IMO, I think we will play the same tactics that were used earlier on in the month against Tottenham against Madrid on Wednesday. We will play Jones in right CM to drop back and double team Ronaldo the same way we counteracted Bales threat.
Smiler

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Personally I expect Ronaldo to play down the right on Wednesday as they will know that Ronaldo can skin Evra all day long. Of course he will switch flanks and drift inside but I fear for Evra in the away leg especially.

Been a great say in the prem today with city losing, not just to lose but get completely outplayed and deservedly saints claim the points.

Also hw well did bale play today? Turning into a beast! Scoring for fun and that turn of pace is a brilliant sight to behold, the prem is a better place for him.

Mainly i'm looking forward to everton a lot tomorrow, ill still go for 3-1 United, prediction from earlier

Why is angelo henriquez not getting any minutes at wigan. In his 2 sub appearances he has scored once but he has sat on the bench for the past few games. Do you think henriquez will become a regular in wigan team at some point?

Cheers in advance

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Time will surely tell, if he has an outstanding performance they would have to consider starting him.

-JakeW

Agree0 Disagree0

He was brought in primarily as cover for Kone when he went to the AFCON but he's back now. So Heniquez may find playing time hard to come by but I'm sure he will get the odd chance and if he takes it with both hands who knows what will happen. He's still very young so any experience in the EPL will be useful.

Interesting Question to the united fans. Bale is seen by some spectators as good or if not better than ronaldo. what's your views on the subject seeing as couldn't praise the great ronaldo highly enough?

Some news regarding Petrucci : He played the full 90 minutes for bottom placed petersborough and helped them to an unliely win against 2nd placed leicester. He was dangerous throughout and tested the keeper on more than 1 occasion. He also scored an outstanding volleyed goal from 20 yards.

ok strongest team 2moro plz, let's get 12 points clear, the big playes can play twice in 3 days, then let's wot we can do the sat after that with a few players rested for the FA cup against Reading at OT
Chris the REDman

Believable7 Unbelievable0

I'd like to see this too but it isn't going to happen. Not 100% sure what people think the strongest team is anyway, I reckon if you asked everyone on here to name the strongest 11 we would get 18 or 19 players on the list. We have almost 2 players for every position.

Let's hope fergie gets the balance right tomorrow and we scrape a win and also give ourselves every chance of beating Madrid on Wednesday. That is one of the biggest matches in recent years, we have to be fully prepared in my opinion.

3-1 real madrid. Madrid will boss the midfield.

Big Al

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Your right this results totally dictates what the situation will be over the two legs we have to play. Absolute genius. I'm sure our style of play will be designed to deal wit there midfield as best we can if we can isolate two of there midfield players they will try play down the wings which could suit them but could also give us the chance to drop deep an wit constant attacks on the break supplying RVP ASAP we can steal some goals an stun them. I am worried for RVP cause Ramos an pepe seem heavy handed an I think we could see cynical tackles known he could miss the second leg I really hope I'm wrong but this is all they are playing for. JM wants it so bad as does ronaldo as he could happily move on be it to us or not. We need to be heavy handed some of them are known for diving so I think we can get away wit some challenges if the ref is swayed by some early dive which there is sure to be. Without tryin to sound deluded I really see us going tru an I'm excited to see some reactions on this site some of our own fan right us of for no good reason at all. For F**k sake have some faith.

{Ed002's Note - Pogba was following advice provided by a couple of people - one of which, let's call him an "associate", manoeuvred the move to Turin. }
Wasn't Viera one of them? Probably all done and dusted around about the time he deliberately made the Scholes "desperation" comment. Besides Mino, pogba also had a couple of French agents who have a reputation for the way they conduct their business. Pogba will move between quite a few clubs between now and the end of his career, he'll be at Juve for 2 or 3 years then take your pick from both Milan's, Barca, city, Madrid, PSG, Chelsea and so on probably arriving at a few of those clubs at some point and only having negative things to say after he's gone. let's move on shall we. The best we could of hoped for was 2 or 3 years at best, he was never going to hang around.

----------

Possibly the best post on here for a while TK, summed up what I was saying, hart had a reputation as a top keeper, despite the fact he has been worse than DDG pretty much all season and the mistake today was 10 times worse and more obvious than any mistake DDG has made all season, but the commentators say it is totally out of character and how great Hart has been.

