Thoughts on reports from Spain saying utd have signed James from real? Another number 10.

tom17

1.) 01 May 2017 22:12:33
Gaitan signed at least four times, is James the new Gaitan?

2.) 01 May 2017 23:43:27
I hope so, because he is so overrated, we don't need another number 10.

3.) 02 May 2017 05:08:53
Agreed Remanutd.
Not a position we need to strengthen in and very overrated.

Hi ed001 hope your well. Thanks for the information on United's future plans for the youth set up. Another poster briefly mentioned about thinking lvg's input in these youth plans are one of the reasons he is still in the job. May I ask for your opinion on this? and what you believe is the best decision for United going forward?
ed002's views about putting future plans ahead of the present made me think about my own opinions on lvg. I would like to see blanc come in and be given time, that doesn't look like happening as ed002 has hinted towards the juve manager if lvg sees out his time.
A bit of a long shot but if you have any info on utds suppose bid for the atletico Madrid midfielder his name escapes me could you pass that on as I believe it is a position in which we need strengthening.
Thankyou.

tom17

{Ed001's Note - it is certainly a part of the reasoning for him staying, as the club know they need a rebuild and not a quick patch. Like I said at the time, so long as the gates don't start dropping, they are not going to panic and shove him out of the door while the season goals are still within reach.

I don't know of any interest in an Atletico Madrid midfielder, are you sure you are not thinking of Inaki Williams? In which case he is at Athletic Bilbao and is a forward, mainly a winger but can also play up front and you have had him tracked all season. The same person who recommended Herrera has put him up as an option. I expect, if the lad is interested in the move, that talks will be held at some point in the window, though I am not convinced they will sell him this January.}

1.) 16 Jan 2016 17:55:14
Thanks for quick reply ed. If you were in charge would you stick with him to see out these plans? Or would you start again with a new manager?

{Ed001's Note - I would never have employed him in the beginning, he is not a good manager in my opinion. But, and it is a big but, if you remove him now, it has to be for someone who is one of the best coaches in the world or it completely messes the plans and sets the club back another 2 years.}

2.) 16 Jan 2016 18:27:37
Thanks for your input ed much appreciated.

{Ed001's Note - you are welcome, and I have been informed the Atletico mid is Saul Niguez, which I know nothing about so I will have to ask. I have totally missed that one sorry.}

3.) 16 Jan 2016 19:07:57
Thanks.

4.) 17 Jan 2016 11:19:35
Ed001 - Given that United should only get rid of LvG if we can get one of the best coaches in the world, any news on if we are actively trying for Guardiola? Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any off from United being forthcoming so far.}

5.) 17 Jan 2016 13:49:44
Cheers Ed. I hope we get our skates on.

24 May 2015 17:36:10
Whats people's take on the gaitan rumours? He's been linked every season and apparently utd are in talks over the transfer. don't know much about him but doesn't seem a position we need fillin.

tom17

1.) 25 May 2015 10:25:46
Would take over Mata wide right, depay wide left, Rooney centre.

2.) 25 May 2015 11:16:58
He isn't good enough, Mata, Di Maria, Depay, Januzaj and on this seasons form Young would and should all be played ahead of him if he was here. If we are looking at that sort of player then we need to either push through a deal for Bale or move for Roberto Firmino. Both are miles better than Gaitan. Maybe even consider De Bruyne, although he does play best centrally.

3.) 25 May 2015 12:07:36
Really average player and poor fitness to boot. Since moving to Portugal he's missed nearly 40% of Benfica's league games (65 out of 170). He might be available for €35 million - which I suppose in this day and age is considered cheap - but I'd rather see us re-sign Bebe than bring in Gaitan.

4.) 25 May 2015 12:12:47
We need a far better striker than Rooney if we want to challenge the best. He's a good striker, but we need the best.

5.) 25 May 2015 13:07:29
Complete Rubish I would say as we have no interest. Mendes represents many players including DDG.

6.) 25 May 2015 15:01:51
Hi Syd,

How've you been not seen many posts until lately? Yeah I agree we need a top drawer striker with good movement in just thinking he won't be dropped next season as he's captain, 2 pacey wingers may help him next year.

7.) 25 May 2015 17:14:29
Just out of interest who would you get Syd because I can only think of Aguero and Lewandowski who are top,top strikers maybe Suarez too.

If I had 1 fantasy signing it would be Neymar who would everyone else get ??

8.) 25 May 2015 18:33:58
We need either speed or strength and power. Or both is such a player exists? Rooney can score goals, but he also can go several games without scoring and can be non-existent in games pretty much like RvP has been this season. For power I would go for Lewandowski or Cavani, even Benzema is strong albeit not tall. For speed there is the likes of Aguero and Suarez which are never going to happen. Neymar also wouldn't happen and I think he could struggle in the robust EPL. I would probably go for Cavani, however if we go for Cavani, Bale will unlikely happen due to cost. Cavani for me guys. Tall, strong, prolific when playing central.

9.) 26 May 2015 00:32:30
Lewandowski would be brilliant in the prem

10.) 26 May 2015 01:27:00
1 fantasy signing would have to be Pogba.
Would'nt mind Hazard though or Lewandowski, Cavani, Neymar, Messi, Feck it can we have them all.

08 Jun 2014 20:37:42
can any of the eds shed any light on mullers situation? I think I remember reading that barca would be interested if he was available. thanks

tom17

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Barcelona are still interested in Muller. Interest from Manchester City, Lazio and Chelsea seems to have waned.}

1.) But bare in mind Chelsea can not be interested in someone on the Monday, but by Wednesday they are trying to sign them :)

On a serious note a team can become interested at any moment and snatch him from our grasp. Hopefully we can do some quick business.

