Considering our coach is completely delusional and that he is close to becoming as big an embarrassment to the club as ole was, what are people thoughts on his successor.
Eth is as good as gone. There is zero hope for him. Complete ostrich with his head in the sand.
No candidate is perfect as far as I'm concerned
They will reach have some baggage or professional trauma behind them.
For me the key is the ability the new guy has with working our new dof and team.
Alignment there from the start is a must, so it will be interesting to see what they decide.
Potter
De zerbi
Tuchel
Conte
These are the 3 names I suspect it will come down to. Although ed002 had a few other names on the list but I think a couple of them are going elsewhere.
Can't wait for a change of direction led from the top down.

04 Mar 2024 10:51:06
So which are the three and which is the extra? ???.

04 Mar 2024 11:21:50
I suspect an outsider. I have no grounds for that of course!

I just hope it’s someone with some balls.

04 Mar 2024 11:33:39
ETH is not delusional, he did very well in his first season and has been unfortunate with injuries this season.

Also had to deal with the partial sale process throughout his whole tenure and subpar recruitment (which is party his fault no doubt but not helped by murtough and arnold in the first summer) .

I would like to see Tuchel come in as he is better with the media and man manager than ETH but wouldn't be against ETH staying for a third season.

04 Mar 2024 11:57:08
I don’t think there is an outstanding candidate but the one who I definitely don’t want is Potter

He would be chewed up and spat out within 12 months

If he thought Chelsea was a goldfish bowl it ain’t nothing compared to Utd

My choice would be either Amorim or Simeone.

04 Mar 2024 11:58:39
Agree with both sides really. he's had so much to deal with in terms of disruption and injuries. I genuinely don't think many could have done much more. He dealt with Ronaldo and Sancho pretty swiftly. It's obvious we needed a LB and CF, he'll know that more than anyone, but the club haven't obliged. Guess they're waiting for summer.
And yet it is a results game, and 11 defeats, many at home to frankly sides we would expect something against, is appalling. Some pretty underwhelming sides have literally taken us apart, particularly in midfield. I dread to think where we'd be if not for the emergence of Mainoo.
But, because it's fun to play along, why not.

Potter - really underwhelmed by this possibility based on the only two things we can go on - the Brighton era and the Chelsea one. How much did the brilliant background set-up of Brighton assist him, and how much did the woeful Chelsea one hinder him? How many in-game tactical moments of genius can I remember from Potter? Dunno if he's the man.
De zerbi - love this guy, although for all the brilliant results they've had a few shockers themselves.
Tuchel and Conte both scare me and are hot-headed. Just like everywhere else they've ever been, and just as with Mourinho, I'm pretty sure that after an initial bounce it'd go sour at some point.
Think Nagelsmann has to be in the chat. Available and (prior to EtH) seen as one of the best up and coming managers about not so long ago.
Amorim - don't know much about this chap but keeps coming up.

04 Mar 2024 12:26:07
ETH does not help himself and comes across as delusional. I almost feel sorry for him.

“Rashy was dangerous” When? Watching a different game to most people pal.

“We were close to winning” Never in a month of Sundays. Nobody realistically expected to win that one.

“We are up for this game. I can smell it” What happened? Set up to defend and hope for the breaks against the best team in world at the moment. Was never going to work.

He asked Rashy if he had been touched! Seriously! He should have been tearing him a new one for being so soft and losing possession so far up the park when 1:1

Sadly I am now officially on the ETH out bandwagon. Clearly very much out of his depth.

Yes yes we have injuries galore, but there are teams out there with lesser players than our fringe players that have given City a better game and beaten us.

It comes down to heart and desire to play for the shirt and not the money.

Very frustrating year indeed! Do I know the answer? Not at all. I am only an idiot fan but I have seen enough to know it ain’t going to be right with ETH here.

04 Mar 2024 14:02:09
Could very well be Potter because clearly liked by SJR and perhaps he thinks they can build just as good as team that was at Brighton and all work in Tandem, I would not judge anything on the Chelsea fiasco, would he be my choice, no, but least he will try play better football that’s more suited to EPL. and got to be a better man manager.

Hansi Flick would still be my choice, but looks like he heading elsewhere and don’t think he will suit the SJR way anyway, same as Simeone won’t, so can’t see neither of them.

Nagglesman, if your judging potter by Chelsea stint you have to judge Nagglesman by Munich stint, upset everybody, but like I said before too much
interference for anyone at Bayern.

Wild card could well be Ange from Tottenham, no doubting his ability as man manager and plays football the fans love and appears loved by everyone too….

For me anyone but ETH. For reasons I been saying for months and months.

Just hope it’s joined up thinking and a good management team is built. Plus att the coaches go, because they are not part of any solution and certainly not blameless in the fiasco we been watching.

04 Mar 2024 14:07:58
Potter, Nagelsmann or maybe Amorim?

04 Mar 2024 14:30:11
We were winning for a large part of the game.

Rash should have done better with 2 other golden chances in first 20 mins. And yes. Haaland missed 1.

Pull back on Rashford, not given. Other similar fouls given in game.

Ederson challenge is a stone wall penalty, borderline redcard.

We got beat by a better side. But going in on ten hag after that game is a little silly in my eyes. Rash was injured had to come off. Evans injured had to come off. We had nothing left on the bench to do anything. No striker, no leftback.

This squad is miles off that city team and we made a game of it. We still need to empty out the older players from this squad and start again around our younger players. Years time we are competitive again. If anyone thinks we get better by bringing in a new manager, unless you clear the players we will just delay how long it takes to get back to the top.

