Didn't think we'd be seeing any rumours so soon after the window shut - but slyspurts are reporting that a deal for Cleverley to go on loan to Aston Villa was agreed late last night and that the club are confident it went through in time.

redseven

1.) Hi Eds, its not easy to understand the terms of the Falcao loan deal. The option to buy for £50m next year dosent make any financial sense for a 29 year old. Surely EdWW will turn round and spend £50m elsewhere? I hope that's not the case, because i'd rather support the player properly in the next 4-5 years.

Have Monaco gone to any lengths to protect themselves from Falcao's depreciation over the next year? The £6m loan fee and £25million -( rvp's price at 29) next year is £30m.
£10m less than the ~£40m they can still demand at 28 years of age.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get in to the finances and someone has been misleading you with these numbers.}

2.) Lets hope so.Useless never utd quality

3.) FA have approved it. Option for Villa to buy for £7.5m in January.

Guillem Balague seems to think that there is a deal in place which will see Negredo head to Valencia on loan and that City will look to sign Falcao to replace him. It's unclear at this point whether Real intend to increase their offer (which was originally a loan deal with a view to a permanent move) or whether Chico is being targeted as a cheap alternative.

Tancredi Palmeri seems to be the one reporting that we've put in a bid for Falcao - although he has been wrong on numerous transfers in the past. According to him, a loan deal was agreed between Real and Monaco but City came in with a bid of €40m upfront which lead to Monaco going back on their deal with Real. We then put in a bid for the player earlier this evening.

Apparently the player has ruled out moves to Arsenal and Juventus already and prefers a move to Real Madrid (he's mentioned his dream of playing for Real on numerous occasions). I suspect that Real will end up matching Manchester City's offer and he will end up there - but this is certainly an interesting scenario for tomorrow.

I'm not sure if there's any truth to any of this and am just passing on what Tancredi Palmeri and Guillem Balague have said online and on Revista De La Liga respectively.

Ed002 - Do you know if we still have a interest in Cavani? I'd be very surprised if we moved for him - but with us potentially looking at signing a striker I figure he may be an option.

redseven

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

Aston Villa have bid for Tom Cleverley and Crystal Palace want to take Zaha on loan with a view to buy.

redseven

1.) I have a real good feeling we will sign two more midfielders this window. Many players leaving.

Zaha - Cleverley - Kagawa - Hernandez - Welbeck - Anderson - Lindegaard - Rafael - Varela - Fellaini - Vermijl - W.Keane.

Can we find them all a club though? Not long left now and so much to do. Doubt all will go, many will depend on incoming players too. Then there's the loan outs too.

2.) Cleverly is a very Aston Villa type player

3.) Yh
Zaha has left for Crystal Palace now on loan

Hopefully he does well!

4.) 28 Aug 2014 12:25:15
Redseven. U must take this opportunity to drive cleverly to villa park by yourself. Just to make it sure that he won't come back without signing there contract

5.) I will give cleverly a piggy back to villa park myself and strap him to the villa park gates and throw away the key

6.) We will sign Vidal and Blind.

7.) 28 Aug 2014 13:10:30
Syd I highly doubt all of those players will leave Fellani is injured so unfortunately isn't moving, I hope rafeal stays unless we can get another RB in which I doubt. i'd keep welbeck due to his age he can stil develop loan would be good!

Who do you think we could get syd hope we get a midfielder and cb those two positions are i'm urgent need of attention if we want champions leauge this season. Who are our cb targets?

8.) Mo21, there will be a massive clearout, that has been confirmed by EW. Also with only around 40 games (Max) left to play and no UCL money, MU will want to cut costs and there's no point having players in the squad that won't play.

9.) It's fine saying that United want rid, Syd, but if no-one wants them, they'll have to stay.

10.) SOSM, exactly, couldn't agree more.

11.) Talk is that Villa's bid of £8m has now been accepted.

I feel sorry for the lad given the amount of stick he's gotten over the last few years - but ultimately he is not a Manchester United player. I think he will do well at Villa and wish him all the best for the future.

12.) Also worth noting that the #23 shirt is now vacant. Hopefully it's taken up by another #23!

27 Aug 2014 20:20:21
Alonso will be moving from Real to Bayern. What are the chances that Real will move for Vidal to replace him?

It would be the ultimate kick in the teeth if Real ended up using some of the Di Maria money to fund a move for the player we actually needed. I suspect we'll find out soon enough. Unlike us - Real get things done quickly.

redseven

1.) Would they replace Alonso having already signed Kroos earlier in the window? Is Alonso leaving because of the Kroos signing or are RM selling Alonso and looking to replace him?

