Ander Herrera! I love this guy. He gives everything on and off the pitch. I know he has dip in forms, but that is down to him not playing regularly. Guy won last year player of the year right.

Now that we have signed Sanchez who adds a lot weight in our attacking. We can afford to take out one attacker and play Ander Herrera. I think Jose should start thinking about playing 3 in midfield. He will prove very useful without taking the limelight.

Because he will run his socks off, defensively and his attacking through ball is good aswell. He will give Pogba freedom and take loads of from Matic who struggles in big games aswell as against all those draws where opponents over crowd us in midfield. His addition will surely strengthen our midfield and defensively help us in champions-league.

Most importantly that will be way forward for next season. Because we all know Pogba should be given freedom because he is one of the best player specially when attacking add Sanchez to that. Mouth watering!

I’d love to see Herrera play more as he clearly loves playing for the club. I think with a defensive mid, we need someone who can run their legs off - This is why I wish we went for Kante, hey ho I’m hoping we can get a player of similar style in the summer. As much as we paid £40mill for Matic who is good, he doesn’t reassure me as much as I would like.

2.) 31 Jan 2018 10:44:50
I like Herrera but I don't think he's good enough to play in the first 11. I think we are weak in that central midfield area and need to strengthen in the summer. Herrera is a good back up player to have in the squad.

3.) 31 Jan 2018 11:07:35
Matt,

I think I would love playing for the club as well so should I be playing more? I would rather we had players who were good enough rather than enthusiastic ones who enjoy themselves.

4.) 31 Jan 2018 17:01:43
GDS2 If you are taking everything literal. Udefinitely live in strange world. I am sure Matt is talking about passion Ander Herrera shows when playing. To be fair to Herrera, as soon Jose bought Matic he sort of moved him out.
I disagree to all Above who says he is not good enough. Everybody can see Pogba plays lot better in advance. So taking out one attacker and giving Pogba freedom aswell shifting him a bit further up would be logical thing to do. Add to tht we have Sanchez's attacking threat. Now we need to tighten our defense which could mean putting extra in midfield. We have fellaini or Herrera. From the options we have right now in our disposal, I think Herrera makes logical sense. Specially away games and in champions-league where opponents have packed midfield. And at least give Herrera run of games.
Opinions opinions.

Looking at how amazing talented timothy-fo-mensah and Axel tuanzebe are. I am excited for our future defense! Strong, quick, very fast and amazing defensive capabilities.

1.) 07 Mar 2018 05:41:29
Redsamurai-not sure about mensah, but tuanzebe is going to be a terminator, only thing is, will jose invest in a defender who can marshall that defence, can't stand the fella personally, but i have to doff my cap to john terry, never gifted with pace or technical skill, but a born leader, and was able to pull the strings of those around him so his failings were insulated by everyone else, that's what jose now needs, not so much a super star, but a leader at the back, someone to bully, cajole, slap down and inspire those around him, as far as i'm concerned from midfield onwards it will take care of itself, but a leader and warrior at the back MUST be a top priority in the summer, because as we all know, you cannot build something that lasts without a solid base, and that could be one of the last pieces of the puzzle, i wish there was a time machine so that i could go back in time and bring back franco baresi, now there's a warrior, leader and legend!

2.) 07 Mar 2018 10:36:00
How about Martin Buchan?

3.) 07 Mar 2018 18:38:09
How about Eric Bailey?

Away from home Jose needs to start playing 3 in midfield. The game is shouting for Herrera. When we have the ball in our attacking third their 6 player r allover us and just holding the ball passing sideways and backwards. And when our defends has the ball they are closing on us.

And why Ashley Young. If he needs game time we could play him in FA cup. Jose's dealing with players specially younger ones makes me question him.

Now that Sanchez is looking very likely. His work rate on and off the pitch is phenomenal. I hope likes of Rashford, martial, Lindgard, Gomez and Chong can learn from him.
I think in Summer if we manage to add a midfielder (Milinkovic-Savic or leon goretzka) and a strong Right Back to compete with Valencia ( someone like Fabinho) .

