Young goal keeper Keiran o'hara on the bench tonight according to his mum haha.

A cousin of mine. He was with the first team for the first time last night.
Fair play to him.

You have to laugh. Manchester United have asked Bayern Munich about Renato Sanches' buy out clause! This is the laziest peace of Journalism I have seen.

1redarmy

1.) 14 Jul 2016 19:00:33
I can see us keeping tabs on him while he's there. Bayerns midfield is strong enough without Sanches so we may be trying our luck. He could be back up to Pogba. I would pay 60M on Sanches and still think that's cheap in today's market.

2.) 14 Jul 2016 19:45:08
Aparently JM has asked what the cost is now because he's thinking of him for in a couple of yrs time?

Gotta b the stupidest story theybhave tried this yr. #desperate.

3.) 14 Jul 2016 22:46:56
Not wanting to be rude but cr92 and even you too must be on the sauce and i am amused by the thought process.

4.) 14 Jul 2016 23:05:56
Lazy? .

At least u had the energy to write this drivel 😣.

5.) 14 Jul 2016 23:38:12
what makes you think i'm on "the sauce", because i estimate sanches at 60M wich is twice what Bayern paid for him?

He has just had an amazing Euro, where unlkie many players out there, Sanches exceeded peoples expectations of him. One of the standouts of the tournament and if anything, out played Pogba trhrough out it. only 18, but what did we pay for Martial? And who had a better tournament? Similar price to Martial and still a lot cheaper then Pogba. My estimation of Sanches, probably isn't any where close to what bayern value him at.

Also youd be stupid to think that the club will just forget about sanches now he's at bayern. i'm pretty sure they'll be following his progression while others will also be doing the same.

i also never stated that the club have bid or even asked, just that i could see us following his progression and that if Pogba failed, i would spend double on Sanches because i rate him more then you're Gomes or Schneiderlins.

no offence but x-files died in the 90s, with dechovnys career.

6.) 15 Jul 2016 05:47:29
Cr92 bayern haven't got sanches on cheap as you are suggesting, the deal for sanches is much like martial, if reports are to be believed its 35mn upfront with fee going upto 75-80mn with various clauses, they would never sell him for 60mn. Martial started 1 game and was withdrawn 45 mins into it, deschamps was criticized for giving martial only 10 mins in the final, so the comparison is rubbish. Also sanches was given a more free attacking role, pogba in the final was playing a deeper role, again thank descamps for that. Sanches is a good player potentially even worldclass, but he is not near pogba's level right now.

7.) 15 Jul 2016 15:24:40
I only compared them for fee related reasons. There 2 different players no doubt, BUT out of all 3 of them only Sanches had a successful Euros and in not one of his performances was he criticised but praised in all of them.

And yes its 35M euros which is 27.5M pounds, Also IF reports are to be believed the deal could reach upto 45M EUROS (How am i suggesting its cheap? ) . I can't seem to find any reports claiming the deal to be any where near the 70-80M with clauses. i'm not sure why you think i was suggesting Bayern bought him on a cheap, when all reports suggest that he cost around 30M :s.

Not once did i say Sanches is a better player then Pogba or Martial. I mentioned Sanches just incase we fail to get Pogba, not instead of him. With Martial, all i was stating is he didn't justify his price tag at the Euros but we all know he is worth every penny we paid for him an more.

Sanches would be worth every penny spent on him, if we was to go for him again. yes its very unlikely United will be enquiring so soon, but no doubt will the club be tracking his progress and may act on that in the future.

8.) 15 Jul 2016 16:30:21
Cr92 it is not upto 45mn it is 35 mn upfront with 45mn in various related add ons, not upto 45 but 35 + upto 45mn addons that makes it a deal potentially of 80mn.

9.) 15 Jul 2016 17:35:39
You may be right on that. But for them to pay that he would need to keep exceeding expectations and have to see out his contract whilst also probably winning the Ballon Dor.

In many cases if Bayern where to sell him sooner rather then later, they wouldn't be paying the add ons. If we was too bid or make an offer, we would certainly be adding a few add ons here and there also.

10.) 15 Jul 2016 19:32:11
CR92

Because no one keeps tabs on a player who is 18 and just moved on a 5 year to a a new club and definitely does not go enquiring about his release clause. its is not the cattle market mate.

11.) 15 Jul 2016 20:03:48
Are you broken? Why do you think teams will just stop tracking him now? I don't get your logic . He's a football player that's coming up with world class status. Plenty of clubs will be watching over how he progresses at Bayern. Do you think when Bale went to Spurs we simply forgot about him? SAF has said before he still kept tabs on Bale after we lost out to Spurs. And a specially being of such a young age, his progression will be watched very closely.

