Hi Ed's

Just seen that we are interested in Coutinho. I know he's having a tough time at Barcelona but I'm wondering if there's any truth in this?

Cheers.

Red in Moscow

{Ed001's Note - none that I am aware of or Couts.}

1.) 08 Jan 2019 09:54:45
Would make no sense, operates in Pogba or Martial’s best position and would cost a fortune.

No point laying a new carpet with a leaky roof - get a defender in!

2.) 08 Jan 2019 11:07:46
Not that we are in for him, but if we go in for Coutinho, won't that be because Eds have repeatedly told us that both Pogba and Martial are likely to move on?

3.) 08 Jan 2019 12:23:46
Coutinho swap for Pogba maybe?

I know we've reportedly been against swaps but given the fee we would want for Pogba, would this be viable.

Would Coutinho even come to us?

4.) 08 Jan 2019 12:55:48
I agree Fresh, imagine if we Koulibaly. That would be an immense signing.

5.) 08 Jan 2019 13:56:25
Too inconsistent. All he can do is cut in and shoot wide from 20-30 yards.

6.) 08 Jan 2019 14:58:51
Does he play centre back now?

23 May 2016 14:40:58
De Telegraaf reporting that Zlatan has signed. Any insight?

Red in Moscow

1.) 23 May 2016 15:10:21
Not keen on Ibra. Lacks pace, doesn't offer enough outside the box BUT if it means Jose sees Rashford as first choice in 1-2 years time I think it could be a good signing.

2.) 23 May 2016 15:23:13
He could be a huge signing for us if this is true, can't believe anything at the moment though, Jose making somebody his first signing before he has even signed himself!

3.) 23 May 2016 15:52:23
To be fair Sheringham didn't have any pace but worked out well for us.

4.) 23 May 2016 16:21:50
I think there is an over emphasise on pace these days. Particularly with central strikers who should be judged most on their positional and finishing abilities. Van Nistelrooj or Sheringham were both 'slow' by modern standards but still two of the best.

5.) 23 May 2016 17:28:45
Zlatan is better than any player in our team, De Gea aside.

6.) 23 May 2016 18:00:49
Can't wait for next season whatever happens.

7.) 23 May 2016 19:31:09
Van nisterlooj was slow?
And you have to have pace as a striker. It's the difference between a kane and a wikham, and it's clear who anyone would pick if given the choice.

8.) 23 May 2016 21:07:30
Teddy offered a lot more outside the box, linked up play, had fantastic vision and was unselfish. Not sure IBRA had those qualities.

I can see why we would be interested, he could be as good as Sheringham, or Larrson. maybe better and he wouldn't block Rashford or Martial becoming first choice CF for too long.

I'm still torn as to whether I want him or not. I suppose this is the problem if we only play one striker it limits the game time of Rashford and/ or Martial so signing someone like Morata could stall their progress for too long.

9.) 24 May 2016 07:51:06
Are we really questioning the quality of Ibra and what he will bring the team. Although I was initially against it because I would like to see Martial be given the CF role, having Ibra will bring a massive boost to all around. He is just class.

10.) 24 May 2016 09:22:20
Mulam

Are you serious comparing him to sheringham and larson? He is world class go look at his assists numbers and maybe you should watch him more often. he has so much more in the bag than any of those guys had. He probably can hit a ball from 35 yards out better than anyone in our current team.

Some of the fans are truly confused, with all the rah rah of martial and Rashford, we scored 49 goals this year. Go check out the stats for the last 10 years for the PL and to be factor in the league you need to score 75 to 85 goals.

Explain to me how we will do that without adding a worldly striker upfront. the same fans will complain come next year when we struggle again to score goals that we should have bought a world class striker.

Rashford is 18 and way too early to burden him with scoring 20 to 25 goals a season.

11.) 24 May 2016 10:03:05
53 games and 53 goals enough said really.

12.) 24 May 2016 17:34:39
First priority no doubt is the goal scoring ability. We need at least couple of players who can bag in 20 goals a season. So Ibrahimovic will be a better signing than any of our CF.

13.) 24 May 2016 21:05:32
Zlatan thru the middle with Martial and Rashford either side as a starting front 3 works for me!

01 Sep 2015 10:58:47
Express reporting that Griezzman to us for 46.1 million. Don't know how reliable this is. But it's currently doing the rounds on Twitter!

Red in Moscow

1.) 01 Sep 2015 11:16:01
Lets pray Griezmann comes to Utd with a sprinkle of Laporte too!

2.) 01 Sep 2015 11:20:54
Must be true then, yippee!

3.) 01 Sep 2015 11:41:14
cant see it happening its all quiet today so far after the mayhem of yesterday still feel we've lost out most on the DDG deal

4.) 01 Sep 2015 11:46:35
God forbid I post a rumour.

{Ed002's Note - It won't be happening.}

5.) 01 Sep 2015 11:47:06
Telegraph's ogden also saying the same. he has said there is a 46.1m release clause and there is a apossibility if United act fast. Fingers crossed with his tweet yesterday giving hope.

