As I said on this a couple of weeks ago....we need a Roy Keane character in the team as it has never been replaced....Phil Jones has the potential fill his boots in DM...

Cant see him sitting on the bench for 2 seasons waiting for his chance at CB..Ed???

Hi 007 Ed, what is your take on the Rodwell situation or if there is a Rodwell situation, a few months ago the guy had some sort of agreement with us, was it all just tabloid fodder or was there any substance to it in your opinion???

hello all. posted a couple of times before with my information being accurate. de gae, young, jones, varane and the ace up fergies sleave.. nasri. it will happen. also, i LOVE the fact that scouse fans cant help but read the united rumours and press "unbelieeevble" when they feel threatened that our title record will be extended further due to the quality of our signings..

get used to eating our dust.. and as for paying 55 mil for two englishmen that have achieved nothing, that is unbelieeevble.

That is all.

are we still going to have money to get at least on big marquee signing i.e modric/sanchez/schneider?? after splashing 16 mil on Jones?? i dont think Jones was planned, i think fergies hand was forced with other clubs showing interest!! i want schneider, what does anyone else think?? ED????

Griffy :-) {Ed007's Note - There will be still be money. Sneijders' wages are the stumbling block as far as I know. Don't ask me how, all the tax stuff goes over my head, I'm a bit like a Rangers owner when it comes to that}

{Ed007's Note - We pass our opinions on the banter site and information we have is passed on the rumours page. It is also rude to ask for sources!}

Everyone asks for sources it is not rude, I have read over 100 times people asking '' what's your source '' and they have never been questioned for that. I think maybe i touched a nerve as i'm the only person to have ever questioned you. In my opinion you know nothing which is the same as us, you run a great sight based on rumors but the information you have has been read of the internet. The only way you would know something is if you knew Sir Alex or David Gill. {Ed007's Note -It is a rumours/banter site, site policy is that we do not allow anyone to ask for sources and we do not ever ask anyone else unless it is to help us answer something i.e Phil Jones' height. It is absolutely none of your business who or what myslef or any other knows. If you are not happy with the site and can not grasp the concept of rumours and banters then I seriously doubt this is the site for you. Feel free to question me about footballing matters, but that is it.}

On the Hargo Compo.

If he retires we can lodge a claim and cite the injuries he sustained during his time at the club as the main reason why. This will result in the likely actioning of some compo to cover wage loses and treatments to the sum of £8+m.

But in all likelyhood he is going to leave us and if he leaves as a still playing proffesional then we will be due nothing and will recieve absolutely nothing by the way of compo.

Jono!

There will be big changes at OT this summer with VDS and scholes retired, Hargreaves released and sold will be gibson, brown, o Shea, , berbatov and obertan that's 9 players out welbeck and cleverly back jones and de gea bought and lindegaard already bought plus the promotion of pogba that leaves room for 3 so ed do you think Ashley young, Wesley sneijder and Raphael varane?

I don't understand all this Phil Jones banter. In my day, if a rival club beat you to signing a player you'd been bigging up for days / weeks, you didn't deny the facts, you just said you were glad you didn't get him, you never really rated him anyway and you'd much rather have [insert name of entirely average footballer here] playing for you instead because at least he could pass the ball / tackle / shoot*.

*delete as applicable.

So, Liverpool fans, instead of posting about Jones not going to United, how about: Yeah, right, we're glad we didn't get him. I think he's a bit over-rated, to be honest. I'd much rather have Kyrgiakos playing for us because at least he's got long hair.

Young - will be signes in next few days after young meet with randy lerner today

Sneijder - we are now 3rd fav to sign him at 5/1 behind city 5/2 and Chelsea 8/13 (source sky bet). We Have been in for him for a fer months but only recently chelsea have entered the race. 2 days ago we were tiped by the bookies to get him but something must have happened(possibley utd are not willing to pay the wages he demandes and chelsea are)

sanchez - early on looked like he would end up at barca but figured he wouldn't play that much. Udinese are looking for £30m which utd and barca are reluctant to pay. barca offering Jeffren, Jonathan Soriano and even Bojan Krkic - as part of an exchange deal. Sanchez said himself that Barcelona would be a "splendid destination".could end up at utd still if fergie is willing to pay.

what do you think ed {Ed007's Note - I think you should stop posting bookies odds!!!}

Phil Jones, quality signing. Sunderland bid 12.8m for gibbo, brown and o'shea, id take it. 2.8 for brown, 4.5 for o'shea and 5.5 for gibson. Also, would benitez stop young signing 4 us if he takes over at villa? id rather sanchez anyway if im honest. dont mean 2 sound greedy but id also love 1 of modric, snejider and nasri and id like that erick torres kid in place of diouf/macheda.

