In my opinion we should sign these players:
Jordi Alba
Shinji Kagawa
Jack Rodwell
Gary Cahill
And a right back of some kind.

IMO fergie won't sign any of these players but these current players should go:
Jonny Evans (please just retire, you're awful)
Giggsy
Evra - been poor since 2010 WC
Macheda
Gibbo
Diouf
Park

Cheers everyone and have a good christmas

I've seen the words ""United class"" here too often. So please can anyone tell me what ""United class"" means and also which players in the present squad are considered to be such.
Answering this might give you people a rough idea about how many players we actually need.

Caughtoffside has reported today that Man City officials have been sent to Vatican City to inquire about the availability of one God Almighty. Sources close to the club have said after their early exit out of the Champions League, Mancini was overheard saying to his assistants "Only God can help us now" . Sheik Mansewer has spent several hundreds of millions on "God Like" players but has seen them fail miserably in their attempts to obtain the Holy Grail of football. The Almighty One has been known to favor the red side of Manchester with his Devine interventions aiding the Red Devils to numerous trophies over the years . Close friends of God have said although he is flattered by the interest shown by City, he feels the direction of the club is heading downwards to Hell and that is a place He knows He is not welcome. Sheik Mansewer has said he is willing to throw in Nasri as makeweight to sweeten the deal but the Vatican has stated after the incident with Judas a few years back, they see many similarities between the two and are not willing to take that risk. There is no doubt God's creativity and lightning bolt speed would catapult Citeh into the high heavens of greatness but it seems the Vatican are not willing to sell Him at any price and have said " Glory and honour is not bought, it is earned!". After several translators tried explaining this to the Sheik, he was seen storming off muttering " What about His son Jesus? I heard he can perform miracles, how much for Him?"

After the Palace result Sir Alex came out and apologised to the supporters for the performance well what about the Champions league. He has no problems criticising previous regimes for the restrictions they put on him well now is the time to come out and tell us all what is really happening at the club with the finances.

Sydney will point out the £50m transfer splurge on Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea as evidence that the Glazers are not as frugal as portrayed. But even this is not as straightforward as it seems. Ferguson has said himself that the new arrivals were funded because of the considerable savings made from releasing Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Edwin van der Sar and Owen Hargreaves, each of whom earned around £4m a year. United also made around £10m by selling John O'Shea, Wes Brown and Gabriel Obertan, along with a couple of reserve players, Corry Evans and Joe Dudgeon.

Ferguson wanted to sign at least one category-A midfielder, but the club decided Wesley Sneijder of Internazionale was out of their reach. Samir Nasri was offered more to go to City, where they already had David Silva and Yaya Touré. Luka Modric wanted to leave Tottenham but United left the bidding to Chelsea and, since then, is it really a surprise Ferguson's team look so conspicuously short in midfield? Anderson is too erratic. Michael Carrick is an elegant frustration. Ryan Giggs is 38. Tom Cleverley introduced some thrust and vibrancy at the start of the season but the expectation placed on him surpasses the reality.

"Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Danny Welbeck will be the foundation of the club in a few years time, there's no question about that."

Quote is from Alex Ferguson. Some good news about the youngsters coming from the man himself. Thought I'd share.

With all the players who we all think are no longer good enough (we know which ones they are) we could get maybe £40million. Add that to whatever we would get for transfers we could have £80 to £90 million, here's what I think is realistic and what I'd like to see happening over the next 2 windows.

RB - Van Der Weil - £12 to £15 million
LB - Cissokho - £12 to £15 million
DM - Sissoko £12 to £15 million
CM - Rasmus Elm - £12 to £15 million
AM/LM - Shaquiri £12 to £15 million
ST - LLorente - £20 million

I know pple are gonna say you valued them all the same but thats there valuation. Those 6 players will cost £80 to £95 million and would make us a lot stronger in all area's.

From a very long time I've been of the thought that if Carrick moves to Italy he will win over the fans in no time. He has a good footballing brain, can pass brilliantly, can read the game but there is only one problem he needs time on the ball much like Aquilani. He can be sold there on a player plus cash offer (we'll pay the cash and player).

Anyone else think with improvement on tackling Valencia could well be a right back? He has strength and pace already, and lets face it he isnt the winger he used to be. Would allow more funds to be spent on CM, LB and maybe even another Striker/Winger preferably a Stringer (Two Combined) like Iturbe? Instead of strengthening the RB position. The twins are quality but notoriously injury prone. Should only be used as backup unless they keep their fitness.