For someone who has been watching Pogba and Lingard at u18s to seeing them doing well.
My biggest dream is for Jose to give Timothy Fosu-mensah a chance and trust him in midfield in Role of Makelele. Boy is one of the best in one on one situation and with pace to burn (the likes of Zaha has recently mentioned it) . He is destroyer and breaker, with his pace to intercept.
I can only look forward to coming years and dream about how strong our midfield three will be.
Onwards and Upwards.

Redsamurai

{Ed004's Note - I actually think Mensah future is at right back. After the summer transfer window j would like to see fullback options of Valencia + Mensah and Shaw + New LB (such as Tierney) with Young covering both sides. I agree a cm is needed and I think the majority of our budget will be spent there however I wonder if we could sign a truly elite cb if none of ours step up and be consistent till end of the season. No idea who that could be however}

1.) 19 Jan 2018 02:13:39
David Luiz perhaps, he is perfect for playing out from the back and maximising on most teams playing with one upfront. He can be erratic, but I think he would be a revelation back there with Bailly. Plus we could probably get him cheaper than we normally would.

2.) 19 Jan 2018 07:31:32
if TFM ever playes more than 50 games as a man utd right back I'll be shocked he is not and never will be a right back. Cb or dcm all the way imo but we will wait and see.

3.) 19 Jan 2018 07:51:20
David Luiz? Really beast?! He is a total liability! Erratic is putting it nicely! Conte dosnt trust him in a back 3 let alone a back 2!

Im happy with Jones and Baily atm. If I was going to go for anyone it would be Varane.

4.) 19 Jan 2018 03:19:01
Ed, i think Rojo may be the cover at LB if we are keeping him. Fabinho coming in ( unlikely I think) would help out rub and CM. I personally think Valencia has another Season left in him and with TFM, young and Lindelof we are OK there. Getting perriera back will help CM as I think he can replace Herrera if he were to leave. Cm to cover for Fellaini, striker to cover to lbra, gk to replace Romero and look for a cb if the budget s still there. We may also get a #10 if he is on a free.

The good bit is next season out bench may have : Romero/ new gk, tfm, Tuanzebe/ rojo, Rashford, perriera, Lingard and a new striker. A lot of academy kids there.

Here are some predictions.

Sterling to get atleast 7 penalties through out the season.
Rooney to score 20+ goals.
Valencia to have high assist. Wise to have him in your fantasy league.

Redsamurai

1.) 14 Aug 2016 11:13:42
Fancy a bet? I'll bet anyone £100 Rooney doesn't get 20 premier league goals?

2.) 14 Aug 2016 12:10:25
if i was to bet a £100 on Rooney to get 20+ it will be with the bookies as i think it would be fantastic odds does anyone know who is on penalties can't see Wayne getting 20 but i would love it if did.

3.) 14 Aug 2016 12:13:58
I wouldn't fancy that.
Stand ill take you on at £50 on rooney to score 10 goals or more.

4.) 14 Aug 2016 13:02:51
Not taking 10 as he'll get about 5 pens. Take 15 tho for £100?

5.) 14 Aug 2016 13:22:52
Haha. Na can't see him getting 15.

6.) 14 Aug 2016 15:26:52
19 to go lol.

7.) 14 Aug 2016 11:37:22
Rooney may have 20 goal attempts :)

I wish we go for Kante and Kroos for whatever price is being demanded. In Europe and against stronger opponents the midfield three of Kante, Schneiderlin and Kroos would be dominating.

I don't like all these talks and gossip about Pogba. Feels like we are chasing after an ex gf. Shit never works, even if you manage to get her back. It's time we let go of past.

Redsamurai

1.) 08 Jul 2016 12:27:39
What if we are just friends with benefits?

just for a year or 2 until we re-marry?

