Anyone know why Valdes wasn't included in the pre-season tour? His agent claims he's staying?

Dale!

1.) 13 Jul 2015 20:09:43
I thought this was odd as well. Rafael I can understand but Valdes?

2.) 13 Jul 2015 20:52:18
Apparently Real Madrid want him and are prepared to swap Sergio Ramos for him!😋 ha! Ha!
Seriously wouldn't mind oblak with Valdes going to athletico!!

3.) 13 Jul 2015 20:56:14
Both have been given time off after the copa cup

4.) 13 Jul 2015 21:03:50
Pure guess work but i reckon that Valdes wants to be guaranteed no.1 should DDG go, I think LVG said he cannot give him that guarantee so Valdes is looking elsewhere.

5.) 13 Jul 2015 22:06:01
Mydreamsarered, are they both still tired from staying up so late to watch the games?

6.) 13 Jul 2015 22:41:13

Brilliant I spat my drink everywhere then lol

7.) 14 Jul 2015 09:19:46

Anyone watching the Bayern game!!
Lewandowski. WOW 😅

Dale!

1.) 22 Sep 2015 20:27:27
Incredible stuff almost got a sixth just there

2.) 22 Sep 2015 20:32:02
most mental 9 minutes ever

3.) 22 Sep 2015 20:50:42
I seem to recall I got told in summer by someone on here that he wasn't all that reliable as a goalscorer and his record wasn't that good. Ah well.

4.) 22 Sep 2015 20:58:09
The last one was class.

5.) 22 Sep 2015 21:20:43
That's nothing , Rooney has scored SIX goals in 9 months for United!

6.) 22 Sep 2015 21:33:45
redman
lol you will of been watching your boy eh

7.) 22 Sep 2015 21:48:15
:-) Betty

8.) 22 Sep 2015 21:55:17
Jred

No need to watch, I know how good he is!

9.) 22 Sep 2015 22:13:19
What you smiling about Brendan , did I miss something?
What do you mean , minutes not months?
Sorry!!

10.) 22 Sep 2015 23:41:44
Red man and I have been salivating over him for some time. The guy is the best target man around.

11.) 23 Sep 2015 00:37:46
I know everybody is creaming over Lewandowski and rightly so but what about this kid Douglas Costa Bayern have picked up in the summer? He looks marvellous and he shifts with the ball with such pace yet with such elegance.

12.) 23 Sep 2015 01:19:15
You two make a lovely couple, NM :) I don't want to burst your bubble, but quite a few people think he's pretty good.

13.) 23 Sep 2015 07:55:36
i think pep has got it right , lewandowski has been on the bench last couple of games .
impact sub

14.) 23 Sep 2015 08:04:11
maze
costs has had a great start to the season

15.) 23 Sep 2015 09:57:21
He has indeed jred, he is a real threat. I think he played against Moyes United in the CL with Donesk but I never saw anything special about him that night but now he is like a house on fire. Good age to sign for Bayern too as he has decent experience but can be coached much further also.

16.) 23 Sep 2015 10:18:05
maze
agree with that.
i looks like one of them players that where ready to make the step up and dhow what they can do

17.) 23 Sep 2015 10:20:20
I'm a massive fan of Douglas Costa.

18.) 23 Sep 2015 11:48:39
ctr
its a good shout , he has started the season great

19.) 23 Sep 2015 13:07:13
Would just like to add Lewandowski scored more league goals in 9 minutes last night than Liverpool have done so r this season. Go Brenda!

20.) 23 Sep 2015 14:29:42
Weren't we supposed to be signing Douglas costa before he went to shaktar?

21.) 23 Sep 2015 14:43:15
Rodgers in!!

31 Aug 2015 19:11:42
What do we reckon guys, any more incomings??

Dale!

30 Aug 2015 17:23:46
We best be rejecting any bids for De Gea

Dale!

1.) 30 Aug 2015 17:35:40
He won't play for this club again.

2.) 30 Aug 2015 17:40:48
The problem with this goalie is he seems to be unable to move the ball around quick enough and holds on to it.

27 Aug 2015 22:06:24
Against Swansea I think we should be playing with Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin and Herrera in a midfield 3. Herrera the most advanced. Swansea are a very good side and Schweinsteiger and Herrera are so good at keeping the ball.
I also think either Young or Valencia should be playing RW. This is to help Darmain with the threat of Montero who is a very quick player and let's face it, as good as Mata is, he is very slow 😂

But with LvG you never know.

