Throwing this in the mix, what are people’s honest thoughts on resigning Memphis Depay? I haven’t actually seen any matches but watched highlight reels and he seems to have had a good season.

I believe there’s some clause in his contract where we have first dibs at the same price we sold?

ScottishRedDevil

{Ed004's Note - No thanks. Still not good enough and don't think we could even try to justify signing another left sided winger}

Paul Pogba in my opinion has not lived up to expectations. He jogs everywhere and seems to lack effort.

However, his 10/ 15 mins against city where he scored 2 and the 2nd goal tonight shows what he can do by putting in the effort. There’s no doubt he has so much potential and hopefully he will work over the summer and show us what he’s got next season!

Im not arguing against your point mate BUT he has a very laboured aproach yo his type of play. SOMETIMES he looks lazy BUT has actually had a good game.

Just wanted to point out regardless of how he's played, he has a style that makes him look 'lazy"

2.) 18 Apr 2018 23:08:08
Agreed EZRS it’s perceived lazy because of the way he moves. Same happened to berbatov in comparison to Tevez. And I’m sure ozil’s running stats are higher than Sanchez this season while at arsenal. Can be deceiving.

3.) 18 Apr 2018 23:48:10
I don't think effort alone should deceive you. It's about the end result that counts. Jimmy Greaves in his hey day barely moved from the penalty area but boy could he score goals. So if Pogba has a languid style but he affects the game positively for us that is what matters. Also to be fair to him if he had a really good midfield partner it would help him no end. The best teams have top pairs of midfielders playing close to each other. Think of our past teams. Today look at City Silva and DE Bruyne or Madrid Kroos and Moriches Barcelona had Xavier and Iniesta. Matic is great as a defensive shield but he plays too far away from Pogba.

4.) 19 Apr 2018 10:50:43
I remember one of the eds saying as soon as we sign him that we would have to get used to he's playing style, and he may look lazy he plays in bursts in a game. Or something along those lines.

5.) 19 Apr 2018 22:39:36
Scholes said it the best, you can't be a united midfielder wanting to win things and only play well one in three games.

Despite winning 3-1 tonight, it wasn't a great performance. For me, Herrera and carrick were the best players on the pitch. Rooney did absolutely nothing. His passing wasn't good and his touch was terrible. If I was the manager this would be rooney's last season with us. Nobody knows his best position and we are playing better players out of position because of him. The Rooney who signed for us and the Rooney we saw for years is nowhere to be seen and we shall never see him again. If we were to change his name to an unknown name and no reputation he wouldn't get a game. He's simply not good enough! I've been a fan of him for years but for me his time is up. If we can sell him next summer and get some money for him we are winning!

Dont want to be going on about rooney but like you said if he was unknown i honestly think he wouldn't even get in the Northampton side.

2.) 22 Sep 2016 07:29:06
It's a win, and that's all that's important. Good to give the younger players a chance to impress too. I think all of them represented themselves very well.

The most important thing was Carrick. He's finally been told he can pass a ball forward again. I would really like to see herrera and himself alongside each other with pogba playing in front with the freedom.

Rushford just continues to shine. Many forwards wouldn't haven't bothered chasing that down. He is setting an example to the others.

It is a very important game against Leicester at the weekend. I am very excited to see what Jose is going to do as there are some tough decisions to be made.

3.) 22 Sep 2016 07:36:12
Pogba, Herrera and Carrick is a dream midfield.
But against Leicester if we still can I'd like us to play a 3-5-2.
Would make it easier for the CFs to cope with their attack and Ranieri would not be expecting a back 5.
Ddg
Valencia
Bailly
Smalling
Blind
Shaw/ Young
Carrick
Herrera
Pogba
Zlatan
Rashford.

4.) 22 Sep 2016 08:16:20
Rooney has been our Gerrard for a very long time now and we all know how that one ended.

5.) 22 Sep 2016 09:22:51
Th problem with sitting rooney is it will be a circus with the media and the noise that comes with it. As stated many times even by Fergie a player that needs to play both from a fitness perspective and form perspective. I think Jose has a very difficult decision to make and do not envy him. Sitting him will not improve his form when he comes back as he will be out of shape.

6.) 22 Sep 2016 10:58:24
Who wants him coming back?

7.) 22 Sep 2016 12:54:13
Said that very thing 18 months - 2 years ago Scottish. He would have been a fringe player for a few years had he not been living off his past quality and exploits. He has been a spent force for 2-3 years now, and is holding back our team from moving forward. We need to say thank you for what you did between the ages of 18 and 26/ 27, but the time has come to move along. Let him leave for free if it gets him a move somewhere he wants to be, as his wages will be a problem for a lot of teams. USA is a possibility, he'd still look decent there and could get decent wages.

{Ed025's Note - if not we can organise a whip round brendan.. :)

8.) 22 Sep 2016 13:04:58
lol ken.

9.) 22 Sep 2016 19:23:08
I'd happily donate to the buying club ed :-)

10.) 22 Sep 2016 23:44:13
We'll take him at Celtic he'd do a turn for us plus he's a Celtic fan, though maybe a return to his boyhood heroes Everton could be on his mind before he retires, i think he could still make a contribution at United though.

Currently watching France v Romania and I would honestly take a fair few players from that French side. Unfortunately all at a price! Pogba, Kante, Matuidi, Griezman and Payet are all players I'd love to see in a UTD shirt! Obviously in dreamland here! i'd be so happy with just one haha!

ScottishRedDevil

1.) 10 Jun 2016 21:03:59
I dunno if I rate Pogba as highly as he's made out tbh, gives the ball away a lot, any game I've seen him he's not been great. It's like Ribery, never saw him have a good game. Kante, Griezmann and Matuidi tho yeah.

2.) 10 Jun 2016 22:40:17
I think Pogba would be good in CM with a grafter like Kante next to him. Kante does the grind and Pogba has the class and height!

3.) 10 Jun 2016 21:21:19
Payet is the most influential player in the game IMO. I agree on your view on Pogba I pray to god we don't do anything stupid like they are talking about. The PL will be a very different proposition than the italian league and Juve. Kante I will take all day.

We all have to remember that this is a brand new team almost. Back four, midfield and up front has changed from last season with new players coming in with different ages, levels of experience, ability etc. Give them time to gel, we all knew that when SAF left that it was going to be difficult. I think SAF would have had the same problem had he still been here. His team in his last campaign would struggle to get top 4, possibly even top 6, with the competition that there is in the premiership now. Give them time, it'll all work it out in the end.

I read on Sky Sports that over the two legs we only had 4 shots on target. with out attacking options, that’s not good enough!

A must win game and we’re playing with Matic and Fellaini in midfield! Pogba needs a rocket up his ar*e!

The defence needs sorted. Heard a rumour that we may be interested in Umtiti, can’t be any worse than Smalling!

Yes maybe one or two players have surrounded the ref on few occasions but I mean I don't want to see Smalling running 150yrds to join the other 9 outfield players every time there's a foul just like John terry and the rest of his team did at least 6/ 7 times a game!

I don't think Mourinho is the man to "cut pep down". I believe Mourinho has the arrogance and confidence in himself to build a strong team at Utd. I think Jose at Utd would have the pulling power - like Pep - to bring in the big names. I do believe he would adapt his personality to fit Utd because he knows what Manchester Utd means and is. He's close to SAF I'm sure and wouldn't want to let him down.

If I was a city player I would want to be playing my best for the rest of the season. I wouldn't want, in my opinion the best manager in the world since fergie retired, to be coming to my club and getting rid of me.