04 Mar 2024 14:42:58
Big Sam. He’s not the hero we need, but he’s the hero we deserve.

04 Mar 2024 14:11:32
He is delusional dsg.
Have you been listening to him? Have you read his comments on rashford? On Antony? On how close we are to city?
Reminds me of ole.

04 Mar 2024 15:33:04
Strangeways - I get your points, but is it fair to give Potter a free pass at Chelsea because of the turmoil there at the time, but not allow ten Hag a fair crack of the whip when/ if things stabilise at Utd?

04 Mar 2024 16:01:03
One thing forgot to add spenno, a lot of the turmoil is of ETH own making….

04 Mar 2024 16:05:06
Spenno do you think we will get a manager that's not failed anywhere?

04 Mar 2024 16:42:31
Is there such a thing Tumble, Pep or Klopp aside?

04 Mar 2024 16:55:40
It is not out of the realms of possibility that we bring in someone out of left field with the new leadership group making the decisions. I am not sure what manager connections there are to City which Berrada may bring to the table, similarly with Ashworth should he come in (consensus is he likes Potter but this is heresay) .
I hope we are planning for the next move now and starting to have the relevant conversations if possible with managers. With the scousers, Barcelona, Bayern, possibly Newcastle on the look out it could be very competitive.

{Ed002's Note - Ashworth is very close to Potter, but he is not the recommendation of Ashworth.}

04 Mar 2024 16:58:58
What turmoil is that then Strangeways?

04 Mar 2024 17:12:02
How is ten hag responsible for the turmoil?

Does everyone on here want the players to run the club? Train when they want to. Turn up when they want to?

04 Mar 2024 17:14:13
You could bring in pep or anyone else and soon as we have a couple of bad results certain idiots on here will be calling for a change and criticising his every move ???.

04 Mar 2024 17:27:26
I thought klopp got relegated in Germany I could be wrong.
But that's my point spenno no matter who we go for there will be a bit on their copy book.
Some will point to potters failure at Chelsea
Or tuchel at bayern
Or conte at spurs
Etc etc
We just have to trust the judgement of sjr and team.
That's probably easier than trusting the failed judgements of woodward murtagh and Co.
Unless we appoint pep we won't get 100% agreement on anybody.
I don't care who it is at all to be honest I really don't. I'll trust the judgement of the management and as long as we see steady progression I'll be fully onboard.
Hope is all we have as supporters imo. So I'll I'm hoping for is to see steady sustainable improvements.

04 Mar 2024 17:36:13
Inzaghi from Inter. Plays 3-5-2. Dalot would fit nicely into his system. We’d still need a striker and a left wingback but it would rid our team of the likes of Rashford, Antony and our other incompetent wide players.

Maybe even Maguire would look better in a 3 alongside Martinez and Varane.

04 Mar 2024 19:26:13
I'd be pretty annoyed if we hired Conte or Tuchel, both have a habit of rubbing people up the wrong way and causing unrest at a club.

Tuchel's style of play would be a better fit than Conte's.

But I'm not sure either would really want the job. A 3-5 year project to turn the side around before realistically challenging for major honours and what appears to be a job with less control than they've typically wanted at their previous clubs.

I don't think the United job is one for a vastly experienced manager right now. I think it's probably more suited to an up and coming manager, someone who can grow with it, the club and the squad over the next few years.

De Zerbi, Amorim, Alonso, Slot, Farioli or Tedesco could all do a good job I feel.

04 Mar 2024 21:02:22
Please forgive the cheeky request Ed002 but are you able to say who Ashworth’s recommendation for manager is pls?

Thanks as always for any info you are able to reveal.

{Ed002's Note - None of those listed were suggested by him. He will have a say.}

04 Mar 2024 21:12:54
Thank you for your swift response Ed002 - very much appreciated.

You really are a master of intrigue at times!

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool: brief review

04 Mar 2024 07:39:08
{Ed's Note - Seano_ has posted a new article entitled, Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool: brief review

04 Mar 2024 04:57:36
That's it. I am done with Rashford now. The guy needs to get sold.

Except the goal today, the guy did next to nothing. He looked really scared to go one on one against Walker. All the time he had to run against walker, he just tried to find a reason to fall down or give up. The first Foden goal could easily have been a foul as it could have gone eitherway, but Rashford, despite having clearly a lot of space to run to and do something, got scared and chose to dive on minimal contact.

This team needs to get ripped apart and get rebuilt. Is ETH still the guy? I am unsure. I can clearly see how much his post match interviews have changed from last year. Last year, I enjoyed his interviews as he was honest, took his stand, and was good at answering tricky questions. This year, he just sounds like he is scared and trying the defend even the stupidest things. Looks like he is scared of getting sacked and trying to make things look like its not as bad even though it is.

This transfer window should be biggest so far. If it was to me, i would get rid of all of these players:

Rashford: 80m. Despite being wildly unconsistent, i believe he will still guarantee a good transfer fee in this crazy transfer market
Antony: 25m- Cut the loss
Sancho: 40m
Maguire: 25m
Mctominay: 25m
Shaw: 40m- Too injury prone
Casemiro: 40m? hopefully saudi.

That is total of 275m. With maybe 200m of our existing transfer kitty, that is plenty of money to buy a well scouted and well researched player who is not going to cost a lot. Even if we average 40m for one player, we can easily buy 10 players, first team as well as squad players.

I know it sounds too easy and is not how world works but it does seem possible if we have a good recruitment team who know what kind of players to buy and where to buy. Ignore bunch of overpaid players and hyped players. Go for players who are good but just about to step to their best years. Similar to what Klopp is doing at Liverpool signing Szoboslai, Endo, Diaz, Jota. Clearly didn't spend huge money but are clearly getting job done.