Dont get carried away Dylan, we dont have that much money left possibly one more signing, we cant compete with City, Chelsea and Liverpool, we have to be clever with the little money we have

If any of u fancy cheering up or a bit of a laugh read the Liverpools rumour page starting from this morning. It starts with them all excited about signing Jones then as the day passes rumours start to circulate about him having a medical at united. He goes from class to a big time Charlie in matter of minutes. Great start to the transfer window picking up where we left off last season beating the scum and rubbing their noses right in it.

Sorry to burst your bubble but its a that Steve Kean said on the radio Jones is no where near having a medical never mind had one with Yous, as Rafa once famously said FACT.And if he does join you i'll hold my hands up and say i'm gutted. But it will be Martin Kelly and Phil Jones who'll be Englands future centre half pairing.Think Vidic has more then 3 years left in him before Smalling takes his spot. Jonny Boy6

Oh dear condomgirl6, i do not think i have ever heard so much jealousy and spite in my life, truly pathetic, typical another liverpool fan writing a post on the manchester united very upset. IF ( and by all accounts it seems he will ) Jones signs for us, then that basically spells the end for kelly being a starting centre back for England, surely the pair that play week in week out will be picked? In an England view ill be happy to have a player like Kelly at right back though, but even happier knowing we have the England teams centre back pairing. Excellent news on the Jones front, honestly did not expect us to sign him but looks like we've done "another Smalling" well played SAF

Selling O'Shea doesn't mean we'll be signing a right back. Fabio can also play RB aswell as Rafael... as he did in the champions league.

De Gea (Surely the next Spanish No.1)

Smalling (England future 1st choice CB)
Jones (England future 1st choice CB and Captain)
Rafael (Brazil's future 1st choice LB)

Everyone is saying Ashley Young is a done deal. I would love to have him at Manchester United but it's not a done deal until he's standing outside Old Trafford holding up the red shirt with Fergie next to him. Is there anything concrete ? The good thing we have realised this season is that Both Rafael & Fabio are very reliable and versatile, they can both play RB, LB, LW & RW so do we really need O'Shea anymore? Jones can cover for DM & CB, two other positions O'Shea could play in. All of our defenders can play in different positions.

Rafael - RB & LB
Fabio - RB & LB
Evra - LB
Evans - CB & LB
Smalling - CB & RB
Vidic - CB
Ferdinand - CB
Jones - CB
Varane - CB

Valencia - RB
Fletcher - RB
Cleverley - RB & LB

Could we be considering the departure of O'Shea?

"sunderland have bid 12m for the trio.......6m off in my opinion. all three are worth 6m each.."

I think 12m would be bang on - 2m for Brown, 4m for O'Shea and 6m for Gibson.

I also can't see Nani leaving and I think Berba would only be sold if we somehow won the race for Sanchez. We have a lot leaving the squad this summer (albeit most of them have been bit part) and losing more senior players could be very disruptive.

The only others I can see going are Kuszczak, Obertan and Macheda.

yep so this is @everyONE who wants gibson , oshea, and evans out...

so just lets get this straight
Manchester United WILL BE COMPETING IN 4 COMPETITIONS THIS YEAR AND YOU CANT POSSIBLY PLAY YOUR FIRST TEAM IN EVERY MATCH......
REMEMBER SHALKE AT OLD TRAFFORD...IF WE DIN HAVE GIBSON(WHO WAS INSTUMENTAL ON THE NIGHT) WE WOULD HAVE PLAYED ONE OF GIGGSY OR PARK OR SCHOLES THAT WOULD HAVE LEFT US WITH FEWER OPTIONS AGAINST CHELSEA AND WE COULD HAVE LOST THE EPL ON THAT DAY! FACT...I WONT SAY THEY ARE WORLD CLASS BUT EVERY TEAM NEEDS TEAM PLAYERS FOR EXTRA COMPETITIONS AND TO FILL GAPS WHEN WE HAVE INJURIES..

