Hi Eds

I just wondered if you could give us your opinion on how you think Ed Woodward is doing in his job? Everyone was very quick to blame managers like moyes and LVG and I wonder if woodward made any big mistakes? Losing David gill seemed like a big blow at the same time as sir Alex.

{Ed002's Note - Given he doesn't pick the players or the team and his efforts are based around negotiation, there is no obvious measure other than what the club has been paying for players.}

Ed is there a case at united where Woodward or the board reject a certain player if they don’t feel like that is who should be signed? (Perisic springs to mind) .

Or does Jose or whoever is manager have almost full control and presents his targets to Woodward? Or is there more of a compromise relationship?

{Ed002's Note - They have to all work together and Mourinho does not have full control.}

Much appreciated ed.

Based on what we have paid for players - I'm literally amazed he is still in the job. He must cover himself in glory in other areas of responsibility, but on this one area i'd rather have the 'AOL' executives that negotiated the 'Time Warner' deal in charge (that is saying something)!

{Ed002's Note - Unless you can be more specific about your complaint I can't respond.}

4.) 26 Apr 2018 20:02:24
It was more of a general complaint about our waste - excessive transfer fees and wages, for relatively little in return. (comparatively) .

I don't expect you to know the answer here, but if you have any insight it would be appreciated. Do you know if the board have any plans to replace Woody with somebody else regarding transfer business, or if the board have made their views known about the job being done in this department?

Like most Utd fans I am very happy with the amount we have spent in recent years, just very disappointed with many of the acquisitions that don't make sense (for many reasons) . The indecision and desperation we have shown must be a jackpot scenario for agents.

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing specific there B.}

I think the Pogba deal took the biscuit for me. A world record fee with the Agent pocketing an unbelievable sum of money. Then there was Obra, a free transfer but wages that make your eyes water, perception is often only that, it my perception is that Woody is a very talented businessman but not necessarily a football expert. He seems to be very keen on marque signings which is why I believe he will go after Bale if he believes him to be avaiable. As I say, just perception, I have no facts.

Hi Ed's,

Any idea if Carrick is in contention to play this season? It seems likely he will retire at the end of the year too. His passing from deep would have been useful and allow pogba to play higher up the pitch frequently.

{Ed001's Note - they have said he will be back fit to play next month, but it is unlikely he will be match fit. That is saying there is no setbacks in his recovery as well, heart conditions are dangerous things after all.}

Thanks for your reply.

If he is to retire at end of season do you know of any potential replacements man utd are looking at? Any idea if the club looking at winks or verrati?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of interest in either of those two sorry, but the club are looking to replace him in the summer. Too early to know who right now for sure who it will be, but Milinkovic-Savic is the player Jose would most like.}

2.) 15 Jan 2018 10:21:39
Personally I wouldn't risk it. Get him on his coaching badges, have help out with the u18s and then give him an hour in the final home game as a farewell. going to be hard to replace.

Many thanks for your prompt replies Ed.

{Ed001's Note - you are very welcome.}

Hi ed001 just a quick question if you have the time. What is your view as a non Man Utd fan at the way we are progressing and the team that Jose is building? Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - tough one. In terms of the quality of playing staff you are progressing massively, but the on field play has still a long way to go. I feel that is partly down to Jose still missing the players he wants to make things tick. There is defo progress there though, I mean Pogba is growing as a player, Lingard too. You just had a long way to go because the squad had slipped so far under Moyes and LVG.}

5.) 15 Jan 2018 12:53:07
I would agree with that ed you are spot on. I think Jose has no excuses after this summer window and we must be challenging or winning the league next year with the spending that he will have done. As fans we must be rational and see how far we have come from the debacle under Moyes and LVG. There is a resilience and positive atmosphere in the squad which is great to see. However, the style of play is still not entertaining enough but I will fully judge that next season when Jose has the team that he wants. We have the players to play more expansively and I do wish he would take the shackles off more often. Thanks again Ed for your input.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

6.) 15 Jan 2018 13:33:04
Couldn't agree more Ed, definitely think we are going in the right direction under Jose and like you said, we slipped so far under Moyes/ LVG, so it's going to more time than people think, despite spending a fortune. The squad is better, the unity looks good and with a few more signings over the next few windows, we will be right up there again I'm sure. Patience.

I hope his last season with us doesn't just peeter out into a damp squib. He deserves better than that.