{Ed002's Note - Try not to be so easily teased.}

6.) 01 Sep 2015 11:56:48
Thought so 002

7.) 01 Sep 2015 11:58:14
Nice to have you back ed

8.) 01 Sep 2015 12:26:09
United fans current poor state due to LVG has made ed002 to show some Mercy and give some info. It is better to say we signed ed002 on the deadline day.

9.) 01 Sep 2015 12:58:03
Cant see how United have lost on the DDG deal Brendan81.

If DDG stays for a season, and plays like he can, we have a great keeper and another year to find a rfeplacement (or maybe even get him to signa new contract).

If he cant/wont play well then a year in the stands is bad for him and bad for RM.

10.) 01 Sep 2015 16:27:43
Come again Stevetrom???

21 Jul 2015 13:50:46
Maybe this is the old romantic in me but what are the chances of Ronaldo moving to us this summer Ed?

He is a forward that we haven't recently been linked with and with the bad publicity in Spain regarding his selfishness do you think he'd be open to a move or would Madrid be open to a move?

I know it's got next to no chance but I have a weird feeling about this one.

Cheers

Red in Moscow

{Ed004's Note - I reckon there is no chance}

1.) 22 Jul 2015 00:32:28
Ed how reliable are marca their saying pedro is coming to us this week before I get all for this are they a reliable source thanks yous do a great job

{Ed001's Note - they are not really reliable mate. Spanish sports papers are aligned to a club and act as a mouthpiece for them. So they say what the club wants them to say.}

2.) 22 Jul 2015 20:20:02
Ronaldo rumours are and always will be false its one of the only things in sport I can say is pretty much a sure thing.

3.) 22 Jul 2015 21:54:51
I wasn't talking about any Ronaldo rumour. Only asking a question based on gut instinct/wishful thinking

12 Jul 2015 22:40:40
MS arrived at carrington 5 mins after BS. Seemingly mutv staff were told on Friday to be prepared for a press conference involving MS. Our midfield looks amazing if that's the case.

It was reported by the Manchester Evening News. I'm just quoting what they've said. Looks like a done deal

Looks like VDB is on his way. Perfect player to fit into the squad.

Seeing reports we are in for Upemecano, I'm sure he just signed a new contract so don't see that going anywhere. Any more updates on Badashiel?

Thanks.

27 Jul 2016 12:06:46
Correct me if I'm wrong but if this reported agents fee is the only stumbling block to the Pogba deal does that not reflect really badly on him?

If you believe reports the agent is the only thing that's stopping his move from happening.

Could anyone tell me if agents actually have this amount of power or say in deals or is there actually another underlying issue?

If they do have that much power something needs put in place to stop these knobs dictating everything.

Red in Moscow

{Ed002's Note - You are wrong.}

1.) 27 Jul 2016 13:22:55
Nice and simple ed. What seems to be the problem and why do agents seem to have such an influence? They are a nuisance IMO.

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in explaining any of it on this page but you all seem rather misinformed.}

2.) 27 Jul 2016 13:28:22
So ed, could it be a case of pogba and raiola stalling so madrid can raise the cash or is it as simple as juventus and united not agreeing on the price?

3.) 27 Jul 2016 14:16:07
Pogba is on holiday until the 6th so i can't see anything being concrete until after then. All of 'deal soon' headlines are probably just to sell papers or get clicks on a webpage.

4.) 27 Jul 2016 14:13:28
Is the bottom line. he is holding on to see if madrid can make it happen as it seems he wants to go to spain.

5.) 27 Jul 2016 14:23:07
002 - we probably are misinformed because we have to rely on what we read elsewhere, because you won't give us your valuable insights because a few act like spoilt children. Can we not just ban them, or edit the site so only logged in users can see ED posts? That would surely filter out the idiots.

6.) 27 Jul 2016 14:24:34
Yet another pointless insult/ contribution from Ed002!

7.) 27 Jul 2016 14:13:05
From what I've read, Raiola was shrewd in including a 20% ownership fee in Pogba's contract with Juventus and that is the money he is due regardless of the price. Unfortunatly, if that is the case the buying club needs to buy that percentage too. This would then mean Juve could be saying pay us more for their 80% and that could be a sticking point.
Is that fair to say ED?

Ultimately only those around the table know the exact details and the rest is just guess work.

8.) 27 Jul 2016 16:27:18
What page would you be able to explain it on? As I'm genuinely interested in the uprise of these super agents. Cheers for your time, if you decide to provide anything.

{Ed002's Note - Try asking on the European pages but I am not giving any further details in respect of the Pogba situation.}

9.) 27 Jul 2016 17:01:27
One thing is clear. Being a good/ top football agent is a good career choice.

