In their prime. Robson or Keane?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Robson

Agree0 Disagree0

Without a shadow of a doubt robson!

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't get to see Robson in his prime unfortunately, by the sounds of it I would have loved him as a player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably Robson . Saw him make his debut at main road against that lot! Carried us for years! Keane was fantastic too but played in a better side.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 03:25:47
Keane.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 05:38:20
Robson hands down, as good as Keane was, Robson had it all, lucky enough to see both in their prime

Agree0 Disagree0

Keano, all day long

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 07:32:30
Robson without question. Keane was a great player but had some great peers around him. Robson would have walked into any other side in his prime he was that good.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it would have to be Robson he was a talisman for us when he played and would of give blood sweat and tears for us no matter what

Agree0 Disagree0

I just can't pick a player probably for obivous reasons i'd pick Keane but Robson had a little more creativity Keane was a Vidal where Robson was a Modric type player if you want it in todays player terms

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 23:08:14
Shame about garay all tournament he's been absolute solid and it's really p. sing me off that the commentators keep harping on about vlaar and dimechellas.

The thing that's really p. sing me off though is kuyt, he's not just cutting back like a normal person where you'd be square he's getting the ball and turning to face his own goal and running towards it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2014 23:07:23
Throughout this tournament I've become quite the fan of de vrij, others have performed on occasion but my personal favourite is de vrij. Is there any interest eds?

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mascherano has been the player of the tournament for me

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 23:55:28
Best Keeper: Navas
Best Defender: Vlaar/Hummels
Best Midfielder: Kroos
Best Forward: James

Agree0 Disagree0

On a side note u read today Navas was on the verge of singing for Bayern

Agree0 Disagree0

I didn't necessarily mean player of the tournament just that I was impressed by de vrij. Tournament wise I'd have to say perhaps muller or james!

Agree0 Disagree0

Keeper - Neuer
Defender - Hummels
Midfielder - Mascherano
Att Mid - Robben
Striker - None - they have all looked pretty poor and isolated.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 22:15:11
I honestly think we should look a lot closer to home regarding signing a particular attacking midfielder who plays for everton, I would love us to sign ross barkley, who is possibly the new paul gascoigne, he has so much similarities to gazza & if he becomes anywhere near as good as gazza he'll be one helluva signing for us, I'm old enough to know we should have signed gazza years ago from newcastle before spurs, in actual fact gazza admitted he should have signed for man utd when he had the chance, sir alex also said his biggest regret at man utd was not signing gascoigne, so lvg go get barkley

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have to many attacking midfielders we need wingers. Ross Barkley has potential but at the minute we need class players for me he runs round aimlessly a lot at the minute but he could be a world beater but I honestly can't see him hitting the dizzy heights that people expect.

Agree0 Disagree0

Were would you play him and who would you sacrifice, I love barkely but we are well stocked in his position

Agree0 Disagree0

He's a good player but he'll never be as good as Gazza. Gazza's genius was in his pure natural ability and God given talent that didn't need to be nurtured. It was mental problems that stopped Gazza fulfilling his potential.

Barkley has a bit of that natural talent, he has Gazza's fearlessness, but he isn't even close to the level of ability Gazza had imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 23:17:40
Where would he play for us?

Agree0 Disagree0

Gazza was the best english footballer I've ever seen.
At newcastle he was amazing every time I think about it i'm gutted he went to spurs

Agree0 Disagree0

Bilko
Play him in the 8 role box to box but can also beat a player and pull a pass a bit like gazza

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 09:17:15
Jred

Where does Herrera play then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bilko
Imo that's his best position but don't worry I don't think we are going to sign him.
we seem to have a big interest in vidal who is also a box to box 8 .
where does herrera play then?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 21:09:36
is just me or am I right to worry over cb situation I have heard interest in hummel ect but no one has signed is any interest which would will turn one of them playing for utd

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would really start to worry if I was you, we haven't signed anyone for 2 weeks even with the world cup going on and players that we might be looking at signing still playing. LVG OUT! Someone get a plane to fly over Old Trafford already! Honestly

Agree0 Disagree0

Just reading the general opinion of Patrice Evra leaving, most are sad he's going due to his contribution but glad due to his decline recently. Some described him as a legend.