What do you guys think?

Dale!

1.) 27 Aug 2015 22:20:03
I think Carrick has to be 1st choice in any midfield formation

2.) 27 Aug 2015 22:46:57
Mata comes inside which drags the fullback and possibly a wingback backwards. It's the same reason memphis who seems to be predominantly right footed plays on the left. Ronaldo/ Bale, Ribery / Robben, even neymar and Messi (yes I know I'm not putting them in the same bracket) all play opposite sides to there best natural foot. It's later in the game if winning that you might revert to having naturally sided players such as young coming on to the right side yesterday for mata creating more width into the corners when counter attacking to push the other teams back. When you play alternate footed wingers that naturally come inside your are pinning the opposition defence and pushing them back including any protective midfielders. It's one of the reasons why teams are appearing to "park the bus", it's because they are being forces too.

3.) 27 Aug 2015 22:49:41
Definitely not Valencia on the right wing and Herrera is not good at keeping the ball, the rest I agree with.

I am really looking forward to seeing Darmian challenged by montero, he's one of the best left wingers in the league and we are yet to see Darmian put a foot wrong.

4.) 27 Aug 2015 22:59:55
Yes Dale I agree. I would like to have Young or Valencia out there even if Swansea had Razor Ruddock on the wing, but with the flying machine it will be very important.

5.) 27 Aug 2015 23:17:03
I've been saying we need a RW than a CF (if only one player is to be brought in). Our attack is lopsided. Mata needs to be more central, or play Herrera in a more advanced role with a speedy RW. With the players we have in midfield, its very difficult for Van Gaal to play both Herrera and Mata but I guess that will sort itself out over the season with the huge number of games to play for.

6.) 28 Aug 2015 05:42:49
Why pep. He is not add good as BS in any way shape or form and I'm pretty sure that anybody who knows anything about football would agree. Carrick has beena fantastic player and will make a big contribution this season but to say he should be first choice of our midfield options is laughable. We can't live in the past. I'm wrote sure BS will start most of the big games when fit and available this season. MS plays a different role and if we play a midfield 3 herrera or fellaini will be the one to compliment bs and ms. Carrick will share the holding role with BS but will become the 1st choice and rightly so

7.) 28 Aug 2015 07:16:53
I think it's very premature to write off Carrick as a first team starter Ken. I don't think it is 'laughable' of Pep to suggest Carrick should start and I would be very surprised if he doesn't start the game against Swansea.

I am a fan of Bastian and as he gets fitter and adapts his game to the EPL he will be very valuable to us. I don't think Bastian should start every big game (unless he is literally on fire) as that is often when Carrick comes to the fore. Carrick knows this league very well and he knows the oppositions players very well and could contribute immensely during the bigger fixtures.

Let's not get carried away with Bastian, he has done well so far but he hasn't exactly bossed games the way Carrick done for us last season. Having said that as the season progresses and Bastian gets fitter I fully expect him to control many games and swagger around the midfield.

8.) 28 Aug 2015 08:37:55
Did you read what I wrote maze? I did not write off Carrick as a starter and said he will make a great contribution but he is not in the same class as BS.
BS is one of only 2 genuine world class players in our squad and the other is sat in the stands at the moment and rightly so IMO.
Carrick may well start on Sunday and I don't have any great objection to that but as the season goes on BS will start the big ones because he is the best player and will be the most influential going forward.
So to suggest that no matter what carrick should be 1st choice in our midfield is laughable.

9.) 28 Aug 2015 08:49:18
I think Fellaini will start. It will be a tough game and we have struggled against them for some reason the past couple of seasons and their set up gives us issues.

10.) 28 Aug 2015 08:52:24
Dale I think you are spot on. I don't see the same potential in Adnan as so many others do. Ïve watched him closely over the past 2 yeasts and I just don't see anything special. Mata must keep his place beast I think he is playing well he has a creative spark and if herrera plays in his best position Which is as a box to box midfielder ahead of a 6 then he links well with mata.
Herrera is not a no 10 and never plays as a no 10 is not his best position. He started so poorly on wed it was embarrassing for him but did get better. I would prefer if we played with a 6 bs / mc and 2 box to box with any 2 from fellaini herrera and morgan

11.) 28 Aug 2015 08:57:11
I think you are letting player reputation run the rule over your decsion here Ken but time will tell I guess.