04 Mar 2024 06:50:00
“The first Foden goal could easily have been a foul”

It was in no way, shape or form a foul. If you’re giving a free kick for that, the game becomes a non-contact support.

Rashford was scared of Walker.

04 Mar 2024 08:14:13
1000% not a foul. Strange decision to go down with so much space ahead of you @wazza.

04 Mar 2024 09:18:19
Manger and some players are cowards.
Eth is also deluded his post match comments are simply from a man who is drawing. He is so far removed from reality just like ole was he is morphing into ole.

04 Mar 2024 09:21:25
Srestha.
Our manager would get nowhere with those players Liverpool have. They wouldn't want to play for him.

04 Mar 2024 09:26:26
I agree about the foul guys. Not a genuine foul but we can't lie saying we have never seen it given. Rashford was trying to do exactly that, dive in minimal contact as it is often given. The guy could have done much better but got scared of Walker. Does not deserve to be in the bench let alone in the first XI.

04 Mar 2024 09:33:10
As an outsider looking in I’d be somewhat surprised if you got that big of a fee for Rashford, mainly because of A) his wages would put off majority of English teams (think only city or Chelsea would pay his wages and similar with Maguire last summer can’t seem him taking wage cut) Chelsea mayyy be daft enough. B) outside of England; from what eds / media have said Real are trying to make room for Mpabbe in wage structure, PSG may but, apologies if slightly xenophobic, would they see an English player as mbappe replacement that fans would take to and can’t see Rashford accepting Saudi league.

Only players that would catch a huge fee would be:

Hojlund (who a bit like Nunez for us was a huge fee others question but personally one of your best signing in years and looks like someone you build your attack around) . swap him and Rashford for city’s first goal and he doesn’t go down. Instead fights to keep play going or least try take on walker to get through on goal. Garnacho, Martinez, Mainoo or Fernandez - would only be tempted with Fernandez but mainly as lfc fan he just gets me goat and his attitude / tendency to try audacious too often. Saying that never realised but RH, LM, KM looks like a young spine could build an outstanding team around, with garnacho and Fernandez adding creativity / outlet for attacks.

Sorry for rather verbose reply - also onana has improved but not top tier ( eg alison or courtois save that second goal at near post and doesn’t have Edersons ability to play out) . But also not sure who could realistically get to improve on a solid keeper - so maybe no 2 who can push him like at arsenal.

04 Mar 2024 10:08:50
Imagine Rooney for example in the same situation.

02 Mar 2024 19:38:48
Maybe I'm naive, fancy word for clueless, but with our problems at left back why not just recall Brandon Williams from loan. He's got to be better than those we have tried to play there out of position.

02 Mar 2024 19:50:16
Brandon william is not good enough.

02 Mar 2024 20:16:00
You can't just recall a player that has a contract.

02 Mar 2024 22:16:27
Perhaps someone like the manager should have figured we needed cover at left back (an injury prone left back at that), when the cover was already injured, a long way before March. Who is making those decisions? (And that we didn’t need another striker? )

03 Mar 2024 00:58:58
Is he not still in the midst of his own injury crisis that has prevented him from playing a single minute in 2024?

03 Mar 2024 04:54:00
brandon williams has been injured for a while and back at united going through rehab.

03 Mar 2024 14:12:13
I’m not sure we can blame the manager for this one. He wanted a lb in the summer and got a loan signing that didn’t work out. The club activated the break clause for some reason and didn’t sign a replacement despite knowing Malacia is out for the rest of the season. That can’t be the manager’s decision.

My view is that the new people in charge don’t want ETH to bring in any new signings. They’ve left him with one striker and one lb at the end of January. There’s no manager on the planet that would want that situation. So we have to look to the club, and speculate that they would rather the manager not succeed and be replaced in the summer with extra money for the new manager, than risk giving ETH more money and still failing this season.

My suspicion, backed by ed002s info, is that the club have already decided that they want a new manager and the team will have to make do until the summer when the big changes will happen.

03 Mar 2024 15:03:44
100% Danny, decision already made, he is gone and he knows it too. Only have to listen to SJR interview to read between the lines to that outcome, probably footballs worst kept secret atm…
TBF would you let him have anymore money going by previous buys/ loans
He let Fernandez go out on loan when he knew Malacia was out for season and Shaw is made of Glass, so would have thought a bit of joined up thinking from him may have been good…. But clearly not.

03 Mar 2024 18:18:43
I can’t fault their decision. If you aren’t committed to the manager, you can’t give them money to spend. Just leaves the squad in a bad way for the rest of the season. As evident today, there’s nobody on the bench that can influence the game, and too many on the pitch who influence it in the wrong way.

Going to be difficult for the next manager sorting through the mess in the summer.

03 Mar 2024 18:42:01
Everyone says ETH was handed a mish mash of squad well the next manager handed even worse, because ETH additions in my view are worse then what they replaced and they were bought for his style whatever that maybe.

Everyone knows what I think of ETH since day 1, but anyone who says Antony is unplayable is beyond all help!

03 Mar 2024 19:25:21
Alvaro Fernandez and his agent approached the club to ask for a loan move as he wanted to play regularly again this season as he did last season while on loan at Preston.

He knows he needs to play most weeks if he is to continue to develop. The club. Couldn't guarantee him that at United. At the time Shaw was fully fit and Malacia was supposedly due back around Christmas time.

So the club agreed that Fernandez should head out on loan. While they sought Reguilon as a loan singing to cover. EtH reportedly wanted Cucurella but the club couldn't afford his loan fee. Further evidence that EtH has not had the backing that some people believe.

