A player who I think goes under the radar of far too many people this season is James Maddison.

He has been sensational for Leicester all season. I read a stat earlier that he has created the joint most goalscoring chances of anyone in the top five leagues of Europe with 81.

Let that sink in for a second, he has created more goalscoring chances than Hazard, De Bruyne, both Silva's, Salah, Mane, Pogba and Eriksen in the EPL. And has done so playing for Leicester who have been pretty poor overall this season.

That is a phenomenal achievement. Now I'm not saying we need to go out and sign this lad, or even that we should. I just think he is a young English lad who isn't being overhyped, or even appreciated even though he has been playing some incredible football this season.

Ed001, I know you keep a close eye on young British talent, what's your take on James Maddison?

{Ed001's Note - I put him in my Top 10 Attacking Midfielders list last season, and he has only got better since moving to Leicester mate.}

Agreed, Shappy. He was one of the first names in my fantasy football this season. As far as under the radar goes, maybe compared to Sancho and the young Chelsea lad, yes, but a lot of people, including knowledgeable luminaries like myself (and Ed001 it would seem 😁) have high hopes for the lad.

25 Mar 2019 05:40:54
Now that ole has had some time, what do people think our best eleven should be?

I would like to see this team against barca

Rashford lukaku

Pogba Herrera

Shaw lindelof smalling young
De gea

Mata for me becomes crucial and can get everyone involved with his calmness and distribution on the counter.

Simple question. Would you sell Martial and have Hudson-Odoi on the left and Sancho on the right?

Agree5 Disagree2

23 Mar 2019 19:05:21
I'd take sancho.

23 Mar 2019 19:08:09
A good call Red Man. I've been expecting more from Martial.
However he is a forward and not a winger.

If Lukaku was sold and we went two up top Martial and Rashford would make a terrific pairing.

23 Mar 2019 21:21:53
The two are different types of players. However, think back to Giggs and Beckham, then think Odoi and Sancho are two young English wide players with different styles but not too different to the styles of Becks and Giggs. Martial keeps having games where he goes missing. Personally I look at Odoi and Sancho and see Giggs and Becks.

23 Mar 2019 23:20:01
Neither are anything like becks.

24 Mar 2019 10:22:53
Becks was never the kind of player to dribble past a player, he was a give and go wide man who could whip in a perfect cross, corner or freekick.

Both Sancho and Hudson-Odoi are much closer to Giggs than Beckham.

24 Mar 2019 12:44:40
The analogy is more that Sancho seems more direct but Odoi is more of a tricky jinking player. But would you like those two to be our wide players? It would be a risk but both have high potential. Add that to Rashford and hopefully Greenwood we would have a good long term forward line.

24 Mar 2019 13:51:07
Red man, I would be very happy to have them two as our wide players. Like you say add Rashford and Greenwood along with Lingard, Chong and Gomes then we would have an excellent pool of young talented forwards. With the added bonus of most of them being British.

24 Mar 2019 19:14:28
Both look like the real deal to be fair. Shappy that would be some selection. i'd be delighted if that was our selection in 12 months time.
Or even in 6 months time.
Im sticking my neck out now i think England are on the brink of a golden generation of attacking players . i expect them to be for the next 2 euros and world cups.
Sancho hudson odoi Taa gomes keane stones gomes rash sterling kane delli ali jessie greenwood could all play big parts in the next few tournaments.

On here we discuss how many signings, what positions, what players we need but I think we are approaching the summer transfer window with little knowledge of what our clubs aims are. The Eds have let us know we retained a desire for some of Mourinho's choices, the papers add a few more names plus as usual there will be some using us to get a better contract where they are, a la Ramos.

With no DOF, no permanent manager, it seems likely the Executive Vice Bean Counter Woodward will have a major say or even make decisions, but on what basis? What experience in football does the EVBC have to make those decisions? Did the EVBC have a hand in what we bought previously? Was he asked by a manager for one player and bought another because he thought he knew better?

We need at least four first team top level players in key positions. My worry is whether the players in mind will be the right ones. Bale, Griezmann, Kroos will get plenty of media clicks, good for the Man Utd app yet to me are well past the time we should consider them. We need younger hungry players of quality, not ones on the gravy train to retirement. I hope there is a strong enough manager in the United hot seat to demand the right type of player. You may not like it but when someone of LvG and Mourinho standing do not get what they want, we should be concerned. When a DOF, who may see through the social media advantages of players is ignored, inexplicably, we should be concerned.

We will know come summer but if a Bale, Griezmann, Kroos type of player arrives I have to wonder if it is the managers decision or whether we are just on the road to be the Harlem Globetrotters of football.

Red Man - agree to an extent. Kroos and Bale for me are probably in the Sanchez category - will command large wages but are likely to be on the decline. Griezmann on the other hand would be a good signing.

{Ed002's Note - Griezmann won't be signing.}

21 Mar 2019 16:41:18
I think we're in need of 5 signings maybe even six but I think 4 will be what comes in.

We need a right back. Valencia is departing, Darmian most likely will as well and Young probably has a season left in the tank. Dalot looks a player though. I'd say this I one we could leave a year, see how Dalot develops then reassess in 2020.

A ball playing centre half seems to be a must for how Ole wants to play. That would allow for more options. We have jones and Smalling for cover with Rojo departing. Although I expect one or both to go by 2020. It will be interesting to see what happens with Tuanzebe, in the squad or loaned. I'd say this signing is top priority.