12.) 28 Aug 2015 09:34:26
Scneiderlin and Carrick are better at keeping the ball than Hererra, i think Ander would benefit our team more but Schmidfield and Carrick keep the ball better.

13.) 28 Aug 2015 09:47:39
do you think we signed BS as back up to carrick?
I don't think anyone would dispute BS is a world class player and we don't have many of those

14.) 28 Aug 2015 10:19:25
Threat of montero? What threat? Ivanovic is just a makeshift RB. Callum Mcmanaman proved my point.

Just watched the game on MUTV.
Thought I'd give my take on it and see what you guys thought.
1st half - I thought the young goalkeeper did extremely well. Big step up from Preston but I'm sure he was on a high from their promotion.
Darmian impressed me a lot as well was good going forward and steady at the back. An improvement on what we had for sure.
Schneiderlin was good patrolling the middle of the park a massive presence and not scared to get stuck in. And of course scored a very good header for us.
Memphis had a good game. Some nice touches, looked dangerous and looks like he will be a very good signing for us.
I'm not sure about Blind playing as a centre back, he seriously lacks pace. Also Mata at RW is a concern for me. He is better in the middle. Would have been good to see him and Memphis swapping every now and again.
Second half - McNair was brilliant at RB, didn't realise he could play there but being versatile is a trait LVG likes. Was very good at getting forward and created a couple of chances for us.
Scweinsteiger! Was just awesome seeing him in a United shirt. Showed his class. I think his experience and leadership will be very important for us.
Herrera just oozes class. He has to be in the team. So good at keeping the ball and moving it quickly. Definitely had the greatest impact out of all the signings from last season.
Pereira looks like a little gem. Would like to see him get more game time next season. Always looked dangerous going forward. Good on the ball. Also worked hard for the team and tracked back and got stuck in.
I thought it was a tough game for us. They were a strong, quick team and it was a good result.
I know it's the first game of the season but I'd like to see more from Shaw and Januzaj this season.

On a separate not I think we are only going to look at a CB and ST only a GK if De Gea leaves.

Cheers.

Dale!

1.) 18 Jul 2015 14:25:59
Good report, Dale. 1st half all the new signings showed promise. We played 3-4-3 with Depay and Mata playing off Rooney. Darmian looked intelligent at RB, Depay showed confidence and a few flashes. For a young player like him, it is better to see ambitious mistakes in his passes than nervous mistakes. But Schneiderlin, by far, as you said, shows a huge presence in the middle. He will make a real difference this season.

At GK, Johnstone did well coming out, and grew in confidence, though his distribution was hesitant and labored.

Second half, 4-4-2. Schweinsteiger looked a captain from the first minute, and had a good understanding with Herrera. On the left side, Blackett was all over the place positionally. Pereira at LM was good on the ball, and put a few good crosses in, though I would like to see him take his man one on one. The right side was more fluid with McNair getting forward and working well with Lingard. McNaIr really knows how to play, I hope to see him keep developing this year.

Wilson and Januzaj were both a little frustrating up front. I love Wilson's speed and work rate, but too many plays just don't quite come off. Januzaj shows his ability at times, but then looks quite soft. One play comes to mind where Pereira put in a perfect cross at chest height and Januzaj stuck his toe at it and missed rather than attacking it with his head. Too often he still plays more like a boy than a man.

Fellaini and Valencia did not play yet, and neither did one David de Gea.

2.) 18 Jul 2015 16:50:41
Wilson needs to vary his speed. He's always moving at 100% making no adjustment for the play around him.

Evans showed why we should transfer him. His problem is that he makes poor choices.

Agreed about Blackett. He seems to have regressed after a promising debut last season.

I don't see how you can think he's past it?! In the World Cup Final in my opinion he was 'Man of the Match'. He ca do it on the biggest stage! Exactly what we need going forward.

Bgolog. I hope you're right and either Hummels or Reus.

But I do think the Bundesliga is closer to EPL than any other league. He's at a good team and I hope he does well there.

I may not post a lot but I've been visiting this site for many years now.

I haven't seen anything of Martial tbh. But I did see a lot of Navas at the WC last year and he was one of the reasons Costa Rica did well.

I really hope there is something else in the pipeline though because we are short in a lot of areas.

I'm also disappointed Pereira hasn't had a look in yet.