Please get Schneider :-) also on other buisness i dont think we should be letting John O'Shea leave, he does a decent job and a good squad player, Brown and Gibbo can go as far as im concerned!! and Jones is a cracking purchase

De Gea and Young look nailed on now all we need is a quality midfielder either Sneidjer Nasri or Modric and we are back in business. Let Gibson and Brown leave but keep O'Shea. Ed?? {Ed007's Note - I think O'Sheas' versatility could be missed. I agree with you over the midfield but maybe an attacker brought in if Berbatov leaves, or a youngster taking his squad place}

First time poster. It looks like the De Gea deal is all but done and is simply delayed due to De Gea's agent problems. Ashley Young (who i see no more than a squad player) has been linked with us too much over past fortnight to not be true so i expect him to sign in near future, unfortunately. As for Phil Jones, word only got to me this morning about this and i must say im not happy about it at all. £16 mill for a player that we don't need in the slightest. I expect the whole Modric/Sneijder saga's to go on for some time yet and if Ferguson is serious about improving the squad properly he must sign one of these 2 players. Fergie can't let this window slip by again especially as it could be the last big window 'cos of the rules set to be put in place. Personally i would love Sanchez but i think hes out of our reach and will jet off to Barca or Inter. Overall i think the players we are supposes to be signing(bar De Gea) are not up to the standards of the players we should be signing if we are to improve on last year which is, lets face it, having a squad capable of beating the Catalonion b******s

Fabio Cannavaro. .5ft9" - World Cup winning Captain, won FIFA Player of the Year.

Franco Baresi. .5ft9" - Considered one of the Best Centre Backs to ever grace the game. AC Milan retired his number 6 shirt once he had retired himself.

Carles Puyol. .5ft10" - Speaks for himself here.

Roberto Ayala. .5ft9" - Argentina's longest serving Captain, won many honours.

Jamie Carragher. .5ft11" - Alright, not won much, but he has been good for Liverpool over the years.

Ivan Cordoba. .5ft8" - He's outstanding aswell, and is a brilliant header of the ball.

Sorry guys I'm going to play the bad guy here for a few minutes. . . .please don't tear me limb from limb! Phil Jones, £16million. Now, before I start, I do rate Jones and as a long-term signing its cracking.

However, we are not in an incredible state financially as I'm sure you'll agree lads, can we afford to be spending £16m on 'one for the future' when we have far more pressing matters at hand?

How is the signing of Jones supposed to close the gap on Barcelona, for example? Now this is a genuine question for you lads, can Jones come straight into our 11 as a CDM and, in your opinion, would he be the rock we are looking for in there?

I think he has the potential to be, but not just yet - which worries me, as we need improvements right now.

As I said, sorry to play Devil's Advocate for a few minutes lads, it's great news that we're making a signing if this is true I just wish we would start addressing the immense lack of creativity in the middle instead of adding. . . and I don't mean any disrespect to Jones with this, as I don't personally see the term as an insult as such. . . another clogger in the middle.

Who would you guys add to this signing to get our creative juices flowing in the middle of the park?

PS - We cannot make fun of the Scousers for paying £20m for Henderson when we are likely to pay £16m for Jones. Neither is worth that amount, for me.

No way we won't be buying a top midfielder!"

@De Gea, Varane, Jones & Young will cost close to £50m, but only around £35m will be paid out, the rest will be add-on clauses. We could raise around £30m selling Gibson, Kuszczak, Obertan, De Laet, Berbatov, Drinkwater & Brown.

I hope our reported signing of Phil Jones will put an end to the links to Rodwell.

I personally don't think Rodwell would ever be good enough, Jones on the other hand is a potential DM beind a creative central two and/or a part of the future Man Utd and England Central defender partnership with Smalling/Varane (depending on were Sir Alex sees Him and Varane playing).

With him, Smalling, Varane, De Gae and the twins there is a chance we could have a very solid defence for 10 years to come.

I can see 2 or 3 more signings like this for us this window (Varane for example), with 2 or 3 bigger more established names coming in for an immediate impact.

Sir Alex has done this before many times, good youngsters, in-house youth and a couple or Marquee signings, it's a good formula.