03 Mar 2024 22:16:17
Brandon Williams is on 65k a week. Absolute madness.

04 Mar 2024 09:17:33
Brandon Williams has a lot of things going on in his personal life to sort.

02 Mar 2024 08:32:03
I fancy you will get some sort of a result against city

Come on do us a favour.

02 Mar 2024 10:32:23
You have a good sense of humor mal.
Have you seen us play recently?

02 Mar 2024 11:57:43
Malaga

I have you guys winning the league. Hope you get it done.

02 Mar 2024 11:59:57
I think we will snatch a draw Malaga.
3 all
Rashford hat trick.

02 Mar 2024 12:52:49
It will be utter carnage.

02 Mar 2024 12:58:02
I think we’ll do rather well may even manage a shot on target.

02 Mar 2024 13:39:23
No chance BR, no shots at all.

02 Mar 2024 15:39:13
Malaga you started on the booze early down there or what!

02 Mar 2024 16:13:12
I thought I been on the same amount of booze when I heard ETH say that Antony can be unplayable! Is ETH looking for becoming a stand up comic with some of the quotes he comes out with! But that one must take the biscuit surely?

Or have you heard him say better?

02 Mar 2024 16:24:24
Strangebloke ?.

02 Mar 2024 18:13:34
Malaga, I was at your mob last Saturday with my Geordie mate. You’ve got a couple of gems in Rice and Saka. Really impressive players.

02 Mar 2024 18:57:35
Lol arsenal will not be winning the league regardless of whether we get a result.

02 Mar 2024 20:20:21
I hope they do. Imo best team to watch over the last 6 or so games.
It's going to be very tight bren the 3 of them.
Fair play to Liverpool they are winning games with a lot of regulars out all season.
City don't look as dominant this season at times so it will be touch and go.
Makes it interesting.
Watching the 3 of them makes you realise just how poor we are to watch.

02 Mar 2024 22:19:36
With goal difference possibly being an important factor in who wins the league I expect City to go all out against us. If they get an early goal I can see us being thrashed six or seven again. Our midfield is so weak and with no left back City must be licking their lips.

03 Mar 2024 07:19:24
Exactly my thoughts too Salford.

04 Mar 2024 06:24:38
Ken who are the regulars that have been out all season?

04 Mar 2024 10:17:14
Chris they have had regulars out of their team all season.
Trent missed a load of games
Robertson missed a load of games
Salah missed games
Allison missed games
Jota missed a load as did Diaz.
Salah not too many or nunez but both been out at times.

04 Mar 2024 11:55:59
Here is number of games the mentioned guys have missed.

Been in the squad

Alison 29 games
Trent 29 games
Robertson 19 games
Diaz 40 games
Jota 29 games
Salah 29 games
Nunez 39 games

Remember Klop uses a lot of youngsters for early cup games and if I remember correctly does not even have some of the senior players in the match day squads. Liverpool have played a total of 43 games this year across all competitions.

Feel free to look up United. Total media bias IMO. the united numbers is an eye opener.

04 Mar 2024 17:41:37
It's not a comparison ahmad what are you taking about.
Klopp is top of league won a cup and is still in the other 2.
Played 26% of games without 1st choice keeper and rb and 60% without his 1st choice lb.
I dispute your claim Diaz has been in squad for 40 of their 43 games.
Less of the whataboutary.
My post was klopp has done well with their injuries. He has.
Eth has not done well with our injury list imo.
Is our injury list worse. Yes it is. Our are results worse Yes they are. I don't think anybody is disputing those 2 facts.
Bottom of cl group
Out of 1 cup still in 1 cup.
Not in contention for top 4 at end of Feb.
Why compare the 2. This bs about comparing injury lists is nonsense.
If you don't want to acknowledge that your competitors are doing well with injuries hitting them that's OK. I find it churlish and a little stupid and immature but that's just my opinion.
Yes klopp does rotate more. Maybe eth could learn from that but I don't suppose he will because he is of the opinion we were close to them doing it his way.
But I don't make the decisions our new experts do that. I wonder will they see what you do or what I do.

01 Mar 2024 19:22:12
Zidane probably still better then any of our midfield?

02 Mar 2024 11:47:01
Iqbal? That has to be your worst take yet, and there have been some absolute peaches???.

02 Mar 2024 14:15:29
Mate you should change your name from strangeways to Broadmoor ?.

02 Mar 2024 15:34:15
Deano it was tongue in cheek reply to someone who said ZZ for manager, but for some reason it got posted alone, although having said that he would be better then most our midfielders, even at his age…first of all he got a brain second he can pass a ball 3rd he won’t have to move to be better then them anyway….

29 Feb 2024 22:54:05
I'd like to look at a few positives going into the next few weeks. These positives are crucial imo and if they continue to improve and remain as positives from now until the end of the season then I'd be happy with that.

1. Onana. I think he has been better and his confidence is on the up. He has only made a couple of saves imo that he was not favourite to make but he has not made nearly as many mistakes and poor decisions recently so if that continues it will help the team no end. We can't afford any more clown keeping. He needs 15 more good games out of 15.

2. Dalot and garnacho partnership on the right. Let's hope we see it back together soon. The more that's available to us the better.

3. Mainoo. I think he is being handled rajkot well by eth in terms of game time he us only 18. But when he plays the midfield looks more secure.

4. Rasmus . He needs to keep scoring if he finishes this season really well its our best chance of goals.

5. Garnacho. He is so positive. He plays like a fan would. His final ball and decision making is too far behind his ability. For me that's down to coaching. I see less flamboyance I do not want to lose that. As soon as he gets back out on the right the better.

Imo if those five continue to get better and bit regress then that's our best chance of a strong finish.

