Ed002,

Any truth in the Andros Townsend rumours? a lot of official sources are making the suggestion.
He's good, but not Mata quality. TBH I can't see anyone else coming in this window and most of Moyes travels have been arranging summer targets.

Mata has been a massive boost to the team and fans, i'd rather we held out til the summer to get our top targets.

Un1ted4Ever

{Ed002's Note - It would never happen.}

1.) Thank god for that Ed, I have never wanted you to say we wouldn't get a player so much.

2.) A nonsense rumour the price we would have to pay for complete mediocrity would be astronomical thank god its a non starter.

Sounds like Cabaye is off to PSG. i'm glad if its true. He is not worth the money they are asking and i'd much rather Vidal was on his way to OT! C'mon Moyes, I have faith!

Un1ted4Ever

1.) THANK YOU! Only person that seems to have this opinion! 20 odd million for a 28 year old? Way too high!

2.) Not all of us think Cabaye is a superstar. Very good player but not worthy of a Utd shirt.

3.) PSG need to keep their homegrown quota up, hence the reason they are buying Cabaye to replace Matuidi. There was zero evidence that MU wanted Cabaye, just some plum with a Twitter account taking people for mugs.

4.) 23m is too much for Cabbaye imo he's a good player but not world class

5.) 28 Jan 2014 17:48:55
In Moyes we trust.

6.) A quality prem tested midfielder but not worthy of a utd shirt? I wonder were that leaves fellaini then if its about wasting money

Ed002 says quite a lot not to worry about the money side of things because it just gets confusing.

I agree with a lot of people saying the fees being thrown around are ridiculous. But saying our club should only spend this on a player and any more they should back away from any deals I feel is also ridiculous.

I mean. If we need player "x" and we can afford him, we should buy him. Simples.

If you look back over the last few seasons at the fees and wages we have paid players and other clubs it really is a staggering amount of cash. But even after doing this we are now back at the top of the list and are the wealthiest club in the world. Go figure, eh?

Just to go over my first statement again. Don't worry about the money, the club have it covered and it will just confuse you.

I know where you're coming from, mate, but I'm just not entirely comfortable with the idea of paying way over the odds for a player. If we do it constantly, we get a sh1tty reputation as the club that will always pay over the top and other clubs will take that into account every time we fancy one of their players. I know it's not my money, but it really puts us in a weak negotiating position if the other team knows we're a pushover.

2.) 18 Jul 2017 20:57:14
Thanks for the reply and opinion Noucamp99. Guess I didn't think of it like that. But my main point was to forget about the money. It gets really confusing and what with add ons etc, and do we ever really known what the club paid for a player? (I think you'd be even more uncomfortable if we did)

As for being put in a weak negotiating position, I'm not so sure. We seem to be in bed with Mendes. Surely that gives us more clout than other clubs?

But I am getting myself into something I have no interest in. The money. And this is of no disrespect to you. But I just like to watch the football and be entertained. that's been a hard thing to come by these last few seasons but thankfully with JM coming in, last season showed glimmers of hope.
I wouldn't consider myself as a "shiny new player" kinda guy because half (actually, all. apart from the obvious ones) the players we are in for, I'd never even heard of. IMO a competing team becomes greater than the sum of its parts when the manager gets it right and the stars align and it doesn't always need to be world class players to achieve this. I just put my faith in the club and manager (because, end of the day that's all I can do) that they know what they are doing with the players they go after and the money they spend.

Hopefully that makes sense. If it doesn't its because I am drunk on rum. I not coping well with the sad loss of my dear mum, so please be kind.

3.) 19 Jul 2017 01:02:53
How does it get confusing? The headline figure is usually known and we can make a judgement from there.

{Ed001's Note - because the headline figure is false. So is any judgement made from it.}

4.) 19 Jul 2017 02:27:57
Sorry to hear about your mum, fella.

