Eds any info on a Utd possible bid for Juan Cuadrado?

Also any update re Vidal transfer or do you think that has gone cold?

Cheers

King Eric

{Ed002's Note - There has not been a bid from MU for Cuadrado at this time.}

Old uni mate is a proof-reader for a national newspaper and says the talk in the editorial suite is of United going for Juan Cuadrado very shortly with a big money offer and they are very confident of agreeing a deal with Fiorentina

HOWEVER

They are trying to sound out the player's intentions beforehand as there is no point bidding if he has his heart set on moving to Barca.

Fingers crossed Van Gaal can convince him to move to OT!

King Eric

1.) Rather we stayed away he is not worth 30 mil maybe 15 at most

2.) Think Cuadrado is another Nani wouldn't touch him for free rather get a class CM and at least 2 CBs. Midfield worries me if we lose Kagawa and are left with herrera, carsick, fletcher and cleverly.

If anyone has any REAL info on the Vidal situation it would be much appreciated!

Gutted to read his comments about not coming to Utd, hope it's a smokescreen to deflect attention but doesn't sound like it is.

Would be devastated if he ended up at Liverpool and it would make us look a right laughing stock.

Right now I get a grim feeling we might not make any more signings. Don't know why but I can see Ed 'the equalizer' Woodward saying were happy with our squad and looking forward to the new season!

King Eric

1.) Read around it quite a bit and from what I have seen he has said he is not flying to Manchester, he is flying to Juve and that he doesn't know what will happen in the future but he is happy - a pretty standard answer really.

2.) The quotes have since been changed as the video was verified. He was asked at a Chilean airport whether he was going to Manchester, he replied. "No, no."

That was it. But Sky Italia who turned it into "Vidal will not sign for Manchester United" have backtracked due to the video being public. Very funny really.

Liverpool have zero chance of signing Vidal. There isn't even any interest, it's an invention by the Daily Fail. Vidal is out of their league. They have Joe Allen.

3.) And Ronaldo was "very happy" at United. Money talks.

4.) Totally agree with the posters comments/worries. It is becoming a bit drawn out with the vidal on/off transfer . still think the figures quoted are a lot to pay on the back of, ok a good performance in the world cup but still 27 year old with reducing value and his style of play is a bit worrying with respect to getting injured- would prefer to see pogba coming back even if it takes a bit more cash

5.) Yeah Twitter has exploded saying the move is still on and that the interview was twisted and that it was all said to prevent upsetting Juve fans. Everyone is saying this will hot up from Monday and one Twitter 'agent' says the deal is 100% happening. indeed I guess :/

6.) King Eric the only real info I have is that you need to lighten up and man up.

7.) Cookyman? A few good performances at the World Cup. You clearly haven't watched much football over the last 2-3 seasons Vidal has been one of the top all round midfielders in the world and any change on £40 mill would still be good business.

8.) Hasn't Vidal himself said that his future will be sorted once he is back from his holiday? Therefore there was zero chance of anything happening over the last couple of weeks. And if everyone hasn't learnt not to trust what is said on the internet they need to take themselves into the corner of the room their in and have a little word with themselves. The only reason it seems drawn out is because the papers keep making out they know what's going on.

9.) You can look at it another way. He was asked, Are you going to Manchester? and said "No, no, no". Then said jokingly "I'm going to Lazio".

Which if he was being sarcastic, implies, "Of course i'm going to Manchester, do you think i'm going to Lazio or something?"

You can look at things many ways. The media twist everything to get readers. Be patient, i'm confident he will come to Utd :)

10.) Syd's right, italian media just made a mountain out of a molehill with what vidal said and dailyfail over here have just done the same. I doubt no one will know till a few days in to a transfer agreement the detail will start pouring out. expect it to be all identical reports from everyone.

11.) Come on. I think its clear we will not get Vidal. This is Snider all over again

Get a grip and face facts.

12.) Seriously Getting Bored of People stating he Said he is not coming here. He Simply stated he was not flying to Manchester. A statement has been taken out of Context and so many people are Eating it up like Candy.

