West Ham so not have midweek games like the champions league, they were well rested and obviously with more energy in their legs hence flew off the blocks. we have already played 4 more games than them, it's still incredible how many moan at the performance. we are even picking up muscle injuries now because we have to match the intensity of the well rested teams.

Sly, do you genuinely believe people shouldn't be complaining about performances like the first hour yesterday, the first half against Southampton, the Spurs game and a fair few more this season simply because we play midweek?
It's also not like many of the players who started yesterday were run into the ground, several have missed a fair few games for various reasons.

West Ham should’ve been out of sight in the first quarter of the game yesterday. They missed great chances as our defence was once again taken apart with ease.
It doesn’t change the fact that we’ve picked up more points than any other PL club since the end of January. Had the league run over a calendar year we’d be top, but it doesn’t work like that.
We have some great players but they play as individuals. I keep thinking where we would be with this squad if we had a proper coaching setup and football people above them.

We can't start using midweek games as an excuse, we have a huge squad built to cope with the demand. The difference between the first and second half was simply Bruno, created more chances in 45 minutes than the rest of the team combined for the whole game, we are a one man team.

Grim,
Excuse for what? We won. The top managers and people in the game are using the midweek games as an ‘excuse’ for a lack of intensity and number of muscle injuries so it would be foolish to think there isn’t something in it.

Antonio Valencia looks like he could get back to his old self, three assists and most importantly he was crossing the ball.

Yes, he has really improved in the right back position and he is what mourinho likes in a full back. People saying he could leave are way off the mark I think, he will play a lot of games this season.

Gds
I agree.

I think he's a confidence playe, if JM improves players then we may see great things from him.

I have no idea why Tony keeps popping up on this site, in lists of players likely to leave. Ideal squad player, full of pace and power. I think he'll thrive under Jose's coaching.

The football gods are smiling tonight. The red army matches on and Barcelona got hit where it hurts after they played with twelve players.