GDS

Believable11 Unbelievable1

I'm not entirely sure of the stats but I would bet that Joe Hart's mistakes, that have directly led to goals this season, have cost City more points than DDG's have cost United but of course the media won't report that, for reasons I'm yet to figure out. We just have to hope that DDG is being told the right things by SAF and that he doesn't get disheartened and decide to go back to Spain as I think, 5 years down the line, we would be talking about one that got away.

Kloot,

If you saw fergies press conference you would see that we are not putting our first team out tomorrow, like it or lump it I'm afraid. He is going to utilise the squad and make sure we have our best chance on Wednesday. If we get a point tomorrow and go 10 points clear and then go and get a draw in Madrid then I would be extremely happy with the result.

We can afford to lose tomorrow and still easily win the league, but we cannot afford to lose on Wednesday as we will not get through. I imagine your post is so that you can say 'I told you so'.

We must consider the Fellaini problem and how to deal with it which I'm sure is very prominent in SAF's thinking.
The attitude has to be spot on. We are Champions elect and we must attack them relentlessly and be clinical with our finishing.
We have to kill City psychologically. Time to be ruthless. Hope the crowd are really up for it. This is like a final.

I agree with Kloot, today's game against Everton is the important one and a chance to impose our authority on the league, to send a psychological message to City. Sadly I believe Ferguson, wrongly, will select a weakened side and try to scrape through the game today, which may mean a draw.

The league has to be our priority because until our central midfield is sorted out the CL is, I believe, beyond us.

Should we be so surprised by the City result. Southampton came to OT and gave us a football lesson. Tactically they were far superior to us and as I said then we should be looking at these young managers who have been managing in Spain. Look at some of the beatings we have had recently from Spanish teams. And we still stick with that cretin Phelan who just sits there looking gormless. Imagine if we got a good tactician as our no 2 we would stop inviting teams on. I AM KLOOT {Ed004's Note - What impresses me most about them is the way they press and harass teams. That's not the first time this season City have been played off a pitch though, Dortmund played the same way and City had no answer. Surely we should be trying to replicate this and trying to change our formation to suit this. I know Kagawa is capable of the high pressure but is Rooney? He isn't the fittest or the fastest so I am unsure if he would suit this style of play...}

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Lads let's not get ahead of our selfs here Southampton fair play to them have shown great displays as of late against top teams but they have also being easily beaten at time too. Just to comment on ed004's response. I think Rooney is much better at pressing than the much overrated kagawa, and he probably presses more than anyone in the team even though he is a striker.

EkD. {Ed004's Note - I'm not so sure and not sure why people call Kagawa over rated when he was instrumental in Dortmunds double last season and look how they are coping without him ATM}

and for RM:

Hey Zee, hopefully we ram home our advantage and put city under enormous pressure tomorrow. one thing's for sure though ;Hart's terrible performance (AGAIN) will receive nothing like the sort of media coverage that De Gea would get. Over the past couple of years I've seen a steady increase in what one could almost call resentment for Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. It's quite clear that the failure to reinforce the midfield has lead to frustration and that frustration has been leveled at these two. It's seems the growing opinion from the armchair punditry is that these two legends should of bowed out gracefully by now. The legends loitering serves only to tarnish their legacy and prevent the team from moving forward.

I think, in the end, it's all about how one frames the argument. For me, personally, here's how I like to look at it: They have given years of their lives for this club. showcased incredible talent and exhibited even greater character. The culmination of their toils has built them a legacy. And as the arduous road comes to an end these two legends offer one last sacrifice: Their legacy itself;they are willing to go out and give everything for the cause even though they can never reach their personal heights again. Even though some will blame them for preventing the natural and necessary progression. Even though they may not be remembered as fondly when it comes to an end.

And why do they do this? Because they love the game. because they love this club. And because they had one last sacrifice to make.

Will always be legends.

I don't think any disputes that they are legends, or love the club, or have given their all.

Scholes even was largely responsible for dragging us back into a title chase, but he should have re retired summer just gone.

Giggs has still shown in a couple of games like West Ham in the cup and Fulham in the cup what he can offer from out wide. But played centrally he has been poor. Again he needs to retire this summer.

Great servants but we cannot move forward and replace them unless they leave. If Ferguson cannot or will not see it then his hand needs to be forced instead of him using them as comfort blanket.

Morning Gents

Just wanted to refer some of you to an interesting article in one of the national newspapers today about Pogba. Interesting reading to those who think he was money grabbing.

Those like me who watched him play for our reserves could see he was ready yet Fergie preferred to resign Scholes than give him a run, leading him to realise he wasn't valued by Ferguson and had had promises broken.

