I was just thinking to myself that Muniain and Martinez would be perfect for us and was wondering if a double raid would be on the cards.

But then again i can't think of any high profile examples where a club have moved for two of a clubs top talents. Can anyone think of anyone?

Wasnt at the same time but liverpool paid a combined fee of 42million for Carroll and Enrique lol.

I have to agree with you, other than Rooney, Rio and Ruud V.N who we paid a lot for ( and think not everyone would have at that time) who turned out to be stars.. United usually dont go for types of Gotze, Snijder, Hazard who are priced over 30 or 40 mil .. I mean sure we bought Anderson and Nani for around 15-20 Mil ( if i'm not mistaking) but look at the lack of consistency .. we as fans shouldn't be obssessed with high profile names.. I love to see the likes of Chicharito's and Valencia's in United.. players who love every moment of playing for United and not thinking about money, fame, or Madrid or Barca.. or the youth who make it to the first team .. let's leave the likes of Hazards, Erikssons and etc to FIFA MANAGEMENT ;) ..but hey that shouldn't stop us from making rumours lol .. UNITED for LIFE

Anyone remember what happened to Miguel veloso? He's still young, I presume still at bologna. Can do a job cm, cb, &lb from what I remember.
Not saying we should sign him but haven't heard his name mentioned for a good while.
Looks like Jovetic could move this summer, Chelsea have been linked but I do know that city nearly took him end of last summer. Do think we need someone who can play wide left, behind Rooney or instead of Rooney like him, Munain etc aswell as cm (IMO two needed in midfield to complete the squad).

Muniain would be a great option for us. Would probably take him over Martinez if i'm honest.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Veloso is at genoa

Agree0 Disagree0

Would you take him over Martinez coz we lack quality on the wings and have no decent players there ? Ohh no that's our cm position how can u say I want a winger over a cm we dnt need any wingers really

After watching sunderland today I must say i'm not looking forward to playing them on the last day of the season in a game we still may have to win to win the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a bad feeling about the everton game, i think if we win that we will win the league

Wesley Sneidjer at it again calling on United to sign him after he told the Dutch TV that he will sign for United in the summer of 2012......ED did u get any hint of this? {Ed007's Note - *sob*

Believable6 Unbelievable6

He had his chance! To little to late

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't sign Wes, Fergie has only signed 4 players over the age of 27 in his tenure, its not the United way unless someone who will truly change the team appears.

Ferdy is reported to be considering a move to China after being offered £250000/week by the club........

Believable1 Unbelievable15

He wont go to China

Ferdinand has shown that he has at least one more year left in him at the top level. He will stick around to help develop the youngsters, much in the same way that Blanc did with him.

Now i'm not one for peddling rumours, normally as I don't get wind of many that aren't already on here. But today during the course of my work(i work in a barber shop) I met a portuguse man who works for airbus, now he's from Lisbon and is a huge Benfica fan. He has a friend from school who works with the Benfica youth teams and he says that the word around the club is that Benfica are looking at moving for Ocampos as a replacement for Gaitan. Apparently the Ocampos camp feel a move to a smaller european club would be a better step than moving to one of the huge clubs at this stage of his career. So I asked him if he knew where Gaitan is going and he said that the only two clubs in talks currently with Benfica are PSG and United. And Gaitan doesn't wanna play in france. He said that he's gutted that Gaitan is leaving and feels he's a better player technique wise than Di Maria but lacks Di Maria's electric pace. Unfortunately I can't really vouch for him as I only met him today but he seemed very geniune. He did know alot about portuguse football and Benfica in perticular. Ed002 seems very well connected, I wonder if he's heard anything similar. But if he's right it looks like Gaitan will be wearing the mighty red shirt of manchester next season.