Chelsea are front runners for Sneijder as they look to find some delivery to Torres. Sanchez looked very likely to join United as he has expressed his desire to play for United, he could've been the replacement for Berbatov. Sanchez will now join Barcelona.

Liverpool are thought to have lodged a £15m bid for Louie Spence. Kenny Dalglish is thought to be impressed with his movement, and sees him as a good personality to have in the dressing room. He is seen as a replacement of departing Joe Cole and will wear the number 10 shirt.

In a recent interview, Mr Dalglish (60), from Glasgow, Scotland stated 'Louie is top of the list of a number of targets, the lads got good footwork and handles balls very well. I think he would add an element of passion and lightheartedness in the dressing room'

Already wrapping up a deal for Jordan Henderson, Dalglish is also looking to press on and find some other hidden talent, another name rumoured to be linked with a move to the Mersyside club is Derren Brown, who is Purley, London's answer to the Magician which is Lionel Messi. Hierarchy at the club, including captain Steven Gerrard, believe 'he could add an extra dimension or two'.

liverpool sign a player and they are euphoric
and henderson is certainly a very good player for his age, and under the right guidance he wil go very far
but whether liverpool is that place. . time will tell
also, yes, we were certainly interested in him
why de ja vu?
well, lotsa hype when the window opens (in this case opening)
one by one the "big" players are going elsewhere or staying put
so the "value" want to go elsewhere
next excuse. .
we only want players who "want" or "express a desire" to play at OT
well, some of these players are suddenly staying put or going barca (ooops) sorry to other teams
some deadwood need to be shiped out is the next objective? yes?
well, gibson is suddenly our next generation when he struggles to trap a ball and owen is re-signed
players guaranteed to sign?
a certain goalkeeper having "cold feet" or is it another illusion?
hmmm de ja vu indeed
well, the dateline for the glazers was the day after the champions league final
now its 1st july
the longer we wait, the higher will be the bidding war
especially players of "calibre" we are looking at
yes, the window is barely open, but the options are dwindling and our spending "power" is certainly still in question!
time will tell dear sir.

Why does it always seem like United are hesitant in their transfer dealings during the summer window? A few instances aside, we end up weakly going after our targets losing the best ones to other clubs. I know we don't have the loose money of a City, Chelsea or Madrid, but why don't we have our targets identified by now and locked up quickly. Not only does this eliminate the possibility of losing a player (Sanchez, Ozil, etc) but it keeps the price down before every other club reads it in the paper and feels like if United want someone, they should try to grab them up. I just don't get why we don't have a list (Bale, Sneijder, Varane, Da Gea) lined up and the money ready to go. SAF has done well in the transfer market no doubt, but if we want to be able to beat Barcelona (and much-improved PL clubs), we need to add class, not depth. We need 8 guys who are 100% starting XI players. Rotating works for the PL with a big squad, and we have 2-3 full squads of PL footballers, but in the big matches, esp to beat Barcelona, you cannot do it with a midfield of Park, Giggs, Valencia, and Carrick. Each are fantastic players who have won us many many trophies. They are hard workers who could play for any team in the world. But we were shown again what a full team of world class players looked like, while we played those four because they were industrious and in form. We need industrious, in form players who are also the most skilled. And we need to get them with aggressiveness and commitment, not haggling with the seller. Just my late night rant. . KG

wesley- very high wages

"I've heard that SAF is going to offer a player swap for sunderlands Henderson or is he a done deal to go to liverpool {Ed007's Note - I think it's a done deal to LFC}"

Dalglish can really spot a bargain, can't he? 35m for Carroll, 20m for Henderson. Just wait Bond, next they'll sign Adam for 16/17m.

Udinese have denied that there is any sort of agreement with Barcelona over the transfer of Alexis Sanchez to the Catalan giants.

The Italian club's president Franco Soldati issued a statement on their official website on Tuesday, saying that they have not started negotiations with Barca for the sale of their Chilean attacker.

"With regards to the statements attributed to be about a supposed transfer of Sanchez to FC Barcelona, I wish to point out these are without foundation, " he wrote. "There is no agreement between Udinese and Barcelona for the sale of this player.

"It should also be noted no meetings are planned between the two clubs to discuss any such transfer."