Now, I hear the term "legend" being used a lot to describe past players of ours, far too often in my opinion. For me, Evra is in a category just below being a legend.

So who from our history do people think are the true legends?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Charlton, Best, Robson, Cantona, Giggs, Scholes, Neville, etc

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 20:49:32
Where would u say Rooney is in his career believe? Upwards or downwards?

Oh no what have I just done ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ole gunnar solskjaer

Agree0 Disagree0

Rooney would be in the same category as Evra in United's history imo, CTR.

Legends for me would be;

Best
Cantona
Charlton
Ferdinand
Giggs
Keane
Law
G.Neville
Robson
Ronaldo
Scholes

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 21:18:41
Ahhh dave a man after my own heart!! I loved that bloke true gentleman and gave us such great service! They dnt come much better

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he only had 3 seasons with us but for me, Stam was a legend I think we won 3 leagues and a champions league while he was there! Absolute beast

Agree0 Disagree0

CTR, Rooney is not a legend. He is over rated and we should sell him asap. RVP is a better no.9 and Mata is a better no.10
Rooney is past his best and has been in decline for years. He peaked early like Michael Owen. He has also held the club to ransom. Twice! He is rubbish and should never wear the shirt again. Especially now its likely to be an Adidas one. So there.

Agree0 Disagree0

Very naughty ctr, very naughty lol :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Best, charlton, law, cantona, giggs, schmeichel, becks, scholes, g.nev, keane, solskjaer, robson

For me legend has to be somebody that fans well after they have stopped playing for the club kno about. For example I wasnt alive to see the likes of the holy trinity. But I kno how important they were for the club, and there stories are still told

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Evra isn't a legend. I would describe him as more of a true servant. A very good player who gave is all and will always be welcome back at OT but not the best of the best (Irwin was a better left back imo).

Robson or Cantona are the clubs true legends that I have seen.

If you asked a non-believer, I guess they would all say Moyes!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry, I forgot Schmeichel.

I would say if Rooney goes on to beat SBC's goalscoring record then he will cement himself as a legend. He has contributed massively to one of the most successful periods in the club's history.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 21:59:40
Beast listing them from A-Z either very organised or copy and paste I feel. Legend is banded around far too often I feel.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 22:14:30
Legendary Left back would be Mr. Denis Irwin. Just ask Sir Alex if you don't believe me!

Agree0 Disagree0

"Legend" is open to interpretation. It really only means " an extremely famous or notorious person, usually in a particular field". To those already mentioned, I think you can add Duncan Edwards, Mark Hughes, Denis Irwin. There are literally loads. From a personal point of view, this king back to my childhood, I would definitely add Jesper Olsen and Norman Whiteside. I was only a young transfer, but I loved the 80's :)

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 22:43:35
Betty,

I was just about to say looking at domi b's description of legend I think Edwards has to be on there, I've heard so much about him and anyone who saw him play only has amazing things to say about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Transfer? lol. Should be teenager

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Jrobbm, but Believe is aka Mr. Organised. I think Keane, Robson, Eric and Giggs are the 4 real legends since the 70's.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think you meant me who was listing them A-Z, and they certainly weren't copy and pasted (who would do that haha). I am just a bit weird like that!

Agree0 Disagree0

No mention of Nemaja or Rio? Best centre back partnership the prems ever seen.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2014 09:12:38
great call Betty Jesper Olsen was the reason I fell in love with United and football in general.
I loved Brucey and Pally too great great players,a little debate like this shows you how lucky we have all been over the years to witness some truly amazing players

Agree0 Disagree0

Only 1 person has mentioned Duncan Edwards. Bobby Charlton once remarked that everything he could do well, duncan edwards could do better. the 1 player he said that he felt totally inferior to.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Martin Buchan would be in there for me fantastic defender and captain during the non successful days apart from 3 cup finals and was at the club 10 - 11 years . Also Alex Stepney has a shout too. I think anyone who has been at the club a number of years and given their all is a legend whether they have played in a successful side or not .