I am not stating he is coming but His Response and Body Language did not by any means rule it out.

13.) Ive heard from a member of staff from football side of things at ot that it a done deal. Just need vidal back from hols and juve to sign replacement

I can 100 per cent guarantee I heard direct from staff member n don't see why he would lie

14.) Yes Bakes, exactly the same as Snider!

15.) King Eric
I would be VERY surprised if we do not sign anyone!
Do not take he lack of activity to heart, LVG is new to the club, has new ideas and his own formations etc. He has to see what we have and then decide what we need.
We have players at the squad who may work wonders with how he wants to play. Buying every top player doesn't mean you will win everything, its down to the system that you play.
You never know, maybe one of our younger players may be able to provide something that we need.
Be patient, we don't want to panic buy just for the hell of it like last season.

16.) Ryan 12- I have probably seen as much football as most and I didn't say he wasnt a good player but his value and prominance has risen with the transfer talk to man utd and the world cup. if he was that great why hasn't he been snapped up in the last 2-3 seasons? at the end of the day facts are facts, and he ain't getting younger and with his style of football, imo, he is prone to injury and at his age although far from finished I think we could get a better deal for a longer period by going for someone else-chill man:)

17.) 25 Jul 2014 13:01:37
My view on this is don't believe what you read in the press positive or negative. If we believe them then we have signed and sealed Vidal about 50 times this summer already but have lost out on him just as many times.

The most viable "source" I'd imagine anyone on this site has is the information provided by Ed002. The Ed is asked probably 10-15 times per day who we are signing so if there are any updates they will say so however, this isn't football manager and deals can be very complicated. From the information the Ed has given us we are very interested, have either made a bid or are about to make a further bid.

18.) 25 Jul 2014 14:13:40
No, we have one LB and 3 CB, and one of the bosses favourite systems uses all of them at once. We can't rely entirely on youth players for backup, so we will still sign cover for Shaw and another CB at minimum this window.

We don't want to disrupt the team with too many signings at once, so attacking signings may wait for now, but we will get the essentials.

19.) Who's Snider baked? i'm sure we tried to sign someone called Schnyder a few years back?, hm must be mistaken :/

20.) For gods sake he will either sign or he won't! if not we will look at someone else.
As for Liverpool getting him I think there's more chance of signing 1970's Pele. He would not even be on their radar nor they on his.

so many drama queens and still 6 weeks of the window to go :(

21.) Must of missed that one Mxtionless because I know we were after Wesley Sneijder, Fergie must have kepy Schnyder well under wraps

22.) Cookyman I honestly don't see how the worldcup has raised his value he was good but not the standard he has been for juve. My head says sign a deeper cm but my heart wants us to sign him.

23.) . 9Matt2. Ronaldo was very happy at United, it was his boyhood dream 2 play 4 Madrid, we all knew he was going 2 Madrid, we got an extra year out of him because he loved United/FERGIE he left United 'very happy' but sad cause he was leaving, it had NOTHING 2 do with money, United did the honourable thing & let him go, u make it sound like we got rid of him 4 the money(money talks u said) if Madrid offered United the 80million they offered & Ronaldo didn't want 2 leave trust me United wouldn't of sold him. so b4 knocking Ronaldo let's get the facts right fella, otherwise u look a bit of a Charlie. Tonguer10

24.) I'm a huge united fan but to be honest all the talk about being the biggest club in world doesn't wash.
We can't attract the players we need, look at Madrid, Ronaldo, Bale and Rod (spelling) identified who they wanted and they got there men.
We are trying to do it again on the cheap, go and get what we need because at the moment we are no way strong enough for top 4 and we all konw it.
The last four or five transfer windows have been very frustrating and this is going the same way.
Why do LVH and DM need that much time to look at the squad when we all can see where we need players and they will have to pay for it, so go for it and stop messing around.
I agree wit a lot of the posts in that I really worry where we will be com e the kick off.
If we honesty believe we are the biggest club in the world then act like it and get what we need, or this year will be very much like last year.

