The metro is reporting that "Real Madrid have accepted a £150million bid for Gareth Bale from Manchester United" unconfirmed of course .hhaha 😂😂😂

Believable0 Unbelievable2

That's probably 2.5 times more than he's actually worth. Unless it's including his salary, agent fees etc. There's no way RM will make a profit on him. It will be a loss for sure if he's sold this summer.

Agree4 Disagree0

The figures being bandied about for footballers atm is ludicrous it's gone insane . I even saw a tweet earlier asking what Lee Trundle would be worth in this market with a genuine reply of £, 25million I think that says it all !!

Agree1 Disagree0

Only 150 :) that is such a bargain lol Not in our lifetime.

What is the situation with injuries?
LvG: “I’m very happy with your question because we have only one player injured. Can you believe it? Only one. I have to select for the first team in my career at Manchester United the eleven and the eighteen players.”

Believable0 Unbelievable0

mbd

Glad to hear that only ashley young is injured. I hope lvg scrap 3-5-2 soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

There will be a few who need to get match fit but it will be fascinating to see who LVG thinks is the 1st choices. Does he rate Shaw and Rafael? If the midfield is fit, do we continue to play Rooney and Mata bearing in mind Rooney is covering for injuries and also accommodating Falcao.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's wonderful news finally we may see the football we want to see and the manager will give those with doubts( and I count myself in that group) something to cheer about rather than gripe .

Agree0 Disagree0

I say sack LVT and bring Moyes back!!😁

This has nothing to do with transfer rumours at all.
I am just new to app development for android and would really like to start work on a project.
I want something Manchester United related to be my first project.
Could you guys provide me with any suggestions/ideas about it?
There must be something that is missing in the appstore's, I'd even be up for a fun app.
Please suggestions would be much appreciated. I'd like one from the ed's too, if it's possible.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

There are lots of apps with quizzes, team news and transfer rumours. Perhaps something like a post-game analysis app where fans can gather to discuss tactics, decisions etc.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jan 2015 11:58:10
How about a ratings and formations app? There are plenty of silly fans that give way to much credence to formations these days and Everyone fancies themselves as a Jose or pep.

U could work it so u set out a formation when teams are announced and then u follow it up with other people rating the players after a game?

Or just make it a stat based app, plenty of Americans love there stats and i'm sure would like to see chances created, miles run, passes made etc.

I should get paid for all these bloody ideas I give lol

09 Jan 2015 13:05:58
Like I said before, Chris. Where the hell, with a new baby, are you getting all this free time to think up this sort of stuff?

Agree2 Disagree0

Something with precise stats would be great Rohan, by the game and added for the season. For example shots on target this season compared to last season would be interesting.

Agree1 Disagree0

I really like the idea put forward by chris, everyone wants to draw their own formations. I will probably start with that and let you all know when I am done.
Post match analysis could be an added on feature.
But the statistics thing could be a bit difficult. AFAIK only opta and squawks keep stats of the game. And I really don't have any idea about the licenses of that data and stuff. It would be more complex too I imagine.
Maybe later.
Thanks everyone.

U could market it for the game day bloggers etc.

So when they are doing there post match blogs they can screen shot your app of the the players and formations and add a rating underneath from your app.

They would also want the ability to add and remove players and formations to I'm guessing to allow them to use your app for different topics and idea's.

Agree2 Disagree0

I would really appreciate an app that contains any information across the web that is trending on anything Utd from whichever site that might be.(Perhaps there could be tickbox for things of particular interest e.g. transfers, injuries, rumours etc.) At the moment I spend far too much time going from one site to another, to another.checking for updates. If I had an app that could do this for me I'd appreciate it. This probably already exists somewhere but I am the wrong side of 40 and technology moves a lot faster than I do:-)

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't believe no one has suggested a lvg v Moyes comparison app ;)

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jan 2015 16:46:06
I have a very understanding Mrs Stevie lol

That reminds me ED01, have to ever thought about making a vine page? people can load up vines they find amausing ? I'm guessing with copy right laws it couldn't be for match goals that day/s, maybe monitoring the content would prove to much work. On the plus side it might keep people a bit more away from twitter and that can be nothing but a good thing for Ed002's sanity :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't even know how to begin mate. I will speak to the other editors about it and see what they think of the idea.}

09 Jan 2015 19:21:25
How about a comparison app, one where people could find out the numbers of PL trophies won by crap players like say Ronnie Wallwork, and compare them with other players, just as an example Steven Gerrard?

