I know it's only half a quote but according to the manager last night was "not a bad result". Now, as a one off he is right but he conveniently ignores context.
It is actually an appalling result. This is Man U at home at the Theatre of Dreams. This is yet another lack lustre performance in a string with only two victories against second string opponents to provide very mediocre "highlights".

We were so "at home" that viewers could be forgiven for thinking that players had carpet slippers on. Any "highlights" from last night were only such as slight relief from the generally dire performance.

As per my post on the Rumours section some days ago I am still awaiting the super optimists to take up my challenge explain why I should be encouraged by this backward progress, why it is toxic to say that this situation is appalling and wanting it over ASAP. Just sacking the manager will not solve anything. Those presiding of this fiasco need to go as well. The really depressing fact is that the owners are raking it in and inaction is very much in their mercenary interests.

I know that sorting it properly may be very disruptive but to use a travel analogy the sooner one admits to having taken a wrong turn and turned back the quicker you get to your destination.

I've watched a lot of Valencia this season, they looked better against Utd than much of the fodder they have faced in Spain. Awful result.

Good post.

I really the “theatre of dreams” tag, but agree with the sentiment of the post.

Eric,

It isn't a tag it is the nickname of our great stadium, I am sure you have been when things are going well, the name makes perfect sense.

Sly sports report- (probably100% lies) that we turned down a bid for pp of 45m + mina and gomes from Barcelona in the summer. Also reported that player part ex was dismissed by the club from I think ed002- I think this might be the only solution or method of getting the underperforming/ big wages of the books whilst still bringing in new blood. PSG appaently interested with Rabiot wanting out, they also have the likes of Verrati, cavani . Might be time for ed to change the negotiation tactics.

{Ed002's Note - This is where there is a major stumbling block. The only way it would be financially possible for PSG would be if Neymar or Mbappe were to leave - and they needed a replacement for Marco Verratti - but Mino has other ideas in any case. Barcelona's problem is simple, wages. They can fund the purchase but they are maxed out on wages and that is one of the reasons they will look to include players in any major deals. Their problem does not go away easily unless they can move Suarez on and perhaps offload Messi to a retirement in Orlando. Juventus are looking to continue their "growth plan" and would take Pogba if they can assure themselves he will excel, and they can address the financial needs which will include moving a couple of high end players on. I would not discount them but he is not top of their list.}

cheers ed002 for the rapid response. I always thought the wages a fees would end up being a major stumbling block with transfers and it obviously is. Thanks for the detailed answer, have a great day.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

I would take Either of Rabiot or Pogba Plus cash for Pogba at this minute. However, tomorrow is a different day.

Rabiot or veratti I meant lol.

{Ed002's Note - Rabiot will be out of contract in the summer and neither are of interest to the club right now.}

Do not rate Rabiot. He never dominates a match which is what we need.
