Evening everyone! been on this site for years but only posted once before, we clearly have to buy a CB LB and I reckon 2 midfielders one being fred and the other one hopefully being thiago (we can dream) but if we had the choice between bale or greizmann who would u pick? myself I would prob go for bale today but then tomorrow I would pick greizmann lol.

I prefer Griezmann, but he seems Barcelona bound, if rumors are correct. Both are great players. Griezmann's touch and finishing are world class. Bale might be injury prone, but he too is a world-class goal threat, as recent evidence has shown. And more local, close to home, and could follow in somebody's footsteps at Old Trafford.

2.) 01 Jun 2018 10:02:08
Both are great players. I love bale but his injury record is worrying. He premier league is much more physical than the La Liga so god knows how he will cope here.

But griezmann is my favourite player. Gutted we didn’t sign him last year and if there is any chance he may reject Barcelona we should be all over him. Great goal scoring ability, dribbling but all great work rate having played under simeone. Let’s see what happens because I don’t believe Barcelona have this deal fully wrapped up.

Fellaini is going no where.

1.) 31 Jul 2017 10:00:04
Jose bulking out the squad quite literally which as too small to go for all the cups and leagues last season.

2.) 31 Jul 2017 11:50:15
Bad news for a few on here.

3.) 31 Jul 2017 12:46:59
Whilst Fellaini may not have the quality some associate with a united player he has the heart of a united player. I can see why Jose would keep him.

Hello everyone, I'm a constant reader (everyday at least twice) but only posted once before, I have family inside the football world an have been told we will sign 3 more signings at least, on top of lukaku and lindelof! maybe even 4 so don't panic they will come it's just the club being sensible an not paying over the odds like them noisy neighbours 😉.

Care to name any names? If this turns out to be true then we've got a lot of 'clearing out' to do yet. Something that would be really disruptive to our squad.

2.) 28 Jul 2017 12:16:15
Any names? :-)

3.) 28 Jul 2017 12:26:20
I love this kind of thing - 'family inside the football world', raw, nods me of Sydney's grandad. I hope you're right.

4.) 28 Jul 2017 13:09:31
I'm amazed that several of our players haven't been offloaded already. I was expecting a massive overhaul early doors this window, with 6-7 coming in and 7-8 going out. The longer we leave to do our business (incoming and outgoing) the more problematic it may be for the start.

Although the gods have been kind to us with our early fixtures.

5.) 28 Jul 2017 13:30:53
I think if it wasn't for the injuries to Young, Shaw and Rojo then we probably would've sold a couple of our defenders by now. Blind, Jones and Smalling would be the obvious candidates. Although I do like Blind as a decent squad player, he didn't do himself any favours against Barcelona in preseason.

6.) 28 Jul 2017 14:15:18
Beast,

6-7 coming in? That was never going to happen.

7.) 28 Jul 2017 15:11:42
Gds
Got back a month and everyone was going on about 6 or 7 look at the sharkpod .

Always seemed a lot imo 3 or 4 tops.

8.) 28 Jul 2017 16:08:05
I remember an interview with Jose who said he learnt a new word from Ed Woodward - 'churn' when asked about transfers. Jose has in the past said somwething along the lines of he has been working for 15 years with 23 outfield players which include 3 goalkeepers, when he excluded Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Excluding Ashley Young, Marcos Rojo and a few youngsters I count about 24 players and can't see any obvious players that will be moved on though i do think this will be the final season for many of them.

9.) 28 Jul 2017 16:50:56
I always thought 5 or 6 if ddg left. Way too much mediocrity and failure condoned. We don't need a team of stars but we have too many below average players.
No team that has to start fellaini or blind or jones 20 plus times a season in the league will win it or compete to win it. They are not good enough. Good honest pros they may be but champions they are not.

10.) 28 Jul 2017 17:32:49
How long have we been complaining about average players, we have been having this same conversation since the days of Luke Chadwick.

11.) 28 Jul 2017 18:02:21
Ben gibson will go for at least twice as much as smalling or jones or blind or rojo. Vvd will go for 4 times as much. What fee could we get for fellaini or young in this crazy summer market? Our fringe players are worth buttons no top tier club wants them. In any any country. That's the reality. can't criticise ed for not getting top dollar for players no top club wants.

12.) 28 Jul 2017 19:43:22
Jose doesn't have to start fellaini he chooses to .
The club have backed the manager and it's obvious to most that Jose rates fellaini.