Andy

25.) . Andy25. being the biggest club in the world is not determined by how much money u spend each season fella. if u were a United fan you'd know why there the biggest club in the world, u my friend sound like a chitty fan, buy, buy, buy & not give English or any youth a chance. with your attitude England will never win another World Cup. just saying. Tonguer10

26.) Well said Tonguer.

Utd buy the right player, not the biggest name, always have.

Sometimes the right player costs a lot, sometimes they don't, either way it's about what qualities the player brings, how they play and how they fit into the team, never about how well known they are.

Utd don't usually go for "marquee" signings, apart from RVP (who wasn't exactly a big money deal) the last one was probably Veron.

That's not doing it on the cheap, it's doing it the way Utd have done it all through our successful period.

Real don't "identify their man" they just pick the biggest name they think they can get, and throw money at the owning club.

Utd DO identify their man. They figure out what the weaknesses in the team are, what attributes to look for in a player to fix the weaknesses, then they find out which players have the right attributes, and whether they are available. If there's no-one available, they won't panic buy and get the wrong player (Fellaini aside), they wait until the right player is available.

Compare our success over the last 15 year's or so against Real Madrid's, that should tell you that the "Galactico" strategy of just buying the best players regardless of how they fit togther, doesn't work as well as our way.

27.) Tonguer10, you missed the point I was making (even if badly), not a city fan, but if we want Vidal and we believe he is what we need then we need to go and get him, not hold back.
I'm not saying we should spend the most money far from ii, but if you believe what we have now is enough to finish above city and Chelsea you are mistaken.
We do need investment (some would argue that we have for years) in a lot of areas, The point about Madrid, is they go and do it, ours drag and drag and we often don't get our man.
Hope that makes it clearer and I hope I'm wrong and the players come in.

28.) Andy25 - What makes you so sure Vidal is what we need?
He is great, but we just bought Herrera to play the same role, what we NEED now is at least one central defender, cover for left back, and ideally a young defensive midfielder as short term cover and long term replacement for Carrick.

Vidal is a luxury. It would be nice to get him, because he is one of the best in the world, but we certainly don't NEED him.

29.) How can one of the best midfielders on the planet be a luxury when our squad features Fellani, cleverly, carrick, Anderson. Unbelievable.

30.) Because Vidal wouldn't replace any of them. He'd be taking Herrera's place, because Herrera and Vidal play the same role.

That is why we need a more defensive midfielder. Not another box-to-box midfielder.

31.) I think Herrera can play number 6 or 8 and I don't thin the same 11 play the same formation every week

32.) Yes, he can play that role, but he isn't that good at it, and it's going to be a real shame if we paid that much for a player that good and then stick him in his 3rd or 4th best position, when we already have Carrick, Fletcher and even Jones who can all do that role better than him.

We need someone who is actually good in the no 6 role.

That's why Vidal would be a luxury.

Eds any update on where Carvalho is going to?

King Eric

{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages for such information.}

15 Aug 2014 13:47:26
ED do you have any positive transfer news/rumours for Utd fans?

Seems as though Vidal if off, Rojo has stalled, Cuadrado is off to Bayern & Di Maria will either go to PSG or stay at Madrid!

King Eric

{Ed002's Note - You have written up a nice little summary yourself - obviously I don't agree with it.}

1.) This is the first time I have read about Cuadrado to Bayern.

2.) 15 Aug 2014 14:18:45
King Eric,

You are the most negative poster on here bar none, your posts are getting more and more boring by the day.

3.) Well is there anything positive? We've actually made the squad weaker this summer and now we are running out of time. I can't believe we are even in this position, especially after last year, do we not learn? I love United, but this is pathetic

4.) 15 Aug 2014 16:14:10
Is there anything positive? Read my post from yesterday about this. If you have not seen anything positive in this pre season then you might as well stop watching now.

5.) 15 Aug 2014 16:26:56
oh my word some people need a slap, calm down would you. Everyone keeps going on about how badly we did last season which we did in fairness but that was down to Moyes. The majority of players are proven PL winners, some yes are getting old but others are getting into their prime.