2.) That really would stick it in and break it off especially with Guarin going to Juve(allegedly)

3.) That's probably why they give Modric a new deal last week, so when they sign Vidal he doesn't kick up a fuss and try and force a move.

4.) Deyno - It's hard to say. Alonso is getting on a bit now and the word is that he asked to leave. He signed a new three year contract last season and he's been a fantastic player for them - so I imagine they will have wanted to keep him. There's a chance it's because he was worried about his game time next season but I imagine he wanted to get one more big contract in before hanging up his boots.

Assuming that Bale, Ronaldo, Rodriguez and a striker (Falcao) are going to be first choice - RM currently have Modric, Kroos, Illarramendi and Khedira battling it out for 2 midfield spots (I think Isco would be back-up for Rodriguez).

Khedira looks like he'll leave in the next twelve months and so I expect he'll be used as backup rather than being first choice. Illarramendi made a fair few appearances last season but wasn't particularly impressive and I don't see him having a long term future with the club despite his hefty price-tag. That leaves Kroos and Modric as first choice and adequate cover in Khedira and Illarramendi.

I don't think Real need Vidal - but I can very much see them signing him. It's a very 'Real' thing to do. The thought of Falcao, Bale, Ronaldo, Rodriguez, Kroos and Vidal in the same team is frightening though. Probably the best and deadliest front six ever assembled.

5.) I thought that money is going to the falcao transfer

6.) Pretty sure the money they get from us is going on the falcao move

7.) I would not be at all surprised if they take Falcao on loan for the season for a fee with a view to buying him outright next season. Either way Falcao will not cost £64m. I expect he could be signed for between £40m and £50m. We will see shortly.

Sly Sports reporting that if City were to receive a Champions League ban this season and Arsenal were to win the Europa League, we would be given City's Champions league spot.

Not sure how much merit there is to this idea as it's seemingly new ground and City will no doubt appeal which would probably push the ban into the following season, but that would be embarrassing if it came to pass.

Don't get me wrong, if City are found to have cheated the system, they should be punished, but to be playing in the Champions League next season based on our season would be farcical.

redseven

1.) 15 May 2019 13:10:43
Cheated or not, we do not deserve to be in CL with this timid mindset when playing. I would rather give it to Wolves who are far more adventurous and a greater unit as a team.

2.) 15 May 2019 17:30:24
Wolves finished below us. If City went out and someone else was to be awarded it, we would deserve it. The league is meaningless otherwise.

Disclaimer: This does not mean I think we're a great team or that we deserve Champions League over the teams above us.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is not going to happen and there is no precedent for this.}

3.) 15 May 2019 19:29:33
That’s why I said “if”. I was dealing with the hypothetical. Of course it’s not actually going to happen.

It's shaping up to be a very interesting summer. The only players that I can say will remain at the club with any certainty are Sanchez due to his terrible performances and ridiculous wages and Dalot, Lindelof, McTominay, Shaw, Romero and Lingard. Fred will probably get another season to prove himself too, but other than that it seems to be fair game.

Martial is unlikely to go but could still be on his way due to his poor performances and attitude this season and Valencia, Bailey, Rojo and Darmian seem to have been earmarked as surplus. If we really want to be playing at a high level, Young, Jones and Smalling should follow.

Mata and Herrera seem likely to leave on free transfers and Rashford, DDG, Lukaku and Pogba seem to all want out.

I expect we will hold onto a few of those players so as not to upset the balance of the squad any more than is needed, but there are 14 first team players that I wouldn't be at all surprised to see leave. That's insane. I think we're in for some dark times (more so than the ones prior to SAF leaving) .

What's more worrying is that there isn't a single player at the club who I would genuinely be disappointed to lose.

For the longest time that was DDG, but he clearly doesn't want to be here anymore and it's starting to affect his performances. Likewise, players like Pogba, Martial and Rashford have the potential to be world beaters, but due to their poor attitudes look unlikely to realize that potential at United. The rest, as nice as they may be, haven't done enough to suggest they will ever be as good as some of the great players that we've seen over the past few decades. Maybe VL - but it will take more than a good six months to convince me.

How has this been allowed to happen in just five or six years?

redseven

1.) 25 Apr 2019 16:40:27
At this stage of the season no one knows our best starting 11 not even the manager, and last night an hour before the teams were announced, our starting lineup was leaked not that it made a difference but where did it come from.
And just to dampen things that little bit more the first time since 1962 we lost 7 out of 9 games and I bet redman can't even remember that.
Players, managers, chairman none of them at the races.
All I know is that it's going to be a long road ahead.
Anyone have something positive to add, I'd love to hear it.