The 5 things that have to change are:
1 rashford. Needs to get back out on the left do less talking more running more better decisions more effort. I don't care if he doesn't like his position or his coach or his critics. Just go out and work hard for your team mates your supporters and your club., and apply yourself properly and make tyke most of your talent.

2. Bruno. Leaders lead. Be a leader. Lead by example.

3. Eth . Lighten up and be a lot more selective with your press comments.

4. Lindelof at lb is mad. Played well at cb.

5. Mount. I really like mount as a player. If he can come into the team and get a good run of games it will benefit the team.
Imo without going into tactics style of play and all that, on the surface seeing all the above would keep most of us happy I suspect between now and end of the season.

I'm sure you could all list a different set but these are the things I'm hoping for as a minimum and looking out for.

29 Feb 2024 23:39:23
Nice switch of gears, great post.

I think your last point is critical. Forget tactics and positions etc etc. If the players just work hard, play with confidence and play with a bit more care and positive energy I think we can finish strong for the rest of the season.

City will be tough. We need to play like a squad of utd players and show them what we are made of.

Liverpool in the cup and league will be tough. But we can win these games with spirit and togetherness.

Too much doom and gloom around. We have to circle the wagons and come out fighting.

01 Mar 2024 09:33:35
Agree, bare minimum in football is that you match the oppositions work rate, we currently haven't done that. I think Mr Rashford as well has just put an immense amount of pressure on himself with the statement he released yesterday. 3 days before the Manchester derby, a Manchester derby that carries quite a bit of importance for both teams, he needs to run and sprint more than any other player on that pitch Sunday after his comments.

01 Mar 2024 09:49:09
Agree with all the positives, especially been impressed by Dalot this season, not many contenders this year but i would have him down as player of the season.

01 Mar 2024 10:57:54
I think we will give them a good game and will depend on us taking our chances and being clinical. We will not have many scoring opps imo. Lindelof and varrane vs halaand is a worry as a pairing.

01 Mar 2024 12:33:36
We look after varane by cutting off service to him. Easier said than done of course. Someone at the top of our midfield has to sit on Rodri - he is the player who makes them tick.

Speaking of Varane and Rashford, I’ve just seen a very interesting chart from Wednesdays game.

Varane was, by far, the most progressive player on the pitch with 13 progressions; 8 successful progressive passes and 5 successful progressive carries.

He’s a long way ahead of the rest.

Rashford, by contrast, was by far the worse of the starting outfield players. With zero.

Although Garnacho didn’t fare much better (2 and 1), if young Marcus thinks there is an unfair media campaign against him, he is dead wrong.

His interview has only made me want to see the back of him more. He’s lazy and entitled, and is now stinking the place out, just like Martial is/ was. He’s come across as a bit thick and not capable of taking responsibility for his performances, which means he is no leader.

I hate to tread on the border of being a “toxic” fan as I’m generally positive and will always back the manager and players, until they very clearly and obviously give up, as Rashford has so obviously done.

I’m convinced we will be a better side without Rashford.

01 Mar 2024 13:20:36
I'm not sure we've got any option other than Rashy up top.
I've seen the calls for McT / Forson and can't see it. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see EtH doing anything out of the ordinary against such a good team.
Maybe that's what we're missing. That Mourinho-style unexpected line-up or change that causes problems. We're so limited in our options atm.

01 Mar 2024 13:24:24
Evra, Carrick, Pogba, McGuire, and now Rashford. Is it Easter already?

01 Mar 2024 14:01:25
wazza

Rashford was playing as a striker. if you want to talk stats check out how many chances we created for him. ONE. A lot more crowded playing in the middle of the pitch than on the wings.

01 Mar 2024 14:31:41
I would play Fernandes as false 9 and put mctominay on as a defensive 10, his main job being to stop rodri playing. But I don't think there is any magic formation Tbh, we will either fight and stick together and play hard all over the pitch, or we will capitulate and get stuffed.

Which utd will show up?

01 Mar 2024 14:53:17
Ahmad. You have to stop talking rubbish.
A striker has to move, he needs to be an outlet he needs to show for the ball.
Our striker more like stroker was stood outside the box for our corners.
You can't find a stroker that's hiding. He hid for the last 2 games because he has a sulk on.
I see the post on the rumours page aimed at you in red ink. It's so accurate.
He has hid not made runs, he only runs away from the ball or drops into areas he can't receive it.
Maybe the 11 times he lost the ball were chances but he lost the ball.
There are only 2 people in this world defending his nonsense. You and him.

01 Mar 2024 17:16:06
Give over Ahmad. Rashford has become undefendable now. How are you not seeing what everyone else is seeing?

Some topics get to a point where it's no longer worthwhile debating with the opposing side because they refuse to accept anything beyond their own opinion. This is one of them.

I don't mean to get personal but you are blind if you cannot see that Rashford's performances have been diabolical and embarrassing.

02 Mar 2024 01:15:15
Haaland frequently doesn't get a lot of touches. There's much more to playing CF than waiting for a ball over the top and then trying to beat the defense for speed. #1. you have to fight for possession with your back to the goal #2 you have to hold the ball and bring other players into the game - who then they might be in a position to return a pass to you in scoring position #3 you have to anticipate where a pass/ cross is coming to, and then #4 you have to take your chances - In all 4 respects Rashford has been pretty abject this season. Add to that his moodiness, lack of discipline on and off the field, his public sympathetic response to Sancho, and on too many occasions, when playing on the wing, a failure to fulfill his defensive duties - I really don't see how anyone can defend him. The only thing I will say is that the left side of our team has been crippled by the virtual season loss of Martinez and Shaw, who together would surely improve Rashford's demeanor and effectiveness.

