Great result and a really good performance. A noticeable difference was how high we pressed and we need to do this against City. They will want to play from the back but if our front three can pressurise their defenders then they will be thrown off their stride.

Sanchez has been a disaster so far but his energy and running caused all sorts of issues so let’s keep him in and persevere. If that means Lukaku doesn’t play then so be it, nobody is untouchable.

The subs are making a real difference showing it is a squad game and there is a definite spirit ab it the team right now. If we can do a City then the whole mood will lift again. The League is a big stretch this year but let’s get back in the mix.

Shocking start to the season, looked like Jose was going at one point, players looked lost but all of a sudden we've completely turned it around, huge results in the last few weeks and long may that continue, certainly need one on Sunday. One things for sure, we need a CB in january at any cost, get one in and should get top 4 as long as we no more than 3 points off come January. Icing on the cake would be a CB AND a RW, right side is non-existent atm.

I've got this one but need I'm not sure how it'll end yet:
At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong, and I learned how to get along

And so you're back from outer space
I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed that stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me.

A few weeks ago a few things had to happen imo.
1 first and foremost jose needed to regain control of the dressing room. He appears to have done this.
2. Just as important the board needed to reign jose in and regain control.

Spot on ken. Quite the turnaround. I was firmly Jose out but the past few weeks have been much better. Hope we get the players in that we need in jan. still not convinced Jose is the man to take us forward beyond this season. But fingers crossed we can improve the confidence and style and style of play. The squad seems united. That is the most important team. Hats off to all involved.

Well that was awesome.

Cried there credit is due - we rode our luck but who doesn't away at Juve. Jose hit his tactics and sins spot on, and Allegri invited us on them with his changes at 1-0.

Great win, fabulous result, and here's to confidence growing. Martial, Herrera, Lindelof and Young played very well last night.

At times we do look decent. A better, natural right back, a proper right winger, a more mobile version of matic and an experienced centre half would finish it.

Alright fellas,

Been a few weeks. Great result last night, very good away performance in Europe last night. Got a few points over the last few weeks all based on players I've been very critical off.

Sanchez looks to be improving, especially down the middle. His link up play has been good, maybe worth considering him playing closer to lukaku against sides where we will dominate the ball?

Martial is showing his enormous potential, clinical in front of goal, beating men at will. What's really impressed me however is his willingness to dig in. In the first game with Juve, Cancelo got in quite a few times. Last night I can't recall his full back getting passed him. He was excellent in all aspects last night.

Finally, Lindelof has been absolutely fantastic last few weeks. More aggressive in the challenge and reading danger better. Countless clearances last night and a very important one when De Gea saved the deflected cross last night. Hopefully we get a good solid partner beside him and he will develop.

Let's take this form into Sunday and get another positive result!

Caolán.

I've not been impressed with Sanchez but over the past two games he's shown great energy and he is creating space for our other forward players to play in.

What a fantastic if unexpected result.

I was very impressed by Sanchez, his movement was good, his first touch assured, he allowed us to keep possession, build up attacks and he also pressed well from the front. He forced us to play football for a change and we didn't see as many aimless long balls needlessly surrendering possession which often happens with Lukaku up front.

Herrera brought bite and energy to the midfield. He was mobile, tenacious, worked tirelessly and provided some much needed legs around Matic.

Unfortunately Pogba was poor for the most part. He can be so wasteful at times and I'd just like him to keep things simple until he enters the final third. On the other hand I love the fact that he never hides, even when he's playing badly he always wants the ball. We simply can't deny his quality and in moments he's still capable of great skill and he played a part in both goals! Even when he plays badly he can still impact the game and my frustration is he is capable of so much more.

Martial has been lauded and whilst I think he was decent he also played in bursts like Pogba. He was ok defensively but I'd still like to see him press more aggressively without the ball. I think he can close down and press much quicker and his movement off the ball can be more intelligent. There is no doubting his quality with the ball at his feet however and all our best moments came through him. He is fast becoming one of our most important and influential players. He can still improve but his potential is frightening.

