Hi Ed's have we got any interest in Miralem Pjanic? I think he would be a good addition to the team considering the age for Carrick and Schweinsteiger. He could strike up a great partnership with Schneiderlin. I highly doubt he would be sold in January but he should be on a few clubs radar in the summer.

SSP-MUFC

{Ed004's Note - I haven't seen us linked to him at all. Also not sure he is what we need. He's isn't very athletic but is excellent on the ball. Not sure were his best position is}

1.) 17 Jan 2016 23:16:27
What sort of midfielder do you think we need?

{Ed004's Note - Someone who is dynamic and can take players on such as Gundogan or ideally Pogba but that won't happen}

2.) 18 Jan 2016 12:05:33
Did Martial play with Rodriguez at Monaco - maybe they are good friends.

3.) 18 Jan 2016 12:40:05
Are things that bad that we need to hit the Pjanic button? Lol.

4.) 18 Jan 2016 15:10:33
You could have something there SSP-MUFC as apparently Martial said Man United could have a "surprise" coming soon so maybe Rodriguez could be it?

5.) 18 Jan 2016 15:26:30
Oh for the love of god, the "suprise" was a free signed shirt given away to celebrate him getting a million instagram followers.

No player, no club, no true agent nor anyone connected to any transfer will ever announce something via social media, or even suggest it for that matter.

It could cost them a lot of money, and would be very damaging to their reputation within football.

Social media is useful if you want to know what colour socks they wear on a Tuesday. Or if they have a new phone/ car/ house ect. But never anything regarding transfers.

6.) 18 Jan 2016 07:56:37
Definitely agree on Gundogan Ed, I just get the feeing he wants to go to Spain.

{Ed004's Note - I reckon there's a good chance he will sign for Barcelona}

7.) 18 Jan 2016 19:59:01
Shappy did hazard not announce his move to Chelsea via twitter? I get your point in just nit picking lol ;)

8.) 18 Jan 2016 23:34:56
Pjanic wouldn't be the type of midfielder when need, he plays a similar position to Ander ie no10, he more of Centre Midfielder who likes to push forward and make shots, if he was bought, he would have to play the AM role as defensively he not the best

We need a box to box midfielder, Pogba like or Roy Keane, someone who can grind a game, the problem is not many exist these days, United miss the ball years ago when they should of bought the closest player to Keane in Daniele De Rossi (or attempt to)

9.) 19 Jan 2016 09:05:24
Agree shane, De Rossi would have been a brilliant replacement and suited the league - Pjanic, as classy as he is, is too similar to Mata in the sense he would get knocked around and has no real burst of acceleration.

Still believe a Veratti/ Scholes type player is what we need so we can push Morgan into the box to box role.

10.) 19 Jan 2016 09:44:38
Schneiderlin is the box to box midfielder we have been missing since Keane left. We also have several players who can be a creative midfielder, Herrera, Mata, Rooney and Pereira.

If we are missing anything it is a proper defensive midfielder/ deeplying playmaker. Carrick is getting on, Schweinsteiger doesn't appear the have the legs anymore and Blind is excellent back up, he has an excellent understanding of the game, and he has probably the best passing range at the club, but for the EPL maybe he lacks a bit of strength and pace.

Although with Schneiderlin and Herrera alongside him I think it would be a minimal problem.

I don't think a midfielder is vital either now or in the summer. What is needed is defensive reinforcements which will allow us to push Blind into midfield which is his best position.

A CB and a LB now would be good. A RW would be nice but with Lingard, Pereira, Januzaj, Mata and Depay in the squad we don't lack the numbers just the quality/ consistency.

A CB and LB now, then another CB RW and ST in the summer. With maybe a RB if Darmian wants to move on.

11.) 19 Jan 2016 12:08:45
I have a sneaky feeling Morgan is going to become the favourite player for many of us. I really like the look of him. LVG has actually bought reasonably well in my opinion. Just plays them out of position and sold too many players. My biggest regret was selling Bambi.

12.) 19 Jan 2016 22:50:23
Wijnaldom is the midfielder we need imo. He brings a bit of every thing to the party😀.

13.) 20 Jan 2016 00:30:41
Manchester United tried buying De Rossi the summer 2013, their offer was rejected, and interest dropped when the player himself did not wanna move to United. He has later said it would be a "suicide" joining United and that it was never going to happen.

31 Aug 2015 13:40:41
Can any of the ed's shed some light on why we are letting januzaj join dortmund on loan. Are we expecting to sign someone else after martial. Also, are united looking to bring in a CB before tomorrows deadline. Atm garay looks the only reasonably priced CB around to try and sign.