13.) 28 Jul 2017 20:37:12
He certainly got a decent amount of game time last season and always gave 100% and put in a couple of really good performances. We won't the league cup and euro cup. But that wasnt my point. Imo that if he starts 20 plus games in the league again next season that we are a lot less likely to end up competing to win the league.
No lack of effort and he can make an impact but he will be exposed over a season if a really regular starter at a club of our status. Imo there are too many players of his standard at in the squad and when we get injuries or need to rotate there is too big a drop in quality over the man their replacing in too many positions. Just my opinion but its backed up by our lesgue position over the last 4 years. I really do expect significant improvement this season and with 2 or 3 more signings of joses choice i'd be cautiously optimistic. Without at least 2 more we will need to rely on the perenial underachievers too often to sustain a title winning campaign.

14.) 28 Jul 2017 20:35:36
Did we not win the league when Jones played 20 odd games in 2012/13?

15.) 28 Jul 2017 20:55:55
Couldn't agree more Ken. At this level we want to compete at again in the near future, Fellaini, blind, jones, Smalling, young are just not good enough. Shaw could be added to that list too.

16.) 28 Jul 2017 21:05:08
Ken
That's up to Jose, he picks the team and if he decides to play fellaini he will, he knows best .
You might not rate him it looks like Jose does .
I'm not a fan of matic he was great when Chelsea first signed him but was poor last season but Chelsea still won the league .
Ivanovic was awful but Chelsea won it .
Moses was excellent big part in how Chelsea set up yet no one on here would of rated him at the start of the season .

It's Jose squad he has been backed by the club he needs to get the best out of his team .
He couldn't do that in his last season at Chelsea, conte could .

But Jose doesn't have to play fellaini it his choice, or the other players you don't rate .
Jose picks the team, the players we keep the players we buy, based on what he thinks, who he rates.
If you don't agree with him that's your choice.

17.) 28 Jul 2017 21:07:43
Smelling and Jones have both won the league .

18.) 28 Jul 2017 21:23:06
This is a far better squad than lvg had and Jose imo is a far better manager than lvg.
Add another 1 maybe 2 players like Jose has said he wants and tben its up to him .

Ken, Stand you may think he is wrong but I'm backing Jose judgement .

19.) 28 Jul 2017 18:51:05
Would it be Jose as he said it publicly.

20.) 28 Jul 2017 22:05:29
I can't decide what I think on our squad. On the one hand I think it's good enough, on the other I look at our starting 11 every week and think there's no way the opposition are worried about this lot.

21.) 28 Jul 2017 22:43:58
I had this debate with noucamp last year i thinj spurs Chelsea and city all have much stronger squads than ours. If we add 2 or 3 more high quality players and promote a couple and sell 4 or so players i'd be delighted.

22.) 28 Jul 2017 23:13:23
Ken
Chelsea played almost a first 14 they never had any Europe major difference .
Man for man I don't think they have a better squad .
Amazing Jose had the same squad bar Luiz in 16th .

Gds comp next to no one if any had Chelsea winning the league, fans change there mind at a wim

Jose will do what he thinks is best, what if it's not what you think is best?

23.) 28 Jul 2017 23:48:06
Thanks for the lecture jred. i'm aware who picks the team. This forum allows people share their opinions and debate. To use your own words back at you it would be a dull site if we all ageeed with evrrything jose says or does. But you chsnge like the wind and forget when some of your own predictions and opinions are proven wrong.

24.) 28 Jul 2017 21:19:32
Killahvirusofhollowvisions, Actually not, he made 17 appearances 3 of them as a sub conceded 17 goals in those games only 2 clean sheets we only won 10 of the games he appeared in and won nearly a full half point less per game when he played than when he didn't.

25.) 29 Jul 2017 00:35:22
Ken
It's not a lecture it's an opinion.
#worse sjw ad in 22 year.

Jose will do what he thinks is best, what if it's not what you think is best? lol.

26.) 29 Jul 2017 00:41:47
Ken, Killahvirusofhollowvisions.
Eh? Are you causing arguments some where else?

27.) 29 Jul 2017 08:42:44

Ken
Getting mixed up with who he is being a keyboard warrior with .
Jones won a EPL but glory hunting fans won't like that.

Hi everyone first time poster! always read the rumours u guys put up and love to hear what the eds put up, do any of the eds have any more info of fabinho almost being a done deal? thanks in advance.