Midfield. We need an upgrade on Matic. The guy can't play a full season and its an important position. McTominay has played ok but probably needs regular game time on loan to fully develop. I'd say this as second priority signing.

We also need another creative midfielder. Whilst Matic and Herrera do the leg work, covered by Fred and McTom, Pogba provides the magic. However if he's injured, suspended, off form or marked out a game we lack creativity. Pereira looks too light weight to be played deeper in league games and would be better as a 10 which we don't play with but could probably do a job on Europe. I'd say 3rd priority.

Wings. We lack a proper right winger. Mata and Lingard both drift to the centre. Rashford is better as a striker. The likes of Chong and Gomes need to develop more first. 4th priority.

However we could also maybe do with someone on the left. Sanchez has flopped. Martial looks better up front, maybe in tandem with Rashford or Lukaku. This though could wait to 2020.

Making 6 signings in a single window is complex considering the over inflated market.
Additionally, integrating them into the team is another challenge.
3-4 genuine top quality players is what we need.

Liverpool signed Alisson and Van Dijk which has made them title challengers.

Therefore it is extremely important to scout and invest wisely.
A top CB, RB and a forward could potentially elevate us. But again it is important to identify those right signings.

22 Mar 2019 13:02:23
I didn't say sign 6 in one window. I said we needed 6 but could stagger it over two summers. Some positions are higher priority than others.

23 Mar 2019 08:19:10
I think we need to give some of our talented young players a chance rather than buying 6 new players . how refreshing is it watching England these days with them giving the young players a chance.

23 Mar 2019 18:53:41
I would have no issue at all in having chong gomes mctom Tuanzebe as part of our squad. i'd love to see that. Along with rash jessie and pogba that's a great representation from the academy .
There are several players in our squad that those lads could replace. Rojo if we can find a buyer darmian likewise valencia goes on a free and its looking like mata will too sadly.
Dalot is also very young and looks like he could improve and become our long term rb.
Rash and martial are both relatively young as is shaw.
Pogba and jessie are both more experienced.
Lindelof is still very young as is bailly but i'm not sure he will stay.
Our experienced snr pros are young jones smalling matic herrera sanchez and none of them will or should be certain starters next season.

19 Mar 2019 21:24:49
I wonder if the new team Sky cycling team owner will soon be bidding for Man Utd . He seems to be in a spending stage of his life and is a massive Utd fan. Worth £24 billion at last count probably £27 billion by the end of March. Ready and waiting Sir Jim Radcliffe 😆😆.

{Ed002's Note - It is a different club he has made an offer for.}

Chelsea I believe. He is a united fan but lives in Chelsea.

21 Mar 2019 17:16:44
Hopefully he winds them up.

19 Mar 2019 00:36:15
What are your thoughts on Adrien Rabiot? He has had a falling out at PSG, but given a new environment, he could thrive. He has an awful lot of positives. 6'2", just 23, already with plenty of experience, and loads of talent. He has a lot of ability on the ball, can link defense to attack, can run with the ball, and has some creativity. It would be a free transfer as well. I think it could be a wise move for the club.

If we are going after a midfielder, we must break the bank for Saul Niguez.
It will be a decade worth of investment.
It's the only way to close the gap between us and the top sides.
No more to average joes.

19 Mar 2019 11:11:56
Saul Niguez vs Ruben Neves
tough choice to make.

19 Mar 2019 18:53:11
His wages are an issue for us and he has a lot if baggage. ed002 answered on European page.

21 Mar 2019 14:38:43
Rabiot seems to carry a load of baggage. No thanks.

21 Mar 2019 19:25:37
Maybe we should sign the French bloke, Hotel Porter? His baggage is easily managed by himself.

18 Mar 2019 14:06:22
First of all, i absolutely love Ole and the job that he has done with our team in past few months, but i would wait till he end of the season
to give him the job.

My reason being, player/ Manager relationship was absouletly fine when Mourinho arrived and they all backed each other and played for each other, lets
wait and watch how players respond to adversity under Ole, how many of them are willing to let things go and perform when Ole is going to make some tough decisions which are not in their (player) favour, and how Olle handles this.

Ole has all the pedigree and has been doing all the right things but how does Ole respond when things go south and we are under more pressure while fighting
to stay in top 4 or to keep our CL hopes alive.

heya, i posted a question a week ago whether manU fans would want lfc to win PL or CL. anyways I just wanted to come back and say you lot are alright! on the liverpool page, a visiting fan of another club would get shot down unless they came to bow at the presence of Anfield lol so well done you guys and um, weren't you lot and Matic trying to stop City win the quadruple.? you'll jave to beat em in the league now huh!? yes please!

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Mar 2019 11:33:48
in an ideal world
City beat you to the title
Poch or Ron stop City in CL
Barca or us stop you in CL
Wolves is our only hope in the fa cup.

18 Mar 2019 16:20:51
Well replied WRD.

14 Mar 2019 17:16:29
Wow Scholes left already . For a job with OGS me think 😆😆.

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Mar 2019 00:24:57
What I just read on twitter from an Oldham fan shows that Scholesy had the patience of a saint.
Gas cut off, Players washing own kit, Owners trying to pick the team and coaches not booked for games.

15 Mar 2019 21:04:41
Read a few posts having a right dig at Scholes. He's a bright lad and will have left for the right reasons. Anyone having a dig does not know of his love for Oldham.

16 Mar 2019 23:46:29
Maybe but resigning via text is pretty low.