12.) 16 Jul 2016 18:00:43
Cr92

Teams move on and you sound like a broken record. No team goes asking about a player they were in that went to another club about his release clause with the new club, which is what the article supposedly said. only the ultra naive and fief brigade believe this stuff.

06 Jul 2016 13:09:03
Things seem to be gaining momentum now and I am getting excited. News of Mkhitarayan's medical today or tomorrow plus the big rumours of Pogba getting more and more realistic by the day. Then there are the rumours of Matuidi, Lozano and a truck load of centre backs means we are set up for a great summer.

I would be happy with Matuidi and not Pogba but I certainly couldn't see both come in.

What I am going to take from Jose's four player comment is that Zlatan, Mkhit, Pogba/ Matuidi and another CB would be the steady four he wants. Bailly and Lozano being seen as squad players with potential to break in this season. The reason I say this is Jose didn't sound so sure Bailly would be ready to go which would be strange to then rely on him.

6 players coming in is a lot but I think it could happen. Mata, Blind and Rojo all leaving with maybe one or two surprises such as Valencia and Januzaj.

1redarmy

1.) 06 Jul 2016 13:36:54
Bailly is definitely one of the four as jose said he already has three of the four.

2.) 06 Jul 2016 13:56:44
It's naive to think we will stop at 4. Baily, Mkhitaryan, Pogba and Ibra would mean that Jose is sufficiently happy with the squad. But that doesn't mean it can't be improved.

If he can get Matuidi then that's a huge upgrade on Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin - either of which could leave.

A centre back like Varane or Mustafi is also a huge upgrade on Smalling so if there is a chance I expect we will go for it.

I can see the four, plus Lozano who will be loads out straight away plus perhaps one more. Either another midfielder or centre back. As it stands, both Pogba and Matuidi look likely purchases.

3.) 06 Jul 2016 14:18:04
Your talking like its a game 'swapping panini stickers' fresh!

4.) 06 Jul 2016 15:09:38
fresh i think 4 signings is what he said he needed to balance the squad, rest of the signings will most likely be if someone is sold and need to be replaced, which is very likely with likes of schweinsteiger being linked to psg, rojo being told to pack his bags, others like matuidi will be most likely signed only to replace players sold not otherwise.

5.) 06 Jul 2016 15:18:16
I don't understand why it is being suggested to sign 6 or 7 players.
We have players that are good, some of them were played in the wrong position or not allowed to express themselves. For instance Young played up front a couple of times last season, however he isn't the worst winger going but that is where he is best.
As for another CB, how many would you like to have on the team exactly or are we going to field 6 of those? The advantage about Smalling is he is used to the league and has an understanding with De Gea. Putting in 2 new CBs who haven't played with the full backs or with DG or together for that matter is a massive gamble.

6.) 06 Jul 2016 15:41:58
I'd be happy with Matuidi I happen to really like the work he gets through in a game.

23 Jun 2016 08:49:01
It seems James Rodriguez has put his house up for rent and is house hunting in Manchester. Get the feeling he will be our 'Galactico' signing this summer but isn't really what we need. I do like him but I don't think he is necessary.

Also Embolo is going to Germany and a bid for Sane has been put in along side City and Bayern so that is a no go.

Finally do you think we told Zlatan we don't want him if he goes to the Olympics?

1redarmy

1.) 23 Jun 2016 09:32:52
I hope we are in for James! And with Zlatan maybe, when he was announcing his retirement he looked very upset and like he didn't want to retire from international and was being made to!

2.) 23 Jun 2016 09:36:42
All good rumours, hence why they have gone on the rumour page, I imagine paragraphs 1 and 2 are 'red top' stories, the whole house hunting thing comes out about any player we are linked with, can take it with a pinch of salt.

I think the whole Zlatan to the Olympics thing was a nonsense story and he was never likely to go, he has never gone before has he? So why now suddenly.

3.) 23 Jun 2016 09:40:58
i thought exactly the same thing about zlatan.

he seemed to make it very clear that he will not take part in the Olympics which made me wonder if we have put a stop to it?!

4.) 23 Jun 2016 09:41:55
I don't know how he isn't what we need a world class number 10 the more world class players we get the better its a squad game remember.
If we get rodriguez zlatan and the boy from dortmund then we will have a formidable squad for next season.

5.) 23 Jun 2016 10:40:47
don't want James or any other Madrid rejects.