Okay we need possibly 3-4 more top quality signings to where we want to be but where we want to be is comfortably stronger that our PL doesn't mean we're not in with a very strong shout of winning the league. This season I reckon a lot of teams could underestimate us, especially if we don't sign the players we want BUT that'll only work in our favour. I don't see the point or reason in being SO pessimistic. For christ sake LVG in charge is a big enough signing by itself, all the players believe in him and he knows his football so there's really no need to be so negative. Not every single big signing performs to the best of their ability and turns out as good as people hope.

People have an annoying obsession with spending big and bringing big name players in but it just doesn't always work well. Just have a bit of faith and believe in the club you supposedly support.

6.) I'm only talking about transfers GDS2.

7.) 15 Aug 2014 16:16:23
I reckon its going to be a busy couple of weeks transfer wise at Manchester United do you agree Ed002

{Ed002's Note - The club are still trying to make some deals happen.}

GOOD NEWS:

Daley Blind spotted in Manchester house hunting!

BAD NEWS:

Marcos Rojo - Won't happen due to legal dispute between Sporting & Doyen Sports Management Co over 3rd party ownership. This one will end up in court and the poor lad will be stuck at Sporting until it resolves

Arturo Vidal - Wont' happen as Juve have given Utd until tomorrow to sign the player. Not enough time and if Van Gaal had really wanted him he would be in a red shirt by now.

Juan Cuadrado:

Fancies Barca and will wait for them until last minute by which time it will be too late for us to sign him.

Angel Di Maria:

Fancies PSG and the sums involved are putting everyone off.

King Eric

1.) 14 Aug 2014 12:44:24
Eric,

All twitter rumours mate. i.e. a load of rubbish.

2.) 14 Aug 2014 13:30:18
King Eric. I find myself disagreeing with almost all of your posts lately.
Vidal or Carvalho will happen. And obviously we ARE interested. Do you think it's a case of LVG just going " I want that 1", and then that makes the player his?.
I am however, like most of us, confused over the Cuadrado situation.
I personally wouldn't be too ecstatic over Blind, although we need a John Oshea type utility player, and he is a bit of a 'jack of all', it's the 'master of none' that concerns me. As I think Jones is seen as RCB by LVG but that's me guessing.
I really think that we'll get Marcos too.

3.) Juventus have not given utd a deadline! utter rubish!

as for sporting want legal action with rojo's representatives is rubbish also. why would sporting take legal action against something they agreed to when the got the transfer of rojo! they would be a laughting stock if they took that to fifa! sporting know this and want as much as they can get for him so they get a decent amount of money! simple!

12 Aug 2014 14:56:39
Eds do you have any news on any imminent transfers?

We have been linking with Di Maria, Blind, Vidal, Cuadrado all summer but with the season 4 days away and the end of the transfer window now less than 3 weeks away are you confident that Utd are going to sign ANYONE?

King Eric

{Ed002's Note - I have explained already - why waste my time?}

08 Aug 2014 13:27:42
1) Vermaelen deal to Utd is off as he's going to Barca.

2) Cuadrado fancies Barca more than Utd.

3) Vidal's knee is a BIG concern to Van Gaal and is stopping him form buying the player.

Can't see us signing anyone else. The season starts in 8 days and Van Gaal has said he wants his team in place by then. Think we have to be happy with Shaw and Herrera this window and hope Van Gaal can guide us to 4th so we can entice players next summer with the lure of Champions League football.

King Eric

1.) Exactly what I wrote a few days ago chap, once again dragging our heals and woodward giving it the big'n with we got loadsa money & utd are still a huge draw for players! Its all rubbish.
Im glad we've signed shaw n herrera but that's hasn't really improved anythin on last years very weak team. i'm praying things change but can't quite see it. :(

2.) King Eric

This is what I'm afraid of, too.

3.) 08 Aug 2014 14:08:40
Al,

Shaw and Herrera haven't improved anything? Is that a wind up?

4.) I may be being optimistic, but I would expect at least one deal to be completed this week. We are still in with a good shout of getting Blind, De Jong, Cuadrado and Vidal - although not so sure of the centre back.

