Apparently we expressed interest for Heung-Min Son during the summer, according to his agent. But he preferred Leverkusen.

Nicolas_United

1.) 002 made it clear that the player was more interested in playing time than signing for a big club.

2.) That's rather commendable

3.) Well we may need another Asian shirt seller soon. ;)

Can ed or anyone answer this please, as I couldn't find it anywhere in the UCL rules. If we beat Olympiakos and go through to the round of 8 and Chelsea get knocked out by Galatasaray (not very probable I know), will Mata be eligible to play for us in the competition?

{Ed004's Note - No}

I don't want to justify the team's performance today, it should have been much better.

But we were too unlucky.Their first goal was deflected, we had 2 cbs injured early on, the game was interrupted too many times with injuries, 3 times the ball fell inches away from Mata's feet in the center of the box and last, how on earth did Rooney's free kick stay out?

On the other hand, we just don't look like a top 4 team.Even with our top players back we never seem to hit any consistency.I'm struggling to remember a really good performance from us in the last months.Let's just hope a mini miracle happens tommorow and Liverpool somehow lose to WBA, as the damage in that case won't be big.

ps. Cleverley should get some shooting training.

1.) We are being outfought, outwitted and out-thought, by teams who possess far less quality; by teams who are languishing at the bottom of the table. I just can't get my head around what is going on. The manager has to take responsibility for the way he sets his teams up and the tactics he employs. Yes, the players' need to take responsibility for their individual performances; but if said players' are not buying into the philosophy of the manager, or they are unable to execute his orders on the pitch, then we are going to have a major problem.

I don't think the club will get rid of Moyes' any-time soon. We won't finish top four because we are simply no consistent enough at the moment, so I suspect that the club are willing to except a year out of the champions league. My only worry is: can the manager be trusted - or has the ability - to get us challenging again next season, given the fact that the current top four clubs look miles ahead of us in terms of their football on the pitch?

2.) I agree with you mate, the lack of hunger and fight by some of our players is appaling. We really need to show the door to disinterested players, or players that are simply not good enough.I'm sure during the summer there will be many new faces, carefully chosen by Moyes throughout his time here.

Although I voted for us gaining top four, now it seems very unlikely. It's not the probable 9 point difference. It's the fact that we simply don't perform, with Rvp, Rooney and Mata or without. You have to think that we will have to at least beat Liverpool to retain some chances, but can't see it happening either.

So we've got a vital game tomorrow, with Rooney, RvP, Rafael, Nani, Jones, Fellaini and Young all out.For me we will have to field a side as strong as possible because if we get a bad result again there will be even more pressure on Moyes.De Gea should start and if I were to choose the back four, I would opt for Buttner (after his performance last night), Vidic, Evans and Smalling, who I also found good last night, as right back.Carrick and Fletcher are the strongest midfielders we have available and thus should start.I'd like to see Kagawa, who wasn't as influential as I'd like against Swansea, as an AM with Januzaj on his left and see how they interchange.Valencia on the right and the on-form Welbeck up front. What do you think?

Nicolas_United

{Ed004's Note - I agree same team}

1.) I pretty much agree with your choice apart from Carrick and Fletcher in midfield. I think they would lack energy and could get over run, especially with Januzay maybe not so good tracking back. I would definitely play Kagawa behind the striker as Welbeck was very disappointing in that position yesterday. he's better up front or on the left.

2.) Any team without Tom Cleverly is a good team

3.) Inhope.

Yeah that would be a problem.Considering Kagawa's ineffectiveness yesterday, we could use Anderson instead of him to offer some energy and drive.A midfield three of Carrick, Fletcher and Anderson would do well.

4.) Nicolas_United

That sound better to me, but I get the impression Moyes has no time for Anderson

5.) I think we need to play a midfield 3 and just keep it tight and control things. It might be boring but some of the players who played yesterday will be physically struggling. I believe we will see a boring low scoring game with us potentially nicking it.

6.) Get valencia out the team and put zaha in

Ed can you set a new poll up, asking us fans whether we think that United will finish in the top four this season, as I think that's what we should be aiming for in the league the way things have gone for us.Thanks in advance.

1.) Dear All.

This is more in sorrow than in anger.

I watched today's game and saw a team that was even not a pale shadow of the teams of the past 50 years. Who is responsible for its selection? David Moyes.

This is the 5th home defeat this season. To lose once would have been unfortunate and in years ago unimaginable, but to lose 5 times with a team that bore little resemblance to the best team
looks like stupidity and incompetence, especially when the league looks like a forlorn hope.