6.) 23 Jun 2016 10:55:12
I'd take James but his poor form means his price is a risk. If he can get going though then we potentially have the best player in the League.

7.) 23 Jun 2016 11:15:12
If we get James then Perreira must fear his chances.

8.) 23 Jun 2016 11:37:10
If we get James to me it signifies two things.
1. Mata might be leaving Jose rates James he was his regular no. 10 at Madrid.
2. Jose doesn't see Rooney as a number 10 rather as a box to box midfielder or deep lying playmaker. Please let this not start another wazza debate it's just a humble opinion.
I wouldn't like it if we brought in james and shoehorned him to the right. If that's the case no way Jose.

9.) 23 Jun 2016 11:58:45
james and jose weren't at real madrid at the same time.

10.) 23 Jun 2016 12:14:53
I think Ancelotti purchased James.

11.) 23 Jun 2016 12:18:00
They weren't? I could have sworn they were. Jeez I got to lay off the plant

12.) 23 Jun 2016 12:58:40
I don't see James coming in to be honest unless Woodward wants to make a statement. If he did then I hope that we play him where he is most effective which is just behind the striker.
However to think that next year we could have a 4231 with the front line of Zlatan with Martial - James - Mkhitaryan very excited if they all perform.

13.) 23 Jun 2016 13:14:58
What about Rashford? Jose make it very clear via the press that he did not want to hinder his progress.

14.) 23 Jun 2016 14:33:06
You mean Jose made it very clear, he was just saying the right stuff to us fans and probably the club. Letting us know what we want to hear.
Only throughout the whole season will we know how and if Mourinho will take on the United ways and have the youth system implicated in the first team.
But Rashford is different class, the next team will be built around him I'm sure.

15.) 23 Jun 2016 17:01:24
Rashford is still a young lad and the one thing Jose does best is protecting his players from undue pressure the boy is class he'll get his chances but he is not ready to shoulder the team's expectations at least not yet.

16.) 23 Jun 2016 19:39:24
Zlatan has one of the biggest egos in world football, if he wanted to go to the Olympics he would have. A lot of athletes have pulled out due to Zika fears so it could be that, or maybe he just doesn't fancy it, either way I'm sure if he wanted to go he would.
Also James isn't a player I would like to sign, never seen him have a good game since the World Cup, he's more of a luxury signing than what we really need.

07 Jun 2016 22:30:57
Sources close to me are reporting that Zlatan Ibrahimović has finally agreed a deal to sign Manchester United for a year or until he chooses. He has decided to compensate himself 300k per week for his time and has assumed all coaching roles within the club.

They say the deal has taken so long due to Zlatan demanding he manages Jose Mourihno. As a bonus he has kindly allowed us to sign Bailly as he needs someone around to arm wrestle.

A picture is available of Zlatan stood infront of our/ his training ground wearing Jose's cardigan and packed lunch combination.

Well I don't really know what to say. It would be nice to sit and give an excuse as to why we were hard done by or why we were unlucky but I can't. There is a recurring theme which has spanned the last four games and it is that we can't attack. It has spanned the last 3 seasons to be fair and more worryingly it has spanned across from some truly gifted players.

We have had Kagawa, Mata, Di Maria, Falcao, RvP and now Zlatan plus the rest yet we are not a proficient attacking side. We create so little it is frightening. The beauty of having Zlatan is that we can mix it up as he can do it all, yet we are just pumping the ball to him. I may just be down but it seems no amount of money could fix an issue that has spread 3 managers and countless players. I don't get it but something needs to change. My early season hope is drained. I hate having to be negative but I have no choice.

1redarmy

1.) 18 Sep 2016 16:25:25
Don't be hard on yourself . We've had no midfield for that entire period and a poor back line playing pogba out of position isn't the fix . Just shows hoe easy it is to waste 300m the whole lot wasted on average players most of which are still played out of position Wayne. We have the makings of a good team but the area which all the worlds other top teams consider vital has been neglected for nearly a decade. Pogba is a step in the right direction Kanye would have been great. Not there just yet however there is no excuse for lack of trying just shows the money they demand is laughable as well .

2.) 18 Sep 2016 16:52:38
Matuidi was available for not a lot of money.
I really do think we need two outstanding wingers to stretch the game neither rashford or martial are natural wingers.

3.) 18 Sep 2016 16:53:47
Also wanyama was sold for £12m and he is better than schneiderlin and Fellaini and Blind.

4.) 18 Sep 2016 17:30:34
Schmid - if we had signed Wanyama instead of Schmidfield we would be saying the same about Schneiderlin now. We are the club that ruins quality.