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 20:01:37
So Evra is off to Juventus, good luck to him because no matter what people might think he always gave 100%. Anyway I am hoping that the rumours that SAF said we were working on bringing somebody back to OT are true, maybe Evra is a sweetener for Pogba, or is it (please please please ) Ronaldo. Maybe now Fergie is gone it could be Tevez. Personally I would love to see Vidal but I think he may go to a Champs league side, probably Madrid, Barca, Bayern or even city who might have to replace Toure. Hopefully 1 more quality C/M & an experienced C/H to play alongside Evans or Jones ( sorry don't rate Smalling ) & we should be ready for next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2014 20:54:39
Aren't the quotes fake from SAF?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 21:25:39
Unfortunately for Pat, the spirit has been strong but the body has been getting weaker.

Genuinely sad to see him go. If every player had his attitude to playing for Utd, we'd be alright.

Hopefully playing in the slower Italian league, will suit him better at this stage of his career, and he can get a couple of more years.

I know his deficiencies over the last few seasons, but I'll really miss the guy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think I'll miss Pat too. Wholehearted and played with childlike enthusiasm (forgetting his position) and no one will ever accuse him of not giving his all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, massive respect for Evra. MUFC through and through, shame he didn't get a proper sendoff from the fans. I also respect his desire to play instead of warming a bench and getting a payday.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 19:35:01
Things do seam quiet on the united front. but they are working very hard behind the scenes. Could be in for a very exciting couple of weeks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Make your mind up, the other day you said there was little going on behind the scenes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Carloto,, all I will say is united are working very hard. I never really wanted to post alt about it because of how quick things change and at the risk of looking silly. But united are working hard for DI Maria (we had a 40 mill bid rejected) hummels and Vidal

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 19:06:29
If we only end up with the two signings already done I don't think it will be enough to let woodenhead off the hook because it is obvious LVG wants more. We have bought a player we should have signed last year and wanted to come so not that hard to get done and a left back who despite showing great potential no one else wanted pay that amount for. Not to worry I am sure the shirt deal will be completed soon!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

09 Jul 2014 18:49:22
Patrice evra is expected to join juventus in the next 24 hours

Sad to see him go didn't have the best of seasons but his love for the club will never be forgotten a true united legend

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think 'Legend' is taking it a few steps too far, but up until a few seasons ago, he was a very good player for us and along with Giggs, Vidic and Rio, it makes it a sad but exciting summer. All needed to move on and thankfully they have, but I'm glad we have had them at our club and wish them all well.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 16:47:37
1st time post hi all. anyone have an update on anderson being sold as I thought he was on loan with the option?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think Fiorentina wanted to take the option.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was on loan and they took the option to send him back.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the club who offers the most free meals will get him.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was on an option-to-buy for Fiorentina but they can obviously see what everyone else can so they haven't gone for him

Most certainly for sale but no-one wants him unfortunately for us, just let the contract run down I think

Agree0 Disagree0

He is on about £4m a year and is contracted until next summer, best off paying him off and giving his place to a youngster for the season, we won't get anything from him anyway the fat, useless lump.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 16:29:46
Is it possible that united still has out right chance to sign kroos after so much progress over talks in march-april?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What do you base your information that there was progress in March on?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 15:09:22
"Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Angel Di Maria and Mats Hummels as part of a stunning £75million double deal.

United have ramped up their transfer activity in the last two weeks, with new manager Louis van Gaal directing operations despite being at the World Cup in Brazil.

Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera are already on board and now the Gu@rdian reports that Di Maria and Hummels could be next through the door.

Di Maria has apparently asked to leave Real Madrid this summer and despite interest from PSG, United are pushing to close a £45million deal for the winger."

Read this on one of the sites lately, don't know how much of this is true but both will be a very good addition to our current squad.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That would top us up nicely. Hummels in our back line would add so much and Di Maria would give us that pace that we are so desperately lacking. Even if we didn't get Vidal I'd be delighted with a summer of Shaw, Hummels, Herrera and Di Maria.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - then probably Strootman in January}

Source - Metro not exactly reliable. They make up a story every day about us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id prefer Vidal anf Hummels as I don't rate Di Maria at all, he's just a little more consistent then Nani so its a lot of money to be spending on him .

