On Jose's press conference
1) He said it's important that Sanchez get used to being with Martial and Mata. As we will start attacking with them. so neither Martial or Mata is leaving.

2) Pogba comment were to round round. it was appreciation but also tone of what he need to do to stop repeat of last season under him.

3) youth players get chance to train. He didn't say impress and grab opportunity.

So can't Judge what's different it's going to be from Last season.

Figure crossed for positives.

Eh? .

2.) 19 Jul 2018 10:15:55
Haha, I work in ELT and know a lot of teachers who give private English lessons if you're interested. ;)

3.) 19 Jul 2018 17:27:20
I'm not English. And this much is enough to convey my point i think.

4.) 19 Jul 2018 17:32:45
I'm assuming OOTRD's first language isn't English. Yet he's trying to talk with other United fans on a forum and you lads are ridiculing him. Hardly welcoming for new members is it boys? Give the lad a chance.

5.) 19 Jul 2018 19:28:07
Banter forum. Lighten up - life’s too serious.

6.) 19 Jul 2018 21:59:13
Very well said Wazza.
Eric - not sure that is banter mate, just ignorance.
Like it or not we support a global club now so let's focus on what people say rather than how they say it.
Even our own team captain can't speak English.

7.) 19 Jul 2018 22:57:19
Wazza

Daley Blind departure confirmed. I believe he has been a very good Squad player. And I guess he could have been a useful deep lying midfielder but his versatility has costed him.
Anyway, good Luck to Lad.
Considering our FFP situations, for which Ibrahimovic had to leave. We are in condition that we need to sale first than can buy. So I guess we can spend once we have space in wages and for that we really need to move on Smalling/ Jones (both) , young, Mata etc. I wish we clear stock quickly.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 18 Jul 2018 17:22:46
Yeah like so many of our squad, nice guys but not quite the level required.

I think a massive overhaul is needed, I know people harp on about too much change in personnel is bad, but not in all cases and frankly a massive change is needed if we expect to compete with City and for the CL.

Mata - £30m
Pogba - £70m
Darmian - £20m
Rojo - £20m
Smalling - £20m
Jones - £20m
Herrera - £25m
Martial - £45m
Blind - £15m
Shaw - £15m

That adds up to £280m, let's say we have £150m budget to add to the above sales which is £430m. Granted tax, agents, pay offs, will eat a chunk but let's say we have £350m to spend. That is enough for:

RB - Sidibe - £55m
CB -? - £40m
LB - Sandro - £50m
CM - Thiago - £50m
CM - Savic - £70m
RW -? - £50m

We have already brought Fred in of course, which takes us up to a roughly £350m.

I appreciate this is all rough and there will be multiple options, but if we buy world class players in those positions we will compete. Everyone will have their players they like that I have listed, but I think we can do better and most teams will have a tough start with the World Cup lag, so no better season to have a major overhaul.

2.) 18 Jul 2018 18:09:56
F*ck, if only the world was as simple as the one you live in, Beast.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 18:12:10
Beast I know your the type of poster than divides options on here. sometimes I do agree with what you say.

But how you can say pogba is worth 70 million is a mystery

We don't need a massive overall we need to sign 3 players 4 at most we have some good players

Change of emphasis and style and I think we have a good enough team to compete. That's just my opinion

I would say a cb (toby) is a must a left back (take your pick) and someone like bale for the right and another central midfielder.

I do agree that we need to make signings. regardless if you were winning the lot ever season competition for players is a must for me.

4.) 18 Jul 2018 19:01:43
I think we should keep pogba and martial. Pogba is world class and he will hopefully put in more consistent performances. Don't know why most people want him gone. Martial was on fire before Sanchez arrival so give him another season at least. He's still young and will come good. Rojo and Jones can go. Just not good enough. Shaw needs to prove to everyone that he is depending and will step up. Mata, nice guy but ain't going to win us matches. Herrera is a decent squad player. So is smalling. Darmian is good as gone. I'd give timo more game time than buy a right back.
As for signings varane is a dream. Guy is awesome. Sandro is great as well. Only other player I would buy this window is bale to play on the rw. To be honest I would have gone for mahrez. Proven prem player, shame he went to the dark side.

