Isn't Luis Gustavo a player worth having? Can't believe Arsenal don't have competition from us for him. At around 17 million he is definitely worth bidding for.
1.) You are right oswaldo. Not sure why we are not trying for him. Loads of experience, very good player.

2.) I am of the same opinion. The guy is a class act, and would jump at the chance of joining us, I would expect.
He ticks so many box's and he is cheap compared to other players of a similar caliber.
No brainier for me. Alas It seems that the powers at OT, don't have the same view.
Having a player of his ilk available for the Swansea game, would be a massive boost. Last seasons game showed just how physical they are in the CM midfield area. I recall they pressed Carrick really hard, and made it difficult for him to have an impact on the game.

I don't get it. I mean, we can offer modric first team football on a REGULAR basis. We can certainly match his wages and have the 35 million or around to spend so why on earth wouldn't he want to come?
That is assuming there is interest from our side, which should be the case after his performance against chelsea.

2.) He didn't exactly say anything, and I have to admit there are a lot of other variables to consider. But the major ones remain the selling club's, buying club's and the player's ambition. We seem to have the latter two down (theoretically), I'm just trying to wrap my brain around the fact that why is Luka modric such a difficult target.

4.) I don't think he is a difficult target if Real are open to his sale, which they apparently are.
They are also open to selling Di Maria, Coentrao and Khedira. To be honest those 4 would do nicely for us imo, don't know why we have been going for difficult targets, when some other good players are clearly available.
5.) I agree Redfaith. understandable if united don't want to go for the well established players commanding a transfer fee well north of 30 mills since we have brilliant players coming through and don't need to catch up to anyone (domestically ofcourse). Why don't go for the future stars.
Thiago was a massive loss in that regard but there are still plenty of talents in the transfer market. Kongdobia, Eriksen even Gustavo are cheap and half decent players. Gustavo is better than Anderson and Cleverly combined. is available. and would not mind playing for the biggest club in England and yet we have no interest in him. really would like to know what's going on in the minds of the people in charge.

Perhaps you should contact the Glazers and offer your services. If Eriksen is so good, why do none of the 'big' clubs want him? The same could be asked of Strootman. I am sure DM has targets in mind and is working through them. If we don't sign quality I will be happy to come on here at the end of August and rant with everyone else.

I don't see why we don't go all out and buy modric and gustavo. both affordable and both quality midfielders. in fact. give me one good reason (related strictly to the football they play) due to which we are not going for these two instead of fellaini who is more expensive and less technically gifted

Why get in his back? He only said they look class?! Stop being defensive! If it was Barca ot Bayern then you'd agree! Anyone that goes 5-0 up against Milan must be playing well. Yes - city had a stronger side out but still played well! We need to stop the way we treat each other on here! Have a good bit of banter but read your post before its sent! It's no wonder the Ed02 won't respond. Nearly everyone is as bad as each other so let's realise we're all on the same side and respect the fact everyone is entitled to their own opinion! It's called 'banter' for a reason. Not 'bullying'. let's all think before we post because as a group we represent united fans and we are making ourselves look childish and silly!