5.) 19 Jul 2017 03:13:15
I think the amounts being paid on transfers and wages are obscene. It's time people realise that directly or indirectly its us the fans who ultimately pay via match tickets, programmes, TV subscriptions, purchasing products or services from associated companies. I know I sound old fashioned but this insanity has to stop. It's already corroded the bond between players and supporters. There won't be one club players like Giggs. I hate seeing players kiss the badge then a year later move on a do so with a new team. Young lads earn fortunes not based on performance but potential which rarely is realised. How we limit this excess I do not know but if we do not ultimately there will be a reckoning and the house of cards will tumble. It's immoral too to pay such stupid amounts when worldwide the average supporters struggle to provide the basics of life for their family.

Eds, have you any news on Rojo's permit?
Has to be registered by noon today so I am lead to believe, but can't find anything official about it.
Thanks

Un1ted4Ever

{Ed002's Note - No. He won't get a work permit until the issue in Argentina is resolved.}

1.) Wow. This will lead to absolute muppetry if the work permit is not obtained before the window closes.

Any idea on how United are looking to avoid the situation Eds? Are they confident it will be done in the next 3 days, considering its going to be almost 2 weeks since the transfer?

Cheers!

{Ed002's Note - I have zero interest in the matter - I have explained what I know.}

2.) He's still oviously a man utd player, he'll just won't be allowed to play until after its sorted which sounds like were see his debut after the international break. I wudnt panic at all!

3.) Guess I'll be keeping Blackett in my dream team this weekend then!

4.) Did lvg not say rojo was back in argentina trying to sort it out

5.) 29 Aug 2014 16:17:47
Said he was at the Argentinian embassy in Spain jred.

6.) 29 Aug 2014 16:19:39
Ed002 - What happens if he does not have a work permit by the end of the transfer window?

{Ed002's Note - I imagine the club will look to send him on loan somewhere.}

25 Aug 2014 08:47:33
Juan Cuadrado has admitted that he is not sure where he will wind up playing his football this season, claiming he is not in control of his future amid the transfer speculation surrounding him.

Surely the player must have some say in where he will end up playing? How come he is not in control of his future?. Bizarre.

Un1ted4Ever

1.) How can someone disagree with a statement of fact?
delusional!

2.) He probably knows where he wants to be playing, but doesn't know if the clubs can reach an agreement.

08 Aug 2014 12:11:45
Vermaelen to barca for 15m by the looks of it.

Eds is there any official interest in Mehdi Benatia from MU?

and have we bid for Blind?

Thanks

Un1ted4Ever

{Ed002's Note - Why not read the posts. Try and avoid making up terms like "official interest". Use the search engine.}

1.) I heard there might be some unofficial interest - but officially there's no word as to whether there's anything official just yet. Maybe try Twitter?

Does anyone know if there's a possibility we could get griezmann in the January window? or to have any chance it'll have to be next summer? I know it will be difficult for AM to find cover in January, but could this have been arranged now, for a January deal to happen?

So, yesterday it was a done deal, according to you. Now the deal has been rejected?

Think you need to work on a new source other than twitter!

Id be very happy with no more signings today and Vidal to come to OT in the summer.
Hopefully Moyes has learnt his lesson of last minute signings, with Fellani.

The Mail have reported a 25m bid for Kroos, and he wants 150k. Whether it its a reliable source and will be accepted is another matter.

Supasub,
i will discount everything Wayne says. The only thing he says about Cabaye is that his 'source' has no info on the matter. And his source seems to be the only person in the world that knows Mata is a done and dusted deal. which it isn't. yet. His source is just scouring the internet like the rest of us.

I agree with what you say about not getting 4th or better will be catastrophic, there are no 2 ways about it. But I still believe Moyes will be given more time to rebuild United.
SAF didn't leave because he wanted too. He clearly knew that there needed to be a massive overhaul to the squad this season, and this would be the perfect opportunity for a new manager to make their mark on United, because he had to leave sometime, and no better time than winning your 20th title!

OK, sorry DSG. Reading struggling and the best teams in the world, in the same sentence, just didn't sit right. But yeah I guess I understand you're point. Although I don't see the divide happening quite how you suggest.

Noucamp99. Now I am not getting on your case or nowt. But didn't you just tell me how you felt uncomfortable about over paying for peeps?
just saying like ;)
But yeah, if we got the money and can afford him even though I doubt we will. Go for it!

half a billion for 5 years. I'll take my own advice and forget about the money. unfathomable.
