RVP agreed personal terms with Fenherbace, according to media. Looks like we'll be in for another striker (unless we're looking at Depay covering that role)

Ashame but can understand the move though. I see no reason why Rooney can't be our main man but will now need similar quality with rvp going and me personally I like little p but depends on how he feels as number 3 as everyone wants to play in the big games. I suppose Wilson should go out on loan to.

2.) 04 Jul 2015 16:42:26
If RVP goes, I'm 100% sure United will sign quality striker of Cavani, Benzema, Higuain's caliber. I don't think LVG will leave all to Rooney's shoulders. That's not how titles are won. And Depay is a typical winger, don't think he will be most effective as a striker.

3.) 04 Jul 2015 17:29:35
I don't see the point in wasting money on a big name striker If were going to play 433 it will just cause same problems as last season when we were trying to accommodate 2 strikers in the 433 formation it didn't work I would rather we either bought a world class box 2 box midfielder so we can play di maria on the right with depay on the left and rooney up front with Wilson and Henriquez as our back up strikers or buy a world class player like turan to play on the right of the front 3 with di maria in the middle with her erra and Schneiderlin if we get him either way does me the main point is we don't need another striker if we're playing 433

4.) 04 Jul 2015 18:21:54
I find it strange that it's looking very likely that RVP and Chicharito are set to leave sooner rather than later. If there is any truth in these rumours, then Woodward must have a deal for a striker in place. Why would we sanction the sale of 2 strikers that are very capable of leading the line and have champions league experience in the hope that we can sign someone later in the window. The deals for the world class strikers will be the most difficult as they either prefer to stay at the current clubs, or cost upwards of 60 million. Woodward needs to be doing those silent assassin moves he did to get the chevy and adidas sponsorships. If he treats players like he did sponsors, he could bring in Ronaldo, Messi, and Pogba in this window lol

Good evening Eds. If the rumours of van persie are believed to be true , Do you think we possibly have one or even better two replacements lined up. Seems strange Van Gaal is letting big name players leave . Nani , Van Persie , possibly De gea. Unless they have some major signings lined up , and MUFC are waiting until, they are in place before parading them to the press.
Cheers mate

I mean we have a class striker in Rooney so ideally he is our centre forward for the big games. I'm aware I don't expect him to score all the goals as hopefully others are able to chip in. So in that sense I agree with zicco a little. The likes of a cavani or benzema are not required but would be nice. Would love to see the scouts find someone quite under the radar. If we get Morgan that sorts the middle of the park would love to splash the cash on hummels but that's just me.

7.) 04 Jul 2015 20:27:04
If Rooney starts as our main striker in some games we'll need to turn the games around and Rooney must get a decent help from another quality striker. Not saying this proposed striker (50+ mil) will be a backup though, in other games when the team we play against is known to be of a lower class, we may start with 2 up front. Rooney will get a rest or get injured in other games, so in that aspect I think we should sign a quality forward.Oh and CL is back. I like Wilson very much, but he lacks matches at top level. And in the end I will be happy if we get Kane, but I think it's not going to happen at least until next summer.

8.) 05 Jul 2015 11:07:59
why is everyone surprised? they are not good enough for what he wants out of a striker. Having said that i will be surprised if we sell RVP unless we have already secured a major deal elsewhere.

It looks like there is a lot of number crunching and cleaning the wage bill going on looking at the minimal transfer fees we are willing to accept which should indicate we are in for major signing with big wages.

Right then. I've been trying to think who might be out the door if/ when Jose comes in (and who we might try to buy) when I realised I don't really know what formation he's going to go for. I know he generally went 4-2-3-1 at Chelsea, but does anyone know what he used to play at Madrid and Inter? I think it really affects who he's likely to keep and who he's happy to push out the door. Your thoughts ladies and gentlemen?

Prof Frink

1.) 22 May 2016 10:00:25
I was thinking the same regarding formations, Porto and first spell at Chelsea he was 443 attacking, inter he mixed it between 4231, 451 and 433, Real 4231 with a free Ronaldo, second time at Chelsea 4231 rigid, so he seems flexible. For me a commanding centre back and a ball playing centre, holding mid to free up the more creative Herrera and Morgan or a creative sighing aswell, right winger and Zlatan, plus does DDG stay or go, big job on really.

OK, maybe it's just me, but if LVG goes in the summer (and I think he will) I'd rather have Pellegrini than Jose.

1.) 01 Feb 2016 20:20:25
Are you serious?

2.) 01 Feb 2016 20:38:52
REALY.

3.) 01 Feb 2016 20:57:07
Is it snowing on your planet 😆😆.

4.) 01 Feb 2016 21:01:36
Ermm no, I don't think that would be a good choice.

Arguably City have the strongest team this season, certainly the strongest squad. They have also had the strongest squad/ team in the two previous seasons. So on my mind Pellegrini has massively underachieved and has probably only been saved by City sticking to their long term plan and bring in Pep when he was ready.

5.) 01 Feb 2016 21:22:33
This the banter page so here goes.
How about Mark Hughes? Attacking as every post wants. Some say not proven but he laid the foundation for City only to be kicked out by an over ambitiuos owner at the time. Still think his heart is more the red side though. Giggs as assistant, sure they'll get on. Scholes could join in and coach, that'll stop the negativity from his side. Vidic might want a hobby so he could assist as defensive coach assisted later by GNeville as soon as he gets back from Spain which will not be to long to wait I suspect. Ferdinand might be available too to help out.
Also Beckham could maybe be technical director or even sponsor with SAF behind them all if advice is needed.

just a thought.

The Christmas doo would be good I expect.

6.) 01 Feb 2016 22:13:47
Cymru, we could do a lot worse than hughesie.

7.) 01 Feb 2016 22:39:57
The Hughesie bit I meant. The rest doubtfull I agree but who saw Fergie coming at the time?

Can't see Verratti coming to us. Kante will have a ton of offers to choose from after the Euros - I hope we put enough cash on the table to tempt him.

If we want to bulk up our wide player selection we should re-sign Anderson.

An absolute shedload of money has been poured into it, but the number of genuinely good players has stayed the same - that's what's happened to football.

Singh - unfortunately I think you're right. Pogba will get offers from teams who are in the CL, can pay at least as much as we can, are are in sunnier, more glamourous climes than M16. Pogba is not coming to us, we have to get over that. OTOH, Sneijder is still a goer.

Not sure Griezmann is really a striker. We might take a punt on Lacazette - good scoring record and seriously quick. A front 3 of Martial, Lacazette and Rashford (back up by Depay, Lingard and a. n. other) would frighten the life out of a lot of back lines.

Spot on DSG. Depay's clearly got pace and ability, but the only way he's going to get confidence is by having a run in the first team, and are we really going to drop Martial to allow that to happen?