2.) 25 Apr 2019 17:02:41
Bailly is not for sale but the rest of yhe players you are suggesting are sellable.

3.) 25 Apr 2019 17:05:30
Agree with all of your post apart from having lingard with the remains. I honestly do not see what he offers us, he doesn’t score he doesn’t create. He runs around a lot I do see that.

4.) 25 Apr 2019 16:52:06
whatever end. Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing? They have passed like rain on the mountains. Like wind in the meadow. The days have gone down in the West, behind the hills, into Shadow. How did it come to this?

5.) 25 Apr 2019 17:50:59
Now mort thanks, I like that.

6.) 25 Apr 2019 19:01:59
We are not in a good spot that's for sure.
But every cloud has a silver lining.
This summer we should rid ourselves if at least 6 or 8 of this squad.
No top 4 ddg and pogs are gone for sure. Valencia mata herrera will have no contracts and surely rojo and darmian will be sold.
As you say there are question marks over lukaku jones bailly and sanchez.
We simply can't sell everyone this summer.
As my friend leahy says its going to be a long road. I can't wait for the season to end so that we can begin a new one. Like 99.99% of you all i'm signed up for life and it doesn't matter how difficult things become we will always stand up for o your club.
I want to see the club wrestled back from these waste of space players that play for themselves think only of themselves and have no respect for anybody but themselves.

7.) 25 Apr 2019 19:43:27
Leahy

Ha, no I don’t remember 1962, only from 1968. However, I am surprised the stat is from before the relegation season and the couple of seasons running up to it.

8.) 25 Apr 2019 20:47:59
September and October 1962 redman,
I'm surprised as well redman.

Leahy

Ha, Lots of stories, the seventies were so so different for Manchester as a city and the club. I will never forget being in the stands when Law back heeled that ball for City in 1974 or later in the seventies walking down the tunnel (when it was in the middle of the pitch) right behind Steve Coppell (who was last out) after I was let in to the dressing room area. You could hear the roar of the crowd as the players would hear it.
Perhaps many of us should meet up, over to the Ed’s to arrange, may need bouncers for some though!

{Ed007's Note - Ed001 & Ed002 and some of the lads from the Liverpool site hold an annual charity match that anyone can take part in but it sounds a bit like a bunch of Suvern Softies meet up to drink shandies, compare their fake tan, EA7 clothes, BMWs and shout "BREXIT MEANS BREXIT" - I wasn't invited after I asked if we could sing The Rebs and bring pyro. #NoPyroNoParty
Seriously though if any of you want to get in contact with each other for pint Ed033 (The Pimp Daddy) can put you in contact with each other. Ed004 can be the bouncer, he's from across the water and on the steroids.}

Didn't know that mort even though I watched it, we need no bouncers we are all grown men, well I seen Ken and he is only about 4ft5😊,
But it would be nice if we arranged something for next season.

I wqnted to play but think i might be too late for this year. Best of luck guys to those involved.

31 Aug 2017 09:03:05
Anybody looking for something to brighten their day should go and check out the Liverpool page.

Just in case the fact that many of their fans still consider the club to be the best team in England wasn't a clear indicator of their inability to count; there's an interesting thread discussing how to fit their new signings into the team in which somebody suggests a 3-5-4 formation - going into far too much detail for it to be a joke.

The icing on the cake is where another poster points out the idiocy by questioning whether 12 players would now be allowed by the F. A.

redseven

1.) 31 Aug 2017 11:10:39
I think the 12 players comment was a joke something your shower don't seem to quite comprehend. the original comment was indeed idiocy at its finest 😂.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 12:09:07
What a useless post by redseven. The replies to that thread were all sarcastic because one poster could not count. Why do u say 'their'? Or do u feel the need to call other people idiots or illiterate just because they support LFC? You wanna entertain yourself, go out and see what the outside world has to offer.
Oh yeah, and no LFC fan considers LFC to be the best in England. We just expect to challenge for the title if we sign Lemar and VVD, otherwise a top4 finish looks the best bet. Get your facts right before spouting dog turd.

3.) 31 Aug 2017 12:43:04
Wow feeling sore there boys. Is it the realisation of almost 30 years without a league title sinking in. No challenge this season either.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 13:16:35
John Barnes; the 12 players comment was a joke - but the fact that the poster had once again failed to use basic addition (3 + 5 + 4 + a goalkeeper is 13) was anything but intentional!

5.) 31 Aug 2017 14:52:47
If the sign vvd then they can challenge. But city and Chelsea are better.
Aoc signing is a joke and especially at that price.

10 Jun 2017 13:00:44
Am I the only one worried about the weaknesses across our squad at the moment and the number of signings needed to get us close to the level of Europe's best?