2.) 08 Jul 2016 12:31:41
If Jose is going to throw 90- 100 mill at Pogba then although i'm not 100% convinced I will back his judgement - you can look at it as 2,5 Andy Carrolls, or 3 bentekes or 2 sterlings - 2 otamendis / Mangalas

Alternatively based on uk media you can get :

Stones 45 mill, Kroos 40 mill, mayrez 35 mill kante 30 mill
Naingoglan 40 mill Isco 40 mill matuidi 26 mill

I guess its what context you put it in - I have to say i'm glad i'm not making the decisions or writing the cheques

Having said all that we are probably 2- 3 seasons away from the first 150 mill player aren't we? So who can make sense of any of the financial side of football, and if we win the league with Pogba or win a CL who can complain?

3.) 08 Jul 2016 15:10:05
well i think we have to be realistic and say pogba is in the most elite category of talent probaby no equal to him for his overall game play and most defiantly his age why would we not want the best for the sake of 2 or 3 not quite so good players we have now strengthend 3 postions substantially the squad is very strong in all postions even midfield add the best cm to arguably the best striker and goal keeper we have a fantastic team.

4.) 08 Jul 2016 16:18:14
We don't have the best striker. Aguero? And our defence ain't the best eitber.

5.) 08 Jul 2016 16:49:42
to be fair hereford there is arguments for Aguero being the better striker but for me what zlatan will bring to the prem i can't see anyone better for united jose and us fans and on the defence side we have a very strong defence especially with shaw coming back and if Baily is as good as i hope and beleave we look rock solid.

6.) 08 Jul 2016 16:55:49
I would sooner spend the money on Kroos and Kante.

Surely it is not just between either Mourinho or LVG. As much as I want to see trophies, I am far from convince that Mourinho is the solution specially for Manchester United. There is reason why Barcelona had stayed away from him.

Plus if glazers are looking to sell the club. That has huge factor in terms of managerial position.

For me the next manager should have 2 characters.
One to bring youth up.
And give confident to current players.

Lastly it is interesting what Pique said on trainings, SAF wasn't hands on. But rather from outside controlling everything. That is because of the huge size and task of the club.
The club the size of ours needs Sporting Director. Without it, I think it will be huge task for whoever comes (even the best) . It will give longevity of success and continuations of clubs ethos.

Football is never a one man show. But playing to the 25 man squad.

I do agree on Pogba being our best player. I do agree on us playing someone with Matic and shifting Pogba little up. I think in our current squad it is Herrera. And of José wants to he could play Timothy fosu-mensah there with Matic. Guy is beast in one of one and tackles. That would mean sacrifice one person from up top. And I don't think that is too much of problem. Since we just added Sanchez in our attacking threat.

Playing 2 men midfield with Pogba is never going to get best of Pogba infact it is doing the worst possible thing. It's like asking Pogba to play out of position. He is good but other teams are packing midfield. Against Tottenham Dembele, Ericson and Alle was running riot.
It would help if we have defender who presses and are good with ball. Smalling clearly isn't. Maybe Bailey and Jones playing together will help.
But Jose can't see that. And I have feeling that will be our undoing if we r ever hoping any trophies. 2 in midfield with Pogba on one.

I would Smalling and Darian first. Smalling although fit always doesn't take responsibility when ball is in his area. Seems to shy away from the ball and making decisions. I know he became pro footballer late in his career. And it is evident with his passing aswell. Give Tuanzebe a go when he comes back from loan from Aston Villa.

I have to disagree with kdevil10. When Pogba was here, we had midfield trio of Tunniclife and Ravel Morrison. Used to watch all the u21. Hoping they will all move to first team. Pogba wasn't exactly `absolutely dominating matches', I honestly can remember other 2 playing better on average.
Game against Liverpool, it was either final or very important matches, and Pogba went ahead and got himself red card with silly challenges. Even that time Tunniclife was like leader and worked his ass off and won the game with one man down.
TFM, for me feels like will become absolute star.
But loads of factors environment or otherwise (have huge impact on development.

Yh in my attempt to understand the man better I read his autobiographical book and the book I mentioned. Some scandalous and big allegations. I guess I would have to wait and see.
One thing is for sure, for longevity man utd needed to change the system within. And definitely need a Sporting Director aswell.

Hope for the best and will enjoy the next season.
Cheers for response.