Shappy {Ed002's Note - It makes a lot of sense Shappy. Dealing first with Gaitan. Manchester United and Barcelona both showed interest in the winger but PSG or Napoli may still be the first to eventually put an offer on the table for Gaitan. Asking price is and will be an issue. My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica in January but no bid was made. I understand that it remains the case that no firm bid has been made but Benfica are aware of sustained interest in the player. I was not aware that the player had discounted France. As for Ocampos, River Plate's Lucas Ocampos has been looked at by a number of sides with Bayern Munich and Chelsea maintaining an interest. Inter Milan, Sevilla and Palermo have also shown an interest and Juventus (not either of the Milan clubs) made a bid. However, a move to Benfica makes a great deal of sense as the player is young and settling in Portugal where language is not an issue and culture is similar will not hinder his progress. It also allows for a third party ownership deal and an opportunity for regular first team football which may work in everyones favour. I wills ee if there is anything further on this.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Wow, a story about a convrsation at the barber's with a fan who has a fiend who works with Benfica youth....and it's actually believable!

cheers for the info Shappy, Ed002

many on this site see Gaitan as no more than a backup option four us this summer but if SAF wants him then I will certainly trust his judgement

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

A back up option? We have no left footed left winger, fergie knows what he is doing, he has had plenty of time to look at gaitan, not just the odd game like most people on here have seen. If we get him then he's good enough. He looks skilful and looks to be getting stronger from what I've seen of him.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope not. Personally Im not overly keen on him. No doubt he is technically a good player but so is Berbatov. I just think that Gaitan wont fit into this apparantly new "higher tempo" game SAF is looking to play. Plus for the money he would cost we could get a younger and, potentially, better Hazard.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with TK, i'm not sold on Gaitan not for the price banded around. I've seen nearly all of Benfica's champions league games and hasn't really impressed.

And sorry but blindly saying we should trust the scouts and fergies juddgement is wrong. Yes we have signed some great players over the years but also some rubbish like kleberson, djemba, manucho, obertan, dong, bellion, bebe. So forgive me if i great transfers with some caution.

But we do need a proper left footed winger though so who knows, it might happen and i'll support anyone in a red shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheere ed, like I said he did seem like he knew his stuff. As for Gaitan I must admit he wouldn't be my first choice either, i'd prefer James Rodriguez but if Gaitan is the player Sir Alex feels is best then i'll keep faith with him. Either way i'm looking forward to see who comes in this summer.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

'Unnamed Poster'

Im not sure a left footed winger is a must. We just need someone who is comfortable using their left foot. Someone who wont be afraid to take RBs on around the outside as opposed to cutting back in. Ashley Young is much more effective in games where he takes on his man IMO.

'Shappy'

I've seen a bit of James Rodriguez but not a massive amount, so correct me if I'm wrong, but hasnt his best form come from him primarily playing off the right hand side? If thats then would it be a case of another Nani where a player is decent but not quite as effective on the left?

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah TK, he plays alot on the right and cuts back onto his left but is more than capable of playing on the left. He's been moved out to the right to accomedate Hulk but his natural position is on the left, or so I believe.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with some of the posts, gaiten is not needed. In my opinion he is overrated and will not add anything to our current squad. Also for the price being quoted not worth it. We have been embarressed in Europe by the weakest group in the champions league, the players were deemed good enough by fergie, hence the reason he didn't buy two top quality midfielders. There can be no excuses this summer from fergie. Also if average players are bought then I would assume the glaziers are not giving any money to get the top quality players needed for the ageing players. Players like Martinez, munian, hazard, gotze, lavezzi, cavani, thiago, hummells, kagawa. All these players are available at the right price. Did anyone see the game Bilbao vs shalke, how that game reminded me of the way we used to counter attack teams with pace, Bilbao even kept the tempo up until the final whistle where they scored. If fergie is to change to Bilbao style he needs players like I mentioned above.

I heard on talk sport tonight an interview with a journalist in spain, who said that two of tomorrows papers are reporting that Mourinho has signed a deal with City for next year. He also put forward that the 2nd report was probably just the other paper bandwagoning the story, but nevertheless, should it have any truth in it, it would quite a shocker, and would rule him out from ever taking the reins after Sir Alex.
Dont flame me, I'm just passing on what the guy on the radio said.
jomo

He said i a interview that he has done no such thing

Agree0 Disagree0

I would disagree that it would rule him out by taking the city job.

If he went to Liverpool that could be difficult

Red Man seriously would you take him at UNited after managing City?

I never forgave Hughes for managing them or Brian Kidd for working there as assistant manager.

For me city is a different situation to Liverpool there is not the same level of animosity

Red Man