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd prefer big money be spent on Hummels & Vidal. Our weakest area in the big games last season was our midfield, Herrera may be a great signing but he won't fix all our problems alone.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Di Maria is £45m then Vidal must surely be circa £65m?
Patrick

Agree0 Disagree0

Di maria of to psg

In previous seasons there has been rumours of MU making a bid for Khedira, and after watching him in this World Cup he seems to be proving his quality. Was there a reason that the bid/bids were rejected or was it just media hype?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Proving his quality?! He's had one okay game and that was last night! I hope to god we don't go for him, swept up in the hype of young German players a few years ago and imo, is just another Fellaini without any attacking intent

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed Bennett - Anybody would have looked good in that German midfield last night. He always looks uncomfortable on the ball, like he hasn't ever got it under control, plus he takes an age to get up to a sprint. Wimp as well.

Decent player in some ways, but not what we need to push on, glorified Fletcher.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 14:28:02
I have noticed.alot of fans have excluded powell fr next seasons plans.
Hes a top class young player, expect him.to be a very good player hopefully in a different shirt ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How can you call someone a top class young player when all he's done is destroy league 2 with crew and have nothing more than a decent season with wigan in the championship? he needs to prove himself in the premier league until we can start banding him top class.

Agree0 Disagree0

Powell is very over rated and when people are talking about buying players like Vidal and Chelsea are buying Fabregas and arsenal are buying Sanchez its time to wake up and see if you want Utd to return to where we belong we have to look at a much higher level than Powell. He is not Utd quality its so obvious I don't see what people are seeing in him!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 17:13:03
wow fess and u have come to this conclusion how? nice to see u giving a young just turned 20 yr old the chance to prove his worth!

Honestly some ppl!

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Chris every time I have seen him he has been distinctly average. His age doesn't make it any better remember rooney, giggs, scholes at 20? isn't james rodriguez jus 2years older than him are you telling me Powell is actually Utd class or will ever be what do others think?

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 19:10:19
im not suggesting at all that he will reach that level but not many will! I was merely pointing out a lad of 20 deserves our support and if u dnt believe this then afraid u have forgotten what our club is and always has been about!

Scholes was in his early to mid 20's before he was a regular starter in our team and as for Rooney Giggs etc where exactly do u think they would be right now if they got the support u are offering them like Powell?

Agree0 Disagree0

If the day ever comes where we have a team full of foreign mercenaries I will sadly not watch us again.powell has bags of potential he needs some stability and opportunitys, he might not make it but that day hasn't arrived yet

Agree0 Disagree0

I do agree that we should continue giving him a chance after all it is the Utd way and I wish he turns out as good as some here suggest. On another note as long as the badge says Manchester United should it matter if the player in the shirt is from the British isles.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 21:30:33
Totally agree, Chris and John. I love people writing off our players before their careers with us have even begun.

Fess - you may not mind having a team of foreigners like Arsenal on occasion, but I think many will feel an English, or at least British presence, is an advantage to any top English team. Ditto in any of the other top leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Stevie do you think fans will celebrate their trophies any less if their team is full of non home based players? Course they wouldn't all that matters is the result at the end anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. Its just a romantic notion to think we should win with British based players. We celebrated Cantona and Ronaldo as much as Giggs and Scholes its just double standards

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 14:22:39
Liverpool's Warrior - £25m a season.

Arsenal's Puma - £30m a season.

Man City's Nike - £12m a season.

Real Madrid's Adidas - £30m a season.

Man United's Adidas - £75m a season.

Crazy money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It does seem a bizarre amount of money. Just shows our pull though. Real Madrid will probably overtake us as adidas' number one club whenever they are due to re-negotiate their deal though.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 16:48:24
Has this deal been confirmed syd because I can't see it anywhere or see adidas paying that type of money tbh

Agree0 Disagree0

CTR, not confirmed yet.

Believe, Real Madrid's deal is only two years old. It runs until 2020.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 18:09:12
Dysney!,

What happened to the Billion £ Nike deal you were spouting off about, went the way of all the other waffle that just falls out of your cake hole.

See one of your Oppo's is saying you're now going to win the league by 5 points.

Seems like Dysney! dreamers desease is contagious.