2.) Ed, do you think that Van Gaal taking over at Old Trafford, would put United in pole position to sign Muller, if he does indeed decided to leave?

Also - hypothetically speaking - United do sign Muller, where do you think he would fit in and who do you think would make way for him?

I would be very interested to hear your thoughts, if you have the time. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I can't answer about "pole position" and you need to give me a break over "hypothetical". But I can say there is real interest in Muller from the club. I postulated about van Gaal but it needed to be deleted - in summary, I don't see an easy ride in the mid-term. He pisses of nearly as many people as me.}

3.) The Bayern camp seem unsettled. I wonder if Pep might be available soon. That would be a transfer of note!

4.) Yeh because were good at that

5.) Thanks Ed.

Indeed, it might be a bumpy ride. Van Gaal will definitely upset a few apple-carts.

6.) 10 Jun 2014 00:46:22
Good to hear ed, a few people in that dressing room need upsetting, been coasting on reputation and past glories too long.

7.) Muller just signed new contract

08 Jun 2014 17:03:36
hi Ed002 is there any more information with konoplyanka? or is the player still holding out for a team in the champions league? thanks

tom17

{Ed002's Note - I expected to see PSG, Benfica and Arsenal make a bid in January, and possibly Fiorentina, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester United, Schalke and Dortmund to look Konoplyanka, but it was only Liverpool that made any significant effort. Right now it is Manchester United, PSG, Bayer Leverkusen and Spurs who are showing interest and looking to negotiate a transfer. Liverpool seem to have dropped the interest they had and have not spoken to Dnipro since January. Manchester United has made an offer for him but the player desires Champions League football - although I would not rule out a move to Old Trafford.}

What's peoples thoughts on mertens? Utd apparently interested.

tom17

1.) 10 Apr 2017 20:13:51
Yh him sanchez, ozil, griezmann and lukaku up front next season, should solve pur paltry home goalscoring record.

2.) 10 Apr 2017 21:30:27
Just another name amd story about united to fill the column inches.
Has had a great season late developer at 29 not one on our radar I suspect.

{Ed004's Note - I could see him fulfilling the Hernandez role that Jose has been talking about.}

3.) 11 Apr 2017 15:58:52
You can see him leaving napoli to be a sub at United Ed? That's what Jose said that hernandez could have scored 20 off the bench.

09 Apr 2016 20:18:42
With lvg looking like staying another year and Jose looking like returning to Madrid, who do you think will succeed lvg. I think it could be koeman, he will be in last year of contract and has done a brilliant job at Southampton. He knows the premiership and plays good football.

tom17

{Ed004's Note - that's far to far away to start talking about tbh. We could have 12 new flavour of the months before then}

1.) 09 Apr 2016 20:46:48
Could still be Jose yet Tom, LVG far from certain to stay unless his objectives are achieved, clearly Jose wants the United job, can't blame him for having other options lined up tho.

2.) 09 Apr 2016 22:15:12
If Jose has already agreed a deal somewhere (which his recent comments suggest) then it is not us. He could still come in, yes; but that would be difficult if he has agreed to take over elsewhere.

I doubt he would agree to come in 'if' LVG goes (as whether or not that happens will be determined by the results of our next 5 or 6 games) and doubt further that another club would agree to take him as manager next season - but only on the condition that he doesn't get the United job 'if' LVG stays.

Ergo I don't understand how JM could speak with such certainty if he were coming to OT.

3.) 09 Apr 2016 22:37:41
Well he's only said there's good offers on the table, I'm pretty sure he can say with certainty he will be in work next season cz of who he is, I think he's waiting on the United job, if not there will be plenty of offers, Real being one, aren't Real in the same situation, how can they offer Jose something if they don't know if ZZ doesn't achieve his objectives.

4.) 10 Apr 2016 00:12:13
Given where they were when ZZ took over I don't think anybody at Real would have realistically expected him to win anything this season and from what I have seen of RM lately - they have looked good under him (with the exception of midweek) .

Who's to say he will go to Real anyway? If he doesn't end up with us I fancy him to be managing PSG next season.

5.) 10 Apr 2016 07:22:59
I'm just worried that other teams do badly enough to keep LVG in his job.
Beginning to wonder if he might be slipping backhanders to get favourable results elsewhere. (joke, I think, before I get slammed for defamation)

6.) 09 Apr 2016 21:13:51
I wouldn't say he is flavour of the month just a good manager. What's your opinion ed? Do you see Jose coming or has that shipped sailed.

{Ed004's Note - I think it's highly likely that we will see Mourinho here next season.}

7.) 10 Apr 2016 15:07:35
Ed 04

Are you hedging your bets?
Home or away dugout?

What's the thoughts on utd apparently in discussions with Benicia for gaitan? seems odd as we have a lot of players in the role he plays.

tom17

1.) 25 May 2015 09:40:38
Personally for the money and age I would rather get felipe anderson. He has a lot more to offer in his game plus he's younger

16 Aug 2014 20:06:55
Ed in your opinion is rojo likely to move to utd?

tom17

{Ed002's Note - RTP please.}

I'd be a little gutted if herrera left, seems to get the club a lot like Evra did. Hopefully he shows his worth in the last weeks of the season and gets back into jm's good books.
If he was to leave you would think a few midfielders would be coming in. Kroos savic mentioned not sure who else we've shown interest in.

I think if de gea wants to go we should not stand in his way, he's a great player but utd will move on. I'd like to see oblak but that won't happen. I think Kasper Schmeichel will be the one bought.

Wouldn't have him, need players to fit a system, he's just another number 10. We need to build a team around pogba, play him in his strongest position and play/ buy players to fit that system.
