Its official guys Manchester United have signed for Zlatan Ibrahimovic!

RedGuard

1.) 01 Jul 2016 17:58:15
It's Zlatan time!

2.) 01 Jul 2016 18:01:21
Manchester, welcome to Zlatan!
Quality billboard.

3.) 01 Jul 2016 18:50:15
Poor signing, I am laughing all the way.

4.) 01 Jul 2016 18:57:23
I think he will score and assist for us next season, on a regular basis.

5.) 01 Jul 2016 19:17:45
You would think after the last 20 years mighty reds tears would be more appropriate.

And on the subject of bad signings I would love to list the absolute comedy that you have signed recently but I have work monday (a concept you probably don't understand) and I don't have time sorry.

6.) 01 Jul 2016 19:30:05
Just listening to him talk in the interview, I see what people mean when they say people are winners. Even in conversation it's all he focuses on. Definitely going to be a positive force in the dressing room.

7.) 01 Jul 2016 21:54:55
Yes Mighty red he's no Benteke.

8.) 01 Jul 2016 23:26:51
I remember last year when I said Schweinsteiger was a poor signing and you lot lost your heads, remember I am ALWAYS right.

9.) 02 Jul 2016 00:26:45
Zing Dean, zing.

10.) 02 Jul 2016 00:47:13
Laughing all the way to where MightyReds? Mid Table Obscurity?

11.) 02 Jul 2016 01:43:40
Laughing all the way to 8th place, you showed us 😅.

12.) 02 Jul 2016 07:56:59
You've got them all biting here mighty lol.
Talking to a couple of City fans and they are delighted United have now taken their " last big pay day" signings tag.

Falcao is avaliable apparently. 😂.

13.) 02 Jul 2016 10:04:03
Just a little nibble Nicky 😉

You should take Falcao on a free tbh he'd make a good partner for Balotelli 😎.

14.) 02 Jul 2016 11:03:52
Spot on Nicky we all know how deluded those Salford fans are.

15.) 02 Jul 2016 19:34:54
Liverpool the top signers of forwards in recent prem history balotelli, benteke and the superstar ricky lambert i would be quiet after them 3 donkeys.

I wonder how people would feel if we didn't sign anybody this summer. Instead we build a playing style and a strong team ethic where we are all pulling in the same direction. Ok, we don't challenge but see an improvement in all the players and team performance. An us against the world mentality.

1.) 22 Jun 2022 12:48:01
I’d take it if it also meant paying off Martial, Jones etc to get them out of the club and have a proper squad clear out and refresh. No players in the squad who will cause issues, who can’t be arsed or don’t have a future as they aren’t good enough, then play the players who have a future and some youngsters for a season.

I said I’d be happy with this ages ago when speaking to friends, even if it meant a bad season league position wise, although I don’t think it would be any worse than what we have seen this past season, and there would be a reason and direction to it at least.

2.) 22 Jun 2022 12:55:54
Well if we didn't sign anyone this summer then we probably should have got Mauricio Pochettino as manager.

3.) 22 Jun 2022 13:46:07
I will be happy providing as Brendan says, we get rid of martial, Jones, Bailly, Pereira, AWB, telles. Give the youngsters a chance. We won't make top 10 but if it means the club gets back to its roots, then so be it.
DSG, not sure what Poch could do that ETH can't.

4.) 22 Jun 2022 14:37:46
With Pogba, Lingard, Mata, Matic, Cavani, Grant and potentially Henderson gone, we need players. I get the rebuild and getting a playing style back etc but our current mob aren’t up to scratch for a club our size. It would mean Fred, McTominay and Garner are our only CM, obviously Fernandes, Van de Beek and Hannibal play centrally but that’s not enough.
Same woeful defence, unbalanced forward line. No way can we endure another season with this lot. Ten Hag or not.

5.) 22 Jun 2022 15:21:41
How would fans feel if, having gambled by not signing anyone, we actually got relegated? How attractive would destination United be to top players in June 2023 if we finish 11th? Unless the manager thinks he can be successful with the remains of our current squad, not giving or at least genuinely trying to give him what he says he needs this year would be seen by the fans as a capitulation and a betrayal of their loyalty. I am not in on the promises the club made to EtH to get him to take the job, but I'm pretty sure a failure to work towards giving him the tools he need would be a betrayal of their assurances, and would completely undermine the rebuilding process.