10.) 27 Jul 2016 23:54:38
Sorry Yer man, don't agree, if i owned 20% of a house and it sold for $1 million, i would get $200,000, the buyer wouldn't have to give me an extra $200,000 on top of the $1 million, i don't see why this should be any difference, especially when it looks like Juventus have put an extra 20%-40% and on the fee already.
Unless we already new this, which would make this a 120 million transfer fee and 100 million.
People keep calling it his commission and some people say he owns 20%, if he owns 20% its not commission, from what i understand he asked for 20% of any resale of Pogba as commission when he brokered the deal with Juventus. Which to me should be 20% of the fee paid by Juventus.

11.) 28 Jul 2016 02:21:45
@ed002: I totally understand your reluctance to give information on this page due to repeated instances of people not accepting/ appreciating the info, but there are many on here that acknowledge their ignorance over certain matters and would welcome your input in the hope we'll be a better informed bunch in future.

Deckchairs on the titanic springs to mind, but the info would be very welcome to a significant proportion of readers.

07 Jul 2016 00:05:45
Di Marzio reporting that we have a deal agreed in principle with Pogba. 13 mill a year.

Also we are going in with an offer to Juve of 120 million euros.

Silly money.

Red in Moscow

1.) 07 Jul 2016 00:37:15
It would be silly money if it was our only signing. We've reinforced the defense. Bought an exciting winger and a top drawer striker. Pogba would be the icing on the cake we've already baked! Relax and enjoy it. I'm still skeptical though. This is probably a stunt to force Madrids hand.

2.) 07 Jul 2016 06:50:56
right now barring ed002, di marzio is as reliable as u can get mumbles.

3.) 07 Jul 2016 07:33:14
Its not my money either but we could get Verrati + Kante or Verrati + kroos or Kante+ Matuidi + Kroos for that money or thereabouts -which makes more sense to me and once you off load 3-4 the salaries even out.

I would be delighted with Pogba of course, but I just dread 12-18 months from now the whole " Pogba dreams of madrid" "my client pogba doesn't know where he will be next season" "barcelona is a great club "nonsense from his agent and the tabloids lapping it up - of course 3 bad games and he will be branded a flop anyway.

4.) 07 Jul 2016 08:08:58
Probably staggered payments tho each season, money doesn't seem so extreme once it's like that, you'd not say for example £30m per year is a lot out of a United kitty, when it gets silly is if Pogba leaves in a year or two and we're still paying for him past him leaving tho I'm sure we may sell be paying for ADM for example. I can see why talking money frustrates the Eds in particular cz we find it hard to understand how it may work, I know I do.

5.) 07 Jul 2016 09:26:09
If we can sign Pogba then I am all for it. He's better than Kroos, Kante and Verrati (all of whom may well be unavailable) and is still young and improving. A lot can change in 3-4 years in terms of his future ambitions.

All the same I would be happy with any of the alternatives you listed but would rather the club went with the player that the manager has identified as being what he feels we need.

6.) 07 Jul 2016 09:31:44
Burren Way. I wish it worked like that pal but it doesn't. If you read the other sites there is a lot of information there. Kante wants Champions League football apparently. Kroos is destined for City. He's a player I'd love though.

When we were on top in 2008 we should have been spending big to stay there but whether it was Fergie or the Glazers or both, money was there but not what a club like ours should be spending (relative to what we make) spends. They wouldn't spend the money if they didn't have it!

Regardless if we do sign him or not, it's exciting. It's a lot more believable than Neymar and Ronaldo transfer. This window has been thoroughly professional and if we get Pogba we can realistically put our feet up and let Jose get on with it.

7.) 07 Jul 2016 07:04:08
In forcing Madrids hand I don't see that at all. We as a club clearly want to sign pogba and we aren't playing games here. Very efficient in the transfer window this summer.

8.) 07 Jul 2016 10:27:21
Hmm? Kroos destined for city? . I wouldn't be too sure on that. I think if Real get Pogba, united will surely try and get Kroos.

9.) 07 Jul 2016 10:38:54
Mumbles -very good points .

I just mentioned the 2 or 3 alternatives we have been linked with just to make the point about what could potentially be bought for 105 million - its a shed load on one young player.

However, I back the manager and agree the club seem focused on what is needed and there is a much better vibe because of that than previous seasons - I think JM has had a good look around these last 3 months and had an idea who he wants . i'm liking what i'm seeing.

10.) 07 Jul 2016 10:49:26
Just to say that I am all for the best players joining our club and Pogba is exactly that.

Was just stating the obvious fact that it is silly money. Not complaining, just making an obvious statement.

In regards to the cake analogy, I completely agree that Pogba would be the Icing to go on top.

But on the other hand some people prefer cream instead. Costs less but just as nice lol.

11.) 07 Jul 2016 12:41:30
I really hope Pogba comes to United. For too long we have been buying ok players and as a result we have an ok team. Of course no player is worth 100mil but the value is down to the market and if we don't want to see Barcelona and Real hoovering up all the best players we need to compete in that market.

We need to be bringing in world class players (if we are not producing enough through the academy) otherwise we will not get back to challenging for the league never mind he champions league!