5.) Shaw and Herrera haven't improved us from last year? i'm speechless sometimes I really am

6.) 08 Aug 2014 14:35:36
United AL,

Vermaelen moving to Barca because Wenger is reluctant to sell to United after the RVP outcome - United dragging heals and Woodwards fault?
Cuadrado PREFERS Barca to United - United dragging heals and Woodwards fault?
LVG has concerns over a genuine knee injury for Vidal - United dragging heals and Woodwards fault?

Brilliant.

7.) GDS2

What Al is saying is that compared to Chelsea, City we are miles behind.
We need investment, Vidal and Hummels and Cuarado if possible would put us right back in the mix.
I would put money on us winning the title if LVG brings in the three mentioned.
I don't get it, if we want the player put the bloody bid in and get the negotiations under way.
It drives me insane the way we f*rt about when other clubs just get there business done, it really is ridiculous.
Every transfer target is just drawn out to the fullest and it's getting boring now.

8.) That is a joke Herrera and shaw has improved us loads in the area we most needed it, now we got to hope the new manager and new style of play can get us into 4th with this team which I reckon he can and Liverpool back down to 7th, thou centre back is very worrying

9.) 08 Aug 2014 14:59:46
I wonder if van Gaal will have the same concerns about Strootman's injury.

10.) GDS you have no chance mate some people on here refuse to see what's in front of em! The improvement on last year is astonishing and seems to be getting exponentially better.

11.) Herrera & shaw filled our most needed areas? Haha that's a good 1. We lost vidic, & ferdinand, no1 to replace them yet?important I thought but anyway we've still got from last season young, fellaini, anderson (regardless to his loan) tom cleverly & nani. players that so clearly stood out as our best?! sorry reddevil you shot me down I stand corrected. joker ha!

Unless Utd pull a 'rabbit out of a hat' the Rojo signing will be the last before the window shuts:

Vidal - Staying at Juve

Di Maria - Agreed loan to PSG

Hummels - Going to Barca

Cuadrado - Probably going to Barca

Benatia - Probably going to Bayern

Blind - Van Gaal doesn't fancy him as we could have signed him any time during the last 4 weeks and still haven't done so!

Depay - Possible but honestly he's no better than an in-form Valencia or Januzaj.

Veltman - Possibly but young, raw and no better than an in-form Jones.

Reus - Staying at Dortmund then going to Bayern in 2015.

Like I said. unless Utd come up with someone that no one in the world of football has linked them to yet, Rojo will be the best they buy.

King Eric

Not heard anything about Vidal (suspect we can file him under the same heading as Sneijder, Thiago & Fabregas). however just heard a REAL rumour:

Heard this from a mate who works in the sports betting industry - Utd have offered personal terms that are acceptable to Marcos Rojo and have made an offer that is acceptable to Sporting.

The fly in the ointment however is Nani. The deal is £17m plus Nani on loan for the remainder of the season (with Utd covering his wages and an option to buy at the end of the season).

However Nani is non too thrilled about the prospect of Portuguese domestic football (something he thought he'd left behind years ago) and would much rather a move to Italy. His agent is sounding out Inter & Roma this week.

Unless Utd can stump up another £7m (making it a straight £24m cash deal) or convince Nani to go back to Sporting then no deal.

Can see Di Maria holding out until the last minute to see if PSG can raise the funds!

Just don't see him wanting to give up Champions League football.

Bet he stays at RM for another season before going next summer to PSG.

Rooney, Van Persie, Hernandez, Wilson - that should be our strike force for the next couple of seasons.

Danny is a good honest, hard working lad who loves the club

BUT

He is not and never will be top quality.

Rooney - Top quality

Van Persie - Top quality

Hernandez - Top quality substitute

Wilson - Top quality potential

Welbeck doesn't fit into any of those categories and at 24 he needs to be playing every week (which he won't under Van Gaal).

If Hull offer serious money then time to move him on and wish him all the best.

King Eric

Welbeck will never be world class and is unlikely to get regular football under Van Gaal so should be let go if we get a big enough offer.