My Friends around old Trafford Have said ever banega has been mentioned and could be one for the summer

Any updates On his situation ED would be grateful

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There is no "situation" - he has only just moved to Sevilla and Manchester Unite have shown no interest.}

09 Jan 2015 10:36:45
The literal translation of his name is John Kills. My girlfriend refers to him as Killer John.

Quality work by your girlfriend Andrew. My wife thought Banega was a type of fruit.

Professor Rob Wilson of the Sheffield Hallam Univeristy one of the most intelligent folk I have had the privilege of being in a lecture room with has stated that only Man Utd and R. Madrid have the financial capabilities in regards to the FFP regulations to sign Leo Messi. As Barcelona will want most (if not all) the cash upfront (as we demanded with Ronaldo) it rules almost every club out of a deal of this magnitude.

I am not saying for one minute that I would like to see us sign Messi as I don't, but the FFP regulations are making it tougher for clubs like City, PSG and Chelsea to buy whoever they like with their independent financial muscle. Having said that by ruling so many clubs out of this type of transfer could be a violation on a players right to gain employment elsewhere. Interesting to say the least.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

I doubt very much that FFP will fail on that basis.

I also doubt that any team can afford the sort of ridiculous money being talked about for Messi, irrespective of FFP.

Agree1 Disagree0

Shawing what do you mean by fail?

I think the FFP is fantastic for the game but alas in the modern footballing world some superstars are valued incredibly overpriced. Maybe a possible solution would be to implement a rule stating that a club can sign one player in the summer transfer window that is out of FFP conditions, much like the MLS have three mega players who don't count towards their salary cap. Just a thought.

Agree0 Disagree0

Putting FFP aside, the only clubs that could afford the figures being quoted are those backed by rich owners. In the EPL that would be Chelsea and City.

On a separate note, are Juanmatasbeard and Matasbeard the same person?

Agree1 Disagree0

Why would Barca want the money up front when they a re serving a transfer ban?
AJH,
I don't think so, didn't JuanMatasbeard say that he was a new poster here?

Agree0 Disagree0

mbd

And you said "not that you want Messi"??
Why wouldn't we want Messi at United? I will go to barca and carry him on my back to bring him here! !

Agree1 Disagree2

I had no idea there was another matasbeard, the guy obviously has good taste. But no I am a new poster and have been enjoying the insights of you lot.

AJH if you had 2 cars and were willing to sell your favourite one even though you had no intention of buying a new one for a while would you settle for monthly instalments from a prospective buyer? Plus these Barca instalments will be over the course of many moons not several months.

Nomidfield I am not saying Messi is not a fine player, he is the creme de la creme of football talent but the signature of Messi poses many problems. His transfer fee will be astronomical, his wages will obliterate our wage budget and most of all fitting him into our team will be incredibly difficult. The truth is Messi is all about Messi and Van Gaal is all about the team. He would cripple our finances, stagnate our youth development, possibly bring unwarranted media attention (tax scandal, team mates falling out, coaches not liking his selfishness) and may cause unrest amongst our squad.

He is a marvel of a player, mercurial and beautiful on the ball but he in my opinion would be troublesome for our current set up.

Agree5 Disagree1

At £170 million and probably £400k in wages per week I doubt that even we could afford him. We would have to have a massive clear out and have a very small squad indeed to lower the wage bill to as little as possible.

It will never happen.

Agree2 Disagree0

And I pray it doesn't for those reasons Fresh.

Agree2 Disagree0

I disagree that we would struggle to fit him in. He would be our central striker and Rooney would move to an attacking midfielder. So that wouldn't be a problem. His arrival could cause problems though, mainly money problems. The lads would welcome him though as I can't see players like Rooney etc not wanting to play with Messi.

Agree0 Disagree2

09 Jan 2015 14:09:09
Messi would be lost playing as a central striker in the Prem.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jan 2015 14:35:01
Given our clubs fan base and commercial revenues I don't believe accommodating messi would be that problematic. I suspect we would simply give him a larger share of his image rights.

If you believe the media, ronaldo's shirt sale have paid his transfer fee and wages several times over since he signed for Madrid.

I also believe messi would insist on the bal being played forward quicker which I think we would all agree we need to do. He also has the ability to break down the load the box defensive teams we have struggled against so far this season.

Do I think he is worth the money being mentioned? No

Do I think we will sign him? Never

Agree0 Disagree0

What I meant by "fail" is to be found o be contrary to the law and therefore invalid.

FFP is great if it helps prevent bankruptcies by overspending on players, but for the most part, at the moment, all it does is shift the balance of transfer power back to clubs with higher natural revenues and away from those who have bigger sugar daddies. i.e back to United, Real, Barcelona, and Bayern, and away from PSG, Monaco, City and to a lesser extent now, Chelsea.

It really isn't doing or going to do anything to promote equality between teams, or break the oligopoly of success.
