I see the agent of Dani Alves has confirmed he will leave Barca, in my opinion signing him for a few years could be a good idea. This would allow funds to be put to better use else where whilst ensuring we have a half decent right back and what's more hopefully the Spanish contingent (De Gea, Mata, and Herrera) will have a good understanding on that side of the pitch.

Thoughts anyone?

Cheers

Anybody aware how Saidy Janko is doing on loan?

Is ready to play cup games next season? Perhaps taking Rafael's place in the squad as a 3rd choice RB.

My concern is when we already have potential issues complying with the wages side of FFP it makes little sense to pay a player potentially past his best obscene wages. I accept if RVP and falcao leav that will free up a big chunk, but I suspect that most if not all will be used up on a new cb and strikers wages.

My preference would be to see the club investing in long term solutions.

If we sign alves I will cheer him on, but I would prefer we didn't.

Luke Chad isn't Dani Alves Brazilian -therefore Portuguese speaking, not Spanish?

In Luke Chads defence given solves has played for barca for several years and Seville before that I suspect he can speak Spanish despite being Brazilian/ a Portuguese speaker.

That should have said "Alves". I hate autocorrect.

Huggy, obviously he can speak Spanish but there is a lot more to it than that! Having worked simultaneously with Spanish and Portuguese people they are VERY different!!!
However, at 32 is he the answer? Seamus Coleman was reared as an avid Reds fan and he can play a bit too!! About time we had an Irish full back again!!

lvg haters ?
we have been much better the last few weeks so credit where it is due lvg has finally got it right or at least improved .

but its ok to be critical of a manager or a player for that matter.

we have got rid of 3 at the back, which clearly wasnt working . never mind all this "lvg has to play 3 cb because . it was clearly a tactic that wasnt working .

we have started to play herrera and seen the rewards . which for anyone who has watched over the previous seasons will be no surprise.
how did he struggle to get in team ?

we have ditched the slow possession, trying to tire the opposition out, picked up the pace and again we are seeing the rewards in more attractive football .

we have moved rooney from cm, why was he ever playing there ?

and thank god rvp got injured .

lvg has the team playing well now but he has made several mistakes but it would seem you are a doom and gloom if you point them out.

ive said this many times, this is a very good united squad and people are starting to see what it is capable of .
people have made excuses for lvg but to be fair to the man he seems to have identified what was wrong and changed it (no excuses from the man himself ).
he is actually setting up the way many of the doom and gloom people wanted

No offence Jred , but this has been done to death now , and from both sides of the fence. There is nothing to be gained from going over it again and again , nor from all these "I told you so" or "I said all along. " posts , whether it be from pro or an to LvG.

I've no doubt it will all blow up again when we lose a game , and we will.

Until that happens , there is not too much to moan about on the LvG front for the time being. How about we all just move on and enjoy the football. Untimately , that is what we have all been waiting for isn't it?
Now we have it , let's enjoy it , and enjoy the last few games of the season and see if we can get that 2nd spot.

Although this is in reply to Jred , it is not directed at him personally. I mean it generally.

Its about time we all moved on to something else.

How about another Rooney debate. Is he a legend or overrated?

Noooooooooo!!!

Ed002 - just a quick question in regards to player transfers and the FFP rule. Hypothetically if a player like Messi was desperate to leave Barcelona but no club could afford him due to FFP regulations could Messi take legal action against UEFA for infringing his working rights even if he is still under contract at Barcelona?

Obviously this is a 'what if' situation but could that be a possible route for a player to go down?

{Ed002's Note - I answered this morning when you last asked.}

So its official, research done and everything, Rooney is a striker and it is his best position. He is no wide player, never a number 10 and dear god not a CM player. Nice to be proven right :-p

he is a better striker than a 10 , but he is still a better 10 than the likes of kagawa.

Just wanted to know what you guys think about Di Maria coming in for Young?
I personally think it would be a mistake to bring Di Maria back for this game. Young has been playing exceptionally well and works his socks off; but there were signs in the last game that Di Maria might be finding some form.

It is a big decision for the manager; but I for one think we should stick with the same side that beat Villa.

We owe those bitters one.

Nope, leave Young in, he has earned his place. I wanted him gone last summer but he has turned his form on its head, he deserves a starting place.

I think Ashley Young should keep his place too due to performances and his work rate defensively. Di maria can always come on later in the game when city players are tired (if we keep possession) or should we be chasing the game.

I'd put di maria in for young. Di maria won't hit form if he's not played. 20 mins here 20 mins there is no good.

On his day di maria is awesome.

You won't be consistently good if your not consistently played.

Put di maria in for young and put young at rb for valencia. The amount of crossing opportunities valencia gets, youd expect young to get a few assists there. Fairplay to AV but he's not good enough, young at rb i think will be quite good

Bad Idea, i thinks e should go out with the same line up we have had great success with over the last few weeks. Di Maria losses the ball in terrible positions and last thing we need is aguero running at a defender in one on one situations there is only one winner in that contest. We need to shut down Silva and Nasri if he plays and Dimaria defensively is poor and does not offer much help.

Just been reading about Herrera and also saw his selfie with Mata. Love this guy and such a positive person by the looks and sounds of it. I think it will bode well for the future having someone like him in our team not just because of his playing ability but everything else he brings and especially if we are looking at spanish speaking players to add to the team.

I saw a rumour the other day that Barcelona could look at Herrera to replace Xavi I think it was when their transfer ban ends in 2016 but to be honest, the impression I get with Herrera is that he enjoys playing for the club. I think the Spanish players who leave Spain realise their is so much more to life and football outside of Barcelona and Real Madrid and on United's website that was an article and interview with Mata about how they are enjoying a near telepathic understanding. I think it is no coincidence that they are both performing well at the moment and I would go as far as saying they are both currently undroppable. With all the chat of strikers perhaps we should get Torres in, these two would get him back to his old self! (That was a joke!)

The 2 big Spanish clubs like to think they can get any player they want,I hope Herrera proves the wrong

We all look at overseas players, but I think villa have a real prospect on there hands in jack grealish? This guy is a talent? This kid is only 19 and already making great strides in let's face it a poor villa side? With the right tutoring he may well go far? I'd say bet on him because in a few years we may be saying 'what if'?

1. Yes his name is jack
2. Maybe he should go on britains got talent?
3. Isn't he in the 'poor villa side' meaning he's poor?
4. He may well, yes
5. I can say it now, what if?