We sign quality players, and then change the way we ask them to play, it makes absolutely no sense. Why buy an amazing car if you want a motorbike, or worse why buy a car and chop off two of the wheels and expect it to be a motorbike or if that fails ask it to be a car again, but it's nothing as you have corrupted it and ruined it forever!

I hate what our club is quickly becoming.

11 Sep 2016 21:56:37
I know nearly everyone has had their say on the derby but I will still post mine.

What is clear is that Jose set us up wrong from the off and it almost seemed as if he was trying to provide a tactic Pep wouldn't be ready for. Playing Mhki and Lingard despite both being declared unfit up until the day before was odd. That was one of the decisions that cost us as both badly underperformed. The other was the strange decision to not play 3 in midfield. We all knew City would play possession with neat and tidy football but we decided to let them do it. It was clear from the moment Herrara came on that it was the wrong decision as he was really good.

I am not saying I could call the shots better than Jose by any means but even in the live chat many of you were calling for 433.

The positive not is that he had the sense and the ruthlessness to change it. He saw it and he knew how to fix it and that is what we need. There are plenty of positives we can take from the game and on another day it could have been better or worse. A rare mistake by Blind/ a good piece of play by KDB lead the first goal and unbelievable luck lead to the second (although the post in the second half balanced that out)

The main thing that surprised me is what happened in the second half. City all of a sudden became a league one side in a cup tie that were holding on by the skin of their teeth. I haven't seen a side of that quality sit infront of their keeper since Chelsea v Barca. Would hardly call it a masterplan waiting to see if we score or not.

I am disappointed with the result but not disheartend. We looked tired but it is one game. For me Jose is still the better manager of the two, just a risk failed to pay off.

23 Aug 2016 13:27:57
So we have sold or loaned Tyler Blackett, McNair, Keane, Love and now Phil Jones may be on his way. The one I am surprised to see not linked away is Rojo. He is the one I and many others thought may go first but he must been seen as useful cover for Shaw.

If Phil does go we are fairly short at the back and I would see that as a definite sign Fonte is coming in. Smalling, Bailly and Blind backed up by TFM and Tuanzebe we may get away with but is a couple of injuries away from an inexperienced pairing. Fonte is making more sense by the minute.

That said we could probably just have Bailly and De Gea at the back and still have a better defence than Liverpool.

1redarmy

1.) 23 Aug 2016 14:21:51
rojo still being at utd seems to be more down to him not wanting to leave, it was reported he turned down move to china and his wages also seem to be an issue for other interested clubs.

2.) 23 Aug 2016 15:06:03
By all accounts he is digging his heels in. big contract, not willing to take a cut in wages otherwise he would be long gone - the only hope we had is signing the fabinho fella from Monaco and trying to push Rojo on them. seems that's not happening.

3.) 23 Aug 2016 17:04:57
To be fair its our own fault for making poor signings and giving them the wage they're on. It makes it very difficult to then move them on at an acceptable transfer fee.

4.) 23 Aug 2016 18:06:58
Correct HoneyBadger but it is very well known now to any player that we are the pay checks outside of China and the US.

5.) 23 Aug 2016 19:29:50
I think you're right 1redarmy.

6.) 23 Aug 2016 23:13:18
The thing is about Rojo is that he should be so much better. He has been hampered by injuries, and maybe the EPL is too physical for him, or maybe he's just lazy, but he did managed to hold down a place in a very good defensive Argentinian team a couple of years ago. He might yet turn out to be a player who, with the right mamager and system, may be of value.

7.) 23 Aug 2016 23:30:28
Selling Jones doesn't really make us short at the back, he's never fit to make the bench anyway.

8.) 24 Aug 2016 10:21:21
Jones is going nowhere. Rojo probably deserves another crack under Jose although I'd prefer him to leave than Jones. He's a liability at centre half but is a decent left back. If Phil can stay fit for 20 games he will be a player. Big if though.

9.) 24 Aug 2016 17:31:43
he is already a player eric, just not a good one.

16 Aug 2016 13:25:30
Not really sure what to make of the Barbosa and Fonte rumours. I am not sure we even need Barbosa and maybe the only reason we would be considering signing him now is due to the fact he may end up at one of our rivals. He does have a big reputation over there but is a risk. If we do sign him I imagine we would do what City have done with Jesus and Moreno.

Fonte is a bit different as we do need cover and he does have experience but is by no means a world class defender that many want. He would be fourth choice at the moment and would he be happy with that? Bailly and Blind looked solid and Smalling will play well over half of our games this season meaning Fonte would only get Cups and January to have a real go. For that role we could rely enough on Phil Jones.

