still interested or if we should just assume he's heading to arsenal?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Forget about him, its a done deal to Arsenal.

Well p*ssed off! It's been nearly 2 weeks since we signed Shaw/Herrera and absolutely nothing since. What is Woodward doing? I hope he hasn't been collecting his mega wages in that time as he hasn't been earning it. I'm losing faith in LVG now, let's face it, he hasn't been up to much in those 2 weeks. Think we need to sort a plane out guys, anyone own one?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 17:42:45
Haha lovely gode.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can borrow my Lear jet but you'll have to pay for the fuel.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id give you the private jet but Ed Woodward borrowed it yesterday and said he was gone for the weekend

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 14:53:40
if any of the eds are about; with us having Mata and Rooney who can comfortably occupy number 10 role, do you suspect Kagawa may used in any bid for Hummels? I like Kagawa but where do we play him.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I could see Kagawa moving on however I would prefer Rooney to leave as he would bring in more money. By selling Rooney and Hernandez you could sign Sanchez and probably Vidal (probably need to sell nani, Young and Fellaini to cover both them players)}

Dangerous ground 004, calls to sell Rooney. The Rooney fanboi's will be all over you now.

Agree0 Disagree0

But Ed! isn't the bid for sanchez by arsenal accepted?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - unfortunately it has been. Real shame he is a fantastic player}

08 Jul 2014 17:44:16
Ed004 has always been in the same boat with regards to Rooney, he also has a soft spot for Kagawa i'm sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm pretty sure there are far more bitter, Rooney haters on this site than there are "Rooney fan boys".

PS it's called supporting our players, you should try it some time :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I always agree with Ed004! I share the same views! Kagawa is a better footballer than Wayne Rooney! I would rather he'd stay at the club

Agree0 Disagree0

Mata is best # 10 and rvp is the best #9 rooney won't be happy on the bench we should sell him, and have kagawa as cover

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 18:03:03
Ed, Van Gaal could get the best out of Rooney.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Possibly but I think Rooney has peaked and is rapidly declining}

08 Jul 2014 15:49:05
Hi guys does anybody know when the new squad numbers are likely to be released?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 13:58:24
So who do we reckon will be suggested to buy next, after tonights game?

Neuer? Fred? Bernard?

Personally I think that Hummels fella might have a decent game?

In seriousness, what would you guys prefer next, a CB/CM/RW/LW/ST?

HarryUTD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

RW. Think we'll sign a CB though.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would happily only have two more signings if they were Hummels and Vidal. I wouldn't care less about a quick attacking player or a RB. Those two along with Shaw and Herrera will almost complete us. Plug the other gaps with kids like Wilson and Adnan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would it be greedy to take Konoplyanka for £12m too? It would potentially be a complete rebuild for £160/£170m (ish), Probably around £100m net after sales.

Fellaini / Zaha / Nani / Young / Buttner / Amos / Hernandez / Petrucci / Fletcher / Anderson / Bebe / Vermijl / Lingard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd, do you play football manager and/or FIFA by any chance? If not, I suggest you start :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't play computer games Believe.

Agree0 Disagree0

I find that incredible given some of your posts, Syd!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Talk about the pot calling the kettle Alanis Morissette!}

I don't follow, Ed007 ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note -I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it. Sooner or later you're going to realise, just as I did, that there's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.}

08 Jul 2014 13:00:44
How ironic it would be that Sanchez going to Arsenal could be the key to us getting Vidal with Juve turning attention to Nani. If that was the case, I think we would be celebrating Arsenal's world class addition more than their fans.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 14:13:19
If that actually occurs it could be the second time in 3 years Arsene potentially hands us the title, the first one being selling RVP to us.

However I believe the Vidal saga will not be over until at least August due to all the teams interested and potential deals it may rely on

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 14:38:27
The worst outcome being Juve turning their attention to Dimaria (ed said Juve are interested and the player would not object a move either) and getting him in an exchange deal involving Vidal. Likely? If I were to choose between Dimaria and Nani, I know who I would go for.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think it will be as simple as that. Sanchez will be fantastic addition for them anyway, they will be much stronger with him in the side.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's my worry Silv - a big can of worms has just been opened with Sanchez choosing the gunners. I don't want Di Maria for the money, but if it means signing him to get Vidal (juve only option is Nani within reason) I would do it as Vidal is just so good.

I hope Nani, Hernandez, Evra appeal to Juve.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need Juventus to want Sanchez desperately. get the Vidal deal done quickly so they can buy Sanchez.all whilst negotiating Di marea deal!
Simple really.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 12:47:08
Is it true that Barcelona have accepted Arsenals £32 million bid for Sanchez ed? If so, I will be hugely pissed off to see one of my favorite players going to a rival when he is just what we need.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Yes Arsenal's bid has been accepted.}

Just heard a guy on the radio saying the deal is done with Arsenal and his source has never been wrong. What a signing he could have been for us, Arsenal have just improved massively.

Agree0 Disagree0

Has anyone else had a bid accepted?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Not that I know of but don't be surprised if Juventus make another bid and never write Man City off.}}

08 Jul 2014 12:43:51
Does anyone have full detail of the backroom coaching staff? Who is in it? Who has been kept on? I haven't heard much about this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 10:33:21
Not many rumours being posted lately guys come on let's get some chatting going about potential targets

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Jul 2014 11:35:21
People are still waiting for Miranda to join before discussing the next Imminent signing

Agree0 Disagree0

The local journalists are not getting anything from the club at the moment. MU this summer are being very secretive and that can only be a good sign. It's believed that Vidal and Pogba are the targets (not both). let's wait and see.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all been done to death. Players, formations, sources. can all be summed up as Guesses. Nothing new since Shaw!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we have covered every player globally at some point or another, haha. I'm just hoping on Vidal, maybe Carvalho, late bid for Sanchez, then Verm & Hummels. Would be set for a good long time then, but we would need to shift a lot of dead wood out.

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 12:04:37
News desk,

You tell us mate, you were spot on about Miranda joining.

Agree0 Disagree0

We may have a chance with vidal due to juves interest in evra and nani. It also looks like Sanchez is off their radar as he looks set to join arsenal that could only be good news as it creates the need for nani .

Agree0 Disagree0

We're still waiting on Miranda!? Any more insightful information news desk?

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yeah News Desk - is Carvalho walking to Old Trafford or something, took a detour to Australia on the way?

Agree0 Disagree0

08 Jul 2014 12:52:30
Would rather sign pogba than vidal. Although vidal is the better player atm, pogba will go to the next level and we won't lose face as fergie let him go, not van gaal.
Any would be great though

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Pogba would suit Herrera better, a big powerful presence beside him. But wouldn't turn down either man. And Vidal is by far the cheaper of the two.

Agree0 Disagree0

Vidal for me over Pogba.not too sure, about pogbas attitude, and whether he would suit van Gaals authoritarian style.
Vidal, Harera, Strootman or carvallho would do me fine!

Agree0 Disagree0