02 Mar 2024 06:13:15
This page has been toxic towards so many great players over the years from carrick, rooney etc etc and only once they are gone and we spend years trying to fill the void we wish we had players anything like them and still a void in the team. Its one player this year and another one next year. Most wanted Dalot shipped and consider themselves football experts which speaks volumes.

I have said he is having a poor season so far but not as bad as some make it and question his desire and commitment or cares none and just here to make a big wage. That to me is one step too far. Antony is poor imo but never question his desire or the idea he is just milking a big wage and does not care.

This team is one of lowest scoring teams in the league and everyone's numbers are not great to look at and offensively we are disjointed. It is not a team that creates much in terms link up play and mostly dependent on individual moments from different players.

Finally this manager is no nonsense manager and if you are not doing what he wants you don't play. He drops you without a second thought and if Rashfords effort rate was an issue he would not be getting picked imo.

Finally I think he will be the last guy we sell and if we do he will get our biggest transfer fee since Ronaldo. Everyone out there scouts, managers must be blind too if they pitch up and pay it.

02 Mar 2024 07:53:56
Don’t put Rashford’s name in the same sentence as Rooney’s ?‍♂️ one is the clubs greatest goal scorer, left it all on the pitch week-in, week-out, and led the line in arguably our greatest ever side (which included Carrick btw) .

The other let's Ross Barkley use him as a roundabout.

02 Mar 2024 08:12:30
C’mon mate. When you have Rooney AND Shearer, arguably two of the greatest strikers to grace the field, calling you out for your lack of effort and demeanour then perhaps he is letting standards drop.

And whilst I have, until recently, advocated keeping ETH I am not sure anyone knows what he wants, fans or players! If he thinks that Rashford is cutting it then I am even more concerned for his future.

You say in one breath that the team doesn’t create, is disjointed, have link up play, relies on individual brilliance and is one of the lowest scoring. Yet you defend the manager and underperforming players. I’m confused.

I have supported United through thick and thin since 65. I have seen some absolute rubbish on the park and for those old enough it’s looking recently to be right down there with the lowest ebbs. Of course we will rise again and if you don’t mind I’d like it to be relatively soon!

I sincerely hope that I am soon eating my words and this mini run we are on is a sign that this is the beginning as ETH keeps saying.

02 Mar 2024 09:28:04
Read an interesting article ranking every Utd striker since van Nistelrooy. Obviously doesn't include academy players such as Rashford.

Angelo Henriquez - don't remember this guy
Manucho - umm.
Mame Biram Diouf - vague recollection.
Radamel Falcao - one of my biggest disappointments.
Wout Weghorst - huh
Odion Ighalo - popped up with the odd goal
Henrik Larsson
Michael Owen
Romelu Lukaku
Edinson Cavani
Cristiano Ronaldo
Anthony Martial - wtf
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Carlos Tevez - one of my very faves. Legend
Dimitar Berbatov
Javier Hernandez
Robin van Persie.

02 Mar 2024 11:53:42
RvP is probably my personal favourite United striker, just so classy. Real shame we didn't get to see him for longer.

Javier Hernandez is a player that was massively underrated, the ideal squad player. I think he has the record for most substitute goals in the EPL. He definitely has the best rate per appearance.

I think Højlund has the potential to become a club legend, which makes signing a striker a little tricky this summer as we absolutely have to sign one, but it has to be the right player. Someone to support Højlund but not sideline him. I'd like to see someone like Lois Openda sign. A different profile of striker to give the manager more options, but very much someone who could also play alongside Højlund in a strike partnership on occasions as well.

02 Mar 2024 12:16:25
Keafy

I defend the manager because I believe he is getting a tune out of what's at his disposal and in a very difficult environment and probably the most difficult job in football. injuries to key players has killed him and everytime you think we are turning the page something bad happens to a key player, then another one and then another one.

Our best starting eleven will give any team a run and beat them and we have proved that. The issue is when he has to dig into to the squad and the quality is not there. This is not his squad and even if he had the 8 players he has bought available there is 14 from from before he arrived. Granted you have guys like rash and bruno in there so not all average imo.

People who compare him to city, liverpool, arsenal those managers have pretty much build a squad of 22 of their choosing. Even with injuries they get to call on other players who they have brought into their squads.

For the hardcore people and we have plenty here they see this as an excuse and i don’t. Difference of opinion.

They think a good manager should somehow turn a glass into a diamond and teach old dogs better touch, better passing etc etc.

02 Mar 2024 13:53:51
Ahmad

You said ETH is a “no nonsense manager, if you are not doing what he wants you don't play., drops you without a second thought and if Rashfords effort rate was an issue he would not be getting picked imo. ”

What? So how long did Antony play without getting dropped? Rashford js a disgrace to the shirt. The Ireland episode tells you what the shirt means to him. The strict disciplinarian you describe put him back in after what was it one game out? That isn’t a disciplinarian, that indicates the lack of determination to sort it out. That alone totally belies what you wrote.

Rashford (and Bruno) should be the first we sell. If we can get anywhere near the £80m for Ronaldo for Rash, I would be delighted. No doubt Rashford would have a good year somewhere new before going off again. Sell sell sell

Lastly if all these players are doing what ETH wants, they have not been dropped so your logic says that losing 15 games this year means ETH doesn’t know what he is doing.

02 Mar 2024 14:29:30
He has failed miserably on too many counts to be given the opportunity to continue.
Progress not only stalled it came to a shuddering halt and things are now as bad a they were when he came.
He does not inspire his players they are poorly coached and set up.
He knows he is going we all do.
Looking forward to the summer.