I thought Lingard's movement and pressing was excellent. He linked and interchanged dangerously with Sanchez, Martial and Pogba at times however his end product was missing. Perhaps this is understandable as he hasn't played much football recently but he injected much needed energy and intensity to the team which was lacking in the first game.

Moving forward we still lack mobility in midfield where I thought Pogba and Matic were too easily bypassed especially in the second half. We afforded them too much time and space on the ball again especially around the edge of our own box where we were slow to get out and close down. I'm not convinced Fred is the answer but we probably need some more mobility and energy instead of Matic. Maybe it's time to give Fred a chance alongside Herrera and give Matic a much needed rest.

Our improvement last night must be because we had more mobility, fluidity and intensity to our play and we pressed more aggressively. Sanchez dropping deep upset their defence and forced them to decide if they followed him dragging themselves out of position or let him turn with time on the ball. We had willing runners in Martial, Lingard and Pogba and we actually looked like a football team rather than static, rigid statues for a change. This must be the blue print moving forward if we want to be taken seriously again. The likes of Lukaku, Fellaini and Matic all still have an important role in the squad but our football must be faster and more fluid if we want to challenge the best at home and abroad.

Looking forward to the weekend I don't expect too many changes. If we are still in the game with 15-20 minutes to go then Maybe Fellaini can have a similar impact breaking into the box and being a threat from set pieces. I don't mind direct football, it can be an effective tactic but we should always strive to play football first. After last night we must believe anything is possible!

Thought Sanchez was brilliant. We look far better with him pressing from the front. Like DLIB mentioned, he forces us to play a bit more because we don’t have the option of playing it long to to Lukaku. The front 3 looks for fluid and he created space for the other attackers with his movement. Sanchez is at his best collecting the ball and using his agility and ball control in tight areas. I hope Jose continues with him up front as he builds his confidence. The goals will come as the understanding with those around him and his confidence improves.

Well done to the lads. Its just something about Turin! Just like United of old. Must say the swuad has looked a lot more together over the past few weeks. A big fist up from Mourinho to the media by bringing the team together. Looks like he hasn't lost the dressing room and certainly won't be getting the sack on Friday 6 weeks ago 😂😂. Great job by the guys who gave it their all.

I fancied us yesterday, put a little bit of dough on us as well so it was nice to win on both counts.

Thought we were too negative at times and we were lucky to be honest. Juventus were unusually wasteful in front of goal. Been watching a lot of Juve this season and they have been winning but not looking as good as the table suggests - however it had a David vs Goliath feel about it which is absolutely ridiculous when you take a step back.

Herrera was very good. I don't like Young playing as everything is delayed, Pogba gave it away more than he kept the ball. I thought Sanchez worked hard and looked a lot sharper. Obviously it's hard to take the game to Juventus away and we snuck it yesterday. Jose is getting a nice run of luck at the moment and you make your own luck I suppose, we were unlucky to drop 2 points to Chelsea as well so swings-roundabouts.

Hopefully we start the game on the front foot this Sunday and don't give City as many opportunities as I fear they will put us out of sight if we aren't better defensively.

Great result, hopefully we can have a bit of a mini-clear out this winter and bring in 1-2 quality players. The wholesale changes in the summer as too many of our players will never be good enough for the very top.

Was the purpose of this post to tell us you won money? I see no other point to it? At least Pogba attempts to make the killer pass, or the pass that makes the difference. You contradict yourself too much here, I honestly don't know whether your pleased or gutted.

Beast your a gas man.
A clearout?
A month ago you said that you would not interview a manager that wanted to talk about squad changes and investment.
Whats changed your mind on that?

In terms of recent cl performances last 5 years it was david v ggollaith. We havnt been qualifing and they have been in finals so on current recent form we were massive underdogs reflected in the odds toy recieved i'm sure for a 2 horse race.
Perhaps not so much in total history but in last 5 years i think it was a shock result. They don't lose often there i tjink that is there 1st cl defeat there.

King Giggsy - partly about me expecting us to win and not buying into the David Goliath BS to justify defeat if it occurred. Also my views on several players performance - did you miss that part?