6.) 22 Jun 2022 15:38:58
You guys are aware that you can implement a strong style of play and a great team ethic WITH new players joining the club.

In fact in some cases that might even be easier to do so with new players in the squad.

New players with the right attitude.

New players whose skillsets suit the style of play the new manager is trying to implement.

Good playing style and team ethic is great, but its what got Brighton to 9th last season.

You know what stopped them getting top four or challenging for the title?

Not having players of sufficient quality.

7.) 22 Jun 2022 19:01:26
Three managers have failed to get this lot to press effectively, why would they buy into EtH work ethics, they could just as easily throw him under the bus like they did with Ralf.
I expect not many of the current squad to be here in two years once EtH finds out how workshy they are.

8.) 23 Jun 2022 01:18:18
I love the thinking behind a proper rebuild, but in all honesty, a year of midtable football followed by no europe would see EtH u der pressure and no players willing to join us. The only way it would work is to only sign players around 24 or under and try to build a team from scratch.

No chance man utd do that, sponsors and owners would go crazy.

Well to be honest I was surprised by the result, given the way we fielded and started the match. But the way we ended the game I was feeling like the players could have a chemistry after all?
Sancho looked good and that goal was a real United move!

I, like many, was very pleased with what I saw on Sunday. I sat giggling and clapping my hands, like a school kid! Although I understand people urging caution about getting too carried away, I think we looked like the finished article. Everywhere on the pitch we looked composed, full of ideas, strong and forward minded. I really have a good feeling about this squad.

Personal opinion here guys. I don't care who we sign! All I care about is the knowledge that our manager has, to set a side up to win games. I believe he does. He will find the right hand for the right glove. Be it a shiny new name, or Pulcinella from the pub. I think he will build something quite special!

RedGuard

1.) 30 Jun 2017 02:55:35
You think when he builds his own team it will be (wait for it) a Special One?

2.) 30 Jun 2017 04:45:49
I like this, people coming here saying Perisic isn't quality enough, Matic is not worthy etc, forgetting that the manager has an ideology of what he wants and how he wants his team set up.

Mourinho has always been efficiency of the unit rather than flair and class. Most of his best performers have been the unsung heroes, the grafters, the workhorses.

I don't care who he buy as long as the trophies come home.

3.) 30 Jun 2017 06:41:03
I hate the transfer window with a passion just want the season to start and as for who we buy the club know better than all of us.
What was it jred used to say "in jose we trust "

4.) 30 Jun 2017 08:18:43
In regards to matic and co if we sign them great what I don't get is why as soon as we are linked to player they a suddenly great players, better than all the ones we have .
People have said all season that the players we have are not good enough expecting us to go out and buy all the star names .
It's not the star names we are linked with tho it's matic and co who aren't really any better than what we have .

I've no issue with it, I think we have some very good players a really good squad we just need the manager to get the best out of it .

5.) 30 Jun 2017 10:31:25
jred I think the manager has already got the best out of the available players.

Think of it as a Ferrari with the players being the parts of it. For the wheels to run perfectly, you need the suspension to perform well. Now we have the wheels but may be suspension needs renewal.

Now, I agree with your post to a certain extent on we not needing star players but we do need players that can allow our already existing good players to perform better. I think we all agree that Pogba didn't have a stellar season last year and we all said at some point that he and Herrera need to be freed up further. I don't care if its Matic or Fabinho or Naingollan or any player that Jose deems fit as long as they do the job they are asked for. Carrick seems to do a job in some games but then most games he is too slow and the game passes him by. We need that holding player who can command that area. Whether we get Matic or not, he is without a doubt the best in the league at what he does.

More than the stardom, we actually need the CHARACTER who has the ability to pull up the others and get going. Zlatan did that to a certain extent last season. Either Pogba becomes the player we all hope or we get someone who can actually do that. We need a leader on the pitch.