I Love Fergie. but he got this one wrong, and we will end up paying the price. probably 20 million or more in the transfer market. I for one think this will be seen as his biggest mistake in the last/ next 10 years. When did Scholes himself, Beckham, Giggs make thir debuts, and more recently for other teams the likes of Bale and Wiltshire make their debuts.

It does seem as he has aged Fergie has lost his willingness to blood quality young players.

They also had been at the club for far longer than Pogba had. Scholes, Butt and the Nevilles were born in the greater Manchester area. Giggs had lived in Manchester most of his life. Being local they were more loyal. Beckham, Butt and the Nevilles grew up as United fans. Again it gave them loyalty. Pogba wasn't from Manchester. He wasn't a United fan. He had no loyalty to Le Havre so why should he have any loyalty to us? Maybe he should have played more last season. But his agent had already been playing up since summer. You've got a young impressionable player, who's already ditched one club as a teenager, with a greedy agent eyeing a big pay day in his ear constantly. The lad was always going to leave no matter what we did or offered because Pogba leaving suited the agent. End of the day he's gone, United remain as ever. We've survived better and more famous players leaving. We've survived managers going. And in this week of all weeks we've survived the loss of our greatest ever team. I'm sure it'll hurt you and many others watching Pogba go on to have a good career knowing he could have had a great one here. But we'll survive and go on its what we do, even if it does cost us twenty million. We have several potentially great kids working their way up. We have bigger things to worry about. So for once and for all can we leave Pogba in the past where he belongs and concentrate on the present and future. Leave the dwelling on the past to the scousers. MrE

GDS - that's my view as well, I think he was always going to go.

GDS and Mort are correct IMO. We can whine about it as much as we like (he is a top talent no doubt) but he was always leaving and the manager knew that full well. Regardless of whether it was over money or not. So people just need to get over it and move on.

Pogba was always going, he will be a journeyman in the Zlatan mould probably slating clubs after he leaves. No class.

Supasub

Supasub, correct mate. He will hop around club to club like Balotelli and Zlatan while his agent milks every last drop from him. This is Mino in a nutshell. Adebayor is a similar type, he too goes club to club collecting the dough. As soon as he moved to Spurs he stopped putting the effort in.

Ientioned it because it was in a national newspaper today. No need to jump down my throat. Also you dismiss my point saying only the player and or agent will ever know then go on to assert you 'know' his agent was touting him to other clubs.

Unless you work for one you don't know.

Can't you see the hypocrasy in that?

And Sydney you watch the reserves or I thought you did. To call him a journeyman player whilst talking up other youngsters in our reserves who weren't and aren't anywhere near to his quality is ridiculous.

I'm a passionate united fan but I don't let that make me myopic in how I view a player or other clubs.

It's what so many of us on here say about Liverpool fans. I thought better of most of you.

Red Bear {Ed002's Note - Pogba was following advice provided by a couple of people - one of which, let's call him an "associate", manoeuvred the move to Turin.}

Agree1 Disagree1

Red Bear, I am not sure what you are talking about? Pogba is a magnificent player, will be the best midfielder in the world within a few years. I said that when he was a United player and I have said that when not a United player.

I also agree that none of our academy have a patch on him. Januzaj is closest mind.

Agree Januzzaj looks good but. Personally think Dhaeli could be better.

Wilson up top also looks excellent. Even better than will keane.

Given football focus are doing an interview on SAF today, I was just wondering Fergie has won 46 tittles over the years, has anyone ever won more?

Anderson at the start of last season was playing well.

Carrick this season has had his best seaosn at United for years.

Wilshire the other night had his best gane this season.

Whats the connection?

They have all had Cleverley as a midifeld partner. Its no coincidence surely. Cleverley helps others to have good games by working hard and making space, always being available to take the ball and enabling players like Anderson or Wilshire to push on.

No the lads never going to be Messi, but he's had a good solid season. People moaned he doesn't pass forwards or score goals, but he's started doing this. I'm mot sure what else the guy needs to do to get his OWN clubs fans off his back.

Stoner you'd best hope that you guys win a trophy soon or Wenger is allowd to spend some money or ambition and playing for England with guys who win things is going to turn Jacks head.

Mort,

Nothing I think, want, post or any other will be a determening factor in what Jack does in his career.

There are any number of players that could do what Clevs does, it is what the others do that make them special. (I'm not slating Clevs just answering your point).