Agree0 Disagree0

That's if it was another 14 year deal like the current one. This will be a ten year deal. It's actually more than I expected if the numbers are accurate.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 20:52:20

Who would you guys rather see developed next season?

James Wilson
Jesse Lingard
Nick Powell
Wilfred Zaha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm always hesitant about developing young players. We all wanted Anderson to develop, for example. But nobody realised that he would actually develop into a fine young woman with heaving bosoms.

Agree0 Disagree0

Powell and Wilson for sure. I don't like using comparisons with youth players, but every time i've seen Powell play in a slightly deeper role than he was at CA his movement just reminds me of Scholes. His vision isn't as good I don't think, but where he gets himself is almost a mirror image.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wilson and Powell. I think Zaha and Lingard could be sold.

Agree0 Disagree0

Easy decision, james wison, not only man utds future number 9 but englands too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nick Powell, top quality player, shame we have an abundance of players in his position.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully we can add Henriquez to that list. Janko and/or Varela also.

I have a quick question for everyone:

What are your realistic expectations for Man United next season? Top 4? League title? Cup winners?

Obviously it is easy for people to tie emotions to their expectations so I can see why people may want United to go for the title but is that realistic? I personally believe United should focus on getting back into the top 4 and going on a good FA cup run. This will help build stability and calm nerves of fans as well as attracting world class players with Champions League football next year.

I want United to win the title but realistically they won't. Here's to hoping though ;)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

3rd is a realistic goal I reckon

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting back in the top 4 is very realistic, the biggest test will be if a few players are moved out and more players are to be brought in getting them to settle quick.
I think 3rd place and a good cup run is to be expected.

Agree0 Disagree0

It depends on who we sign.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 13:25:28
4th minimum target plus signs of improvement on the pitch. I would aim for 3rd though and automatic qualification. Anything above 3rd is a bonus, below 4th a failure.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 13:25:31
4th minimum target plus signs of improvement on the pitch. I would aim for 3rd though and automatic qualification. Anything above 3rd is a bonus, below 4th a failure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Win the league of course, were man utd

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 13:40:56
I agree, realistically as it stands I think we will be challenging for top 4 but that is about it. If we sign 2 or 3 top players in the positions we need and ship a few of the deadwood out I would think we can challenge for the title, but would be happy with a 3rd place and a cup then go again next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

A football club the size of ours should never be contemplating finishing JUST in the top 3 or 4, we are manchester utd & our aim IS and always should be to win the premiership title, no other negative thoughts are good enough, I'm expecting my club, the famous manchester utd to win the league, end of story!

Agree0 Disagree0

We should win the league. If LVG is half as good as people make out he is and with us strengthening massively on the squad that walked the league 12/13 season, and no Europe to contend with, then it should be ours for the taking.

The players all had a season of taking it easy so that should help as well. haha.

We need a solid CB though for us to do it as Vidic & Rio are big misses from the 12/13 season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Realisticly 3-4 if we have a good run 2 hopefully

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 15:31:54
Good to see people ignoring the OP and using the emotion of being a United fan.

To the people who said we should be aiming for the league because we are Manchester United, that is just a ridiculous thing to say, you know we didn't win the league for 26 years before 1993? Or were you not a fan then?

The aim for every team starting the season should be to try and win every game and then win the league, that will be the aim of the players, but the OP asked where we REALISTICALLY think we will finish in the league this season. So a response of 'we are Manchester United so we will win the league' is a little simplistic.

Trust me guys, the regulars on this site will inform you I am Mr optimistic on here, but I think we need to be realistic with our expectations.

Agree0 Disagree0

What about my rationale for winning the league GDS2 - I don't think you can question any of those points I make?

Furthermore City look a bit unsettled, Chelsea have a new cart horse and lose some crucial experience. Liverpool have Europe and lose their star man, Arsenal will look good, but always vulnerable defensively and could be our major threat.

Utd
Arsenal
Chelsea
City

In that order.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for being one of the only people to properly read my post GDS2 :)

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say a comfortable top 4 finish, with a good F.A. cup run. maybe Quarter Final. We have the ability in the squad to challenge for the title, as well as the tactical nous and confidence of van Gaal, but I think this season should be more about achieving a respectable position with some good attacking displays, as well as letting the squad gel.