5.) 18 Jul 2018 19:31:04
Our midfield is fine. Fred replaces Carrick who barely played. We have options for a midfield two or three depending on the opposition.

Beast, we don't need that much surgery done at once. We need a top centre back, recruitment at left back and our defense will be good enough to challenge.

Our main problem is goals from the attacking supporting cast. Lukaku done well last year but I'll expect better in terms of goals. The rest of the forwards don't contribute enough in terms of goals. That's why Bale or a wide player that can get amongst the goals is paramount.

Lukaku was the only player to get into double figures. Martial scored 9, Lingard 8, Rashford 7, Mata 3 and Sanchez 2.

We already don't give too much away at the back and with an improved defense we could do even better. I like our midfield, they too could chip in with a few more but if we can get that one attacker in that can get us over the line against some of the trickier opponents in the league. I think we'd be able to challenge.

A centre back, a left back and a goal scoring winger and we're done!

6.) 18 Jul 2018 19:35:23
That's one hell of a list.
I will only send out Smalling and Jones, Young, Mata and Darmian.
Give chance to Tuanzebe, TFM, and Parreira. And buy both new wing backs and Right side attacker.

7.) 18 Jul 2018 18:58:31
£70m for Pogba was based on what Ed02 said about us struggling to find a buyer and frankly, he has been very hit and miss (mostly miss) for us. Those were very rough sums, but what I was intending to do was show how we can transform our team from a bunch of plodders into a team that possibly dominates!

8.) 18 Jul 2018 19:53:35
Do you honestly think we're going to lose money selling Pogba? Even with the way the market has inflated over the last two years since we've bought him. The lad has just had a brilliant world cup which he was an integral part of why they won it and you're suggesting we sell him off cheap so we can buy SMS for the same price?

I get that it's just an excerise to show how we can recycle the team and get us back to the top, but it's a tad silly.

9.) 18 Jul 2018 19:18:17
Beast, if we could get Thiago for 50m and Savic for 70m, I'd drive them over myself.

10.) 19 Jul 2018 08:32:12
That would take some doing considering the window shuts in 3 weeks.
Toby, Sandro and a RW should be the realistic target.

11.) 19 Jul 2018 10:06:21
Tbh Beast I don't think its not a bad list- unlikely but not bad. To anyone who thinks Pogba should be kept at all costs, -its not the fans doing that he has been offered to other clubs so let's get realistic!
I think martial would command more, as would shaw and getting rid of 3 cb is a bit risky in 1 window but mata - age, lack of game time and possible last big contract - deserves it; herrera not the player of 2 seasons ago.
players in, I think sandro could be on, savic would think would be more money but the positions identified are probably thiose that we need to get in. Still 3 weeks to go folks so who knows?

12.) 19 Jul 2018 17:52:30
Another deano! We're taking over 😂.

13.) 19 Jul 2018 18:26:10
Everytime I think the human race is going to be ok, I come to this message board and am reminded how few humans were given brains. 70mil for pogba? Beyond wanting him gone, which is another topic on which fellow United supporters should have their heads checked, you think we're going to take a 30% loss on a player who just led his team to a WC at 25? Seriously, most of the time it feels like we're watching different teams or even sports.

14.) 19 Jul 2018 18:29:57
IMO, Jose was not getting the best out of the team last season. would be interesting to see how they fare with Rui Faria now gone.

29 May 2018 18:59:16
United in for Porto RB Diogo Dalot for 20m.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 29 May 2018 19:35:19
You need to read his Wikipedia entry lol!

2.) 29 May 2018 19:48:23
Just looked at his Wikipedia page. Someone’s changed it already saying he plays for Man united and was born in Bakini bottom. As of today I’m nearly sure that mightn’t be 100% correct. 😂.

3.) 29 May 2018 23:42:33
It did say rather unflattering things about Pep Guariola’s bald head! 😂.