Who chooses the teams? Mr Moyes. Who failed totally to strengthen the team properly before the start of the current season? Mr Moyes. (Oh, and Mr Woodford, don't overlook your incompetence either)

I am just a mere supporter. BUT the time has for resignations. David Moyes - be honourable. Recognise that the job at United is too big for you and resign before you and your team inflict irreparable harm to MY beloved team. Mr Woodford, Macclesfield Town needs your skills. Maybe not, they drew with Sheffield instead of losing.

Today was the FINAL straw.

Oh yes, there will be excuses. There will be soft words and explanations. Sorry, Mr Moyes. Goodbye. JUST DO IT NOW. and Sir Mr Ferguson, please do not return to management. We all know what happened when Sir Matt came back.

This is not intended as a rant, but deep felt passion and a call to arms. To all of you fellow supporters, the time has come for you to make your views known. I had hoped that the results in early December meant that I could become Red Sunrise, but that was not to be. We are fast following the path of Liverpool 5 seasons ago, and heaven help us, even Leeds.

I didn’t have the chance to watch the game yesterday and it seems that it was eventually better for me and my nerves.I have watched the highlights and it seems that, once again, we were overrun in midfield.Their first goal reminds me of Bale’s goal at OT about 1 year ago.Absolutely no need to comment on Ferdinand as well.Judging from the posts on here, it seems that we also lacked creativity once more.I’ll have to agree that the fact that we have’t scored from open play since the match with Swansea is worrying to say the least.

I had much faith into the team and Moyes even after our humiliation at the Etihad and thought that we would bounce back during this run of winnable games.I still believe that we will be a threat for the title this season, but if we don’t get the results we need in the next 3-4 league games then I’ll have to change my view.Moyes needs to sort out the team fast and find his strongest lineup, because if we don’t win our next games we will have huge problems.Although it is clearly a transitional season for us, we should still aim to win titles simply because of the fact that we are named Manchester United. If we don’t win the league(which looks very probable right now), then we should finish in top 4 and try win the League Cup or FA Cup and try to put out some good performances in Europe.Who knows, with a bit of luck we can even get to the last 8, can’t we?

In the January transfer window it’s clear we should sign a creative cm and a cb.It will be difficult for sure, but I can’t imagine us going all season with this midfield.Until January though, we should try to play Carrick and Fellaini as often as we can, because that’s our only midfield 2 that will not get overrun easily, even if they are a slow pairing. We should also make Jones or Evans along with Vidic our first options for the cb pairing.Ferdinand should be playing less and less often from now on.Rafael should be playing in rb week in week out. Then let’s hope RvP can come up with a bit of magic in the next games and be our savior once again.

Wednesday looks very far away right now for me.I just can’t wait to see how we respond (once again).

1.) You should of watched the full 90 minutes and you would probably have a different view.we will be nowhere near the top of the prem league this season and unless things change quickly won't be in the top 4.whatever system moyes has asked us to play is obviously not working and quite afew of the team yesterday looked as though they didn't know where they should be playing or what there role was, it was absolutely shocking inechebe bullied ferdinand and evans all game until he was subbed.yesterday was the 1st time in a very long time that boo, s rang out around ot at the final whistle, if moyes thinks he has had pressure so far he's in for a shock if thing don't turn around quickly

I think we still have chances of reaching top 4, although I think it's very hard right now.In my opinion, with all players fit and playing at the right positions, we have a better team than Liverpool. That is just my opinion though and many will disagree with me.Nevertheless, if we manage to make the team start to gel and get results we will be far more dangerous for other teams contesting for European football. We have too much quality to be left out of the top 4.But right now Tottenham, Liverpool and Everton all deserve to be above us and I don't want to take anything away from these clubs.

During Moyes' time at Everton I watched some of their matches and although they were not playing fantasy football, I believe they were decent enough to watch.Quite simply they were not boring for me.If Moyes gets the players he wants in the summer, then I think we could look far more attractive next season.I don't think Moyes wants us to play like we did at Stoke long term(crossing all the time), even if he said we played well.It could just have been his game plan for this particular game (and many others this season). The signing of Mata for me indicates that we are going to play a lot more from the centre of the pitch. Is he that silly to pay 37 millions, break the club record for a world class AM and play him on the right of a 4-4-2?I don't think so.

I think you're right, really poor decisions by Moyes today. But it has happened to many times before as well.I want to support Moyes but he's showing really negative signs.Personally, I would give him time to build his own team and if by May 2015 we haven't at least got close to winning the epl title (3rd-1st place)then I'd sack him.I think managers nowadays should be considered lucky if they are give 2 years time to put things right.

Supposedly the asking price was too high.Just makes you wonder if City refused to pay the asking price, how high could it be?