With De Gea we have a wonderful base to the team and two good CBs, we can build upon. The full backs need addressing and so does the holding MF. Striker we need a guaranteed goalscorer if not two. I am not convinced with either Rashford or Martial to be honest and they simply cannot lead our line this season or else we are screwed.

6.) 30 Jun 2017 10:44:50
This is exactly my issues Jred - barely any of the players we seem strongly linked with are major upgrades (in fact some would be downgrades in my humble opinion and huge risks) . It's early days but I'd feel much better being linked to Verrati, Sanchez, Bonucci - rather than Matic, Perisic and John Terry (joke)

I also don't care whether they purport to be Jose's signings or not. LVG made signings as well that everybody and his dog were saying were great, remember Depay, Schneiderlin, Schweiny and Co? Jose hardly has a great track record as well with some absolutely horrendous flops in his time. So it's not 'In Jose we trust', it should be 'In Jose we Hope'.

Hope - he buys players to improve the team considerably not just add depth to a squad of mainly good but not top class players
Hope - we don't pay double the true value of players which will limit our ability to strengthen other areas of the squad
Hope - some of our exciting young players get more of an opportunity to excel
Hope - we go out to win all games not simply avoid defeat, signing yet more steady eddy's will not change how negative we tend to be in big games, it will only mean the bus has double glazing!

7.) 30 Jun 2017 11:43:16
I don't buy all this pogba needs freed up B. S.
He struggled to adapt last year he is a young player that is trying to make the transition from potential, sparks of brilliance to a really top player who runs a game .
He doesn't need matic for that .
He struggled for France and was getting a lot of stick of the fans and press and was with kante and matuldi (both better than matic) .

But we saw through out the season him starting to pick it up learn the role not just tricks and flicks, for both club and country .

Pogba doesn't need matic to be a good player imo.

8.) 30 Jun 2017 12:52:46
What formation do u see us playing next season jred . I think there's a lot of teams next year we realy shouldn't have too much problem with where a 4231 with Mata or Miki infront of pogba and Herrera . However against maybe the top 6, the odd awkward away game or better European teams we may need a 433 with more of a shield instead of Mata or Miki . It depends what u want from this shield is it merely to break up attacks and give the ball to a better player or have the ability to run a game to . Personally I'd like the later as if the point of a shield is to release pogba and Herrera a bit more it's no good if they have to drop all the way back to receive a short pass off the shield to begin attacks.

9.) 30 Jun 2017 13:09:51
Slate agree with all that but I think we look better with a 4231, I think playing with a 10 always links our midfield and forward line better .

10.) 30 Jun 2017 17:47:57
Jred, matic and Fabinho are upgrades on Fellaini and carrick (legs gone) , perisic is better than young, Lindelof is better than Smalling, Morata or Boletti are an addition to the attack not replacements really. Zlatans injury forced his departure. Not really sure where your coming from with the not better than what we have comment?

11.) 30 Jun 2017 18:58:29
Fellaini doesn't play the dcm role herrera does . Herrera and pogba are far better players than matic .
Matic would improve the squad not a massive upgrade on the first 11.

Young started 5 league matches last season most at lb . Our wide players last season where miki mata rash linders and martial . Perisic is a similar level so again not a massive improvement.

Ibra imo is a better player than morata so I don't see our attack being better than it was last season .

As I said below haven't seen a lot of lindelof so I haven't commented on him . don't really watch Portuguese football .
So for me matic morata and perisic aren't massive improvements on our first 11 although they will strengthen the squad .

So as I said above and explained below I don't see how some people can argue the players we have are not good enough while arguing matic and co are a step up.
I've read post after post saying we need the bales grizemanns of this world turns out we never .

I actually think we have good squad as I have said many times, if Jose can get them playing well we will be fine.

" Saw the Beckham documentary and post his red card when he was getting abused by pundits, media and fans everywhere and there is that moment at OT where The whole stadium sing his name in a show of support and he goes on to have his best season ever and thought we need some of that from the fans atm, when everyone is taking potshots at us "
I would love that to happen ahmad. Become a fortress again with the best fans in the world.

If such a thing could happen, it would be like someone planted a seed from which a Manchester United player grew!
That's how I see this chap Evan Ferguson.