20 May 2018 14:20:36
Manchester United Looked on verge of bringing in Talisca as an attacking option. Looks like Jose thinks Rashford isn't ready as back up yet. so may be loan move for him?

One of the Red Devil

1.) 20 May 2018 17:28:10
Rashford is best suited to lw. I suspect that the goal this summer will be to move Martial on, and bring in a new striker. Rashford will be back up to Sanchez.

2.) 20 May 2018 22:22:42
Is he any good?

3.) 20 May 2018 23:23:17
20 goals and 7 assists this year I think 8 have been headers. Looks a talented player, quick and skilful. He is 6’3 so ideal for Jose. Usually plays no 10 or second striker. He’s left footed but I can see him playing on the right wing for us if we sign him. Only 24 as well so probably would prefer him to Willian.

4.) 20 May 2018 23:50:32
I despair every time I hear a player is tall so he's ideal for Jose.
Not a criticism of you Park, more for Jose.

5.) 21 May 2018 06:19:58
I would agree Rave. Jose's obsession with tall players always makes me question whether they are being signed purely for their footballing ability or to play the long ball. In this case Talisca looks like the former but we shall see it happens.

6.) 21 May 2018 11:09:16
Replacement for Fellaini as our plan B. Which actually seems to be our plan A. Keep it tight until 70 minutes then throw on someone tall to play the long ball game.

7.) 21 May 2018 12:12:06
Looks like we might get Willian this summer too. Will be 30 by the time season stars, so perfect age for Jose.

8.) 21 May 2018 12:31:54
As a back up to Lukaku and small games, he look promising. if he manages to perform batter and make right flank his than best. he Has a Brazilian flair to his game and we have seen Rashford need more time to developed over all. May be 1 or 2 loan will help him boost his confidence and footballing decisions.

9.) 21 May 2018 13:47:23
We have offered no atttacking threat down our right hand side for years. Who cares what age these players are as long as they’re effective and do the business. William would be a super signing, but we are starting to look a bit Chelsea now. Who knows, JT for new assistant role?

10.) 21 May 2018 14:44:46
Don’t get me wrong, Willian is a good player, but signing him is symptomatic of Jose’s approach since he left Chelsea first time round. It’s planning for the next season or two, put not building a team. If you contrast it to Pep at City, he’s building a young side to dominate for years, Jose is trying to win Jose a title but not planning beyond the season ahead.

11.) 21 May 2018 15:13:37
Danny would you not agree that Jose has to have a good season ahead, so in his shoes would you not go for a right winger that you can trust, also Pep pretty much had everything in place for him when he took over something that Jose was not afforded as he is still repairing other managers mistakes.

12.) 21 May 2018 15:52:39
It’s hardly repairing mistakes if you’re creating a team that you know will only be able to play at the top level for a few more seasons. Pep has brought in young players for the future, and has helped the young players at the club develop. Jose has, increasingly, started to look for players in the latter stages of their careers to replace younger players because he doesn’t care about helping players develop. It’s a trend toward caution and reducing mistakes, at the expense of building a team that lasts.

13.) 21 May 2018 16:22:58
Willian can be top level for 2-4 seasons, ideal for Chong to grow and progress into first team in that time.
Agree that Martial should move on and Rashford should be LW back up. Zlatan style striker for back up to Lukaku, say what you like about him getting the second contract but Ibra could’ve helped us on Saturday.

14.) 21 May 2018 20:09:29
To be fair though fellas and ladies, would you rather have some instant success or would you rather him go for younger players and short term not be as successful but have a brighter future? I’ll not one of your fans so my opinion isn’t really of much importance but I can see Jose’s point of trying to get success fast maybe he doesn’t think he’ll get long enough to see the long term benefit of younger players etc? What’s your guys thoughts. I’d love Rashford at Anfield won’t ever happen but the kids clearly special.

15.) 21 May 2018 22:05:03
I think a balance needs to be struck being youth and experience. As the season wore on, Jose started erring on the side of caution and picking more experienced players who are less likely to make mistakes. The level of our football got poorer in the second half, but we ground out some big results. If you look at the team that started in the FA Cup final, only three players not in their late 20s/ early 30s. Looking to sign players like Willian is an indication that this is the direction the squad is heading. Jose is building a team for the short term, and spending lots of money to do it.