02 Mar 2024 14:43:17
I'd be surprised if Utd opted to sell him. it would need him to request a transfer. We're short as it is even before Martial leaves. I'm sure there'd be lots of interest. Despite everything he's still our most likely goal threat tomorrow.

29 Feb 2024 21:20:38
'My family turned down life changing money so I could wear this badge. so never doubt my commitment to the club' a quote by mr rashford apparently. All well and good but it doesn't excuse his antics and complete disinterest all year. Sounds like typical pr speak to me. Proof is in the pudding Marcus, back it up or see ya.

29 Feb 2024 21:42:36
My interpretation of the interview Tim is that Mr Rashford is taking no responsibility for his behaviour and performances, which is what an elite level performer should do. Rather he’s playing the victim, which seems to be the way forward in this day and age.

29 Feb 2024 21:59:25
In a nutshell Tim.

I'm sick of seeing pampered little boys like Precious stroll around taking the p*** out of fans who have paid small fortunes from their comparatively tiny wage packets that they've properly grafted for - only to then have to listen to this delusional and blinkered moron chat some more s*** about commitment.

I wonder, does he really actually believe that s*** that's dribbled out from his head?

29 Feb 2024 22:44:58
Question must be What has happened to him? His performances have always been hit and miss but this new attitude is not good. Yet another footballer surrounded by yes men and poor advisors. Rashford should look at pogbas career and how its nosedived, he’s going the same way (at least pogba won a wc) if he doesn’t buck up.

29 Feb 2024 23:08:26
Turned down life changing money to earn £300k a week! You have to be kidding me. If he really said this.

WOW!

01 Mar 2024 07:06:49
I don’t think it’s ever wise to have a family member as an advisor.

01 Mar 2024 07:58:55
Seriously misguided and insulting comment. He is on life changing money!

01 Mar 2024 08:37:02
They all believe they can do no wrong it’s everybody else’s fault
Never heard so much crap in all my life
So called fan don’t make me laugh
Most of us would give our right bollock to play for Utd, we’d run through brick walls but not this self entitled meal deal Marcus
I cannot stand him and want him gone now
He ain’t going to change.

01 Mar 2024 08:39:33
Bang on Ork. Totally agree.

01 Mar 2024 09:04:24
Have to agree with you there. If ineos really want to lay down a marker and show that there’s a new regime in town then rashford needs to be gone. I’m not buying any excuses for him, his attitude stinks and he’s not the only one.

01 Mar 2024 09:17:51
He wasn’t on life changing money when he joined the club as a child though, that’s what he meant, his family took risks and made sacrifices in the hope he would become a footballer so he doesn’t want to throw that away is basically what he’s saying.

01 Mar 2024 10:26:37
Did you guys even read the article to get the context of that quote or are you just off excerpts on social media. He says he was 11 when he got offered a lot of money to leave, which he turned down because he wanted to play for Utd. He was a kid coming from a struggling background and obviously taking the money would have been the easy route out. I agree that his attitude stinks and he needs to shape up or ship out, but don't be making up stuff just to have a go at him.

01 Mar 2024 11:30:40
I don't have an issue with what he has come out and said, it's more about the timing and the lack of effort it looks like he puts in to games at the moment which is contradictory to what he said. As stated in an above post, I think the timing is ridiculous from him unless we see a massive change in work rate and effort, otherwise its just words in an attempt to appease fans and pundits. Massive pressure on him now going into the City game.

01 Mar 2024 12:25:30
What he really means is City offered him a private school education and expenses of maybe a grand a mo th to his family which isn’t really life changing money is it Marcus as he keeps bleating on about having no food and poverty when he was younger

Does he look like he loves the club

All we want Marcus is blood sweat and tears for this great club, not pulling out tackles turning your back and basically showing no effort

Your all that is wrong with Utd at the moment

Why don’t you take some time out with that other waster Pogba and do some dabbing together.

01 Mar 2024 13:38:52
why so much hate and dislike for a home grown guy who has cost us nothing. He is having a poor season by his standards and fan expectation but so is the whole team. He comes from a very poor background and his talent has got him where he is. His wage and contract is the clubs decision and not my money or yours.

I think he is a great talent and would be such a shame if people force him to move on. He will light it up elsewhere. This team does not create enough imo and its okay to be frustrated as a player. I am not in the camp he does not try, go to a game and count how many runs he does but the ball never comes and even when it comes its a pretty poor one.

01 Mar 2024 14:11:25
Ahmad, someone on here who was at a game recently, said his lack of movement was even more evident when watching him from the stands.

01 Mar 2024 14:31:11
Ahmad you can’t be serious
He hardly makes any runs
Never tracks back pulls out of tackles
Most players are either pro active or reactive and he’s non
He’s a sulker and a bluffer
Most overrated player in our history
I can concur with Noucamp it is more evident in person his pure lack of effort and desire
World class wages for a bang average player
GET RID.

01 Mar 2024 14:34:04
Ahmad, there’s being positive and there’s being blinkered. Rashford has had an easy time because he is a local home grown United supporter, but there is only so long you can ride that train. He could go the whole season not scoring if he went out and ran through brick walls week in week out. But he hasn’t. He’s turned up late or not at all to training more than once and once is far to many times as a professional footballer. He needs a Roy Keane sized rocket up his backside.

01 Mar 2024 14:43:03
Ahmad H

What absolute rubbish.

Like a lot of people, I also come from a very poor background, but nobody will ordinarily escape poverty without effort.

Yes, his talent has removed himself and his family from the threat of poverty and that can only ever be a great thing - I'm genuinely happy that he won't suffer the real misery his mother suffered.

Unfortunately, for those in attendance at United games, most keep themselves away from the fingers of poverty with at least as much graft as talent.