SSP-MUFC

{Ed004's Note - No idea why he was loaned tbh and don't think so}

1.) 31 Aug 2015 17:41:17
is it a loan with the option to buy?

2.) 31 Aug 2015 17:42:08
The only reason to loan is if he's not going to get game time. Hopefully that means we're getting another attacking midfielder/winger.

3.) 31 Aug 2015 18:08:14
Yeah, Anthony Martial - he can play on the wing! Well, that's where I think LVG will play him! He often plays people OUT of position!

We seriously need defensive reinforcements as well?

4.) 31 Aug 2015 18:42:41
No martial is being bought to play alongside smalling so there's pace to bring the ball out.

5.) 31 Aug 2015 19:32:09
To be fair Martial has played more as winger than a striker, only last season he played more central.

6.) 31 Aug 2015 20:09:22
Knowing how LVG likes to do things Martial (no pressure lad) is our new cb!

02 Jan 2015 00:54:14
Do any of the ed's have information on the availability of varane from madrid. And if so are United interested in him?

SSP-MUFC

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he wasn't available or Chelsea would be adding him. Jose loves the lad.}

28 Jan 2014 13:47:33
Hi ed's do you know if united will bid for fernando reges of porto by the end of the window. And do you think we could get another player in by friday.

Many thanks

SSP-MUFC

{Ed002's Note - Maybe.}

27 Jan 2014 10:55:44
Hi ed's, do you think the cabaye rumours are legit and if so could you update us on the clubs position with this. Also what is the latest on our pursuit of cb. Dante or garay?

SSP-MUFC

{Ed002's Note - PSG will bid again for Cabaye who wants to join them. Newcastle has already moved to replace him. Dante is something that I can't help you with - I don't see him moving this week. Garay can still be done.}

Are Manchester United looking at any more players for Left Back now that Reguillon is heading to Spurs? I agree with us not putting in the clauses Madrid wanted but surely we could have moved in a week or so earlier to get the deal done before Spurs could have an opportunity to put an offer on the table as well.

It seems the club just enjoy playing the long game and taking the fun out of all transfers. Van de Beek was efficient but I would put that down to Van der Sars / Ajax's proactivity more than ours.

Not sure what the situation is with Telles after his representatives were in England a few weeks ago. Would appreciate any response from the Ed's on the latest info.

I doubt there are any alternatives available for a reasonable price except for Telles. We need someone to seriously challenge Shaw or cover when he is injured (which will happen) . can't have a right footed right back in Williams playing on the wrong side as regular cover. The end of last season exposed that. The kid needs to be back on his favoured side covering for AWB.

It's worrying now as it seems all we want to do is focus on dragging out the Sancho saga.

1.) 16 Sep 2020 22:35:45
I wonder if all our transfer “news” is purely papers trying to sell copy rather than us blundering our way around the market. We are the biggest news in club football so anything we do sells.

An alternative view maybe that we will no longer be held to ransom in the buying for selling of players. Who knows.

2.) 16 Sep 2020 23:19:59
We have known what we needed months and months ago.
Another poor window with umteen excuses again.
Long season ahead we will be in a battle to finish 4th.

3.) 16 Sep 2020 23:50:11
I don't get this moaning from some fans . We gave a new contract to Matic and as Ed002 said a holding midfielder is not a priority for this transfer window, center back is not priority too. I think left back wasnt too.
Our coach, last months, showed us (with not playing the squad players and with good results ofcourse) that he has a clearly (and good) first eleven and his problem is squad players who didn't trust .
This summer the targets are crystal clear i think, a midfielder like Grealish (thanks god we took VDB instead) and Sancho. Two players that will give us more quality and more options in the middle and up front. Another sighning except these two positions would be a plus.
But now some people come here moaning because there are some names in the pappers in other positions that we maybe want them or maybe not . And because some people have their preferences which are different to what the coach wants.
So in reality the problem is instead of moaning about the team the Glazers and Woodward you should moan about the coach and his team. He is the one who don't understand how important an attacking left back is, or how important a top holding midfielder is and instead he wants to throw so much money to Sancho instead of 2 or 3 positions. In reality he is your problem, but you don't want to be there so you are moaning about others.

4.) 17 Sep 2020 06:01:27
Herrera, what you call as moaning is nothing more than a reflection of the frustration on how our transfer dealings have been since Woodward and co have stepped in.

"So in reality the problem is instead of moaning about the team the Glazers and Woodward you should moan about the coach and his team. " so no talking about the team, the Glazers or Woodward. Only the coaching staff is responsible - really? How did you come to the conclusion on what Ole really wants or not?