Agree0 Disagree0

We are Manchester United, we should be aiming to win every game, in every competition we enter. Taking into consideration the squad we have, the performances of last season, the new manager who will have a settling in period and the new signings with hopefully more to come, I'd be happy with a top three finish. I'd also be looking for us to win at least one of the two cup competitions.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2014 17:12:05
Beast,

Sorry mate my post wasn't aimed at you, you explained your points and your reasoning why you think we will win the league wasn't 'because we are Manchester United'.

I actually agree with your post, we can certainly challenge for the title, I think it depends how quickly LVG can get the players adapting to his style and also how quickly we can forget last season. For example if we draw the first 2 games will it all suddenly fall apart or will the players play for LVG and work hard. Hopefully last season won't be playing on their minds as it is for most fans.

But I think realistically I would be happy with top 3 and a cup run, hopefully a cup final and a trophy.

Agree0 Disagree0

In answer to your question 'what are your realistic expectations'
I expect to win the league and FA cup.
These are MY expectations and it doesn't matter if they don't match yours.

Hope all is well.
Just a quick straight forward one from me today, in your opinion will we sign Mr Vidal from Juvè this Summer?

Thanks as always,

Thanks guys

{Ed002's Note - I doubt blind would want that.}

Well according to Wenger Arsenal will have the sanchez deal all done by tomorrow. Will this effect our move for Vidal? Eds any info?

{Ed002's Note - What?}

002, with Nike out of the running, do you think the manufacturing sponsor will go to Adidas, Warrior or somebody else? Also, will it be as close to the £60m per ear as reports are stating?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in discussing money.}

I hope its a recognised brand, Addidas would be my choice. They already have Madrid and Bayern.

David luiz 50 million. Thank you PSG for ruining football. And I'm not just basing that on tonight he is always shocking defensively he's like a worse cb version of evra. On a united note why on earth did we not wrap up kroos when we had the chance. Also does anyone know If we even tried for Sanchez?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think we did try for Kroos and failed - he choose BM and then RM came knocking who he couldn't turn down.

I read van gaal pulled the plug on it.

So, the very real possibility of a Germany/Argentina final.

Just wondering who my English cousins want to win that one :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I want Holland to win it, otherwise Germany. Got a few friends from both so I'd be happy for them.

Argentina were always, apart from, for obvious reasons, a few years in the early 80s, my favourite foreign team, as the '78 WC was the first I watched.

But I always loved the Dutch too - such a great team around that time. Should really have won a WC in that era.

Really can't decide between them.

But definitely not the Germans :)

{Ed003's Note - I remember seeing the WC highlights of '78 and just remember the Kempes goal and ticker tape oh and highlights of Ally's army ( don't mention this to 007) }

Ed003, my Scottish princess says she will hunt you down, mate, if you EVER mention Ally's Army again.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - awwww that's sweet, calling Ed007 your Scottish princess. I am sure she will love that!}

Germany then Holland for me as Germany were my choice well before the world cup started and lumped on them at 10's so I'll be having a Stein of the good stuff and a Bratwurst if they do it :-)

Blood money, Brendan! Remember the war!!

Agree0 Disagree0

What better way for van Gaal to come in as World Cup winning manager when everyone had written them off?

Agree0 Disagree0

If we’re remembering the war that’s Argentina out as well Steve.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha nice one Stevie :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Dutch all the way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Holland r the reason I came to know about football been supporting them since 1998. This is perhaps the least talented team but a bunch of hard workers. May the best team win.

I know, Carloto, that's why I fell out with them for a few years in the early 80s :) But the flippin Germans did it twice!

Im seeing surprisingly short odds (6/4) for Theo Walcott to move to United. Not heard anything of this before, is this just based on wild rumours or is there something more?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully wild rumours. He's rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

Should be a sprinter, not a footballer. Awful move, will never happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rather Nani.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's purely based on the fact that Arsenal are signing Sanchez and people putting 2+2 together and making 5. I do wonder where Wenger will fit them both in the side unless one if them switches to the left.