16.) 21 May 2018 22:26:36
Problem is Jose himself cannot see himself staying long term so he is going for short term success which translates to short term signings. Personally like Willian and if we get 3 years out of him then Chong is ready to step up then that would work out nicely. Problem is fans want instant success and so does Jose so he will try and win any way possible and f he does so he will be off.

Cesar - all depends on the style of play for me. If he is building a young and exciting team which is competing but not winning, then I think fans will be more patient. Issue is the style is so bad and Jose always had winning the big honours to fall back on. When he doesn’t things get toxic and fans get restless. If Jose was to build for the future with young players and improves the style I am happy to be patient. If he can deliver a title in the short term and style is like his first Chelsea team, I wouldn’t be complaining.

17.) 22 May 2018 10:23:49
Planning for the short term, shows us exactly what Jose's priorities are. A title to add to his CV, and to hell with the future of the club. It's always about Jose.

A small insight needed from ed0002, ed do you think united will follow up last summer's interest in Fabinho? And will it be for RB or Holding role?

{Ed002's Note - Possibly but he won't be first choice.}

I have read somewhere that if Juventus want Ronaldo they need to sell Dybala. I guess for right side forward he is a best buy if we count mbape out. a worth of a investment and truly a quality. Do you think Juventus would make him available and United could show interest at right price?

One of the Red Devil

1.) 05 Jul 2018 19:58:15
Dybala to Barcelona or Man city most likely.

2.) 05 Jul 2018 21:12:01
Ed001 said he has been offered to real and that it is likely to happen. He’s a great player so would be a shame:

Ronnie enquiring about a player over the legal age of consent?

2.) 28 Jun 2018 06:05:47
I am happy Fellaini is staying. I just love his goal celebrations where he tries to point to his shirt number but doesn't know which direction he should face and his hands move totally out of synch. It looks as if someone has had a seizure while celebrating goal.

3.) 28 Jun 2018 09:56:47
Yes, he started 5 games. Seville being one.

25 Jun 2018 10:51:00
Hello,
What do you think of Dalot signing? And now with signing him, are United looking to sign a first choice RB or will we see Valencia 1 more season there? I have no problem as I'm not expert and it can be Jose tactics, but we don't see our wing backs attack as lethal as other teams. Or maybe Jose don't allow them to venture forward.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 25 Jun 2018 13:45:56
That will be it at right back for now, Toni will be first choice and Dalot will be pushing for his place and will hopefully take it. I imagine most know very little about Dalot unless they watch the Portuguese youth leagues so hard to have an opinion.

2.) 25 Jun 2018 18:56:31
Ive got a feeling that should Dalot get a chance he might well surprise a few and get a lot more starts than some people think. I have no knowledge of that Of course but JM really seems to rate him.

23 Jun 2018 11:43:39
if one really thinks of a back up striker with similar attributes as Lukaku than, Russia Striker Artem Zyuba is a good option. guy is strong, good in the air, holds the ball up. only variance I feel is pace.

One of the Red Devil

1.) 23 Jun 2018 11:53:58
Do we really need a back up to lukaku if as mourinho says he is one of his untouchables who are never going to get dropped?

Add in the fact we have rashford, martial and sanchez to play up front if he need arises, doesn't make sense to me.

More than likely mourinho is afraid of losing fellaini and wants a big man we can lump balls up to if we are chasing a game.

2.) 23 Jun 2018 12:02:40
Dsg
Is Jose happy to play any of them 3 as a striker, not sure they are Jose type strikers.

3.) 23 Jun 2018 13:00:12
We can't but every player that has a half decent game in the world cup.

4.) 23 Jun 2018 15:18:11
We don’t need a back up - just a decent right sided forward.

One more season of balls. looking for wig in when defence is tight to open. So Jose decided to open them with head ball rather beautiful football.
I'm personally wanted him to leave for good of our football style.

This also ends our need to bring another CM.