The point is mate, for this fraud to run his mouth about commitment, he needs to first remove his head from his squeaky clean and consider the commitment of a regular fan who has grafted away for 40hrs+ a week in a job that certainly isn't a dream vocation to, once the bills have eaten most of their earnings, commit to their passion of following their team.

I've been to enough games and seen Rashford live to know that, irrespective of his runs, he does not graft.
As for those runs, when he does get the ball, he is frequently on his own because of his mooching and should at least try to hold the ball up, but no, he'll sink into Boss mode and try to jink his way past 2, 3, 4 players long before he'd even think to lift his head to find a pass. That's all he ever wants to do and, considering the fact he fails with this play 95% of the time, it's just not good enough.
So this running garbage is just that - garbage. He will occasionally track back, but he certainly won't sprint to do so.

I'll be fair, he puts in a bit more graft than Martial, but that's no glowing endorsement.

Like Bruno, he is not a team player and I would be very happy to see both leave by the end of summer'25.

01 Mar 2024 14:50:34
Ahmad, I have to respectfully disagree. Last year was the outlier not the norm. It was only 2/ 3 years back there was conversations about selling him so poor was his form/ application. He had a purple patch of 4 months, there was nothing before or after that spell to suggest he’s as good as we’d like him to be or some think he is.

02 Mar 2024 16:01:10
Why is it ok for the same posters to keep moaning about players i.e Rashford, Bruno, McT but it’s wrong for me to keep moaning about ETH….
What’s even more relevant we can get rid of the manager, but not these players until window open, so like you say to me change the record back the players, easy ain’t it!

29 Feb 2024 15:52:56
Pogba banned for 4 years.

Wouldn't have needed much doping. He was most of the way to being a dope anyway.

Wouldn't have needed much to enhance his performance either! A wine gum would have sufficed.

A waste of what was once a great talent.

29 Feb 2024 16:10:51
Apparently he was DABbing a lot.

29 Feb 2024 16:30:05
Nothing will change my mind that he is the worse signing in the club's history.

Leaving on a free.
Bought back for an eye-watering fee.
Paid eye-watering wages.
Poor performance after poor performance.
Leaving on a free. Again.

He is the hero product of the post-Fergie era.

29 Feb 2024 16:54:01
I'd need to see some evidence of him taking performance enhancing drugs in the last few years.

29 Feb 2024 17:13:38
Nou, that's a great point and I think it will make a sound defence ?.

29 Feb 2024 19:01:24
Sad way for his career to end. So much wasted potential, had everything needed to be the best midfielder in the world, but just didn’t have the drive or desire.

29 Feb 2024 19:33:52
Career-ending? Don't fret, I'm sure we'll be in for the hat-trick in 4 years unless things improve!

29 Feb 2024 19:54:03
Maybe he play in Gerard Pique's league.

29 Feb 2024 19:58:28
He won't be too bothered.
4 years is a heavy ban.
Pep only got 4 months all those years ago for steroids in his system.

29 Feb 2024 22:43:23
He played like he was stoned. Now I understand.

29 Feb 2024 14:13:00
Last night's pass accuracy from 1 united player was 71%
Lost possession 11 times
Touched the ball 31 times ( that's less than our keeper) (considering the team had 61%possession its weak)
Spent longer on the pitch lying down feigning injury than he did actually on the ball.
Who you may ask.
Answers on a postcard please.

29 Feb 2024 14:59:29
It seemed like every time he had the ball in the first 15 minutes he gave it away. The problem is, at the end of the day, the statistics will show he was our most creative player, getting an assist. He might have had another had Antony scores early. It's hard to see how the new administration will be interested in keeping him or Rashford.

29 Feb 2024 15:47:14
Plus he was carrying an injury that most other players would not even stepped on the pitch, if we did not have him trying at least something we would be an even worth watch and let’s be fair we are bad enough to watch at best of times.

29 Feb 2024 15:50:54
He did nothing wrong. ETH says so.

29 Feb 2024 16:22:02
I thought Bruno was really poor but I thought mctominay was equally bad! At least Bruno has got a bit of magic in his boots mctom is awful in possession, gives the ball away as much as anyone and is bang average! Yes he’s a nuisance in the box but come on he needs to be moved on . A couple examples last night were when he had chance to break and pass forwards and set us away he two or three times passed sideways or back and to a forest shirt . Criminal.

29 Feb 2024 16:32:05
We all know who the post is aimed at, but for me McTominay's passing was the worst of all last night.

I rate the lad for his personality, attitude and work rate. But, obviously, no team is going to win much with him in midfield.

29 Feb 2024 18:28:14
They won, against an similarly open and attacking setup.
Two teams going toe to toe, there is always errors in the individuals games, but it is a combination from the team that gets them through.
Generally speaking. the most attack minded players, whom are trying to find the right angles etc and take the most risks with their passing, will do so at risk of dropping their statistics. At least they are trying to find an opening. I recall the days when the likes of Carrick, would spend the ENTIRE game doing 5m passes sideways or backwards. my 2yo girls could get decent stats with that approach. Here's the thing, those games were as boring as bat poo!

May I remind you all that they won.

Same people whinging even when we win.

29 Feb 2024 18:42:54
I’d love to see the stats for passes over 10 yards for Bruno I bet it’s absolutely shocking
Maybe he needs an eye test to check if he’s colourblind.

29 Feb 2024 18:43:40
The op was rashfords stats.

29 Feb 2024 22:05:32
Do you never get bored of whinging.

01 Mar 2024 11:53:31
Irony of that post is not lost on me banjoe.
You whinging about whinging is not the most sensible post I've seen.
The opening post was not a whinge.
Just a few stats that are at odds with rashfords claims that he is fully committed.