We have seen over the past couple of years on how we have dealt with player recruitment even with experienced managers - signing players looking for a final payday, signing 2nd/ 3rd choice players, giving contracts to players who should have long been gone, dragging transfer negotiations which take forever, not extending key players contracts or leaving it too late and end up losing them on a free. Whom would you blame for all of this mess?

The manager and coaching team can only work with what they got and can only ask for players they think will improve the squad and it's up to our skilled negotiators and whoever is dealing with transfers to get it done in a timely manner and allow the manager and coaching staff to do their jobs and get results on the pitch. Fair enough if the manager fails to get the results even after strengthening the team with sufficient quality and depth then he is to be criticized and needs to go.

5.) 17 Sep 2020 06:48:39
The manager has to be backed in the transfer window before criticizing.

What do you think about last summer's transfer window?
No creative player was signed, sold our top scorer without replacing.
Herrera was not replaced, bullying clubs by making cheap offers for players etc, .
We haven't signed a top RW for years, that too under any manager.

So there's only one thing common here, which is the amateur decision makers.

6.) 17 Sep 2020 08:23:35
TrueRedDevil also factor in how we failed to address various positions on the pitch for far too long - Midfield, RB, ST. Half a dozen defenders who need moving on, Pogba wanting to leave for ages and we being stubborn to hold onto him and his agent just abusing Man United. The biggest of them all is that we still got an injury ridden Jones still at the club for almost a decade and we are not able to move him on.

7.) 17 Sep 2020 08:38:43
Exactly LPU, We turned down an offer around 25m for Rojo from Everton last year. It just highlights the poor decisions.

8.) 17 Sep 2020 11:41:26
Very much doubt we turned down 25mil for Rojo. Even United aren’t that stupid surely.

9.) 17 Sep 2020 12:57:55
But the club had two clear targets, AM and Sancho yet some are moaning because we don't buy a center back or a left back etc, these positions are plus.
I don't say we are not amateurs.
I say that these were the priorities for coach, an AM and right winger (Sancho) . Ole is the one who can't insert a proactive style to our team. Befause if he had this (a proactive style) his priorities would be different.
He only knows that way, the creatively from creative players thought the middle and fast players to interchange and to counter attack up front. So with this as a fact its not coincidence his priorities are AM and right winger.
You are moaning about the team who tries to prioritize the positions the manager and his stuff wants. You don't want to go there, it must be always be Woodys fault.

Hi Eds,

Apart from Sancho are there any other players that United are actively looking at to bring in this summer? Are there any negotiations ongoing with other clubs?

I've seen rumours on Alex Telles (LB), Gabriel Maghaeles (CB) and Van de Beek (CM) . Based on what I have read I don't think we are too interested in these players.

Apologies if you have covered this before, but the only 'serious' interest I have seen from the club is towards Sancho and Grealish, very unlikely to get both let alone Sancho.

SSP-MUFC

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts - it is all there.}

02 Jan 2016 22:07:45
Hi Ed's,

Do we have any interest in alex texeira from shaktar? He seems a good player when I have seen him in the champions league and he has an impressive goal scoring record with shaktar over the last 2 years. I am not sure how he compares to felipe anderson but he could be another player we should look at.

SSP-MUFC

{Ed002's Note - He is moving to Chelsea.}

31 Jan 2014 16:12:51
Every1 needs to calm down about not buying a cm, who is available. Kroos he's probably waiting till the summer to see if they give him a new contract or not. Fernando is the only realistic one. And even though dm said he thinks that's it for this window who here expected the contraeo loan that nearly went through in the last minutes in summer. If something pops up i'm sure the club will try to act. No point saying we will buy someone today and it doesn't happen. Or do a panic buy. Everyone wait till the summer and then judge the manager and chief exec on signings.

Hi ed's I've heard rumours that united have bid for mangala and enquired about fernando. Is this true?

Many thanks

1.) It's City according to Sly that have made enquiries about Manalga (spelling)!

I agree with ish1982. The defence is not as bad as everyone makes it look out to be. We wouldn't be talking about a CB signing now if we created and scored more like we should. The top end of the pitch is not scoring enough. rvp, falcao, rooney, di maria and mata. A united team with that talent should be averaging 2 goals a game in the league not 36goals in 22games.

If we are willing to spend 30mill on a CB like Laporte then we should atleast look to tempt madrid with a 30mill bid for Varane or put in a sizeable offer for Coleman as a new RB.