Cjlewington

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of it being almost a done deal but I do expect it to happen.}

1.) 22 Jun 2017 19:16:03
Thanks very much for your quick reply 👍.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

2.) 22 Jun 2017 23:09:41
Some positive news (well hopefully! ) from you ed001. Cheers.

Caolán.

3.) 23 Jun 2017 18:28:12
Ed001 what is your view on salah?

{Ed001's Note - I like him, looks a really good player, if he can settle in England this time around.}

4.) 23 Jun 2017 18:44:15
Yeah has looked good at Roma but will he settle up here in the north when he couldn't down south? Be interesting.

{Ed001's Note - I think there was a lot more to it than that. He is not a young kid any more for starters.}

Your guessing that if we spend 70mill on one player that we won't have enough, no one knows how much we have to spent so surely it's not "rocket science" to stop worrying about the funds an just worry about get the best players an let the manager an the club to worry about the funds an if they can afford it.

Cjlewington

1.) 11 Jun 2018 19:19:46
Not really. Anyone with a basic level understanding of football knows that no club has infinite transfer and wage funds, so they have to prioritise.

And it's not the manager who decides how much a club spends.

2.) 11 Jun 2018 20:13:09
The Glazers have never spent more than 150 million in a single window so that's a rough guideline. We've spent around 60-70 so far. So unless there's any sales to add to that we're looking at 80-90 million. Blowing most of that on a centre back. when we need a left back and a right forward won't leave a lot.

3.) 11 Jun 2018 20:43:29
We do not know how the finances of MU work so let’s not say one figure or another for x, y and z and just let the club do it’s business. Matters not the figures we hear as it’ll most likely be inaccurate and we won’t know how and when we will be paying the transfer fees.

4.) 11 Jun 2018 23:12:33
I’d expect Blind, Darmian and one of Jones, Smalling or Rojo to be sold and Fellaini off the books leaves wages and some transfer revenue to spend.

5.) 12 Jun 2018 07:48:16
Agreed Eric. Also, i can't see martial here next year and if united sell him for less than £80m, then they need their heads testing.

6.) 12 Jun 2018 07:59:40
I agree AAA. Although can’t see him leaving unless somebody pays big time for him. Seems there is it not enough room for him and Rashford and in that case I’d choose Rash.

11 Jun 2018 15:39:34
Scholes_18_18, I don't get why people are worried about money, the club has plenty of it, we as fans want our club to win every trophy they can an now days if that's what u want u have to pay the big bucks to get the top players it's as simple as that! hate to say it but just look at city they spent a fortune BUT they spent it on the right players an they won the league with ease! stop worrying about the money an let's hope we get the top players and win the premier league again!

Cjlewington

1.) 11 Jun 2018 16:08:13
People are concerned about money because the club is a business intended to reap optimum profits for the owners. We do not have infinite transfer funds and, as such, overspending on a player will likely have an impact on our ability to sign others. So, if we splash £70 million on a cb, this could reduce the funds we have available to sign a lb. And that’s before wage budget is taken into consideration. It’s not rocket science.

2.) 11 Jun 2018 16:47:27
People are concerned about money given the ever increasing prices players go for, the fact we're self reliant rather than relying on oil billionaires, and the amount of money we've burned through in the last 5-6 years on players who have disappointed, not been up to it, mentally weak or just not good enough. No problem with paying for quality if its a good deal. But given how mishit we've been understandably people are a little cautious.

3.) 11 Jun 2018 21:43:51
It's not our money who cares . Couldn't care how much they spend on any player as long as they get the players when they are available. 😆😆.

10 Jun 2018 21:02:38
Tbh I don't care how much he cost! it's not my money, if a player of that quality is available I would do what it takes to get him! if we get Toby he will make our team a lot better so let's hope he comes.

Cjlewington

1.) 10 Jun 2018 21:40:44
Seen far too many people worried about cost recently Cj.

2.) 10 Jun 2018 22:13:45
The problem isn’t cost, it’s prioritising where the bulk of our budget should go. For me, and I suspect a few others, the bulk of our remaining budget should go on a top LB and RW. They are areas we simply must strengthen well. Once they are sorted I’d look for a CB.

If however, we were to blow £50-60m or whatever Spurs want on Alderweireld, I’d worry we won’t be able to spend much on those positions which I feel we need strengthened more, or ever worse, we could go into next season with Young and Mata still in the starting 11.

3.) 10 Jun 2018 22:21:11
If Young and Valencia start our first game next season heads should roll.

4.) 11 Jun 2018 00:52:21
Correct Jazza.