This comes just hours after Soldati was quoted as saying that he has been informed that Sanchez, 22, has agreed personal terms with the Spanish and European champions, and added that they [Udinese] "are just starting with the talks".

"From what we were told by the player's agent Fernando Felicevich, Alexis Sanchez has an agreement with Barcelona for a contract worth 3m a season, " said the Udinese chief, according to La Tercera. "This does not necessarily mean he will go, but it is what the player wants."

"Sanchez's yes [to Barcelona] does not mean a yes from Udinese. These are two different things. We will begin talks with Barcelona and we will not stop them from speaking with the player. But we are just starting with the talks."

Barcelona themselves have made no comment over the signing of Sanchez, but last week Inter president Massimo Moratti revealed that they are hopeful of acquiring the player.

so the red scouse over pay for a second player from the north east and we should be scared? Yes he's good but still young. And yeah we were interested but our scouting list is huge so we're bound to lose on a few. O and he's better than gibson. Stephen hawking is better than gibson.

Everything posted today has been so negative!

Sanchez went to Barcelona, and what? I'm more than happy with Nani and Valencia as the first choice with Park, Giggs, Cleverley and Young playing back up (also having Rooney and Welbeck if needed).

Henderson went to Liverpool? Well yeah, i'll admit i do rate him but it's not a signing that will scare me, the chances are he won't even get in their side with Gerrard, Lucas and whoever else they have.

Sneidjer? We probably could afford his wages and he still may sign, you never know.

Modric? he probably will stay put but i'll happily wait a season if it means we'll get him next year for a reasonable fee.

De Gea? Just because he can't confirm it yet doesn't mean he's having second thoughts. We all know sir Alex plays his cards close to his chest so why exactly would be SAY we're close to signing him on national TV? seems a little odd to me. Either we're very close and therefore confident or he HAS signed.

I honestly don't have a clue who we'll sign there are so many different players in so many different positions which are available and that would improve our squad. And to be quite honest as long as we get De Gea i couldn't give a toss who we bring in as long as they do what is asked of them on the pitch.

The comparisons to Barcelona are doing my head in, we could have a midfield of Sneidjer, pastore and schweinsteiger and we still won't match them. But as somebody rightly said earlier they won't be in the final every year, they'll have good patches and bad patches like every other team and at some point they will collapse, Messi may go for another 15 years but Xavi, Abidal, Alvez, Puyol, Villa, etc will go for another 4 at most at the top level.

We aren't Barcelona and although we are United and we want to be the best we're also our own team with our own identity and our own playing style. In some areas Barcelona have better players and in some areas United have better players. They may also be the better team but we have the better squad and to be honest I believe our fans are more proud of our team than Barcelona's are of theirs.

It will be a long summer but PLEASE don't EXPECT any miracles, we're not in the greatest financial situation and we're currently going through a period where players prefer big clubs in gorgeous countries compared to HUGE clubs in england, it's happened with Italy, England and now it's spains turn so let's see what the summer brings but don't criticize Sir Alex or the players he signs until we see them play until we see whether they are good enough and whether they are made of the right stuff to play for us.

After all the price tag isn't important it's what they do on the pitch that's important. I've said it time and time again i'd rather have a player from Crewe for £1,000,000 that plays well and does his job than a player from superstar FC for £100,000,000 that does sod all and is incredibly inconsistent.

Besides, we can't say our youth is the best in the country and read for the EPL and then go and spend millions on players now can we.

The Moon.

Seems like we're in for Phil Jones from Blackburn. Seen him a few times and he is great for his age. He was a rock for Blackburn in defence against us and also has a good centre back partnership for the U21 of England with Smalling.

The only question is why we would also sign Varane, who seems to be a done deal and only questions about where he will be loaned to in the french league. I think the only possibility could be that Varane is regarded as a future defensive midfielder.

That said i would prefer to get Phil Jones who is proven in the Premier League at a very young age.

united will look to wrap up most signings by end of June. De Gea is a done deal along with Varane. Erick Torres could be the only striker signing. We should expect 3 big names with De Gea already one. A winger is looking like Ashley Young ahead of sanchez due to his liking for Barca and Young also being a "homegrown" player. Take your pick between modric and sneijder but expect more Midfielders to be signed if players lik Gibson and Oberton leave
