I'm not totally shocked but still totally disappointed.

Citeh are going to dominate and we're stuck with a senile Dutchman.

I am probably being short-sighted but I truly believe this is terrible news.

Yes agree they have been planning it since 2012 just shoes their long term plans withe training facilities etc I wonder what Utd 's board have been doing?

2.) 01 Feb 2016 13:49:22
Same as when Pedro signed for Chelsea, game over, might as well give them the title now. Oh wait.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 21:19:36
Gds, what the hell are you talking about? No one thought Pedro was going to be the world class player we missed out on. He's a very good player.
What's happening at City now is a lot bigger than you are making out. Dismiss them at your peril.

Afternoon chaps

Been meaning to post this for an age but life keeps distracting me.

In the current squad I'm a little worried about the lack of role models for the younger players. More precisely in their respective positions.

As wingers who will teach the game to Memphis and lingard?
Who will teach martial the tricks of the trade?
Etc

I believe we are seeing improvements to smalling partly as a result of playing with rio and vidic for so long and now applying those in-game.
In the past we have always had quality experience players to help bed the youngsters in and mentor them.

I'm not saying we don't have any experienced players I just question whether the youth system is anywhere near as effective as it once was.

i think schweinsteiger is a role model invaluable for the kids.

2.) 07 Nov 2015 13:47:08
If you're a winger, you only need to look at our assistant manager, Ryan giggs for advise etc. He was one of the best that played the game.
I do agree that our wingers are lacking though, but that could be due to the poor quality we have rather than the advise being given to them.

3.) 07 Nov 2015 13:55:57
Bastian is an all round incredible role model, then we have our captain who despite his recent form is still looked up to massively by the rest of the players. As for wingers, our assistant manager is Ryan Giggs, don't think you could ask for much more than that.
Carrick, Smallig, Young, Valencia have also had plenty of experience at our club and I'm sure help out the youngsters a lot.

4.) 07 Nov 2015 14:24:44
Schweinsteiger and Giggs in particular are the stand out names. Giggs is meant to be really helping Memphis to find his way.

You also have to include Rooney. Whether you like him or not he has done it all before and on paper will be our greatest ever goalscorer.

5.) 07 Nov 2015 14:29:30
I dread to think what Wayne's teaching them :)

6.) 07 Nov 2015 13:08:43
I see your point Jack but I have to say I think we have a few more experienced characters in and around the club than most. In terms of the players you have mentioned the great Ryan Giggs would be the ultimate role model for any winger looking to develop thier game.

Martial has Rooney to approach should he need advice which may be very beneficial to him as Rooney knows what it is like to hyped up as the next greatest thing at Old Trafford. On top of that we have players like Carrick and Bastian who have been around the block with CV's littered with trophies. As for Smalling I agree playing alongside Rio and Vida in their hay day would have been beneficial but it hasn't been until the past eight months or so he has really grown.

I would put this down to him working harder, taking on more responsibility and thriving without the pressures of worrying about competition for places. I think LVG has got the best out of him and for that I am glad.

Just reading Jenas' article today on Charlie Austin, how would everybody here feel if we shelled out 15m for him??

I'll say if we already had a top striker and he was bought as an option I wouldn't mind.

Maybe on the deadline day?
One season wonder strikers fail a lot at top clubs

2.) 22 Aug 2015 08:28:15
I think sullivan divulged a bit too much about him. Austin now obviously trying you cover it up. But sounds like he has knee problems. If he hadn't some other club would have surely bought him by now

A right footer on the right is far too conventional for LVG.

I think it's a bit naive and ignorant to think that our rivals signings and business and will not affect us.

These are the teams who we compete against, you have to measure yourself against them especially if they are leaving you in their wake repeatedly and nothing appears to be done to catch up.

I seem to remember the days that we signed players not only for our own needs but to stop them strengthening the opposition.

We are lagging further and further behind, I am a die hard fan and will never stop supporting this club, and I think it takes the piss when other people tell me what the best way of supporting is.