Everyone on here keeps on talking about we should get this or that player but the truth is we have a very short list of possible candidates.
Ozil- Wont leave Madrid
Modric- Next season Spurs will be in CL so he wont leave
Sniejder- At 28 he can be a rare possibility
Gotze- Wants to go to Spain or Arsenal
Ericksen- Wants to go to Spain
Ganso- Wants a move to Italy
Hazard- Wants a move to Spain. Liverpool fans believe they get him in return for Joe Cole, very likely.
Thiago- Will never leave Barca
Lucas- Dont know his favorable destination but I guess it would not be England
Kagawa- Dortmund are in the running for winning the league again but still they might sell him. Dont know why people here dont rate him
Cahill- Chelsea will get him
Bale- Barca bound or will remain with Spurs
Yann Mvilla- Can get him, will be a great addition

We'll have to buy youngsters capable of turning world class as players we want dont want to come to United.

I think Macheda should go on loan to some English club before giving him away. It would be a good experience for him and we might find his worth.
SAF also looks like that he is keeping Macheda cause he doesnt want another Rossi saga.

I don't think Cahill is good enough for United. Why should we settle for a mediocre CB only because of Vidic's injury? I think the right move would be to sign a established quality RB so smalling can concentrate on CB along with Rio and Jones. My pick would be Van Der Wiel, he looks quality and is around the right age, is his contract not up soon aswell? We can no longer rely on the twins they are clearly made of glass and are a liability. I was their biggest fan when the burst into the first team but its becoming a bit of a joke and a waste of 2 subsitutions. I would bring in Rodwell aswell. He looks as if he has overcome his injury issues and will kick on to become a quality player. Rodwell and Van Der Wiel in January? How much would that be £25mill?

I'm going to throw a few names about of who i think we should sign over the next two windows. I'm not going to name who i think should get sold as we all know who should go. Ok january i would sign gary cahill and jack rodwell. Gives us more defensive options with vidic out and also someone who can give a platform in midfield and allow others to attack. I'd also ask barca what they want for afellay. In summer i'd bring in a leftback. There's not much in england to go for and really the only names i can think of is baines. I'd also consider the lad at celtic. Depending on afellay we'd probably need another attackling midfielder but its all the usual names. We need a top striker so would try for higuain. Would also sign zaha from palace.

Seriously guys!! Most of you are saying that we used our best team against Basel and we didn't win!
Stop being so pride like SAF and assume that we are not good enough.

SAF was unable to admit that we are not convincing ANYONE and we weren't good enough in CL.

Stop using excuses like transition and injuries.

The truth is that we don't have a good depth in the squad and lack of motivation and the mentality needs to be rebuild again!

SAF always wait to the stupid 80minutes to use the bench, why? Cause there's no quality in there or we still leaving MAN UTD VS Bayern(This is PAST). it won't happen every game. Others said that we created chances this is why there's no need to change, but we scored?

This season is a shame for us! SAF must start working for next season because our best team was unable to cope with Basel and Benfica 2 games each.

But the only thing that is disgusting in SAF is that he thinks that we are blinded. He cannot assume that we are rubbish right now.

I thonk we shoul use Jones with Clev(When is back)
maybe we will play better that now.

God bless

I think Young should be moved to right and Nani to left. Nani can cross with left foot also and has experience of playing in that position. Young is too predictable at left as defenders know he'll bring the ball to his right foot. At right wing he'll be able to deliver the ball while running and he possesses a bit of trickery as well.
Another option is to play him up front where he plays well.

United have 8 injuries if i counted right.
City have 1 - Kolarov?

Yet LFC, CFC, AFC and MCFC fans are saying United are done?

Half our first team are injured and our second team/reserves just aren't up to it no more. Hopefully when the players are back we'll get back on form. Who knows might even see somebody brought in. No big bucks though.

Nobody can write Manchester United off.

Absolutely gutted over last nights performance, but I'm hardly surprised wit they way we have been playing lately.this is wat happens when yu dnt win yur home games.fergie put out weak sides in de champions league group stages and under estimated the opposition. There has been too many changes in the squad every week!some of them were forced by injuries but some have been just strange decisions.we were a shambles when we hadn't got the ball, mid field was just nonexistent,we never looked solid.especially when vidic went off.and wats the story with Evra been so complacent, good going forward but has no interest in defending at all, very lack lustre.all in all we weren't good enough!the squad ain't good enough and even the good players that we have been playing brilliantly on a consistent basis.fergie doesn't know his best squad.he is struggling big time to put a good squad out now with all the injuries!the future looks very bleak.it cud be our worst season for many a year unless fergie gets the cheque book out!if not I can see big offers coming in for our good players!we will struggle to hold on to them.

Super red.

Looking at the injury to Vidic and our other injuries atm i think a change in formation is needed in order to make sure we are defensivley solid until January. I'd go for a 5-2-3 formation in order to make the best outta a bad situation. With the players we have availble atm i'd go with this:

_____________DDG
_____Jones Ferdinand Smalling
Valencia_________________Evra
_________Carrick Fletcher
_Nani__________________Young
____________Rooney

this would give us a very solid centre with with being given by Valencia and Evra allowing Nani and Young to move freely to create chances inside. It won't be pretty but it'll give us a solid platform and a stability to build on.
