Guys, would it be such a bad thing to make De Gea see out his final year? Real won't stump up what we think his value is so let's keep him. Do what Dortmund did with Lewandowski - raise his wages for his final season. It would ensure he gives his all professionally. Plus it gives us an extra season to convince him to stay. especially if we can make some signings that makes us genuine title contenders. ?

I'd keep de gea if we didn't get 33 million or ramos in straight swap

I don't think extra money or more signings is DeGeas motivation. All family.
The only way it would work is if RM then go and get abother keeper they want like courtois and no longer want de gea.

Anyone else find it concerning that Moyes thought we defended well yesterday? Yes, he cited 2 counter attacks that 'done us'
but in truth we looked like conceding every time Spurs broke on us. I wouldn't neccessarily expect him to come out and slate the defence
so i'm clinging to the hope that deep down he knows the weaknesses we have in defence. The 2 goals against Hull were shockingly
poor goals to concede as well as yesterdays. I know none of this is new to anybody but Evra is so poor at the moment that I fear for us
every time he plays. Especially at home when the onus is on us to attack from the off. In these home games Evra is constantly caught out of position
and labours to get back at all. He seems uninterested the last 2 seasons in the defensive side of his job. Spurs exploited the fact that
our left side is terribly weak and prone to counter attacks. Coupled with the fact our central midfield area can be overrun
too easily it means the better sides can punish us like what we saw yesterday. Te writing has been on the wall for a couple of seasons
now, I just hope Moyes brings in a LB and a central box to box midfielder like everyone else on this site!

1.) The fish rots from the head. A dour, serially unsuccessful manager will produce a dour, unsuccessful team and dour, unsuccessful results. This is what we have shackled ourselves to and the situation will continue until we unshackle ourselves from it. It is clear that things are getting worse: training regimes that guarantee injuries; tactics that produce poor and unimaginative toothless displays; management ineptitude that produces player indifference and also outright lack of interest. This is where we are. If the company does not change the management, the management will change the company. The incumbent manager has already ensured that the company has lost some $500 million in market capitalization. This will continue while we fail to play well, while we lose, while his unattractive approach to the beautiful game also ensures that we cannot attract good new players. This is the perfect storm of a financial, sporting and managerial implosion. Yet there are still the naive suggesting that we allow this destruction to continue until the end of the season, or for another season on top. When the fish rots you throw it out. So, throw it out.

If it goes through it'll be for 6 months. Think of it as a free hit. What would be laughable is to not have any backup to Martial and Greenwood for the next 4 months.

Would Laporte improve us immediately or would he be a risk given the bedding in period required for such a young player? I haven't actually ever seen him play. Just wondering how much better he is than our current lot.

Yep, i'd take Berahino also. IMO he's a natural finisher and looks as though he can create chances for himself. I don't think that our current back up to Rooney,- Hernandez or Wilson have that ability. I also think with better players around him he could do well.

Redatheart the original post wasn't based around ANY rumour heard mainstream or otherwise. The post was asking about 2 random players, in the hope that one of the eds knew if we were or weren't interested. The fact is that only ED002 has any type of inside info on such matters. And even if 002 was still replying on this site it wouldn't be long before he got pissed off being asked about random players around Europe.

Fair point, or maybe UEFA will argue that their investigation and evidence was independent, albeit driven by concerns raised in that German documentary which arose from Pintos leaks. Perhaps the whole appeal will hinge on whether UEFAs evidence can be separated from Pintos stolen / leaked info. Do you think the appeal process will be a drawn out affair Ed?

BennyBlanco

{Ed002's Note - It can take a while to organise and prepare for.}

Ok, thanks Ed. Will be interesting to see City's appeal strategy. I've seen somewhere that they may argue that FFP breaches European competition law. Not sure of the specifics around that law but interesting few weeks ahead.

BennyBlanco

{Ed002's Note - Maybe they will appeal that the evidence was stolen by Pinto and under law is not admissable?}

I've a question if any of the Ed's have time to answer. If City are guilty of breaching UEFA fair play rules does it call into question whether they've broken PL financial fair play rules also?

BennyBlanco

{Ed002's Note - Nominally yes but there is no evidence to support that in the hands of The FA - and they sure as hell would not take a chance on going to court with the evidence that UEFA has.}

I don't think a 2 yr ban will be overturned to no ban. I think best case it will be reduced to a 1 yr ban. For UEFA to impose 2 years suggests overwhelming evidence of financial irregularities.