With Zlat and Rooney leaving - we desperately need to sign a number nine (one could even argue that we were in need of another one last season even before the aforementioned left the club) - and even then, looking at their performances under JM, I wouldn't be overly confident having just Rash and Tony M available were the new signing to pick up an injury.

I've read some people on here suggesting that signing both Morata and Belotti wouldn't be the worst idea in the world and am inclined to agree (perhaps not on those signings in particular - but that having 4 options up top wouldn't be such a bad thing considering 2 of them are often played out wide) .

Our midfield needs work too. We currently lack a real out and out wide player - which if we're going to play with wingers - leaves us needing two (one at the very least) .

If we're going to play with a narrow midfield and rely on the wing backs for width instead, I think we need to start thinking about a new right back (Jose doesn't seem to rate Darmian and Tony V is getting older and not great in the final third) and a new left back seems to be on the clubs shopping list already (Shaw hasn't been the same since his injury and Jose just doesn't seem to fancy him) .

The centre of our midfield is in decent shape although I'd like to see a defensive minded midfielder come in to allow Pogba to play a little further up the pitch and reduce our reliance on the wig (whose better suited to elbow boxing than he is football) .

Rojo, Smalling and Jones are far too inconsistent and Blind should be considered cover at best - so I think we need a new CB too (and looking at our injury problems last season Is be very surprised if Jose isn't on the lookout for one) .

Assuming we play a narrow 4-3-3 with inverted wingers - that leaves us needing 5 signings (6 if DDG leaves) to plug all of the gaps.

redseven

1.) 10 Jun 2017 14:31:52
Cb will be lindelof he is also an excellent right back. Morata appears to be close but we have been here before! Perisic looks like the winger he can also play left wing back and left back but is better as a winger.
Fabhino for dm is the clear target he can also play right back.
Belotti would be a real bonus but imo if we sign him i think martial or mata could be sold to help balance the books.
If wig goes we could well move for matuidi but i doubt it.
Left back is a concern mendy looks set for city or chelsea rose is a long shot but possible or a young Spanish Lad martins.
Ibra rooney smalling blind and darmian i think will be sold and maybe 1 or 2 of mata shaw wig martial depending on our success at achieving our targeted signings.

Appreciate this update. A little worried at the lack of strikers on this list considering there’s a possibility that Rashford and/ or Lukaku could leave. I appreciate there are quite a few goal scorers who play in other positions linked with us, but I was really hoping to see us sign a top striker this summer. To be fair though, we need players all over the pitch.

Over the last 4 seasons, the only players who have outscored him are Kane and Aguero. Age may be catching up to him, but he’s still looked sharp whenever I’ve watched him play this season (admittedly that hasn’t been often) . Given his age and the fact that he stayed with them a few years back when Arsenal wanted him, I don’t think the club would stand in his way or try to block it because this summer really would be his last chance to go to a top club (assuming you can still call us that and that that ship hasn’t already sailed) . They also need to free up wages and bring in a bit of cash if they want to make Tielemans’ deal permanent.

I’m not sure there are many experienced quality strikers in the League that aren’t playing for our top 6 rivals. Vardy is the only one, who for me, really fits the bill. Maybe Chicarito, but he hasn’t looked great since leaving us. Wilson, King and Jimenez haven’t looked bad this season, but none of them have scored more than Vardy nor have they demonstrated their ability to score in the top flight consistently.

You’d take a player that has done absolutely nothing to prove himself at the highest level over one who has outscored Lukaku in the Premier League over the past four seasons and would likely cost us very little? Considering how inconsistent Rashford and Martial are, the idea of starting next season with just Rashford, Martial and Greenwood doesn’t exactly strike me as a good one. I suppose if his name was Vardinho and he was going to cost us £150m you’d think otherwise.

Got to echo DSG’s question here. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that Ole has a ‘style’. The way that we played for 95% of the game time under Ole was like a poor imitation of Joses style. Given that RL was signed specifically to fit that style, I’m not sure how anybody can say that RL doesn’t fit it. When he plays, he scores goals. I think the real problem is that Ole just doesn’t like him for whatever reason. If that’s the case I wouldn’t like to see him sold as I don’t see Ole sticking around past Christmas. Letting Lukaku go without signing a replacement would be yet another huge mistake by the club as he is our best striker by some margin.

A business needs to remain profitable for it to remain a worthwhile investment. The Glazers will either bleed us dry or realize that if the on pitch success doesn’t return soon the club’s value will start to dwindle and be forced to do something about. I have to say it seems like they are trying to do something about it but failing miserably.
