Question for Eds/ Posters, what was the reason why Van Gaal had our team playing so brilliant against the top teams most games? Had a fantastic record vs top 6 in his two seasons here, now we just look toothless against these teams!

Which games did we play brilliant in Scholes, results were ok but performances were very rarely decent in my mind? I can only remember 3-4 games that I came away thinking 'we played well today' during his entire reign.

In my view Jose has shown far too much respect to the better teams and has been even more negative than LVG for the most part. Sometimes it works, but often it hasn't. LVG played the same way against every team, try and keep possession and side-side being better than forward passing. Jose is happy to concede possession, it's just that better teams punish you more than weaker teams and it's harder to retain the ball playing Jose's 'Hoof ball' against better opposition.

That's why I think we have struggled against the better teams. We do better against the weaker teams now because allowing them the ball means that when we turn it over there is a slight chance they are out of shape, rarely happened with LVG as we never moved forward quickly.

Both ways of playing are negative and boring, but Jose is slightly better at breaking down opponents because we forfeit the ball - football is worse though, rare we string more than a few incisive passes together and we go long far too much. Jose is predictable now too often and good managers can exploit that.

Brilliant in terms of getting the result vs the top teams (worded wrong in original post), not neccesarily the performances, beat the scousers in every single one of his league games, 4-2 win over city and beat them at the Etihad, convincingly beat Arsenal and Spurs on more than one occassion.

Its almost as if Jamie Redknapp wants Rashford to leave United. 🤔.

That's a relief, it seems these pundits are so sure when they offer an opinion and as soon as it doesn't happen, it's like they said nothing! There's no credibility in punditry these days.

Both useless pundits. They’d go down well on bt sports the minority of them lot are useless.

Even I'm my advancing Years it seems I'm learning and my big learn the last few weeks is that unless a sports headline either has united or Liverpool in the title papers just don't get sold .

So screw em all bring what you have (which is f##k all) .

We help lots of people as a club I don't suppose the gutter press should be any different.

Oh and to all of those on here who ate sick and tired of the awful, rehashed and sometimes downright untruthful news stories doing the rounds I suggest you read ed001 daily reviews I promise you will enjoy much more than the shite that we are forced to consume on a daily basis.

Despite our rising wage bill and the large amount being paid to Sanchez, which will in part be offset by Mhkitaryan's actual and Zlatan's imminent departure, it seems the total wage bill is still well below 50% of total sales/ revenues. The amount of revenue after deducting wages is more than £300m, which is more than the total revenue of all but 4 premier league teams. Most teams would be delighted with that. If Jose is truly intending to bring in only 2 or 3 new players in the summer then the healthy financial state we seem to be in seems set to continue - as long as we make top 3 or 4.

Add other potential departures on top too. Carrick will be retiring so can be added with Zlatan. Fellaini and Blind also likely to go. And I can see Smalling departing. All those would soak up 2-3 new arrivals.

Hi guys was wondering if I'm able to go to the training ground and get a couple of tops signed by 1 or 2 of your players I'm trying to raise money for my local football club in the North of Glasgow we are in a deprived area and unfortunately the price of Football is no longer cheap so was hoping to auction these at a speakers night we are holding. Any info regarding days or times would be a massive help.

Campsie. I suggest you seems the jersey and a letter to the club. Much better chance than getting into fort knox training ground. I've done that before and they returned the signed jersey to me.

I wrote to them last year my mrs was doing a charity auction for the Alzheimer’s association and they sent us a signed Zlatan shirt and they send the auction winner a letter of authenticity too, absolutely superb.

I echo the above and say write to the club. They have sent quite a few signed shirts and balls (all with authentication letters) for the charities i have been involved with.

Great post shappy

If we signed Veratti ( PSG need to sell to balance the books ), Jorginho and Kimmich then I for one would be very very happy. Thus also made sweeter with all the prospect of developing players in Chong, Gomes, TFM etc etc then we will soon be playing a youthful squad and no more OAPs.

Hey ed 2, not saying the Sanchez deal wasn't good business but have united fans on my back saying that the cost has already been repaid in shirt sales, but if I remember correctly, united get nothing off shirt sales, is this correct?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The money from shirt sales goes to the manufacturer, the distributor and the retailer, who can make extra adding numbers and names to the shirts. If the club are the retailer (club shop, club website etc.) then they get the retailers cut. The manufacturer (Adidas, Umbro, Nike etc.) pay the club an amount each year which allows them to manufacture and sell the shirts using the correct logos etc.. That is how they justify the money given to the club. So if you walk in to a high street store and buy a Liverpool or Arsenal shirt - nothing goes to the club. There are a few clubs that have negotiated different deals with manufacturers (Real Madrid with Adidas and Barcelona with Nike are the two obvious examples) based upon joint reselling ventures. So the income from shirts is fixed to the £xM or whatever Adidas, Nike etc. pay the club plus a small amount for reselling through the club retail outlets (shop, web).}

Great review Ed.
Agree that dumb of Allardyce to allow Hoolahan to go on loan. I think Allardyce will be negative for Everton and Everton will not improve. If anything I feel some of their good players might end up leaving the club.
Bellamy talking negative about Evra in West Ham? He should look into the mirror 🤣🤣. What has he won compared to Evra? At least West Ham still wants Evra for some reason. Who would want Bellamy? Used to be good but take note “used to”. He is a sad case.
rom Citeh👍. Pep only know how to criticize other player but not his own. What a blind and dumb baldy.
Porch getting under people’s skin talking about Rochdale pitch. Just shut up and go play. Setting up his excuse in case Spurs loses the game?
Thanks Ed for read. 🙏.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair to Bellamy he was just saying Evra's legs have gone like his did and he had to face retirement. I agree with him, Evra has been awful for years. Bellers retired a while ago mate, but he was much better than you are giving him credit for and he had the sense to retire when his legs went rather than carrying on for 3 more years and abusing his own teams fans when they pointed out he was stealing a wage.}

09 Feb 2018 09:25:09
Ok accepted 😉 with thanks.

{Ed001's Note - Evra is more interested in social media than football sadly. Cheers mate.}