They are two more signings that wouldn't really improve us as a team this season and we have bags of potential to come through. Barbosa shouldn't be signed in my opinion. Fonte only if Rojo and Jones go.

1redarmy

1.) 16 Aug 2016 13:59:26
I think if fonte does come in the way forward should be fonte and bailly partnership.

2.) 16 Aug 2016 14:27:37
Did you just say we could rely on Phil sicknote Jones?

Fonte would partner Bailly. He is a leader which is something we lack.

He wouldn't be my first choice and obviously isn't a long term solution but for a season or two while Bailly adapts to the Prem he would be a solid option.

3.) 16 Aug 2016 14:56:14
Smalling is a poor defender who looked good because lvg played 2 dm's to protect the defence, jones is just rubbish and should be sold, don't even get me started on rojo, that leaves us with blind and bailly and kids like tuanzebe and fosu mensah, that is not a title winning cb pairing by a long shot, and people really seem to be forgetting bailly will be off to afcon next year, fonte is a decent defender and given the lack of quality defenders who we can buy i would happily take fonte right now.

Gabigol for me too is a bit of a surprise, if bought where will he play and do we really need him.

4.) 16 Aug 2016 15:04:56
MulamNO, yes I didn't say that but in the context of he would only play cup games and be cover in January when Bailly goes to Africa. By no means to I mean he will ever be first choice. Smalling and Blind both deserve to be in the team, especially Blind.

5.) 16 Aug 2016 16:13:16
If no one has seen Gabigol - get to you tube and quick!

Looks to have the physicality to deal with the prem, he's a beast at 19!

6.) 16 Aug 2016 17:04:35
He is a 19 year old south American I doubt very much he would slip into the epl with ease.

7.) 16 Aug 2016 19:56:01
Barbosa for the right, Miki 10 and Martial on the left with Zlatan up front. Rooney and Rashford can rotate with Zlatan.

8.) 16 Aug 2016 21:34:26
This sounds a bit weird but would Jones not fare better if we loaned him to out to some club. I would not mind Jones going to a pessimistic team like WBA or Hull who would defend deep.

14 Aug 2016 20:56:08
Well first game and first win. Following the live chat for the first time was a fun experience as Wayne's haters were in full voice then he scored and his fans came out haha. Anyway not a Rooney post.

Zlatan is going to be one of them players who won't have great games but will keep scoring great goals. Sort of like what Ronaldo is doing at the moment. Wenger once said he is not bothered if they are one nil down because Henry hasn't scored yet. I feel the same with Ibra in the side.

Also Bailly is a monster. Keeps this up and we will be changing his name to Nemanja.

1redarmy

1.) 14 Aug 2016 21:34:02
And Jose said he wasn't fully fit for the game.
Great guy Bailly. Another Varane like gem.

What does it matter what they did before becoming a manager? Nothing guarantees anyone is going to be a good manager no matter what their background. If you are a knowledgeable football man and you know how to motivate then you have a good chance. Some players have that and some coaches have that but not everyone.

Of course it helps to be a legend at the club to get a job because more often than not they know everything about the club. Doesn't matter if you are Jose or Zidane if you can manage then you can manage.

How to get the best out of Zlatan isn't a debate it is obvious. First 3 games we were feeding him the ball and putting in some decent crosses and the rest we have resorted to using him as Andy Carroll with non stop pumping balls up to him. You saw when Felliani put in a decent cross he produced a top class header.

If you are getting the ball high and straight with your back to goal you are not going to score a goal no matter who you are. Play around him and he shall score.

There is no point in saying what if we signed someone else or would we have signed Pogba because we have. A few weeks ago we were all over the moon and we were in disbelief with who we had just signed. I think Pogba is a very good player who feels the need to prove himself. His price tag was over inflated and it, in my opinion, is weighing on his mind and every time he hits the ball over the bar it will weigh heavier. What he needs is a game where he scores and has a really impacting contribution and the sooner it comes the better.

You can tell by the way he walks around players he is special, it is just getting him going and finding his best role.

We were just 10 yards too deep all over the pitch which meant Rashford was effectively 30 yards away from the play. Had we played the game in their half like we used to do against teams then you would find the attacking players all of a sudden come to life. The amount of time Pogba had the ball near our area and cornerflags was ridiculous. You can't pay 90m for someone then have him cover your left back.

Also we didn't press which after the City game is a worry. I don't want to get too carried away with an unimportant loss but it does make me think the squad isn't quite what I thought it was.