Betty - When the odds are that good you have to take the punt, although I have lost as much as I have won betting on Utd this season. I won't be betting on us this weekend though.

TopBomin - Yeah there are some good signs, Jose did well last night - game was perfect for vintage Jose where we were 'allowed' to camp and break. Same again against City, but it's the mid-level and below teams where this is horrible to watch and shouldn't be tolerated. It shouldn't really be tolerated now, but we are where we are.

We are no where near as good a team as Juve. Or City come to that. Let's hope for more luck on Sunday!

Ken - The manager still needs to go, he is not getting the most from his players, but people like Matic, Lukaku, Young, Pogba, Smalling, Mata - do not champions make.

It doesn't have to be one or the other, there are grey zones.

Juventus had Khadeira, two old knackers at the back, Betancur, Cuadrado, Sczezny in goal. The only genuine class in that team was Ronaldo, Dybala, Pjanic, Sandro.

We need a clear-out top to bottom. Half measures are what got us into this position. No point allowing Jose to buy the new team because he is no longer suitable for that role and his signings are all over the place. New manager, new ideas, new identity required.

However a new manager should come in and say he can turn this bunch into contenders, then I'd back him. We should be doing much better than we are with the team we have, despite them not being brilliant in most cases. You can;t have a team of superstars but our superstars are seriously underperforming (aside from DDG and Martial recently) .

Beast young smalling matic mata and pogba have all been champions for the record. Smalling and young were not playing much i grant you that but they have the medals.
But i do agree with you. We need a huge clear out but i'm just wondering why you said you would throw a candidate out of an interview if he said he needed new players. Mayberry its so obvious we need some. Maybe you were just ranting that day we are all guilty from time to time.

Also if you think the squad is so poor and i agree why do you blame so much on the manager? Imo no other manager would have got us 2nd last season

Do you think any other manager would have got this squad to 2nd behind city last season?

Agree1 Disagree1

08 Nov 2018 18:06:19
Ken - I knew you would go there. But they were not the key to any team, they were periphery players for their title winning teams in the main. They are all good players, but not suitable for a Man Utd I'd like to see personally.

The teams they won the league with had world class (reliably world class) around them. Our best players are not performing anywhere near their maximum and that is the manager job, that is why he needs to go (amongst other reasons) .

We have too many decent but not great players for sure, but we should be playing better. I have been ranting and do go off on one occasionally, hard to get it down properly so I'll hold my hands up mate.

2nd means nothing really, it was a poor campaign despite finishing 2nd, football was appalling and it has been for most of this season. We do not look like champions, after 2.5 years in charge I'd expect us to be on the right track, not looking just as disjointed as his first season with Liverpool, City and Chelsea (after a few months under Sarri) looking far more formidable.

If you are asking me if Jose is the 2nd best manager in the world, I say no, he is not in the top 10, maybe 20 anymore. He was great, but now he is a spent force. So I think many other managers would have us do just as well and probably better last season, but I don't think anybody would have caught City last year - we just could have looked a lot better going for it under somebody that plays the game the right way and isn't such a problem off the pitch.

Agree2 Disagree2

08 Nov 2018 19:46:02
Beast mate i think he will leave in the summer no matter what happens i agree with some of your thoughts but not many.
But i posted above i think he now has control of his dressing room. Players are responding and the increased effort is obvious. Big egos have been dropped until they put in the required effort.
But also the board have regained control over jose and the change in him is obvious too.
He is being more tolerant with the players because they are giving him more and as a result their form and attitudes are showing definite improvement.
Jose is far from finished. I think he may well end up in madrid next season just a feeling i have.
We are woefully short of top quality still in 3 or 4 positions.
Were we right not to buy aging players at inflated money. Yes imo.
I want to see a united effort from the coach players fans and board alike until the end of the season. This will be a really tight fight for the top 2nd to 4th, i think city will run away with it in the end. Its essential tjat we secure top 4 Then if jose goes and we get a new coach we can build from a more solid base.
